I have been following Alexandra Bracken on her journey through writing this book and absolutely jumped at the chance to catch a sneak-peek! It's been months of hearing about her character crafting and plot twist hinting, and I have to say the Lore sample chapters are such a tease.

The synopsis is so intriguing. It's such a fresh take on a mythology that is so well known. Hunting gods. Interacting with legends. Immortals trapped in New York City a place known for thin lines and teetering life choices and gritty details. Revenge and all things Greek Myths. A line up that would make anyone crave more.

Listening to Alexandra Bracken talk about the work and actually sitting down and get immersed in the characters was wonderful. I know this is a sample so I don't want to say much about anything just yet but the promise of so much more makes this go right to the top of my pile. I have the release date bookmarked on all of my calendars!

Thank you Netgalley & Disney Publishing for this advanced sampler!

Lore is a fresh and bloody take on the Greek Gods in modern time. I am really excited to see where the rest of the story goes. Lore one of the Gorgon's descendants has to work with Athena to hunt down the new God of War. I like the mythology and the Hunger Games style battle.

Alexandra Bracken never disappoints. Although this is only a chapter sampler, what we were given was enough to understand whats happening and keep us wanting more. So interested in Lore/Cas. Can’t wait to read the entire thing!

I have been a fan of Bracken’s work for years and constantly proclaim that her Darkest Minds series is one of my favorite series of all time. But, Lore may have it beat. Though this is just a chapter sampler, Lore has hooked me from the very beginning and I’m desperate to read the whole book once it’s released in January. The story is gritty and dark, but still has that spark of light and humor that has been prevalent in all of her work. I cannot wait to see how the characters and story further develop over the course of the novel, and the series.

What an exciting few chapters! Thanks for the opportunity to read and review this chapter sampler. I love the Greek/Roman mythology theme and I'm excited to see where it goes within the rest of the book! Lore is already such an interesting character. This book holds a lot of promise!

This was a sample that made me really want to consume the entirety of the novel and I will once it becomes available. Lore is set in a world where the Greek/Roman gods are being hunted and their immortality gets bestowed on their killer. Lore is a young woman she lives in New York City and is fighting her way through life literally (she takes part in an underground fight ring). When Lore encounters the goddess Athena wounded and bleeding she has an opportunity to get revenge upon those that took her family from her. But when hunting gods is a lifestyle can this fighter win this round. Amazing story I can't wait to see where this goes.

* I received a chapter sampler from NetGalley for an honest review *

All I can say is WOW! The first six chapters of this book are spectacular and I cannot wait to see what happens next. The set up is a fresh and exciting take on the Greek gods.

Every seven years the Agon, a seven day period where nine Greek gods who took part in a failed rebellion, become mortal and walk the earth. During this time they are hunted by descendants of the ancient bloodlines so that they can kill the god and take their place. Lore is the last remaining mortal member of her family. She left the life of the hunters when her family was murdered. When two gods come to her for help, will she take a chance for revenge and join the hunt again?

This promises to be a fantastic new book from the author of The Darkest Minds series. Make sure you add this to your TBR. Coming January 2021.

I am excited for the full release of this book! The preview introduced us to such a diverse cast of characters, each feeling very fleshed out, and the world building mythos and motivations of the main character Lore, come together effortlessly. From the few chapters available, I was instantly immersed into this world and cannot wait to continue the story.

I‘m a total sucker for anything Greek mythology, so I was beyond excited for the opportunity of being able to read this sampler early!

The concept is super interesting and a nice twist on the myths, and I‘m definitely very excited to see where the story will take us. I love the idea of families of hunters that descend from the great Greek heroes seeking to kill the gods. The prose is pleasant to read and the MC Lore is a strong woman working through trauma, both aspects I very much enjoy seeing in YA literature.

On a more shallow note, the cover is absolutely gorgeous - I‘m excited to go pick this up once it comes out!

We are so incredibly hyped up for this book! What torture to have to wait! We are new fans to Braken’s writing and are excited to read more of her work.

Mythology, especially Greek & Roman is a huge passion for us. Mix that with contemporary fantasy and put in a dark twist? You have a recipe for a book we are pretty much guaranteed to love.

Though this was just a sampler we were very grateful to get our hands on it. It has lived up to what we wanted it to be. Looking forward to more!

Thank you Netgalley for this advanced sampler!
I loved the world building and the action and concept of this story intrigues me!
While I enjoy the idea of this story I felt like it was quited rushed and maybe a little sloppy.
I am not sure if it is a book I will pick up again butI am glad I got the chance to read this sampler.

This book was already on my highly anticipated list. It will, without a doubt, be one of my first purchases of 2021 - and I had decided as much when I first read the blurb. I love greek gods anyway and I love this concept. It's like the Hunger Games, except with greek gods. Here. For. It.

Now that I have read this sampler, I am even more eager than ever to get my hands on this book!

Lore is, quite clearly, a badass. An unstoppable, strong female character. One of my favourite types of main characters. Then you have her best friend Miles - he's already my favourite. Crazy loyal to his best friend and loves Mickey pancakes? My kind of person. Miles is coming across as the cinnamon roll everyone is going to love and want to protect at all costs.

I am so excited for this book to come out. Powerful characters, an enticing plot and gorgeous, easy to read prose. What's not to love?

Release day cannot come soon enough.

I just finished the chapter sampler for 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑒 by Alexandra Bracken, a Greek mythology inspired novel coming in January 2021. Not only does it have an absolutely stunning cover, but the sampler has only increased my interest immensely! 𝐿𝑜𝑟𝑒 tells the story of a girl pulled from hiding as a great game of the Gods kicks into play again, once every seven years. She's fierce, independent, and a little broken, but I think we all are. I can see myself in her, especially with the way 2020 has been going. Not only that, but she's not cowed by beings of power so when one of the gods is found literally on her doorstep, she has to find a way to remain hidden (and alive) from the new gods vying for power, power that only she might be able to provide as the last of her line.

On top of it all, there are some really interesting power plays at work and some fascinating side characters such as Lore's best friend who has no concept of the Greek game at work. Which only makes the reader wonder just how clueless is the rest of the world to what is going on?

With only a couple chapters, I am seriously so HYPED for this book!

I loved this excerpt! I had forgotten how much I like Alexandra Bracken's writibg. The second I saw this available in Negalley, I knew I had to have it. It's the best greek mythology based book I've read since Percy Jackson. This book has a lot of promise and I will be sure to pick it up when it releases in 2021!
