While the need for encouragement is greatly needed in the church today, this book really did not fill that need. Because it was one man's account of what has been going on in one man's ministry . . . and the "practical guidelines" could never take the place of timeless principles drawn from Scripture.
A principle can be symbolized by a rifle bullet . . . in the hands of a sniper, it is incredibly effective, and quite often "lethal" in its impact. Jesus - Pure and Simple was a cartridge fired from a 12-gauge shotgun . . . the intention is to hit something, somewhere.
Personally, I prefer the rifle.
