What a little treasure this book was! Everything from the awkward heroine to the quaint town to the book store that can not be sold, only passed on to another book lover..... everything was so endearing. Tough alpha heroes are normally my thing, but Dimitri was so perfect for Hallie.... so perfect for this book. The romance between them was so quirky and funny and romantic. I can't remember the last time I laughed so much out loud while reading a book.
I haven't read anything by Jaimie Admans before, but I will definitely put her books on my radar. This story was a delight from start to finish!

That would be the best day ever wouldn't it, losing your job & finding out you've been given a bookshop! This beautiful story follows klutzy Hallie on her journey as the novice bookshop owner with Dimitri, who seems to be part of the fixtures & fittings as together they embark on making 'Once Upon A Page' a success. Serendipity style they start finding the writers of the love notes in the books covers, hoping they can reunite them with their intended recipients. But can they push everything aside & fall many arses over many tits in love? Loved this book, definitely one of my best reads of the year. Many thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in return for my honest review.

What a romantic British rom-com

Hallie hasn't had much good luck in her life. She's 35 years old, has a 22 year old male flatmate who is an ass, is terribly clumsy and has just been fired from another job.

Then...she finds out that she has won a bookshop in a lottery, a bookshop she's loved most of her life. And it includes a small flat above it. It's in the small picturesque village of Buntingorden in the Cotswolds. And now she's scared to death. Her dream has come true but she's not sure she can actually make a go of it.

But handsome klutzy artist and book lover Dimitri stumbles into the shop and the story takes off.

This book is about the magic of books, the love of books, and I have loved books my whole life. I escaped into this story and never wanted to come out. I loved the characters and I loved the story. This is a book I will read again in the future, something I rarely do.

I received this book from HQ Digital UK through Net Galley in the hopes that I would read it and leave an unbiased review.

Imagine winning a bookstore, the bookstore of your dreams, in a raffle?? But there is a catch! the store is financially going under, and none of this comes easy. Well Hallie has it made right?? I was wondering how she was going to make this work.

Everything about the writing and how this book made me feel was just what I needed in this cloudy day. It was just the right amount of everything. I always say this but I love a female protagonist who is strong, who preservers, and never gives up, Hallie did that to me, and to find love of course, Jaimie topped it off very well.

Happy Publishing Day to Jaimie, and thank you netgalley for giving me the opportunity to ready this gem.

Jaimie Adman’s books never fail to have wonderful storylines along with quirky loveable characters, and whilst this was absolutely the case here, I have to say the story itself was drawn out to the point where it started to become a bit of a slog at a couple of points. That’s not to say I wouldn’t recommend, on the whole I did enjoy, it’s simply a case that it’s not my favourite by Admans. Well worth checking out for yourself.

This was a sweet story, I like it because I really didn't know what to expect, the story was sweet and had a little bit of angst in it but the characters made everything so good at all times.. it is a story of hope and determination, it is about trust and friendship.

The Little bookshop of love stories, was a great read, I did enjoy so much the dialogs, the chit chat and the whole shenanigans Hallie and Dimitri brought to us, they really were perfect for each other no matter how much they try to hide it..

Hallie feels like her whole life is not what she ever wanted, living with a roommate much younger than her, treating her like she didn't deserve any respect at all, and with a job that was never meant for her. but life changes so fast and she acquires something she never thought she could have, something that will change her life forever making her past a vague memory that she never wants to recall.

Dimitri a handsome young man, with a bright future in his hands, a future that he is not so kin to and is ready to make his own future, very far away from his family that had never appreciated him or value him at all, he has so much talent a talent that he keeps hiding but in time will bring so much joy to his life.

The Little Bookshop of love stories is the story of making stories, it is a book where the imagination flows and comes alive, where we get to feel very emotional but at the same time very happy and moved that this story is coming alive, while I turn the pages I felt like the bookshop really existed and I wanted to walk there and meet all the ladies on the book club, eat cookies and browse around the magnificent titles on each shelve.

The Little Bookshop of love stories is a book that brings so much love and great ideas to continue showing love to the ones you love the most.

it is a book that brings so much joy but at the same time hope and faith light and joy...

What an enchanting book this proved to be – so many love stories hidden in a bookshop!

Hallie Winstone didn’t think anything was going her way after she’d been fired yet again. However, her luck changed as she learnt she’d won the bookshop in the village she grew up in – yes, and it even came with its own flat! The problem is the shop isn’t financial viable, she needs to encourage more folks to buy books – and to learn what stock she already has. She’s helped by Dimitri, an artist who comes to create book illustrations in the store every day and helps her. Sorting out the stock they discover lots of the second hand books have love letters written in them…. and so the inspiration for helping bring these people together again begins. But will it only be strangers it helps bring romance to?

This is a truly heartwarming story involving very different families, lots of laughter and inspirational love. It is a delight to escape into and I’m so glad Dimitiri’s secret doesn’t ruin everything for them. I throughly enjoyed reading it and have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys multiple romances, a quirky Mum, cooking disasters, a huge secret to be uncovered and lots of love in a charismatic, cosy community but with a threatening bully who could ruin everything…

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it to be absolutely absorbing, putting a huge smile on my face! I really want to go explore the bookshop in this story!

Hallie has won every bookworm’s dream: a bookstore. Down on her luck, Hallie is gifted Once Upon A Time Bookshop which comes with a fish, some budget worries, a swoon-worthy illustrator, and used books with messages inside the covers. This is a sweet, romantic story with goofy characters who want to share their love and passion for books, along with a desire to solve the mysteries hidden within the books’ covers.

One of my favorite things about this novel is the author's obvious adoration of books. Bookworms will be highlighting endless quotes on the impact/connections stories have on people. Books truly provide an escape and joy, and the characters emphasize this so well. I also enjoyed the numerous references to pieces of literature and characters.

The only reason this is not a five star read is that there were times the plot was too slow for me, and I kept waiting for a conflict to appear. It did pick up more towards the later half and then I couldn’t put it down. If you want a light-hearted read with book-loving characters, check this out!

Hallie has the worst luck, she's been fired from pretty much every job she's had. So when she wins a failing bookshop and becomes it's owner she can't quite believe it! She is determined to make the shop a success even if the local arrogant buisnessman (that wants to buy the bookshop and knock it down) thinks she's doomed!

With the help of Dimitri, a handsome and friendly illustrator who comes crashing into her life (quite literally) on her first day, Hallie soon gets to grips with the running of a bookshop and together they come across messages and declarations of love left in second hand books. Determined to track down the people from the messages will Hallie and Dimitri find any happily ever afters?

This book warmed my little bibliophile heart! I mean, what bookworm doesn't dream of owning a bookshop and enjoy a little romance?! I knew I would love this book from the very first page, the style of Admans writing is divine and Hallie is an instantly likeable character. I found I was slowing my reading down as I didn't want the story to end - the highest form of compliment!

It's left me wishing Once Upon a Page was real so I could visit and join the bookclub that eats all the biscuits! Truly the sweetest story and the perfect escape for bookish people. I even found a couple of books to read from its pages! What more could you want!

I will definitely be getting myself a paperback copy for my bookshelf and will be seeking out more of Jaimie Admans books.

Another heartwarming read from Jaimie Admans. The characters are adorable, the setting cozy, and the plot was cute. Jaimie Admans has a particular writing style and type of characters that I greatly enjoy. It’s a pleasure to read her writing.

There were so many positive "feels" when I started reading this book and for the most part, those good vibes lasted to the very end. Isn't it every book lover's dream to own a bookshop? Or at least to work in one, to be surrounded by your favorite tales, connect with other book lovers, and find yourself deep in conversation about all your book boyfriends and the stories that have touched you throughout your life? And secondhand books---there's something ultra special about them, isn't there?

Don't get me wrong, it started out with a bang and I liked Hallie and Dimitri as characters, as friends, and even a romantic pairing. You could tell that Dimitri was warm and gentle, and I liked how "clutzy" Hal was. My hold-up was that they seemed younger (by a decade maybe?) than the age they were supposed to be; so any time their age was mentioned, it threw me off.

I really wanted to give this book five stars, but the flow of the story slowed down drastically and certain chapters seemed to drag on. Then, the dialogue began to feel strange and unnatural. I found Hallie's quirky mother funny in the beginning but soon realized she was so terribly and uncomfortably pushy that I had a hard time believing any of it. (If my mother did half the things that Hal's mother did---well, let's just say we wouldn't be on speaking terms no matter her good intentions.)

The climax itself---which I won't go into detail with for spoiler reasons---also felt a bit forced, which is a disappointment. I began to piece together the puzzle about a chapter or two before the big reveal, which kind of burst my balloon. At the same time, this is chick-lit at its best and I feel there are only so many plot lines that these types of books run with. It's what you do with them to make them stand out that matters most.

With that said, the good outweighed the bad and The Little Bookshop of Love Stories was charming and enjoyable! Any book lover will fall in love with Once Upon a Page.

This novel oozed with charm and is perfect for booklovers! Hallie is a lovable character who wins Once Upon a Page Bookshop and the adventures she endures through her acquisition were at times funny and other times you really felt her struggle. The additional love story with Dimitri adds a level of romance needed for this story and when they begin to reunite others through messages, it begins to fill your heart with joy. Readers of Jenny Colgan will adore this novel. The perfect cozy, romantic read for a bookworm.

This book was a true joy to read. The main character Hallie has never ever caught a break in her life. She is informed that her name is drawn out of a lottery and that she is the new owner of Once Upon A Page Bookshop. She decides maybe her life is going to turn around. She immerses herself into a new home, town, job and a special new friend. In trying to organize the books a pattern emerges. There are alot of books with messages written inside. She decides it would be fun to track down some of the messages and maybe reunite them with the people who were intended to receive these messages. This is a book within a book. The main storyline revolves around Hallie but in tracking down these messages more stories come to light. Some happy and some sad. I loved this book. Very heartwarming.

Being a booklover , i think this light-hearted novel has been written keeping in mind the common factors which any booklover will enjoy. A chic lit romamce book which you will adore in this sad time period of lockdown.

The humourous lines kept my jawline ace with smiles.

Re reading this book will never make you bored.

This is a book which reveals in its love for books in general. Hallie has lost her job - again. Her day continues to get worse till the ray of sunshine that she never expected shines through. She has won a bookshop! This startling announcement is to change the way she is living her life and even the way she perceives herself.

She waxes poetic about books every chance she gets and considering that most people will pick this book up expecting such conversations, will understand, anticipate and probably appreciate it. How she comes to grips with dealing with a failing bookshop, assisted by a very charming artist is the bulk of the narrative. There is a lot that happens to boost her enthusiasm, the main being the numerous messages that she finds written inside books. Although most of them are charming and lead to very cutesy endings, there are one or two which throw in the normal to balance the situation out. The narration borders on magical realism when referring to the shop but does not really commit to that angle and therefore does not interfere with the story. Hallie's family is totally believable too. They tease her and misunderstand her enthusiasm on an average day but when required rise up to the challenge of helping her out with no questions asked (while retaining their right to comment). I expected the twists which is not too much of a deal-breaker in this genre, if well done like in this case.

Our charmingly clumsy artist is also a bibliophile to match our leading lady's love for books as well her capacity to be a klutz. The combination of all of the above factors made for a charming and fun read. Although I read it on the heels of a similar story, they seemed very distinct, proving that both authors have done a great job giving their heroine distinct and attractive voices.

I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience and my love for books.
