“Books can change lives and make people feel not alone when they most desperately need it.”
It was such a joy getting to read The Little Bookshop of Love Stories! I loved getting lost in books with main characters Hallie and Dimitri, and the storyline kept me hooked throughout the whole book. The Serendipity movie reference was SPOT ON, not that I am biased at all by that movie being one of my favorites.
This book truly had me from the first sentence: It is a truth universally acknowledged that today is the Mondayest Monday ever. I’ve been fired. Again.
Highly recommend this one if you are in need of a light romance!
Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
When clutzy Hallie discovers she's won her favourite book shop she's sure it's a joke but soon realises her Cotswold dream is reality!
But after settling in a weezle property developer wants to buy her out thankfully she doesn't give in but befriends fellow klutz, Dimitri a children's illustrator to be who works in there everyday and as the pair grow closer over a mystery surrounding his mum and a book, the pair also hatch a plan to save the shut down bakery next door too as Dimitri cooks some amazing sweet treats, but not only can they get the money to fund the dream, will there be any spark ignite between them not just in the future kitchen when a huge secret comes to light about Dimitri's family?
I loved the book so much from the Belle and Beast aspect of falling in love in and with the actual bookshop and the guy with it too my favourite scene without a doubt was when Hallie's mum meets Dimitri it was just like a scene from the comedy Miranda, my favourite! It made me laugh and I loved how it showed social media can help a physical business out not ruin it too as well the book message trail full of memories of times in others lives too I relate with many of my books being written in by my mum stating when and why they were bought for me too and it's so true how they can bring people together this book had a perfect concept for me and other book lovers will fall in love with this book for sure!
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another brilliant read from Jaimie.
Hallie gets fired from her job after humiliating herself in front of a restaurant full of people. She then gets an email to say she has won a bookshop in a raffle. On her first day opening the shop Dimitri appears and they develop a friendship whilst sorting out the huge amount of books in the shop. Does the friendship develop into something more.
Can’t wait for Jaimies’s next book.
This book was honestly adorable I loved everything about it the writing was really well done, the characters were really likeable and drake was a good protagonist but I like how he was very determined on what he wanted but wasn’t constantly in the story. Really glad there wasn’t a big argument between Hal and Dimitri and they had no tension in the beginning just clicked which was really refreshing. Overall really liked this and definitely recommend for anyone looking for a cute summer read.
This is a wonderful story about a girl who seems to have a lot of bad luck most of her life until she wins a prize in a draw that will change her life.! As a book lover, working and living in a book store sounds magical, and for Hallie it is a dream come true. She loves to read romantic comedies, and fairy tales , because unlike real life they always have happy endings. Perhaps though, her luck has changed, or has it?
I throughly enjoyed this book! The characters were relatable, likeable, and their little bookstore in a small town in England sounds like a place I’d love to visit.
Really nice light read, there were some really lovely feel good moments and I like the whole thing.
I am, however, extremely jealous of Hallie. Owning my own bookshop would be a dream come true.
I instantly fell in love with Hallie, the single, down on her luck main character. She is a book worm and enters a raffle to win a bookshop. Never did she imagine she would actually win. Having just lost her latest job as a waitress she takes on the bookshop with excitement and trepidation. On her first morning she meets Drake and Dimitri. Drake, a property developer, wants the shop for his latest development and Dimitri, a book illustrator, just seems to want to help Hallie run the shop. Follow Hallie on her adventure as a bookshop owner. I really enjoyed this book so thank you to Jaimie Admans and Netgalley for the early e book copy.
A feel good novel which I thoroughly enjoyed and although it did seem a little predictable at times it was still a delight to read. Follow Hallie and Dimitri’s friendship and the progress that was made with reinventing the bookshop Hallie won in a raffle.
The Little Bookshop of Love Stories is the perfect romance novel for booklovers. Hallie is such a relatable character, especially if you're a down-to-earth clumsy bookworm. The characters in general have depth to them as well, so it's not just Hallie that's well written. The plot is engaging and there's a few times when there's a bit of laugh out loud due to hilarious moments. Of course, the book is a bit cheesy at times, but that was just part of the charm, especially in this book.
I was initially attracted to this book by the gorgeous cover and from reading previous books by this author, I knew it was going to be a great read. I have loved the setting of this book, it has been a fantastic escape and definitely pulled me out of the reading slump I was experiencing. I have loved the characters in this book and I am really hoping that there will be a follow on to this book. I just have to know what happens with the characters next and how their adventures continue.
There is absolutely nothing negative I can say about this book. It has been a perfect read and I have loved it.
This book is completely unique to any that I've read before and I have everything crossed for this to move from a standalone to a series. I'm not ready to leave the bookshop or the characters just yet.
I have read this author's books before, this is by far my favourite. I have loved everything about this one. It's been a fantastic read from start to finish and I'm disappointed that I will not be able to experience the first time reading of this one again. I cannot wait to see what Jaimie has in store for readers next. I'm already eagerly anticipating the next book.
This is a book which has been the perfect escape, it has helped me relax and switch off. I have laughed out loud reading this one, cringed but overall I've been left smiling because this is heartwarming, entertaining and romantic.
This book has been the perfect length, although I need more. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and just screams at the reader. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Just what I needed to read in these strange times, light hearted, great characters and good story line. An escapism read.
This novel is one of the best I’ve read this year! The characters are so dynamic yet relatable. I loved the flow of the story. It held my attention the whole time.
The Little Bookshop of Love Stories is the first book I’ve read by this author. It’s a pleasant enough tale and quite easy to read but I found the first part of the book to be quite slow and just lacking a little something. I’m glad I stuck with it though and am sure many others will love it. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ Digital and the author for the chance to review.
I don't know how I've made it this far into life without discovering Jaimie Admans! She is hands-down my new favorite author. This book seems like it'd be a light-hearted read on the surface, but it goes so much deeper....dealing with issues of grief, inadequacy, and rediscovering hope. The protagonists have a complicated relationship, and there are other relationship stories interwoven with their own. For anyone who has ever dreamed of living in a book shop, or just loves books in general, the intricacies of the story will tug at your heart strings...
What a beautiful story! I loved it so much. I thought Hallie and Dimitri were lovely characters, and the whole book was just like a fairy tale. The setting (both Once Upon a Page, the bookshop, and the surrounding area) was marvellous. I loved the idea of all the messages in books, though I wouldn’t actually write directly on one myself. And the idea of being given a bookshop is rather a fairytale all by itself. Then add in the gentle love story, and you have a delightful tale.
If you’re looking for a wonderful love story to sweep you away, and you love books, then pick this one. You won’t be disappointed.
I was given a free copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
Oh how I enjoyed this quirky tale. I'm sure all bookworms dream of owning a bookshop, so this storyline is a winner. Also, I'm sure we've all heard 'why do you need more books'. Great characters, even the minor ones, like the Lynx cloud of a flatmate. I really enjoyed the stories of the book dedications too. An absolute winner for me.
Thank you to HQ Digital for providing me with an eARC of this novel via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Little Bookshop of Love Stories will melt your heart like the inside of an ooey gooey chocolate chip cookie. This lighthearted romance appeals to your inner bookworm, and I absolutely adored the protagonists' love of all things bookish. How many people dream of winning their own little bookshop on an idyllic cobblestone village road in England, let alone finding the most perfect love of their life all in one go? Fair warning that you will suffer hard from secondhand embarrassment as the protagonist, Hallie, and love interest, Dimitri, are both clumsy oafs - although simultaneously cute and charming, which was their saving grace. Some of the humour was witty, but other parts were not my cup of tea, as I do not like laughing at peoples' misfortunes. My main knock against this book, however, was the ending. I do not understand the DRAMA that ensued over a minor miscommunication, and I 100% blame Hallie for making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I also absolutely loathe and detest the stock villain Drake. (Couldn't Admans be a little more creative with her evil characters?) Regardless, this one does have a happy ending and the romance will keep you entertained for hours. T he perfect beach read this summer.
This book hit every spot for me. It was a wonderful Happy loved up story of two of the most clumsy people I've ever heard of. Their adorable little incidents made me chuckle from dropping things to falling over to bumping in to things! Hallie is a beautiful character who I felt was instantly like a friend. I could relate to her in lots of ways and as most book lovers of this genre, she falls in love with the love stories. Dimitris is a fantastic character with the way he always knows what to do for best, to make Hallie smile or make things right. The book takes you on a gorgeous journey through bad luck, good luck, friendship, family and love. If you're a sucker for love stories this book is full of them!
Thank you so much to the author, the publishers and netgalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC for my honest review. I will be recommending this to everyone and will definitely be looking up the authors other books. Thank you
I love everything about this book - from the front cover, to the characters and the storyline.
Owning my own book shop would be any bookworms dream come true, so I could totally lose myself in the storyline and because Hallie was so relatable I could easily pretend I was living her life.
For the first time ever a book actually gave me goosebumps too which I can only see is a good thing!
Have never read anything from this author before, but based on this book alone, I will be looking out for books in the future - and ones already written .
Thankyou netgalley for the opportunity to read this book.
Another light romance set in a bookshop. Same old same old? Absolutely not!! This is a fabulous read for anyone who seriously loves books. Hallie Winsome, a clumsy thirty-five year old woman with the worst luck, suddenly wins the bookshop she's been visiting since she was a child. However, she's never run a business before, the account are seriously in the red and a local property developer is circling. Enter Dmitri, an equally clumsy local artist who supports Hallie is trying to save the shop. Hallie was a wonderful relatable heroine and Dmitri was the kind of hero everyone wants in their life. What I really loved about these two, and the book as a whole, was it really captured how I feel about books. Like Hallie, I've had family question the number of books I own and I've never really been able to articulate the reason I love books, especially 2nd hand books, until I read this. The love stories aspect of the story was what truly magical and not only referenced one of my all time favourite films but had me looking back at some of my old books to find the 'love story' they contained. I loved how these stories were handled and revealed and was really glad at the role Robert played. There are many laugh-out-loud moments in this book and Hallie's mum was fabulous and I loved the idea of her cooking and her attempts to find Hallie a boyfriend were hilarious. A perfect read that will have you desperate to search out those lost love stories in your nearest second hand bookshop or car boot sale.
