I found this book to be enjoyable and interesting to read, although I was really put off by the title. It seems to be someone could come up with something more positive.
Affirmations are totally going to become a part of my day to day routine. I enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend.
I have mixed feelings about this one. While at times it was funny and engaging, at other times is was overly wordy and felt a little preachy. But then again it is a self-help book.
The message is great, the stories relatable, the cliff notes after each chapter are a nice summary. Overall a book I'm glad I read even though it wasn't what I was expecting.
This book as a whole is great. The cover catches the eye with its title and color. The authors writing style is great. This book is great for anyone looking for inspiration to be a better you.
I enjoyed this book and thought it had a good message. Some of the stories were repetitive but mostly overall a good book.
This book really helped me along my journey as I continue to think about what is wrong with me, my body, and all the negative thoughts I continue to have towards myself. This is a simple quick and emotional read that really makes me feel empowered with some good next steps. I also LOVED at the end of each chapter the quick recap when things were a little too long winded or hard to read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I received this as a ARC from Netgalley to read and review for my honest opinion.
The intro chapter had me laughing out loud, and in chapter two I had goosebumps. I am a big fan of the Law of Attraction and learning more about the brain science behind it was super interesting. I also loved the chapter about gratitude and the idea of using it for your future goals as if they have already happened. I loved her take on using the F word as an extra boost for your affirmation! I would recommend this book!
This book had so much potential.... I didn't hate it, but I didn't find it a priority to come back to when I set it down. I finished other books and magazines in the meantime. I feel another format would have suited this book. Maybe shorter chunks of texts? Pictures? Some sort of illustration? I know where she's going with this...straying away from the nice girl self-helpers of the world like Rachel Hollis, and trying to attract those every day women who swear and want the good life. It just got wordy. The author even recognizes this is her "tl;dr" section at the end of each chapter. A nice effort, but I can't see me recommending this to anyone.
I was attracted to this book because of the title.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this book. I love reading about the body and how it functions, but most times it goes straight over my head. This was the closest I’ve found to a book on my level that I comprehended.
And for those who gloss over, she does a recap at the end of each chapter 🙌🏼
For those who may be hesitant because of the F bombs, the last chapter is the only one that they are really prevalent.
For all the fierce lionesses who knows they too can fxcking do this shite, too—this book is for you. Self help book captivating me from page one? This one did and I read it through and loved it and feel badass AF right now!
I really liked this book, as it was different from most self-help books.
Stokell uses neuroscience to explain exactly how the brain functions, and how it reacts to certain situations, and stimuli using scientific studies.
Rather than simply telling the reader "you should do this" she explains what happens when you act in a certain way, making it easier and more effective to follow the exercises.
It really does make a difference saying to yourself "I will be successful", to "I am grateful for being successful" - it almost tricks the mind into believing something has happened. She explains how this is useful and not just an exercise in unreality.
A really refreshing approach to a saturated market.
DNF. This book tries too hard to be edgy and quirky. It didn't hit the points promised within the long title.
I was expecting lists or quotes of affirmations this started with the meaning behind them and kinda got wordy in the second part. I do like the reviews at the end of the chapters. Overall a quick read but not what I was expecting. #FBombAffirmationsrewireyourbrainandbecomethekickasshumanyouweremeanttobe #NetGalley
This book wasn’t what I was expecting. I imagined a book with just quotes and affirmations. Instead you get much more. The author explains and describes why affirmations are important and to which part of your brain are affected by self affirmations (praise or negative self talk). She also details why adding “colorful” language to these affirmations enhance what your body hears and gives you that “F YEAH!” feeling. I liked the book, I really enjoyed that she gives bullet points for each chapter at the end (a “this was too long chapter, give me the cliff notes/bullet points”). Overall good book.
For the person is not offended by swear words, this may be your book. There is no page that is safe from the F word yet it is still motivating and the language just adds to it at a deeper level.
This one sounded positively everything I wanted to read at the moment. Especially now with having to stay inside for more than a month... my mind could use some rewiring. But I guess self-help books are still not entirely for me. While the writing style was very engaging and fun (really, I flew through many pages), I just wasn't a fan of the self-help parts. It became less engaging and interesting and more like I was reading a study book or a manual.
I will give it 3 stars for the engaging writing and the stories in between which I really enjoyed and wouldn't mind a whole book of.
