A chilly little story that starts with a "meet cute". scenario in the aftermath of a car accident and trips merrily along to a less endearing one, - another accident, one that ends in death. Or was it murder? When handsome, charming Justin Childs rushes to help extricate Annie after her car slides off an icy mountain road, it feels like kismet. Everything about him adds up to the man of her dreams - he's a successful tech entrepreneur who's in business with his closest friend, a thoughtful and loving husband and a devoted son. But even before he dies, Annie's beginning to doubt that their love story as well as the life they've made together has been built on solid ground. And when Will 's arrested for what turns out to be the murder of his best friend, the ground finally gives way. While the characters are one-dimensional, the story is well told and the narrative paced to hold the reader's attention until the final page.
Justin Childs is adored by all. He's charismatic, so very smart and creative, willing to share ideas, praise, wealth and his wide circle of those who can get things done. He knows everyone who matters and is able to use those connections in every way possible. When he dies in an automobile accident, driving off the end of the road into space, while loaded on Valium, his wife and best friend can't understand why that would happen since Justin didn't take drugs like Valium. But they soon realize that Justin was all lies, that everything he touched was fake. Justin was a liar, a cheat, a fraud and he'd been so for at least the last decade.
The story is told from the viewpoint of three people, Justin's wife, Anne, Justin's best friend and business partner, Will, and Justin's mom, Carol. As much as Carol loved Justin unconditionally, she was always aware that he made exceptions to the truth, that he did things wrong, that he hurt people, but Carol could always make excuses for Justin's failings. Carol would do anything to protect Justin's reputation, whether he deserved to have his reputation protected or not.
Anne and Will's lives are falling apart after Justin's death. Their lives had been so entangled in everything Justin did and they never thought they had any reason to doubt Justin. Their home lives, their finances, their careers are being razed as Justin's death exposes all the cracks in Justin's very precisely curated life. What does Carol know, how much did she suspect, and can Anne trust her mother-in-law in her life? Is Justin pulling one last, brutal scheme from the grave? Anne and Will are implicated in things that Justin did. How long has Justin been plotting to destroy their lives and why would he want to do so?
Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and NetGalley for this ARC.
What would happen if the man you married died and you slowly begin to reveal that he isn't the man you thought he was? This is the story or just that!
This book started a little bit slow for me, but when it picked up, I could not put it down. Twists and turns galore and shocking details that I didn't see coming.
Great read!
CONVINCE ME is a fast, interesting read. It explores the aftermath of the death of Annie's husband, Justin, through her eyes and the eyes of his business partner, Will and Justin's mother, Carol. There is plenty of intrigue and the ending is certainly not obvious. The dialogue (both inner and outer) are good; I could definitely tell that Sandowsky has written for television. Perfect vacation read.
This was a quick read! And I loved and hated every second of it!
Justin Childs is dead. And during his vivacious, whirl wind of life he left Carol, Annie, and Will in his wake.
Convince me is told from three points of view - his wife Annie, Best friend and business partner Will, and mother Carol. They tell a story of how Justin was their life line with his bigger than life ideas and gestures and how easily they overlooked some big red flags.
As bodies pile up, the reader is forced to figure out what really happened to Will- and that's pretty tough when you are reading directly from each perspective.
Loved it because this author knows how to write. She planted Easter eggs throughout the book and really described what life with a narcissist is like. I hated it because I was married to a narcissist for a few years and he possessed the same characteristics. Realistic writing at its best and worst! ;)

Wow - could not put this book down! It’s amazing how crazy people can act like normals ones, even as they’re planning horrible acts....I won’t give away the plot, but trust me, you’ll be surprised! A true thriller!
Entertaining and interesting read with well drawn characters. I enjoyed it and would recommend it as a good book to read in quarantine!
I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. I have read 1 of Nina Sadowsky's earlier books and Convince Me was enjoyable. We get a glimpse of Justin Childs, who has recently died in a car accident through the lens of his widow Annie, his best friend Will and his mother Carol. Justin seemed like a larger than life person who enjoyed life. Slowly the cracks in the formation started to show. There are some unsolved questions, about the things Justin lied about, and kept from his best friend and wife. Carol doesn't seem that interesting a character at 1st chapter or 2 of hers. The switching every chapter between these 3 people in Justin's life start to make you question some inconsistencies. The ending was good but I would have liked some few questions answered better. All in all, a quick suspenseful read that I enjoyed and would reccomend.
Convince Me is the latest thriller from Nina Sadowsky. Ms Sadowsky gives us the story in three different voices, the wife, the best friend, and the mother. Some back and forth in time from the three memories. This is a story that will keep you turning the pages well into the night. I want to thank NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an early copy to review.
This was a little slow to start but then picked up move quickly to become a good fast paced read. The narration is done form 3 points of view and it helps build the plot well. The chapters are short and that make this a quick read. The mystery around Justin is well built and there some good twists and turns. Overall very enjoyable. I appreciated how the author answers all the questions a reader may have leaving nothing ambiguous. The ending wasn’t a huge plot twist but the book was truly enjoyable.
Justin is the perfect man, a dream son, husband, friend, businessman who everyone loves. When he dies in a horrific car accident, everyone in his life in inconsolable. Wife Annie, best friend Will and mother Carol try to pick up the pieces, of their lives without the charismatic man they loved, but what they are finding leaves them with more questions than answers. We all know someone like Justin, and you will look at them in a totally different way after this story! Nicely done with a twist I didn't see coming at the end.
Convincer:
A delicate gesture done in order to emphasize
a wrong conception, and strengthen the
audience’s belief in it. This describes Justin. He is charismatic, manipulative and a master of illusion. After his untimely death his wife, Annie, and business partner, Will, are left to clean up the mess he has left behind. “ What do you do when everything you thought you knew is a lie?
Seeking answers can be painful and heart wrenching.
Although the beginning was a little slow, the pace quickened with surprising twists and turns. Some of the plot was somewhat predictable, but it still propelled me to continue to the satisfying conclusion. This is the first book I’ve read by Nina Sadowsky, but definitely won’t be my last. Thank you NetGalley and Ballantine Books for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
5 stars and a round of applause!
Excellent POV writing. Each character was detailed and brought to life off of the pages. I could feel the anguish and the pain and the emotional stress.
This was a mind blowing story and 5 more stars for the authors use of the title and the name of the company in the book:

Very clever!!! 🙌

This book held my interest in a fun but let's not analyze it to death because it might not hold up type of way. While reading I was getting Lifetime movie vibes which is why I smiled when the author dropped a Lifetime reference into the story. And then, it made my day when I saw at the end of the book in the About The Author section that Nina Sadowsky has written screenplays and adaptations for Lifetime Television. It all makes sense! So yes, if you have parked yourself on your couch for a lazy weekend watching movie after movie on that channel, chances are you'll like this book.
Justin Childs is one charismatic guy. I guess I should say he was a charismatic guy because he's dead. Yup, his body is found in a wrecked car. What's strange is Valium is found in his system even though according to his wife, Annie, he detested any type of drugs. Annie also discovers there are quite a few things regarding Justin and his business that don't seem to add up. The story alternates between Annie who is searching for answers, Justin's friend and business partner, Will, and Justin's mom, Carol.
The story has a good setup and I found myself caught up in the whole mystery of Justin. But the main issue I had with the book is by the time I got to the end, it didn't really feel like anything significant had happened. The story starts off with potential but eventually runs out of steam.
It's a pretty quick read and even though I was disappointed in the last quarter or so, I was entertained for most of the story. It's a bit of a mindless read but that's not a bad thing in my opinion. Sometimes I am just in the mood for a book that isn't too challenging and can hold my interest. You know, kinda how I don't have to watch an award winning film every time I turn on the tv. Sometimes a Lifetime movie is the preferred option. If you don't go into this book expecting the world, you can just settle back like I did and have fun with it.

CONVINCE ME by Nina Sadowsky is a twisty and chilling thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat right up until the shocking ending. I could not put it down. Justin Childs is at the top of his game. He is handsome, smart and everyone he meets is drawn into his orbit. He means everything to his loving wife, Annie, his mother, Carol and his best friend and business partner, Will. When Justin’s body is pulled from the wreckage of a tragic car accident, those closest to him soon learn that Justin was not the man they thought they knew. Told from the points of view of Annie, Will and Carol, secrets, lies and betrayals are exposed that lead them to question everything they believed. The plot is expertly constructed to unfold at just the perfect pace while building suspense with every turn of the page. I thoroughly enjoyed this compelling psychological thriller and highly recommend it. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read an advance copy.
Annie and Justin appear to have a fairy tale life. He, popular and successful, she, madly in love with him. Their life is ripped apart when he dies in a car crash.
The story opens at his funeral and is told from the POV of Annie, Justin’s best friend, Will, and Justin’s mother. As each reflect back on their history with Justin, there are a few unheeded warnings that all might not be as perfect as it seems.
Right after the funeral, Annie and Will begin to discover some devastating truths.
This is a fast paced, can’t put it down read. Great for summer reading or a rainy afternoon on the couch.
Convince Me was a bold read right from the dedication page. I enjoyed it as a fast paced thriller and finished it within one sitting!
Sadowsky is an exceptional writer when it comes to using different POV's to paint together a story of lies, deceit, and twists. I especially enjoyed the concept of the lies and manipulations that took place and definitely could have read 100 more pages of it as the end came quite abruptly.
The characters don't develop much but we get the fun of unmasking the plot and I was satisfied with the conclusion. I would recommend this read if you are looking for something deliciously sinful but won't be mad if you didn't get all your questions answered.
This is a really great, beautifully written character study that is one hell of a brilliant psychological thriller. Take your time to slowly read the opening chapters as Sadowsky builds the tension while developing the lives and psyches of Justin and Annie, the made-for-each couple, their best friend Will who thinks of Justin as a brother and Justin’s devoted mother Carol, who put her heart and soul into raising Justin alone. Alternating chapters from each of their perspectives show how the charismatic Justin is the center of each of their lives. When a devastating car crash exposes an extraordinary web of deceit and manipulation of the three main people surrounding Justin the story flies off the page the way the car flew off the cliff and I literally could not stop reading until the last page, closed the kindle and gave a thoroughly satisfied sigh. One of the best of the year so far.
When will our female protagonists learn that if the guy seems to be too good to be true, run?! This time, the protagonist is Annie, and the guy is her beloved husband, Justin, who has just died in a shocking car accident. Soon after Justin's funeral, Annie and Justin's best friend and partner, Will, start discovering that the Justin they knew and loved was a terrific liar, and the business he and Will had built was a flimsy house of cards. Convince Me is told from the perspectives of Annie, Will, and Justin's mother Carol in alternating chapters.
The story isn't a new one, but author, Nina Sadowsky, makes it special nonetheless. It was one of those books that I picked up one afternoon, and the next thing I knew I was 65% of the way through and couldn't put it down until I finished. And the ending was a real surprise! The author skillfully develops the characters of Annie, Will, Carol, and helps the reader understand how Justin became the man he was. He is a particularly nuanced character.
Convince Me was a fast read and kept me interested every step along the way, beginning with an especially pointed dedication to liars that had me hooked. I thought it was terrific and will recommend it to all my friends. Thanks to NetGalley and Random House for providing me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was really good! It flowed nicely and all of the characters were relatable. All seemed so genuine ! So many twists and turns and great ending.
