This was so freaking cute, i love the graphic's and the magic... kinda reminds me of Little Charmers t.v. show where the daughter and the mom has magic but the dad did not.
Thank you to the publisher for giving me a free copy of this starting series!
I really loved the story so far. I do hope to read more of this series in the future however as for right now that probably has to wait. The art is totally my style and I enjoyed reading about Bibi and Miyu. I loved Miyu's dog/fox Wasabi it was such a cute touch.
I also just in general really enjoyed the characters. They weren't over the top hyperactive but also weren't so boring that you don't want to continue the book. The characters in this book are happy and easy going so no worries there.
I do have to say that I'm getting mayor lgbtq+ vibes from the two main characters but that could just be me heheheheh
I would give this one 5/5 stars :D
I have always had a soft spot for anything witchy. Bibi & Miyu Volume 1 started really nice and smooth. Main characters are gradually introduce to the readers and managed to give distinct personality to them. The author kind of hinted that Taki might have something to do with how Bibi and Miyu's relationship will deepened. I kind of ship Bibi and Taki this early.
I personally loved their encounters with the yokai and how silly and sloppy Bibi tries to subdue and defeat them. It shows how young their skills and the potential of growing. This means character and story development!
I totally recommend this manga to kids and young teens and even women who are young at heart who fancy witches and broomsticks and ghost hunters and cute pet mounts!
Got this free copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Bibi and Miyu meet at school when Miyu comes to Germany from Japan. They become friends when Bibi finds out that Miyu has a magical fox and Miyu learns about Bibi's magic. They later travel to japan and help Miyu's family with vanquishing Yokai.
I liked the idea of this story but I feel like it moved way to fast. the beginning didn't have enough charterer development and not enough story behind why they act how they do. Switching from one country so quickly, back and forth doesn't really make sense. The art was very beautiful, i just feel like some of the ideas needed to be thought through a little bit.
Bibi & Miyu is a light-hearted and fun manga about Bibi, a young witch and her friend, Miyu. After befriending the new girl and discovering her secret, Bibi convinces her parents to allow her to travel to Miyu’s home country and experience live their whilst on school vacation.
The art is gorgeous and engaging. Due to the gorgeous illustrations, it was such an enjoyable and quick read and it definitely adds to the story. I love how this manga focuses on the girls friendship and their magical adventures. I enjoyed this manga and I’m curious to see where this will go.
This is such an adorable read and I’d recommend this to a range of ages (younger readers 8+) and fans of manga and manga with magical settings.

Thanks to NetGalley and to Diamond Book Distributors and Tokyopop for sending me an e-galley of this manga in exchange for an honest review!
Bibi is a young German witch, but she isn't allowed to do any magic at home. Then one day a new student shows up at her school from Japan named Miyu and she has everyone in Bibi's class enchanted. It's clear that there's something more to Miyu than meets the eye.
This reads on the younger side of YA as far as manga goes. It's light and bubbly with action reminiscent of early Sailor Moon episodes. It looks like there might be the start of a love interest but it's all very sweet.
The story is used to teach the reader about Japanese culture with a bit of whimsy. There aren't demons flying around Japan and there aren't any real magical girls, but there's some of this rooted in the culture. The art style was really cute as well.
Adorable manga about young girls with magical powers. Based on a German audio drama star named Bibi (an actual thing) who in this manga goes to Japan and learns about Japanese culture.
Great for ages 7-10, but my teen who is into manga loved it. She mentions you don't have to know anything about the series or manga in order to enjoy the story just as it is.
Cute and fun, with a nice story about a Japanese family who is hunting Youkai (spirits). This promises to be a great new series for younger manga fans, as well as a good introduction manga for young readers.
I received an ARC as a reviewer for NetGalley.
A new student comes to Bibi Blocksberg's class: Miyu from Japan.
Bibi soon begins to suspect that her new friend has something to hide.
Full disclaimer: I grew up with Bibi Blocksberg audio dramas, and to this day know more about it than I'd care to admit. Which means that I was quiete shocked to see the translation of Kartoffelbrei, Bibi's magic broom, to Apple Pie - yes, sure, they probably wanted to keep the rhyme. But from mashed potatoes to apple pie?
The parts that play in Germany fit in neatly. It's fun to see German culture in a manga, even when you have a manga by German artists, most often they don't depict stuff I'd recognise from my life.
They even kept the itchy witch nose, and I still feel the curiousity about Barabara Blocksberg's work I felt first as a toddler.
But we have some plotholes on our hands.
<spoiler> Since vacations are coming up, Bibi convinces her parents to let her travel to Japan for the two weeks, so Miyu can show her everything. I won't even talk about the cost of the airplane tickets when they have magic, or the unanswered question where Miyu lives in Germany - but how come they have to go to school when they're only there on vacation for two weeks? </spoiler>
Despite that, I had fun. I like the update. I'd even go so far as to say I want more and will be sure to recommend this to my local library.
You need no knowledge about Bibi Blocksberg to delve into this, but I think it might be interesting if you have some. Apart from that: Teenage witch befriending another person and going on adventures. If that description appeals to you, read it.

A sweet and magical story about friendship, told through a lovely style and characters.
Here comes two things, which I really love together: Bibi Blocksberg and Manga.
The beautiful cover caught my attention and as an Bibi Blocksberg fan I wanted to check out the manga. And it is really beautiful and lovely.
The character design is great. All known characters have their typical identities in their own manga style way. It seems like a typical Bibi Blocksberg story but has a lot of Shoujo Manga elements like Japan, Onigiri, sakura blossoms, school life, first romance (a little bit), friendship, festival…It is an authentic Bibi Blocksberg story which good be one of the children audiobooks of this series. The Bonus sites were interesting as well.
I am totaly love it and looking forward to volume 2.
