Unfortunately I was unable to get in to this story and had to put it down. I'm sure for all larger Thriller fans than myself, however, it was a highly loved book and appreciated by the right readers.
Quick, easy mysterious read. It’s a bit slow to start but definitely picks up. I would try this author again.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Victoria Jenkins for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Jenna and her friends are on the way home from getting a drink and hear "help me"! Jenna finds out the woman has been stabbed, and also sees a man fleeing from the scene. The tables turn on Jenna quickly, the she is now being accused of stabbing the victim. Jenna's world falls apart all around her as the police investigate. Meanwhile, Jenna's husband is also getting letters saying his wife cannot be trusted. Their relationship is extremely strange to say the least. I usually like reading about crazy marriages and crazy outcomes, so I did enjoy this aspect of the novel. This was a quick, easy read for me, and kept me on the edge of my seat at times. I did highly enjoy it. 4 stars.
This book had me gripped from the opening paragraph!.
Jenna finds herself being framed for a crime she didnt commit, and whilst trying to unravel the reasons behind her being accused, her own secrets start to come to light.
A truly addictive, compelling read. The story is paced to perfection, making it almost impossible to put down. The perfect psychological thriller.
I’ve read many of Jenkins’ novels and they always appeal to me and never fail me. Jenna is our protagonist in this outing and helps an assaulted women in a park late at night. She even goes to the hospital with her. Everything changed the next day when the victim, Charlotte, claims Jenna is her attacker. What? Jenna denies the accusations and gets deeper and deeper into a conspiracy that threatens her marriage and family. With no other choice, Jenna has to discover why. Jenna tells us in two timelines the real story.
I really enjoyed this book and will give it a huge thumbs up. With a great story line and excellent main characters - I would highly recommend this book.
This book packed a punch from the beginning . It was a gripping and addictive story line and had me wondering how it was going to end
Jenna's life is turned upside down when she tries to save a stabbing victim on her way home from a night out. She is soon accused of stabbing the victim herself and must fight to clear her name as well as save her marriage and keep her family safe.
The Accusation demonstrates how easy it is for life to fall apart and how secrets never stay hidden forever. There is a phrase 'no good deed goes unpunished' and this is certainly true for Jenna. An act of kindness, risking her own life to save a stabbing victim results in a nightmare situation. It is obvious that there is more to the accusation than just mistaken identity and Jenna becomes convinced that it is malicious.
Jenna is a likeable character and the use of first person narrative helps the reader to identify with her and feel anxious as the situation worsens. She is very human and realistic, making decisions amidst her own doubts and is is fianlly revealed that one decision was wrong but done for the right reasons.
There are several secrets that need to be exposed. I think most parents would identify with Jenna's situation of conflict with her teen over an older boyfriend and the animosity with her mother in law. Her husband has received notes which are gradually breaking down the trust in the marrriage so when this accusation occurs, he is confused and dounts Jenna's innocence.
I liked the way that Victoria Jenkins makes the reader wonder about characters' motivation and this allowed me to make plenty on incorrect guesses about the truth behind Jenna's family secrets.
The Accusation is an intriguing and entertaining psychological thriller that forces the reader to question how they would act in the same circumstances.
This book was so addictive. It kept my interest the whole way through. It was like being on a rollercoaster as such ,there was so many twists and turns. Imagine saving someones life and then being accussed of injuring her. I wasnt sure who to believe.
3-4 stars. This book was just okay for me. I struggled to finish, but was finally able. Although, I don’t think it was good as others by this author, I do think it had some good parts. I think maybe certain parts seemed a bit too much, as I just couldn’t get into it like I normally do books. It wasn’t as much as a psychological thriller as more of a drama, with some suspense thrown in. Overall, I think if you need a break from some of your overly disturbing books, this one would be a good one. You may be frustrate at times, but it’s worth finishing, in my opinion, I will read more by the author for sure, as I know some of her previous books have been amazing!
Having read The Argument earlier this year I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read Victoria Jenkins' latest novel. Yet again she has taken a believable situation and woven a more complicated tale around it. You hear someone calling for help and rather than not get involved Jenna runs to help. If only she had rung the police but not got involved!! Jenna is determined to protect her family and prove her innocence; nothing is really as it seems and yet again Victoria Jenkins introduces many twists and turns to her tale. Quite a page turner.
Three and a half stars for me, rounded up as I could not put it down.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Victoria Jenkins/Bookouture for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.
This is a fabulous read from Victoria Jenkins. I have enjoyed her previous books and this certainly lived up to my expectations. Jenna has been on a night out with her friends. On walking home through the park she hears a cry for help and comes across Charlotte. Charlotte is covered in blood and has been stabbed and Jenna thinks she sees a man running away. Jenna immediately calls for an ambulance and helps keep her alive, little realising what she has let herself in for. Jenna gives a statement to the police and goes home. The next day she decides to go to the hospital to see if Charlotte is recovering and then her nightmare begins because when Charlotte wakes up she accuses Jenna of being the person who stabbed her. Jenna’s life is then turned upside down and she is arrested and is under investigation for the brutal attack. Jenna is struggling with her home life as she and Damien, her husband, seem to be drifting apart and her eldest daughter Lily is seeing an older man and keeping secrets from her. The evidence starts stacking up against her especially when the knife, covered in blood that was used to stab Charlotte is found in Jenna’s shop. The story then follows Jenna’s past and present life and how she proves her innocence. This was an exciting read with so many secrets being revealed. A highly recommended book.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This Author is really great. I really loved this book. This tale was highly engrossing and highly recommendable!!
i was given this ARC by netgalley and publisher for an honest review and opinion
Jenna was out with some friends one night and comes across a woman that ends up being stabbed. after saving her life by preventing more bleeding and calling EMS, she goes to see her in the hospital. instead of a meeting of thanks, the woman screams at Jenna stating that she is the one that stabbed her.
Jenna is ended up being arrested for stabbing her even though she did not do it.
very good thriller than you are following to find out who did it.
Jenna Morgan is on her way home from a night out with her girlfriends when she decides to take a shortcut through the park. She hears someone shout out 'Help me' and sees a man running away. She rushes to help the woman who has been stabbed in the neck. The next day her nightmare begins as she is accused of stabbing the woman.
Why is the woman out to wreck her life, and what secrets does Jenna have?
This is the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a fast paced compelling read that I couldn't put down.
Highly recommended!
My thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for a copy of “The Accusation” by Victoria Jenkins for an honest review.
I found this to be a decent enough read , although I found quite a lot of the plot a bit implausible at times.
With enough twists and turns to keep you interested it makes for an easy read.
Nothing new so only giving it an average mark
Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of this book!
When I read about this book I was immediately drawn in.
Jenna saves a woman's life, only then the woman accuses her of being the one who stabbed her!
This is then the story of Jenna trying to prove her innocence, to the police and to her family.
I enjoyed this book, it was fast paced and in depth, it made me want to keep reading!
There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and trying to work out whether Jenna is who she seems and who Charlotte is.
I liked the ending and how the story ended up!
Would definitely recommend reading this!
I'll be honest, this book very much suffered from it's me and not you because I have been struggling with the racial unrest right now so a book where a white female is wrongly accused of a crime really just hit home for me.
That being said, Victoria Jenkins does craft a spectacular page turner with The Accusation. The opening scene was incredibly jarring. Our MC Jenna hears the blood curdling screams of a stabbing victim and immediately springs to action to help the poor woman as the assailant runs off. A frazzled Jenna just wants to relax when she gets home after everything she's been through. However, the next day, Jenna is accused of this heinous attack as the victim identifies her and not the assailant who escaped. With Jenna's whole world crashing down around her, who will believe her and who was the actual attacker?
The frustration that Jenna felt was palpable and relatable. She knew she was innocent but no one believed her. To make matters worse, Jenna's own family has been harboring secrets. I was very skeptical of her husband Damien especially as he seemed to distance himself more and more from Jenna.
Again, had I read this book during a different time, I think that I would've felt differently about it. I think that this is a good read, but unfortunately, it's not for me right now.
On her way home after an evening out with friends, Jenna Morgan takes a shortcut through the park. She hears a scream and sees a struggle between a man and woman. The woman calls out for help and Jenna rushes over to find the woman wounded and bleeding. As she comforts the woman while waiting for the ambulance, Jenna finds out that her name is Charlotte. After hanging around long enough to see Charlotte off to hospital, Jenna heads home to her husband, Damien, and her two children, Lily and Amelia. She's a bit undone by the events, but decides to check up on Charlotte at the hospital the next day. Jenna is stunned when Charlotte accuses her of being the one to have stabbed her. NO SPOILERS.
This was OK but I had a hard time mustering up the ability to care about Jenna or her situation. The whole scenario was so implausible and the characters mostly annoying. I have decided that I don't really care much anymore about domestic drama. The relationships between the characters are usually so full of secrets and lies, they never talk honestly with each other, they hide all sorts of things about their past, and I just don't like them. There were no surprises here if you, like me, read a lot of books in this genre. Most of the book is centered on the angst in Jenna's head and it takes forever to get to the point. It was a very quick read over a couple of hours but I had to stop myself from skipping large sections of inane details and Jenna's ruminations.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.
I do LOVE a psychological thriller and this book is exactly why! So many questions, so many twists, throw in a tonne of danger…. make you think you know what’s going to happen and then something completely different happens!
So Jenna is the main character in this book she has a little family of 2 daughters, Lily who’s 17 and Amelia who’s 8 and a husband called Damien.
Her and Damien seem to be slowly drifting apart with him acting different recently and her relationship with her eldest daughter Lily is a strained one when she finds out she’s been keeping secrets from her!
One night when Jenna leaves her friends late at night after an evening out she hears screaming from the local park when she takes a short cut home, and when she approaches, a woman has been brutally attacked! Jenna calls the emergency services and stays with her until they arrive. BUT when Jenna goes to check on the lady the next day in hospital, everything in her life changes when the lady screams ‘ITS HER’ and accuses her of being the attacker!
Jennas life turns up side down when she finds herself arrested and under investigation for the brutal attack!
Her life starts to unfold when she finds out her husband has been receiving notes from a stranger for a while and that her daughter is meeting a guy too old for her!
Jenna wants to prove her innocence and find out who’s done this to her and why…. but DID she do it? There is so much evidence against her that maybe the night of attack didn’t happen how she says!
Honestly a completely gripping thriller! This book threw in so many twists and turns that I completely wasn’t expecting! It really did make me question everything that Jenna was saying!
I really felt for Jenna, despite some of the choices she had made, all she wanted to do was keep her family safe! She may not have been the best wife recently but she tried her best to keep everyone together through the difficult times they faced!
I don’t want to talk too much about the other characters, but let’s just say there are some characters who are dangerous, vindictive, manipulating and need help!
A fast paced thriller with the police chasing down evidence to prove Jenna is guilty with her investigation running at the same time to prove her innocence!
An exciting, gripping, fast paced, action filled thriller, one not to be missed! It has to be 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ from me
