This is a great book to read to children if you want a creative way to teach children about Jesus. This cute little group of animal characters goes on holiday and learns about Jesus along the way. The illustrations are bright and beautiful. Children will be drawn in to the pictures, the character's personalities and the story.
This is a great addition to a child's library as well as for a sunday school reading. There is a great little moment to learn about welcoming people and hospitality.
The publisher made a copy of this book available via netgalley. The opinions here are mine.
Delightful!
Part of a great series for young children exploring bible narration and teachings through story, extending the heart of Christian principles for children.
A group of lovable animal characters, including Caravan Bear, Christopher Rabbit and Whitby the dog, reflecting a combination of Toad of Toad Hall and Winnie the Pooh, have various adventures as they go off on caravanning adventures. Delightfully whimsical, the situations the animals face provoke relevant biblical events, becoming a charming resource for encouraging children in their understanding of biblical tenets. I'm adding this series to my list of presents for age appropriate children of years 5-10 or so.

This is a cute story about a group of animals traveling together and learning about Jesus from Christopher Rabbit. I liked how each animal brought a different perspective to the stories. The chapters did get a bit long for the kids it's likely targeting. I'd say this book be be good for 5-10 year olds.
Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book for my honest opinion.
The story is a retelling of bible story, creating a conversation between friends. I understand that the author wanna make it relatable, but sometimes it make it just.. hm, idk, kinda flat? Cause there are some question that would leave hanging
What Jesus Did by Avril Rowlands is a unique take on sharing Bible stories with children. Christopher Rabbit loves his Bible and sharing the wonderful stories found within with his friends. Whenever he is with Hector the Horse, Caravan Bear, Whitby and the others, Rabbit shares the wonders of Jesus, everything he is capable of and how much he loves us. Children will enjoy hearing these stories along with the animal friends.
One of the best things about this book is the discussion and questions the characters have about the stories. They are genuine queries and comments that children (and adults) might have about the amazing events of the Bible. Together, they puzzle through the tough questions and come to clear conclusions about Jesus’ love and care. Each section ends with Rabbit praying a short prayer for those around him, internalising and personalising the stories.
Through these stories, children are able to see faith in action and a practical application of the stories with links to everyday life. They may develop confidence to share the Bible and their faith with their friends.
What Jesus Did is just one of The Animals’ Caravan series by Avril Rowlands. Other books in this series include:
The Journey Begins
Stories Jesus Told
The Journey Continues

What Jesus Did by Avril Rowland is a children’s chapter book about four animal friends who go on holiday, meet new friends, and learn more about Jesus on the way. The characters, with their many personalities, learn to care and love each other, as well as their neighbors, like Jesus on their journey.
My favorite moments in the story were those in which the animals invited others to a meal at their caravan. It reinforces the idea of hospitality, the power of an invitation, and ultimately, the power of God’s Word. The illustrations were adorable and both my daughters liked seeing the animals in clothes.

Well written and engaging, as well as incredibly practical, you’ll come back to this book again and again. My children are a little young for it (3 & 1) but I’ll keep this in my back pocket for later!

This is a lovely book of stories for children to teach them about Jesus and God from the happenings in the stories. These stories are good for children as they encourage childrens thought processes and knowledge and understanding about Jesus and God.
I liked the concept of this book and I am sure that the final published version will look stunning with all the illustrations.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Lion Hudson for the e-arc copy to read and review.
What a cute concept, with these animal friends on their travels, celebrating things, meeting new friends and even hearing sad news about thing in their friends lives.
Everywhere they went Jesus was with them in Christopher Rabbits bible. At the end of their fun, he would sit down with everyone gathered and share a story that connected to what was happening to them that day. I really love the thought that was put into which story was chosen.
Each story told came with interruptions but each one was vital to the story, they’d ask about God, or Jesus or the disciples or comment on what was going on with them. I really liked the addition of these questions, wanting to delve in deeper and showing they were thinking about the story. It’s something children themselves do when you share a story with them.
This book is a really great book for sharing the story of Jesus and God to children. They come with a fun animal adventure story and a great lesson to learn, all while being fun and teaching of all the greatness Jesus did.
