DK books are usually an auto-buy for our children's collection, and Greek Mythology is always a hot topic. This version is starts with the creation of the world, and goes a bit chronologically through the major events in Greek Mythology. The major Gods and Goddesses are covered, as well as some of the Titans, heroes, monsters and notable humans. The cover is darker than usual for mythology books, which lends a more mature feeling to the book, and should appeal to older middle grades, although the tone of the writing seems aimed at younger middle grade. The art inside also seems to be the new style of DK illustration. This is a nice beginner edition.

I was actually really impressed with this book. First of all, the illustrations are stunning. Let's just get that out of the way. Second, it recounted the stories of Greek mythology in a very accessible way while also not dumbing it down, which can sometimes happen in children's nonfiction. I was really captivated by the stories. I'm not nearly as well versed in Greek mythology as I would like to be, and this book kind of lit a fire under me and got me really interested in the topic. It was nice to put the stories I am already familiar with in perspective while also discovering many new stories as well.

After reading this book (in one sitting, may I add) I spent a couple of hours watching YouTube videos on Greek mythology, particularly on my two new favorite myths: Artemis & Orion and Eros & Psyche. I also really liked the story of Atalanta. I've got a few mythology books on hold at the library now, too. I would definitely recommend this book to kids interested in mythology. Honestly, I'd recommend it to adults, too.

Thanks to DK Publishing and Netgalley for the review copy.

Greek Myths gives the reader the right amount of information to the reader to be intrigued but not feel they are reading a text book. The snapshots of the Gods/Goddesses and Greek characters was a perfect taste to help the reader understand the basic Greek Myths or intrigue the reader to dive deeper.
I felt this book would be a good place for a reader to start if they are to read books like Circe, The Song of Achilles, or other fiction books with Greek Mythology influence.
The illustrations were phenomenal. They helped the reader visualize the Myths as well as get a good understanding of Greek art.
The only criticism I would have is that some of the stories were a little long and elaborate, which could make the reader lose interest as the other parts of the book are one page snap shots.
I really enjoyed this book and I think many other people looking for a quick run down of basic Greek Mythology will too.

Really cool to see the all of the Greek Myths compiled to go along with an Ancient Civilizations lesson on the Greeks! Would be a great living book for homeschool to learn about Ancient Greece. Or for the kid that is obsessed with Rick Riordan! However, this book is definitely for upper elementary and middle grades. It will help bring history to life, but these are Greek Myths - and while some parts are glossed over - they're still not always pretty! This is not Disney's Hercules, it is the actual Greek Myths in language appropriate for children.

The illustrations are very cool and bring the text to life in an artful way!

4 mythical stars!

In the vein of D'Aulaire's Greek Myths, DK's Greek Myths is a thorough text that introduces young readers to the gods, goddesses, heroes, and stories of the ancient Greeks. While missing some of the charm of the D'Aulaires' version, mythology enthusiasts will find this book extremely detailed and enjoyable. The charts of gods and goddesses will be especially enjoyed by young mythology lovers. A perfect companion text for any elementary or middle school student who loves Rick Riordan. A must-buy for school libraries. Ages 8-14

DK's book for children, Greek Myths, was a wonderful introduction to Greek mythology. It discussed the gods individually, telling relevant stories to each, and listing what they were known for. Besides the gods and goddess it told the stories about the Greek heroes such as Odysseus and Jason. It summarized their stories into a much shorter story, still with plenty of detail.
This book was great for an introduction to, or a refresher look at Greek mythology. The stories were presented well and the illustrations were beautiful.

I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.
