There’s a very slim chance I’m ever going to say no to a cookbook that features cookies. And I very happy that I didn’t say no to this one.

100 COOKIES: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More, won my heart and stomach 100 times over. From traditional cookies and bars, to creations, and combinations I have never heard of, author Sarah Kieffer offers so many recipes for these sweet delights, that you’ll never run out of amazing treats for friends, family or yourself!

Starting with a long and very detailed introduction, you’ll not only learn a bit about the author, she offers baking advice and tips, standard ingredients that are needed for just about any cookies recipe, and the equipment you will use.

And then we’re on to the best part of the book, the cookies! Broken down into chapters on the different types of fabulous confections, checkout some of the major yums will find in 100 COOKIES. Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Brownie Cookies, Ginger Cookies, Shortbread, Swirl Brownies Two Ways, White Chocolate Red Velvet Brownies, Cinnamon Roll Brownies, Raspberry Rye Cookies, Banana Cream Pie Bars, Red Wine Cherry Cheesecake Swirl Bars, Smoky Butterscotch Cookies, Carrot Cake Bars with Meringue, Kitchen Sink Cookies, Caramel Bars with Candied Peanuts, Chocolate Malt Ice Box Bars, also Pastry Crème, Ermine Buttercream, Caramel Shards, and so, so much more!

There are some wonderful color photos that made my mouth water, as I’m sure they will yours. I believe there was one for each recipe, are at the least, most of the recipes. I was glad to see that. Cookbooks with no photos are a pet peeve of mine.

In closing, the author suggests Music to Bake To, offers a conversion list, and her resources.

All in all, 100 COOKIES: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More was fulfilling and left me sated.

I loved this book, the photography was really captivating, the instructions were clear and to the point, and while some of the cookie recipes I already have the ones that work for me, reading about the author experiences in developing her own or choosing a certain one were nice to read and felt like gushing with another person obsessed with baking. There were also recipes I didn't know and I'm eager to try my hand at making, some of which are: chocolate basil brownies; lavender cookies; rum raising cookies and a few more.
I think this book is very well done and thought out, I enjoyed reading it and I recommend it, specially for somebody who is trying to get into baking, because the author goes from the basic recipes and explains how to use some ingredients and why it works like that; and then later in the book even mixes some of them and create new ones.

As an avid cookie baker, I am always on the lookout for new cookie cookbooks. I am not, however, a fan of Instagram or food blogs, so I was unfamiliar with the author. I am very glad that she has made the transition from online to print, because this book is a delight!

Filled with luscious recipes that range from old favorites to brand new flavor combinations and techniques, there is something here for the novice to the experienced baker. Kieffer comes across as chatty, witty, and just plain fun. She doesn't take herself super-seriously, which is a flaw in most food bloggers and Instagrammers, and she approaches baking with precision blended with a heady dose of risk-taking.

I always appreciate a book that blends sumptuous recipes with an intelligent introduction and commentary that carries throughout the book. Kieffer's fondness for Shakespeare is apparent in the generous sprinkling of quotes throughout, making the book fun to read.

I don;t buy many cookbooks in print anymore, but I will be buying this one, along with a couple copies for family & friend bakers.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

Wow! The photographs of the cookies in this book make you want to try every recipe or at least taste every cookie! As I read this book, it was obvious to me that the author was from Minnesota. That alone made me optimistic as I know that Minnesota produces some great bakers. I recognized that I had once read an article in a local paper about the phenomenon of ‘pan banging’ during the baking process. Although I thought it unusual, I was eager to read this author’s explanation of that technique. To my delight, the author did an excellent job of explaining why and how ‘pan banging’ worked to make cookies crispy on the outside while chewy in the middle at the same time.

Each recipe has ingredients that are easily found in your pantry or on your grocer’s shelves. The recipes are clearly written and the results seem to be consistent if you follow the author’s directions. I had high expectations for this book and it did not disappoint. I cannot wait to try many of these recipes.

As a cookbook collector, this book deserves a place in my library.
Maybe it belongs in yours as well.

I love a good baking book. And what's more? Cookies are kind of my thing. I had heard of this 'pan-banging cookie' briefly and was delighted to see it featured here in 100 Cookies. The formatting of the recipes are easy to read, easy to follow, and a bit more stylized than what we've seen in the past. All of the photo's are beautifully edited and plentiful in number which is always a plus. There's something about knowing what it should look like versus what it ends up like in your kitchen that adds to the fun! To top it off, the music playlist included at the end was a personal touch that not many authors would think of. I can't wait to dive in deeper and start experimenting with more of these recipes! 100 Cookies will definitely be on your 'gift idea' list this holiday season!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a wonderful, fun cookbook! I had great success with all the recipes I tried. I really like the way the recipes were organized, too. It makes it easy to find what you're looking for, whether it's one of the comfort classics or a show-stopper that's a bit more challenging. I also really appreciate that all of the recipes have photos! I am such a visual person when it comes to recipes and it helps me to know what the end product will look like.

I loved this cookbook. It included so many recipes of old favorites and so many things I had never dreamed of. The Blondie recipes were the best! I really appreciated all the tips at the front and the recommended music to listen to while baking at the end.

This is a great cookbook for the cookie basics with beautiful pictures to accompany most of the recipes. I love how it's categorized from the basics Classics to the more difficult Mix and Match and Time to Play recipes. I don't think there are any revolutionary recipes that make you need this book, but if you want beautifully organized recipes all in one place, this book is great!

This book is amazing! This book has so many delicious and unique cookie recipes! The pictures alone make you want to try every single type of cookie in this book! I tried the marshmallow peanut butter brownies and they were gone in less than 24 hours in my hours! The ingredients and steps laid out for each recipe are easy to follow and the author provided different variations for several recipes. This is must-have baking cookbook for any kitchen!

This was fabulous!
A picture for nearly every recipe (always a check in the plus column!) and so many new treats.
I tried out the Snickerdoodle, shortbread and sugar cookie recipes with tasty success!
I did not have all the ingredients for the créme brulée cheesecake bars so (sadly) that will have to wait till I brave the grocerymart.
Much love to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for my delicious DRC.

Thanks to NetGalley for the free and very yummy book. It's a beautiful book, one that would be much better as a paper book. NetGalley recipe and craft books have to be read in Adobe Digital editions, which just sucks. So there was no easy flipping around. The introduction was interesting and informative, and then I got to the recipes, which sounded really good. The only thing is, they all say things like "will keep for up to two days" which seems odd, since biscuits really are fine for longer than that, and I can't eat 20 biscuits in 2 days (I mean I could, but I probably wouldn't enjoy it that much!) I've made one recipe so far, the Brownie Cookies. the recipe was well written and the biscuits were very tasty. I'll be making more of these recipes, and would consider buying the paper book for myself or to give as a gift.

Every time I see a new cookie cookbook, I cringe – just how many kinds of cookies and brownie recipes does one person need? It seems every cookie cookbook has all of the basics, and plenty of recipes for banal, unexciting variations. However, every once in a while a true cookie connoisseur comes out with a cookbook that features unique, innovative recipes. 100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen, with Classic Cookies, Novel Treats, Brownies, Bars, and More, Sarah Kieffer’s latest cookbook, is different from the norm, and bakers will find that almost every recipe is one that they want to try. It’s interesting that Kieffer is a self-taught baker – one of us (albeit exceedingly talented) – and works on her recipes until they turn out how she wants them, which, after baking from this excellent book, is also how I want them.

The regulars are here: chocolate chip cookies (three ways), Snickerdoodles, Dozens of brownies, chocolate, gooey, cakey, swirled, and blonde, as well as several kinds of bars, and over-the-top fancies to blow guests away. New, innovative cookies and bars that are mouthwatering are included, such as Grapefruit Cake Bars, Citrus Pie Bars, and Lemon oat bars. There are swirled cookies, macarons, and fillings and frostings. The instructions are easy to follow, and suitable for both beginning and experienced bakers. There are enough cookie choices to keep home cooks happy and baking for months.

This cookbook also includes one of the most important aspects – beautiful photographs. It’s no fun to try to bake something that you aren’t sure what it is supposed to look like.

If you are looking for a good book full of mouthwatering, delicious cookies, this is the one you want to pick up.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I've baked 3/100 of these cookies, and honestly... I plan to bake all 100. These are foolproof, easy, and there's something to suit every taste.

<b> I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. </b>

Its cookies(and more!)! Do you need to know more than that? There are so many good recipes I can´t even choose my top 10! Buy it and try all of them, I definitely recommend it in this quarantine time when all you should be doing is staying home and baking.

100 Cookies features a collection of mouth watering treats with easy steps and tantalizing photos. The ingredients and recipes are pretty standard but there are a few creative spins such as the Red Wine Cherry Cheesecake Swirl Bars and Chocolate Basil Brownies. And towards the back, there's a whole section for cookies featuring European style butter (which has a higher milk fat content resulting in a creamier texture and richer flavor) as well as a few "extras" including lemon curd, candied cocoa nibs, and marshmallow fluff. Everything in here looks so good but I lack the motivation and skills to bake for myself so alas, I'm left drooling over the food porn.
