This was a good puzzle book. There is a good variety in both type and difficulty. The Sherlock Holmes aspect is a bonus because who doesn't want to be Sherlock? Really enjoyed this.
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher and voluntarily chose to review it.

This is an interesting selection of Logic and Math problems. They do vary in difficulty and I did find some of them a little bit confusing with the way they were worded especially the desert and water carrying puzzle that continued over many pages.
This is a good book for anyone looking to test their brain.
Thanks to Netgalley.com and Wellfleet Press for my complimentary eARC copy.

*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Really cool book full of lots of games and brain teasers wouldn't mind owning a paperback copy :)

The puzzles range from pretty easy and straight forward to difficult and honestly quite confusing. I think a lot of the confusion/difficulty comes from the vague wording of the question, but I also think that that adds to the value of this book. The vague questions can help improve problem solving as well as prepares kids for questions they may encounter on school tests. It's quite fun to solve all of the questions and I think any kid who has an interest in math would really benefit from this. It's one thing to be able to learn math and duplicate it, but it's a whole other level to understand math and think outside of the box.

I am a huge fan of logic and math puzzles. This book is the best one I've seen in a long time, if not ever. The problems are deceivingly short but not at all easy. Although not a circulating library item perhaps, it would make an interesting program or activity for teens and adults alike. It's a great way to strengthen your critical thinking and math skills as well.

Well these puzzles were rather tough but also quite fun!

Certainly will keep me going for a number of weeks trying to decipher the systems and clues. The odd one or two to get you going are easier, but overall they were quite difficult.

Before each new section starts, the author provides a little history on the method used and then shows you how to crack it. Also included on each puzzle is a little hint at the bottom of the page to help.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I LOVE PUZZLES! There are a ton of puzzle books out there that are extremely hard to the point where I have put them down because it has become a chore to do them. While these math and logic puzzles are challenging, they are also solvable. If you get stuck, however, there’s always the answers in the back. This is not a book that you will digest in one sitting, which allows for multiple puzzle times. I love the subtle Sherlock Holmes theme throughout. Hats off to you, Mr. Berloquin for a well-done puzzle book series. I will follow these for years to come and look forward to purchasing the remaining series. If you enjoy puzzles you will definitely want to pick this up!

Most of us have a few minutes here and there to stretch our brains. Sherlock Holmes Puzzles: Math & Logic Games is the perfect book to pick up occasionally for a few minutes. With 104 puzzles testing various thinking skills, it is perfect to keep your mind active.

There are traditional logic puzzles, speed/distance math problems, chess conundrums and visual puzzles within Sherlock Holmes Puzzles: Math & Logic Games. Some are definitely challenging. Many build on prior puzzles so make sure you do them in order. I solved an earlier puzzle with the “The Final Desert Solution” well before it was necessary. The whimsical drawings and links to Sherlock Holmes make this an enjoyable book even if you can’t solve all the puzzles. Pretending to be a smarter Dr. Watson is fun too. Overall, this book is a great collection of puzzles. 5 stars!

Thanks to Wellfleet Press, Quarto Group, and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is a great book of little puzzles, 104 to be exact, where you need to use logic and math to solve them. Included are number, word, and picture patterns, all that can be solved with a little thought and creativity. I would love to use this for fast finishers or for extended practice for students. It also includes solutions to all 104 puzzles!

Perfect if You or a Child Love Logic Games

If you have ever enjoyed logic games—like figuring out who is telling the truth in a scenario when the people involved are clearly lying—this book is full of them. It also has puzzles that require math to solve. These are all framed in the context that you are Watson helping Sherlock Holmes figure out important clues. Some scenarios are interrelated. Each one is put on a single page, sometimes with a fun illustration and sometimes with an illustration that you need to help figure out the puzzle. If you enjoyed these when you were younger, as I did, you might like revisiting these types of logic puzzles. If you are a parent of a bright older child or teen who likes these kinds of logic puzzles, too, this could be a perfect book for a family game night as well. In looking at the solutions at the back, I thought some needed more explanation. Some geometry problems and solutions were inspired and truly got you thinking outside of the box.

Sherlock Holmes Puzzles has so many great brain teasers. They range from easy to hard and are so much fun to do. I've been doing this with some of my students and they really enjoy it. It's definitely a great break away from all the time spent on the computer or working. Highly recommend. It could be done alone or together with family!

Sherlock Holmes Puzzles: Math & Logic Games is is one of a new series of puzzle books for all ages. Due out 26th May from Quarto on their Wellfleet Press imprint, it's 128 pages and will be available in paperback format.

The Sherlock Holmes Puzzle series includes visual puzzles, brain teasers, math and logic puzzles and more, but this volume contains mostly cipher puzzles and riddles of all sorts (and not specifically math and logic puzzles). The puzzles are arranged in random order of difficulty as far as I can see (there are some I haven't managed yet).

The puzzles are accompanied by fun line drawings and hints/tips. (I found some of the instructions somewhat unclear). The solutions are included in the back of the book.

Really well done puzzles with tie-ins to the great detective himself.

Four stars. Lots of interesting puzzles to be found here.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Thank you to Pierre Beloquin and Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet Press for the opportunity to review this book in return for my honest review. Also thanks to Jean Rubak for the wonderful illustrations which really made this book.

The introduction to this book informs the reader that our job is to help Dr John H. Watson sharpen his maths and logic skills so that they end up on a par with his friend Sherlock Holmes.

This is achieved by the presentation of a number of logic puzzles which can be solved using maths and logic.

I liked the variety of puzzles and also liked how some puzzles carried the same theme but were a harder variation. I particularly liked the puzzles Jealousy in Boat, Jealously in a smaller boat and To say nothing of jealousy!

104 puzzles to keep you occupied. This book is the perfect book to pack in your suitcase and for the whole family to partake in. Highly recommend.

This is an interesting book. I thank Quarto/Wellfleet Press for the opportunity to read it with the purpose of writing a review. I really like math, and it was billed as math and logic games. I had planned to do these brain exercises to keep my brain busy during the stay-at-home time. I wasn't as pleased as I had hoped, because there seemed to be very few actual math problems. However, I did enjoy several of the puzzles. Each puzzle is one page, and there are a total of 104 puzzles, although some are slight changes in a previous problem. I have not actually tried every puzzle in the book, but the ones I did try were fairly short problems. Some were quite simple and easy such as the first one; some appeared to be quite difficult. A few had instructions which seemed a little misleading to me. I found it isn't a book you want to go through in a single session, but it is fun to jump around and try different kinds of puzzles.

I love logic games and puzzles and so the title and cover of this book, immediately caught my eye and the content did not disappoint. This will definitely appeal to all you budding detectives and Sherlock Holmes fans which is loaded with brain teasers and riddles. A great book that I would highly recommend.

Many thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this ARC for which I have given my voluntary and unbiased review.

Mystery and puzzles how clever to introduce math concepts to the reader. The games were a great way to proactively math concepts

I was disappointed in this book, which has more of a code-breaking focus than one on math and logic. Perhaps it's that it does not lend itself to an e-format, but I found it hard to use and the puzzles to be not very challenging, although I admit to not getting very far into it before becoming bored and moving on to something else.
