It was a surprise ARC for me. I've never heard of this series or the book before ,
I was interested and read it. When I read first chapter I thought extarga was a normal ship , like sea pirate or something not the space ship and pirates :D Than I thought OK that's cool .

I really loved the book and the characters. But some characters back stories looks like unfinished, I wanted to hear more about bastian's mom's betrayal. We could learn more about sonya. I adored sebastian's and anya's love. Sebastian has a hard shell but soft heart. I love him really , best character of this book. And sonya of course , she's a badass and I really shipped her with ethan :D It'll be fun to read.

I will continue to reading this series and I'm dying to learn about cale's story .

The Demon’s Possession is book one in Kiersten Fay’s Shadow Quest, and while I’m not normally a fan of Sci Fi romance, this was definitely a book worth reading. Analia and Sebastian are well developed characters who draw you in immediately with their captivating personas. A great support cast included Sebastian's siblings Cale and Sonya, and Marik played important role too. Ms Fay has delivered a story packed with many elements; imaginative world building, an interesting plot, and a strong alpha male who respects the strength of his female counterpart. A thoroughly enjoyable read, that leaves you eager for the next in the series.

Sebastian (think horned Han Solo type) and his crew are one big dysfunctional family. They all have their secrets and troubled pasts but generally they get along just fine. Sebastian, his siblings and their friends have a close bond, whilst walking the line as galactic go-getters (Space Pirates really!).

After completing a mission for one of their slimier customers Seb and co realise that they have picked up a stowaway, Analia (Anya). it soon becomes clear that Analia was scooped up by her "master" when she was so young that she doesn't even know where she comes from or the name of her people. Seb and co do the best they can to settle her into life on board. But why does Seb have this intense need to make sure she is safe? he has a bit of a past with conniving females so he should be super wary.

Anya is just such an innocent character, every new experience is a joy for her. She really comes into her own with her little jobs, interacting with the crew and all while hiding her "secret". Seb is the perfect mix of scoundrel, scallywag and Alpha hero. He's pushy and gentle in equal measures. The crew soon absorb Analia into their ranks with few exceptions and the camaraderie is brilliant to see.

Darius is the kind of baddie you don't mind hating - he is just total scum. The crew hopefully will have more adventures and rid the universe of more of his ilk!

A good snappy pace, engaging characters, snarky familial dialogue and multidimensional supporting cast make this a great read!

Fay’s new Shadow Quest series sucks you in right away. Analia has just escaped from centuries as a slave onboard the Hell Ship. After sneaking onto a merchant spaceship, she starts a transition from a scared slave to a strong woman with a kind heart that brightens everyone’s day. Fay does a wonderful job creating a world that you discover along with Analia. The relationship with the captain, Sebastian, is very well written.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Analia has been a slave all her life but after being sexually abused by the man who owns her, she escapes and takes refuge on a ship of demons.

Sebastian isn't sure he can trust Analia when he finds her on his ship but they fall for each other and he knows he has to try and keep her safe.

Analia is a strong character but she's had to be with the way her life has been. But even after being sexually abused by her owner, when she gets to know Sebastian, she feels something for him. I think it's because he treated her kindly and was nice to her. I really liked these two together. I liked how wonderful he is with her and how we see her excitement at times when she experiences something new. Her being a slave her entire life and her secret abilities made her owner Darius want to get her back and it also showed just how sheltered she had been kept.

I really liked the secondary characters that were aboard the ship and I look forward to getting to know them more in future books. I've read this author before and liked her books so I thought I would give this one a try and I'm glad I did.

Disclosure: I was given an ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

My Review: I highly enjoyed this sci-fi romance. The characters were interesting, well developed, and kept me wanting to know more about who and what Analia really is. Sebastian is fierce and protective and a wonderful mate to Anya. They complimented each other very well and I truly felt their connection and love for each other. The supporting characters really drew me in as well and I’m excited to dive into their books/adventures too. This book was heartfelt, slow burning but passionate, engaging and emotional. A great read for sure!

I enjoyed reading this story. I always enjoy sci/co romances and this one hit the spot. The plot was easy to follow and didn't turn into different directions. Although many moments in the story were predictable, it was an easy and fun read. The characters were interesting and the descriptions of them portrayed them as a fun, but crazy family

The only reason I gave three stars was because there was a lot of repetition. Many phrases were repeated, some only a few paragraphs after it was just used. And there seemed to be a few holes in the plot. But all in all, it was a job well done.

This is one of the only books based in space I've read and liked. It wasn't the best book I've read, but it was interesting enough to read the second. I like her unique powers and I'm interested to see how they change.

However, the mating bond was a bit obvious and killed the energy for me at first. It just seemed like a cop out to get them to have sex as quickly as possible.

Sonya was probably my favorite character.

When a stowaway is found on Sebastian’s air ship, curiosity and attraction is evident. Analia has secrets aplenty. Although her feelings for Sebastian are pure and bountiful, she is reluctant to trust him with everything. I loved the relationships, friendships and sense of family embraced in this book. There’s room for other characters to have their own stories. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more and more.

The Demon's Possession by Kiersten Fay is a part romance, part science fiction, part paranormal story about Sebastian, the captain of a merchant ship and Analia, a slave. In a bid for freedom from slavery, Analia stows aboard Sebastian's ship, bring danger, and love, to the Marada.

The story is full of uniqueness that is often missing from romance particularity. The author is able to pull together elements from several different genre's and blend them in a way that not just works, but feels natural. However, the story lacks some key pieces that would have made it truly great. The largest oversight is the lack of sufficient world building. With a story as unique as this, the reader needs more atmosphere to really get a full picture of the setting. Without this, the reader feels on the fringes of the story, such as an outsider looking in, rather than a participant.

There are several moments throughout the story that should come with trigger warnings - slavery, rape, physical and mental abuse.

Lastly, I had issues with several of the events in the story lacking reasoning. Each character attempts to act in the way that they see best but on several occasions, the reasoning being those choices is so absurd that it takes away from the story.

This is the first in the Shadow Quest Series by Kiersten Fay. This was my first title of hers and I was immediately hooked and read the entire series after finishing this one. Anya has been held captive and abused on another ship and sees an opportunity to escape when she stows away on a merchant ship run by demons. Once she is discovered, she remains on the ship and begins to develop relationships with the crew members, particularly with the captain, Sebastian, with who she shares an immediate and mutual attraction. The captain and crew are on a mission which they must complete before they can drop her off and it eventually becomes apparent that there is more to her than initially seemed.
This book was impossible to put down. There is an underlying story that carries through all the books in the series, with each book being the story of one of the crew of the ship and their mate. The books can be read standalone, but once you read this one, you'll want to keep on going to find out not only what happens with each of the crew member's own story but also the overall adventure that they are all drawn into.

Great first book in a space romance series! I couldn’t put it down.

Anya is a slave that escapes a horrible situation and ends up on Sebastian’s ship. She has powers others want, but just wants to be free - yet finds herself falling for the ship’s captain.

Sebastian and his siblings stole a ship when their planet was taken over. He finds it hard to trust, but there’s something about Anya.

I loved all the action and romance in this novel. Seeing the ups and downs and the struggle for two damaged people to trust and love was great. The secondary characters and ongoing story gave me excited to read more in this series.

The Demon’s Possession is the first book in the Shadow Quest series. A sci-fi/fantasy romance by Kiersten Fay. The heroine Analia is a slave, mistreated and abused for as long as she can remember. When her ‘owner’ Darius begins to sexually abuse her enough is enough and she escapes taking refuge aboard the Marada, the ship belonging to space pirate & demon Sebastian where for the first time in her life she is treated with kindness albeit tinged with suspicion as she refuses to discuss her past. But her secret abilities mean Darius isn’t about to let his prized possession escape so easily bringing danger not only for Analia but the crew who she has begun to think of as family.

Science fiction isn’t usually a genre I would read but having read books by this author before I decided to give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed. The character development of Analia as she goes from being a beaten and dejected slave, to her joyful reactions when experiencing new things where she was almost childlike in her delight until finally she has the courage to stand up for herself and those she loves was so well written I was mentally cheering her on as I read. There is also a strong cast of secondary characters and an ongoing plot line which makes me eager for more books in this series. If you are a fan of the Sci-fi series Serenity you will love this book.

That was different then expected, I admit the space aspect threw me off , but the story was a fantastic paranormal, just written with a different landscape. I enjoyed the evolution of the characters and how so many side characters played a great role in the storyline. I enjoyed the twist and turns of the characters self knowledge and how we are discovering her as she discovers herself. I’m anxious to see where the story goes, while this was in no was a cliffhanger the story is not finished.... in the least. And I would welcome reading more about sexy demons.

The plot drives this book on, so you can’t argue that it is very entertaining, if a little predictable.

Orphaned Analia, with supernatural abilities she keeps hidden due to the physical and mental toll on her, is held captive and enslaved by a cruel man, She escapes and stows away on to the Marada, a cargo ship, led by the demon Sebastian, due to deliver a package to the mysterious pirate Ethanule, on the other side of the galaxy.

When Sebastian finds Analia on his ship, he distrusts her and is attracted to her in equal measure, she feels a strong pull towards him too, as Analia is pursued, and her powers develop, how can she save herself and protect Sebastian and his crew from her evil captor, and her developing powers.

So the story keeps you reading, but there are plot holes everywhere, and the whole thing is very predictable, so Analia is completely beautiful, selfless, innocent and naive, while Sebastian is an Alpha flummoxed by his connection to her.

The problem with this book - and it is irritating because this authors works are quite expensive ebooks - is the horrendous editing and the sometimes clunky writing. So so many spelling mistakes and homonyms. It’s quite tiresome really.

Overall entertainingly trashy and fun read spoilt by poor word choice and terrible editing.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

Analia has been held captive in a brutal way on a space ship for most of her life. She possesses a magical talent that her captor has used to an excruciating degree time and again during her incarceration. Analia makes a desperate escape to a merchant ship run by Sebastian, a captain from a demon race whose power and temper is immense. Tasked with delivering a mysterious package to the pirate called Ethanule, Sebastian is quite dismayed to discover a beautiful stowaway aboard his space craft.

Sebastian fights his growing attraction to Analia because of a terrible betrayal in his family years before that affected and his siblings. Sebastian runs his ship with a brother and sister as well as a crew of varied other races. It is a whole new world for Analia that she embraces with a fervor having long been deprived in every way. Analia's attraction to the fearsome captain is a totally new experience for her after such a lengthy subjugation by a decidedly evil man. Trust is a fragile thing for a woman whose has survived the horrors that Analia has done. She never wants to be owned again in any way.

This story is first in the Shadow Quest series. I enjoyed it for the most part. There is quite a bit of drawn out angst over the main characters mutual attraction; however, if you like a slow burn romance and space adventure this is a good read. There are several more books in the series. The next one continues the story line from the first focusing a ship's crew member and one of Analia's sisters whom she has been seeking.

A 're read for me of what was the first sci fi romance I read and I still love these characters as much as I did the first time. Anya has escaped from a man who treated her appallingly and hides on the ship that has been trading with him. She’s scared, quite literally starving and yet still so hopeful that this time she will finally make it. Sebastian doesn’t understand how his beautiful stowaway came to be on his spaceship but he’s determined to protect her. Anya finds friendship and a new purpose but has secrets too deadly to share but as danger threatens everyone she’s come to care for her past has well and truly caught up !
I loved these characters the first time I read this and I still loved them this time around. I particularly enjoyed the camaraderie and teasing that goes on but who am I kidding ? This story has such a sexy romance running through it and it doesn’t matter how big, scary or tough Sebastian is he definitely melts when it comes to his Anya ! Discount her at your peril though because she might be dainty and naive but she’s certainly brave and loyal. There is a resolution of sorts here but it’s left in an intriguing way that just invites the reader to continue the journey and boy what a quest it’s going to be !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
