I never repeat the blurb. This was pretty good...why has Jenna been accused? What's going on? How can a life unravel so fast and what secrets is everyone hiding? Definitely worth a look.

Stars: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A wrongful accusation and an ending you won't see coming!

PLOT SUMMARY:
Jenna is cutting through the park near her home one night when she hears a woman calling for help. She immediately sees that the woman has been stabbed, so calls the ambulance and stays with her until the medics and police arrive. Feeling quite proud of herself for helping, she is shocked when the next day she is accused of assault...the woman says that Jenna attacked her. What is going on? Why would this woman accuse her when she was only trying to help? And what secrets will be revealed once the investigation begins?

PROS and CONS:
I enjoy everything that Victoria Jenkins writes…her books are sure to include a major twist that will have you questioning everything you have just read, and those are always super fun to read. Get ready to be shocked.

Jenna is a character you can cheer for...an involved mother with a domineering mother in law and a distant/judgemental husband - I just wanted her to catch a break! There are characters you’ll be frustrated by (Damian), annoyed by (Nancy), curious about (Charlotte) and care for (Jenna, Lily and Amelia). With other side characters also included on Jenna’s quest to prove her innocence, there’s plenty of directions this could have gone...

The ending does come somewhat out of left field, but it’s good to sometimes just let yourself go with the flow and see where the ending takes you, rather than trying to figure out everything on your own.

YES or NO:
It’s a YES - if you’re looking for a lightning quick read with a fun twist, then this is the one for you!

This was a quick read with an okay premise. Nothing really stood out, which, I suppose, means it couldn't have been all bad.

The Accusation is a tale of twists and turns.

Jenna stops to help a stabbing victim in the park and ends up being accused of being the culprit. So much for being a concerned citizen only trying to help.

You cross your fingers and hope that Jenna can figure this out before she is locked away in prison.

Then the secrets start to submerge. Little by little.

Some nice characters , some to hiss at it.

The pages will turn quickly and you will be at the end before you know it.

An entertaining read, I always enjoy Victoria Jenkins books and this is no exception.

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for a great read.

What a brilliant book, so well written with such interesting characters, I loved every word on every page.

I particularly enjoyed how this author kept me interested in this book with so many twists and turns I didn't know how it would finish.

I can recommend this book and I look forward to reading more from Victoria, well done.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read this fantastic book, a very worthy five stars from me.

This book already starts on a high. I had no idea how the story would develop and of course little by little I started putting things together and, as usual I was trying to guess how it would end. I thought it was easy. One plus one equals two, right? Only it seemed that I came up with three... Wrong again. ;)

The majority of the characters seems to be members of the liars club. Some telling lies to protect others, some wanting to hide their secrets, some combine both reasons. Telling a white lie will be excused, but these are more like the blackest of black lies.

Once again, not being honest only gets you so far. You can only hope, that once you come clean, your loved ones will be able to forgive you and let you into their heart completely again.

I loved this story. I loved the way the author managed to send me off in the wrong direction and to surprise me with the outcome. 5 stars.

Thank you, Victoria Jenkins and Bookouture

Last year [author:Victoria Jenkins|1053000] set the bar very high for herself with [book:The Argument|50367292] as it had one of the craziest and more surprising twists I've ever read (that I still remember about it several months later says a lot about it). With [book:The Accusation|53181834] she delivers another tense psychological/domestic suspense novel which parts of an idea I've always been scared of. What if you're accused of a crime you didn't commit?

From the beginning we know Jenna is not guilty of the crime she's been accused of but it's obvious she's hiding something and, although not as astonishing as THE TWIST I already mentioned, it wrapped the story in a pretty satisfying way and it left me wondering what would I have done if I had been in Jenna's shoes. I love when the main character is not all good or bad, black or white, but has several layers making it likable in spite of its flaws. And that is the case here with Jenna. You could agree more or less with her decision, you could argue she didn't do the correct thing, but in any case you couldn't fault her for it.

Quick and twisty read that proves once more that Victoria Jenkins is a name to watch in the psychological suspense genre.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

With this book, the author has again produced another gripping and suspenseful story! It focusses on Jenna Morgan, who after helping a woman who had been attacked was accused by the victim of being her attacker! Obviously, we know that Jenna didn’t do it but why would the woman, who she had never met before, accuse her of such a terrible crime. Following the accusation, Jenna’s life begins to crash down around her, and she fights hard to work out what is going on.

This is definitely one of those books where you’re not quite sure which characters to believe and which ones have something to hide. Jenna didn’t attack the woman that night, we know that much, but as the book moves on it becomes apparent that she is hiding something. Little pieces of information are dropped into the storyline as you read and you begin to understand what is going on. Despite having the feeling that Jenna was holding something back, I quite liked her character and did feel for her with what was going on. I really didn’t like Jenna’s husband, Damien though! His lack of support for her when she needed him most just proved my judgement of him was right! As the story moves on to its conclusion, all of the secrets coming flooding out. Whilst I had an idea what was going to happen, I didn’t get all of it right and I completely didn’t expect the twist in the tale!

As this author has shown in this book and previous ones, she’s very good at creating a tantalisingly slow and steady build up to the story, capturing our attention and holding our interest until suddenly the pace changes!! When this happened, the suspense was pushed up high and I could feel the tension from the characters setting my nerves on edge! I found myself turning the pages quickly to find out how it was all going to end! This definitely was a very enjoyable and gripping thriller, which I would definitely recommend!

This was an enjoyable read, centered around Jenna, a married mother of 2 who saves a woman's life when she is walking through the park on her way home from drinks with friends, but in turn gets blamed for committing the crime. This was a unique plot line that really made me think of how I would handle a situation like that, and how scary it would be to be in that situation.

Jenna herself was mostly likeable but did frustrate me at times, mostly around her distrust of people around her. The story had some good twists and turns, and I thought Jenna showed a lot of grit in her drive to prove her innocence. I thought the ending of the story was good, though I did have a hard time understanding why Jenna did what she did when her secret came out, and felt like it almost wasn't as big of a deal as the book made it out to be because there were so many ways she could have handled it better.

All in all, this was a good domestic suspense story that will keep you guessing. The loose ends were pretty well tied up and the book was fast paced overall.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the author’s previous books and this story didn’t disappoint at all.
What would you do if someone that you tried to help and safe her life would blame you for her attack?
A fast-paced read with many twists and turns, many secrets to unveil and some interesting characters.
I’m not sure if I agree with all the Take the problem in your own hand if you want to find the truth as it’s the case here and in many books that I’ve read lately but it’s interesting to see how the author created an in the unlikely event story.
Another must-read from a must-read author.

I literally could not put this book down. It is so addictive and twisty and dark I just had to know more and more. It flowed brilliantly without any “padding” and everything ties up nicely at the end.

This is my first read of Victoria Jenkins but I will be seeking out any others she has had published. This was a gripping twisted read.

Jenna is walking home from a night out with friends. She has been drinking and hears a cry for help and, probably because she has had a few drinks, she runs towards the voice to find a crumpled bleeding figure although she sees a man running away.

Jenna called emergency services and was talked thorugh saving the woman’s life. However, the next day when she visits her in hospital the woman accuses Jenna of the attack.

This is where the secrets and lies begin. The case against her starts to build and Jenna is hiding something which somebody knows and wants to make her pay. As well as this she suspects her husband of having an affair and her teenage daughter is rebellious. Jenna feel she is losing grip and needs to find out the truth.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and Victoria Jenkins for my ARC of ‘The Accusation’ in return for my honest review.

Great read and recommended.

While walking home, after a night out with friends, Jenna hears a female yelling for help. Feeling less inhibited because of the drinks she had at dinner, Jenna runs in the direction of the noise and sees a man fleeing a figure who is crumpled and bleeding on the ground. Jenna calls emergency services and is instructed how to administer aid to save the woman’s life. The next day Jenna visits the woman in hospital only to have the injured woman start screaming as soon as she sees Jenna’s face. The victim is now saying that Jenna was the one who attacked her.
Jenna is keeping secrets. Could her secrets have anything to do with why this woman is accusing her of a crime she did not commit?
I liked that Jenna started questioning people because she knew the only way to find the truth, was to uncover it herself. I enjoyed the pace and characters.

Thank you to Victoria Jenkins, Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC.

A well paced, domestic suspense thriller with a twist you will not see coming! I loved how the story starts off as a "what if" and is told by both past and present Jenna. This was a great quarantine read!

A great solid read overall, nothing unique in a popular genre however. Thank you for the chance to review it.

I was given a copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I read this book in one day. I really enjoyed it! It reminded me of a Lifetime movie in all the best ways. I am taking away a star because I hate the literary device of the narrator having a Big Secret but doesn't share it with the reader but other than that, I really liked this book. It wasn't too long, the ending tied up nicely, I didn't cringe at the heroine's choices or inner monologue, the Big Secret works (although it could've been revealed sooner and it wouldn't hurt anything)- this is a great novel for a beach read or a lazy hammock day.

Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Good storyline, good characters and basically an enjoyable read.

I think readers would enjoy this book because the idea/plot is so unique. What if you witnessed something terrible happen to someone, and rushed to help the injured person - only for her to accuse you of being the attacker? That idea is a whole new approach to the “what if” and “who did it” type of books. It was a very intriguing book that kept me guessing “who” and “why” from beginning to end. I think other readers would enjoy it as well because the author did a superb job of weaving details in and out of their story at just the right times. As soon as you think you’ve gotten it all figured out, a new piece of information will come up that you most likely wouldn’t have considered.
Plot: Jenna is out at night with her friends to celebrate a birthday. It was a calm, laughable, and fun evening. Jenna left the party earlier than her friends, so she left alone. On her walk home, she sees someone stab a woman and she rushes over to help her. At least, that’s what Jenna claims happened. By the time the paramedics got there and took over, Jenna was covered in the woman’s blood because she tried to stop her from bleeding to death. From that moment on, her life will never be the same. Prior to that night, her family life had been far from perfect. She was suspicious about her husband and the possibility that he was having an affair. He was suspicious of her for his own reasons - some secrets will come out whether you want them to or not, so he was questioning the secrets his wife was keeping too. The oldest daughter, at 17, was being rebellious, secretive, and proving to be untrustworthy by hiding and denying a relationship with a man significantly older than her. Everyone involved had a secret, so at what length would they go to cover it up? Was it a coincidence that the woman accused Jenna of the attack? If not, who framed Jenna by further making it look like she was involved? Jenna’s marriage was already strained as it was, so did she attack Charlotte, the victim, because she thought her husband was cheating with her? Her teenage daughter was unruly and was seeing a man much older than her, so did she find out that he was seeing Charlotte and go after her? Was Jenna’s husband having an affair with Charlotte, and then attacked her because she was threatening to tell Jenna? Did the attack victim Charlotte have Jenna confused with someone else? There are so many “what ifs” and “whys” in this book that those are only a few of the obvious possible scenarios. The truths are much deeper and bigger though, with a shocking ending that will blow you away! The more secrets you try to hide, the bigger the fallout is when they are exposed...and the characters definitely all had a lot of secrets they tried to keep buried.
Thank you Bookouture, Victoria Jenkins, and Netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to preview this book! My review is voluntary, and is my honest opinion. I definitely recommend it and will be looking into others by Victoria Jenkins as well.
