Kim stone is back with another crime. This book deals with cults.
This is full of unexpected twists. It’s full of lies and manipulation.
A great book in the series

Sometimes (read always lol) I feel I am blessed when I look at my TBR pile and when I dig around in it and find a hidden gem like this one, it’s like it’s my birthday. There was me thinking I had read all of the books in the series up till now, but whoohoo I had another that must have slipped through the meshes of the net.

So what are my thoughts? Well, wow of course. This is once again such an incredible story and when Kim Stone is in da house, everything else must be put on the back burner

You hear about cults in the news every once in a while, but I always have the feeling it’s far from my bed, but I now realise it could easily be happening in my village too. It’s not very clear what is going on in those communities and the leaders are very charismatic and know how to reel people in. It reminds me of two lines of a song by The Eagles, Hotel California. It says ‘We are programmed to receive. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave’…

I admire the author for doing this research and I am glad I know more about how it all works. It makes me even fear those cults more.

I was not quite recovered from one shock when the earth moved again and again. As per usual a fantastic book wild horses could not drag me away from. 5 stars

Thank you

Installment 12 of the Detective Kim Stone series by bestselling author Angela Marsons Killing Mind, finds Stone, et al, investigating the supposed suicide of a young girl who slashed her own throat. Kim finds some inconsistencies and reclassifies it as murder. The crime scene has been cleared so much evidence has been lost. The investigation leads to a cult where the victim, Samantha Brown had been a previous member, but had left. Stone sends one of her officers, Tiff, to go undercover in the cult to find what is going on, since there has been another body that had ties with the cult. The undercover officer is befriended by Brittney Murray, who is a member of the cult and hands out fliers to recruit new members.

As is Marson’s style, the story is well-written with building suspense from the beginning. There are twists and turns as well as several subplots relating to Kim’s team. The characters are well-developed, and even those who haven’t read the previous novels will be able to relate to Kim, her partner, Bryant, and the others that help in the investigation. The author has done her research, and even though this is fiction, there is interesting information on cults and it rings true to what most people wonder about.

All told, this is another interesting installment in the excellent Detective Kim Stone series. Most readers will want to read the previous novels as well as the subsequent ones to come. Recommended for those who like thrillers that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Another very good and highly gripping read in the series. Every case seems to grip me just as much as the previous one.

I absolutely love Angela Marson’s books and this one didn’t disappoint. I love Kim’s character and how she interacts with her team. The chapters are only a couple of minutes long, but it keeps you reading ‘just one more’. I never guess who the murderer is, and I didn’t with this one either. Angela’s way of writing keep you on your seat from the first chapter. I can’t wait for the next Kim Stone instalment, I love these books and would highly recommend them. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! Thank you for accepting my request, and I look forward to the next one.

Killing Mind Did Samantha Brown commit suicide? DI Kim Stone has her doubts, especially when the manner of death is considered. As the investigation deepens, evidence of a cult called Unity Farm is involved one way or another. Meanwhile, Bryant becomes embroiled in a previous case when it comes to someone that might be released from prison, which is something Bryant is desperately fighting. He is certain that if the man is released, he will kill again. Side note: I loved that Bryant's wife Jenny is a diamond painter, which is one of my favorite hobbies.

The 12th Kim Stone novel is just as good as the previous 11. Is Samantha's death a suicide or a murder? Chilling and gripping, I read this in one sitting.

#12 in the Detective Kim Stone series.

A young girl is discovered in her home lying neatly on her bed with her throat slashed and a blood stained knife resting in her hand, there are no signs of a struggle or forced entry into her home.
Nothing appears to be out of place or disturbed in any way.
With no other clues or indicators of foul play, DI. Kim Stone and pathologist Keats are inclined to agree that her death is by her own hand and should be ruled as suicide.

Still, Kim has an uneasy feeling about it but can’t put her finger on anything to justify any another explanation.
It’s not until she is at the home of the victim’s parents that her uneasiness gets stronger as she gets the feeling that they are not being completely open with her.
She notices a photograph and something in that photo makes Kim suddenly realize that she has made a horrible mistake…This is not a suicide, it’s a murder.

Further pressure on the parents results in discovering that their daughter had only recently been extricated from a retreat known as Unity Farm, though the descriptions make it sound more like a cult farm than a retreat.
As investigations get underway, another body, a young man, is found in a lake with his throat cut also and is now linked to the other murder, though it is not known how long he has been in the water.

With little evidence to go on and no witnesses, investigations start to stall and Kim and her team are running ragged trying to piece things together.
The parents of the deceased girl are being evasive, and the people at Unity Farm are also being unhelpful.
A young female constable is sent to act as an undercover to gain entry into Unity Farm in order to locate another missing girl and any other information. This was a very risky move and soon becomes worrying as contact is lost.

Kim’s right hand man Bryant is distracted with an old case that requires his attention and things are getting heated as time is not on their side.

Wow! Another nail biting page turner from Angela Marsons! Always a treat to read.

5⭐️’s Highly recommended reading.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture publishers for my copy to read and review.

4 Stars!!

I'm new to the Kim Stone series, but, I'm in love! I love Kim and her team and their witty banter! Add in a good murder and I'm already waiting for the 13th installment!

This storyline was pretty cool. A former cult member commits suicide or did she?!? Enter interesting characters and a peek into cult life. No spoilers here, you'll have to read it yourself.

Looking forward to going back and readying the first eleven books in the series!

A special thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Angela Marsons for providing me with an ARC.

I’ve read and loved all if Angela Marsons books to date and loved them all and I’d recommend reading them in order to get the full feel of them as there is a common thread through them all and you get a better sense of the characters and their relationships with each other as the series progresses.
Killing Mind is #12 in the series and Detective Kim Stone finds Samantha Brown lying in bed with her throat slit and a knife in her hand and as there is no sign of forced entry or a struggle it looks like a suicide but when Kim meets with Samantha’s parents she finds them very evasive and her gut tells her they are hiding something thus begins a case which takes us in the dark and dangerous world of cults and predators. A compelling read that is written in Angela’s unique style that keeps you completely hooked from beginning to end!!!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Angela Marsons for the ARC of killing Mind my review is honest and unbiased.

DI Kim Stone is one of my favorite police procedural series & Marsons never disappoints!

Book 12 takes us into the dark, predatory and disturbing world of cults which always intrigues me. As Kim delves deeper into an apparent suicide that isn't sitting right with her, she finds herself connecting other murders and frantically looking for a killer with cult connections.

The mystery is great - they always are, it's Marsons. But what makes these books for me are the recurring characters - Kim and her team. Honestly, I can't say it enough - they have become like friends I know over the course of the series. You become so invested in them and Marsons knows how to continuously develop her characters while always giving us fresh layers and fresh cases to uncover.

If you haven't read this series - you must! I can't recommend it highly enough to do it justice.

One of the best detective series I have ever read and this being the 12 book in the series I am thrilled that Marsons keeps the story lines fresh and page turning! A brilliantly creative series that always leaves me wanting more!

When the body of 21 year old Samantha Brown is found DI Kim Stone at first is convinced that it's a clear case of suicide but after taking a closer look at the crime scene photos changes her mind to murder . When another victim is found with similar wounds Kim and her team find all the clues lead to Unity Farm, a cult retreat for people seeking an alternative way of life . It’s up to Kim and her team to uncover the truth before any new victims are targeted by the cult .

Killing Mind by Angela Marsons is the 12th book in the DI Kim Stone series by author Angela Marsons. An outstanding series, this one continues along the same lines, an exciting well written, tightly plotted, intense thriller with well -developed characters that kept me hooked to the end. Cannot wait for the next one !

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
