Great read which is thought provoking and keeps you guessing- great twist at the end. The main character reminded me of elenor oliphant. Would recommend

Try as I may, I couldn't get into this book. The plot felt very repetitive & there was nothing new happening until the very end. When downloading this book I thought this was about a stalker & was keen to see what new devious way of stalking would be unleashed. I went in expecting cunning, creepy stuff & all I got was a girl too obsessed with the past. Francesca's sister was the victim of a horrible incident while at school & this fact is re-iterated so often I just didn't see the point of it. It took a very very long time to get interested in the story & when I found out that the story is going somewhere I was 80% in. Although I finished the book I felt that was way too late. The plot was good but the construction of it was slow for me. The characters were good & I surprisingly (kind of) liked Francesca but she was going at a pace way too slow for me.

I loved this book, couldn’t even begin to guess where it was going and it sort of plodded along but I loved it and it was a great story with characters you either love or hate. Super read

You and Me, Nicola Rayner's latest release, is a slow-burning twisty mystery amid the backdrop of a quiet village in the U.K. Mid 30s, single and quirky-Fran spends her days working in the local bookstore, her nights with her cat and her thoughts of the past. Younger sister Ellie is living abroad and while the sister had a falling out they communicate through social media and email. Fran, growing up attending a prestigious boarding school due to her mother's job, pines over the boy from school who got away. Seeing him from a distance she has kept close tabs on him until one night she's witness to a horrible accident and sees it as a way to possibly grow close to him. Unwittingly she's growing close to unraveling the mysteries of the past that threaten her future.

While the pace is slow in the beginning, it serves to build up to the startling twist and then continues at breakneck speed. A solid mystery with a flawed protagonist and cast of interesting characters.

Fran has been obsessed with Charles since her boarding school days. The same school where she she was an outcast and bullied. To this day, Fran still likes to keep track of Charles, in an unhealthy way. As she continues a solitary life waiting for her sister and niece to return, she watches as one of her tormentors from boarding school falls to his death in front of a train. Did he fall or was he pushed? She is scared to come forward because she was following Charles at the time. Can’t say much more because I don’t want to reveal the story!

A fast paced twisty thriller with a complex and engaging plot. Great read!

This book starts of slow, Fran is telling the story, she is a little bizarre, different, doesn’t really have friends, she is obsessed with Charles, from her school days and to say she has issues would be an understatement.
Fran witnesses a death at the start of the story, a school friend of Charles, Dickie, who tormented Fran at school and had hurt her sister Ellie. Charles is also present on the evening of Dickie’s death, but Fran feels she can’t admit to anyone she was there, it will seem odd and as if she is stalking Charles again.
The plot is revealed slowly as the events of the past unfold, the circle of school friends still exists, and Fran still doesn’t fit in. Where is her sister Ellie and her niece Rose.
The ending is dramatic and totally surprising.
A slow read and I wasn’t gripped by the story at any stage 3.5 stars

Wonderful. A dark and intriguing thriller set around the character of Fran. I can't call call her Freaky as that's part of the problem. Obsessive compulsive, dark drama. Did he fall or was he pushed? Excellent.

This had a very slow start and I almost gave up on unlikeable stalker Fran but I persevered and the last third of the book came through with twists and chills. Not a cheery read mind, but quite compelling in the end. The cover is pretty misleading though.

Fran is a loner, known by the cruel nickname Freaky Fran when she was at school she is the type of person who finds the real world difficult to be in. She would to prefer to live in her little book world, surrounded by all her favourite characters. She doesn’t have many people she can talk to in the real world. Her mother is dead, her sister and niece estranged and has a sometime distant relationship with an old school friend. One who knows about her extremely concerning obsession with another old school friend Charles. This isn’t an obsession that takes place across social media platforms. This is one where she watches his home and place of work but when he starts to make contact, after the death of another from school she starts to feel that she is happier with the image she has in her mind rather than the reality.

I liked Fran a lot and had a lot of sympathy for her. She definitely didn’t handle her predicament well, it would take a very strong person to admit they had seen a death whilst they were stalking somebody else. I wanted to know more about her sister and why they argued and I wanted her to be able to relax and start to realise who her friends were.

This is a crime novel but it also concerns mental health and a few other medical conditions that it would be difficult to reveal without spoilers. There is a heart to the storyline that shows you never know what is behind certain actions.

There were plenty of twists, none of which I saw coming but it did all work surprisingly well. It’s well written, a great storyline with some decidedly unpleasant characters and an interesting account of a job in a bookshop. I would definitely read more by this author.

Woah creep alert 😂

Fran, is very strange and also very obsessed with a guy called Charles, Charles though is with Fiona, and that’s a problem. Fran is seriously stalkerish and the book was really just creepy haha defo 10 on the creeper scale!

It was great, the twist is a killer and I didn’t see it coming, I felt so sorry for Charles who was always very polite with her and he had no idea just how crazy and obsessed she was with him!

It’s a fab book and I hope to read more like it 😃

Fran, or should I say, Freaky Fran has had an unhealthy crush on Charles since they went to school together. She’s now in her 30s, works in a bookshop and lives alone. She continues to follow Charles and one night while stalking him she witnesses a tragedy. At the tube Charles and their friend Dickie wait for a train and suddenly Dickie slips and is hit. Did he slip or was he pushed? The only family Fran has left is her sister Ellie and her daughter Rose but Fran has never meet the child and she hasn’t seen Ellie in 3 years. They talk on Facebook or by email. After Dickies death things get messy as Fran decides to kept it a secret she was also at the train station that night. I liked Fran overall but she’s is so weird and lonely that I did feel for her and wanted to know what was going on with her sister. She is not a reliable narrator and I couldn’t tell what was real at times. The book is pretty slow in the beginning but picks up speed towards the end. This book has made me really want to read more by Nicola Rayner – it’s a suspensful, addictive read about a socially awkward woman, called Fran, who witnesses an accident. Dickie, a man she used to go to school with (and didn’t get along with), falls in front of an underground train and is killed. Fran was only there at the time to watch (stalk) his best friend Charles, who she has been in love since she was a teenager. She starts to wonder if it was, in fact, truly an accident…

You and Me feels like a pyschological thriller with plenty of mystery and twists, but has a protagonist who – although quite odd and makes some dubious decisions – I found to be likeable and interesting. She’s certainly unreliable at times, and there’s moments when what she admits to the reader sets alarm bells off – she is very intense and the way she behaves around Charles is very strange. However, I really felt for her, and I feel like the back story of the character was very well developed – the author did a great job of making me really care about Fran and what had happened to her sister. She’s the perfect mix – she could be hiding more than she lets on, but I was also really rooting for her!

The plot moves along at a great pace without feeling rushed, and though there are some points where you may have to suspend your disbelief a little, I found myself completely engrossed in the story.

You and Me is a real page turner, and I really enjoyed this exciting, entertaining read!

I was so excited to read Nicola Rayner's next book, and I wasn't disappointed. You and Me was brilliant! Nicola is a wonderful storyteller with a writing style that stands out from the generic 'thriller' crowd. Can't wait to read more of her work! One of the strangest thrillers I have read. Very slow to get going,lots of twists,some of which I had worked out. Complex and strange relationships abound.

You and Me by Nicole Rayner is a psychological thriller about a loner, Fran. She has always been obsessed with Charles, and she follows him occasionally to check up on him. This story did not end up where I thought it would, and it was rather depressing at times. Thanks to NetGalley for the free digital review copy. All opinions are my own.

After an interesting start, with a lonely girl and little family, this book took ages to get into. I am sorry to say that I struggeld and failed to finish it Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for the chance to review it.

This was a compelling thriller. Lots of twists and turns with some great characters that were true to life. The subject of the story was very realistic and the conclusion was excellent. Great read!

I had such high hopes for this book after reading the blurb.
I felt like the book dragged on and was quite slow paced. I nearly gave up a few time but I needed to know what happened to dickie and where Ellie had been all this time.
Once I got to 90% the book really picked up pace and I began to enjoy it. I really didn’t see the ending coming and back m glad I continued till the end.

This was a book that spent three quarters of it describing the life of Fran as a stalker and the life of Ella her sister who she no longer sees. I can fully understand why so much is dedicated to the past and the present descriptions about the sisters as it sets the background to the ending very neatly I personally felt that it was however too drawn out and would perhaps put people off continuing to read to the end. The book dribbles in small chunks what happened at boarding school and how it affected both girls.
After the very slow start the end is racy, unexpected and well written.

Unfortunately, I was unable to finish this book. After reading the summary and some of the early reviews, I looked forward to reading it this month with the rest of the thrillers, but found myself having difficulty staying connected to the characters and the plot. Potentially considered a slow burn, I needed something exciting to keep me interested in the book enough to make it through to the end.
