This series has a really fun premise and ultimately I enjoyed most of the execution: it made for a bright, bizarre first volume that was also quite charming at times, with a bold style and a very fun cast.
This was a fun twist on the vampire myth. Arika lives in a small village and works at her family’s cafe. Her brother goes missing one day and she finds him at the long abandoned castle alongside Divo, a beta vampire. Divo seems to have memory loss and doesn’t remember how to be a vampire so Arika sets out to help him. Along the way hilarity ensues. A vampire hunter comes to town during their yearly festival, making things even more interesting.
I had a good laugh with this one and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. I’m curious as to who Divo really is and if Arika can make her dream of having vampires and humans coexist come true. Very fun read
No Vampire, No Happy Ending appealed to me due to its premise. It sounded quirky and fun, and on the whole it was that. The illustration style didn't thrill me. However, I found the story interesting enough to keep reading. It's completely over the top, but I think that is part of its appeal, and I did close this volume wondering what would happen next. I fear some readers may find this too silly and bizarre, but if you are looking for a supernatural manga that falls into one or both of those categories, it's probably worth giving No Vampire, No Happy Ending a try. For me, if I had an opportunity to read on, I would pick up volume two, but I didn't love it enough to actively seek it out.
