I think fans of cowboy romances will enjoy this one, but it just isn't my genre. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone interested.
I love this book! I am a sucker for Cowboys and Cowboy romance books. I get excited when I read a book and Love. I am ready for her next book.
This is a cowboy romance, and it is the 2nd book in the Meadow Valley series. I found this book very good. It started off that the two people started fake dating then they fall in love. I think the characters where very well developed, and I love the plot/the story line. The ending was so good. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Forever Romance) or author (A.J. Pine) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
AJ Pine writes some of my favorite cowboy romances, I adored the first book in this series so much! Unfortunately Ben's story didn't grab me quite as well, and I ultimately decided to DNF for now and move onto the third book. I will go back and try this one again at a later point.
I simply can never get enough of the generous, kind ways of a Cowboy in these books. A Cowboy ALWAYS shows up when needed and is the strong and steady... swoon. Charlotte and Ben have history that hits them in the face every time they are together! I love a good second chance romance and that is just what this is.
This was a DNF for me. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story instead of the beginning right from the start. I'm not sure if Ben's story was mentioned in a previous book or something, but it was off putting, and made it impossible to get into the flow of the story. Also I'm used to text messages being made to stand out, not being written as part of a paragraph. Another thing that took me out of the story, and that was just in chapter 1. There is a lot of stuff too this story as well. A lot of different story lines, and I didn't feel like trying to make my way through all the clutter. This was a first for me from this author, but I would be willing to read her again.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
4 Stars from Renee!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, pain, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Cowboy to the Rescue (Meadow Valley)
My One and Only Cowboy (Meadow Valley, #1)
This is Charlotte and Ben’s story. Charlotte is in town to help her grandmother. But when her grandmother starts meddling in her love life, she knows she must do something. She is only in town for a few months but knows she needs to do something, or her grandmother is going to out wit her. She ropes in Ben. He is a super-hot cowboy and she has no problems spending time with him. The agree to a fake relationship but what happens when they both start falling? She has a life in New York. Could she ever want to stay in town? With Ben? Or in the end will she just leave him behind?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I’m a huge fan of A.J. Pine’s cowboy romances & this one doesn’t disappoint! I was happy to read Ben & Charlotte’s story! These two have a small past of passion but start a fake relationship when Charlotte comes back to town to help with her grandmother all the whole hoping for this bigger dr job! Ben is the sexy cowboy brother from book 1! He is wanting to make roots and make his life better than what he’s been doing. These two have some sizzling chemistry and they can’t deny it! I LOVE every page of their story and their way to an HEA! I just adore the characters for this book! I can’t wait for the next one! I really enjoyed this entire series! I highly recommend this book or any other by A.J.!
Dr.Charlotte North is coming up to some unused vacation days as well as her mother being out of commission after a fall so she decides to help her grandmother. It seems with all this free time her grand mother is trying to play match maker so she gets Ben Callanhan to help her out an pretend to be her boyfriend. Things are so different from when they last knew eachother and it seems that this arrangement is having them push boundaries make things complicated.
If you like contemporary romance you'll like this book. I enjoyed Ben and Charlottes characters. Ben has been going through stuff and now in a way just found out that he got a new lease on life and can settle down in a way he didn't believe he could. It was fun watching Charlotte form friendships that she thought she couldn't have because of her busy life in the city as a doctor kind of limited the time she had but it was what she needed at the time. You can see why she loved her life when you get her backstory but things are different now and changes are coming for these two whether they like it or not. Overall I enjoyed this book and think you readers will too.
Make Mine a Cowboy was a great feel-good romance. It was fun, flirty, and heart-warming.
Charlotte is in town for a couple of months to take care of her grandmother, and she has a career in New York, so she's not willing to invest in a real relationship. But in Ben she sees a sweet and sexy cowboy to not only spend some time with, but also to help her get her meddling grandma off her back. Queue fake relationship.
From day 1, Ben realizes that his feelings for Charlotte are not of the temporary/fake relationship type. But he needs to convince her of that, and at the same time convince the town that knows him as a playboy that he's in this for real.
I love that Ben and Charlotte are there for each other from the first. They, and the rest of the town, frankly, are supportive, caring, loving, fun, loyal and kind. The whole story has plenty of romance, lots of fun, and some sizzling chemistry when called for.
Looking forward to more in this series.
Heartwarming, sexy, fun and emotionally thrilling journey filled with engaging charters, witty and fun dialog, heart racing twists, sweet moments and thrilling passion. This is a great read that is so hard to put down.
Second chances are my favorite trop and this book is full of them. The characters are endearing and the story line engaging. It is the second book in the series. I did not read the first book and unfortunately, the author failed to provide a paragraph or two toward the beginning of the book to give enough backstory to the situation. I still don't know how and why Ben, Sam and Colt came to buy the Meadow Valley Ranch, how old they were when Ben and Sam's mother left them, anything about Oak Bluff and how their parents got back together. That is the only con that I have about the book and why I only gave it 4 stars.
The book starts off in a doctor's office as they wait the results of Sam's blood test to determine whether he is likely to have early-onset Alzheimer's like their father has. Ben had secretly taken the test 6 months ago and with the positive results had been acting like his life was over and became detached from everyone. But the doctor also informs him that his results were negative and the lab gave him another patient's results. So now he has a second chance with life and his family and friends. A few weeks ago he had had a vacation fling with the granddaughter, Charlotte North of Pearl Sweenry owner of the Meadow Valley Inn. Because of her wanderlust parents, Charlotte craved structure and turned to science for stability. After the loss of her grandfather, she decided to become a doctor and she is now a workaholic, pediatrician in NYC, with no close friends. But when Pearl falls, Charlotte takes a leave of absence to come care for her grandmother and help run the Inn. Now Charlotte and Ben have a second chance with each other, first as friends and then more- if they will open up their hearts and be honest with their feelings.
I read an ARC that I received from NetGalley.com. this is my voluntary and unbiased review.

This book starts off with the resolution of an issue that was being dealt with in the last book and, I can't lie, I was really happy not only for the actual resolution but for the way it was handled.
Charlotte and Ben were supposed to be a short term fling, but things have changed for Ben and all of a sudden he sees her as more. The problem? She is leaving in a few months and didn't really sign up for "more" with Ben than a hot fling.
It's hard to review this one and not give away the things that have changed and the reasons that he has changed, and the events that happen in this one that alter how he sees life in general, so I will just say I enjoyed this title, not only because it has a strong romance but also because it dealt in a really believable way, with some human emotions and frailties that we all face.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
This story is a heartwarming, feel good romance! Make Mine A Cowboy will take your emotions through all the ranges and leave you wanting more. A beautiful tale that you won't soon forget. A witty story filled with laughter, romance and a swift punch to your gut. This was my first book by the author and I won't hesitate to buy anything she releases in the future.
I absolutely loved the beginning of this book where the hero, Ben, has a moment of clarity that he should stop living in the moment and think of a future.
Charlotte is a woman who needs structure and facts (seriously, she calms down by reading textbooks) and that is upended when her grandma falls off a ladder. Though the town would have rallied around and kept grandma's inn going, Charlotte feels guilty and comes back to help run the inn and keep her grandma corralled. Grandma Pearl decided this was the perfect time to try and get Charlotte back to California by setting her up with the local available men. Charlotte doesn't like the unknown....and since Ben and she had a vacation fling, he's a known so she asks him to be her fake boyfriend.
As Ben and Charlotte get to know each other and themselves we get to see a friendship grow into love and respect.
Ms. Pine does a wonderful job of making the secondary characters a full part of the story and I can't wait to read more about them all. I didn't realize that this was the second in the series when I started reading the book and it does well as a stand alone book (in other words, I read it and enjoyed it without having read the first book :) ) .
It was my first A.J. Pine book but won't be my last.
4.5 Stars
Thank you Forever Publishing for a gifted copy of AJ Pines new book ❤️ for my sassy thoughts in return!
What a great romance story. I connected a lot with the MC over her dreams to be a successful woman on her own to her love of making lists.
I feel like nothing is better than a hunky cowboy that is hung up on letting his feelings show then decide he will do anything for the one he loves.
Both main characters are strong willed but choose to come to a compromise of what works for them and their relationship, and I loved this! A lot of books make one character give up their lives for another and I didn’t see that in this book 👏🏻
I have enjoyed the previous books in this series, a novella, Cowboy to the Rescue and the first book, My One and Only Cowboy. The previous book had a very sweet love story with a bit of an emotional edge. That is continued in this book, Make Mine a Cowboy. Ben Callahan is about to get some very important news, news that will affect not only the rest of his life, but the life choices he makes. Just as he is coming to terms with this news, he is roped into pretending to be a woman's boyfriend.
This is no easy task, because the woman, Dr. Charlotte North, is someone that affects Ben on a very deep level. But, why is he agreeing to do this? Charlotte is in town because her grandmother has been injured and so Charlotte takes some time away from her duties as a doctor to help her grandmother to heal, as well as to take on duties at the ranch that Ben owns with his brother and their friend. She and Ben have a bit of a history, thus a connection that Charlotte knows will work.
So, the question comes up, why have a pretend boyfriend. Well, Charlotte's loving grandmother wants her busy granddaughter settled and happy, and so while Charlotte is in town, just maybe she can be set up and find the man of her dreams. Charlotte decides to thwart that by asking Ben to pretend to be her boyfriend around their grandmother.
It works. Sort of. They do make a believable couple, but that is more due to the emotional and physical attraction they both share, thus making pretend actually look very real. Meanwhile, that issue that all but floored Ben is never far from his mind. As a matter of fact, he is about to make some serious changes in his life and also hopes to change how others view him.
I really enjoyed this book by A.J. Pine. I loved the characters and the plot, with the extra level of emotional angst. Also, I loved the "impossible" nature of the story when it came to resolving the conflicts that affected Ben and Charlotte. This is an endearing story that concluded with a very warm ending.
Many thanks to Forever Yours and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
MAKE MINE A COWBOY is the second instalment in AJ Pine’s contemporary, adult MEADOW VALLEY erotic, romance series focusing on the small town of Meadow Valley, California. This is twenty-nine year old, rancher Ben Callahan, and Dr. Charlotte North’s story line. MAKE MINE A COWBOY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Charlotte and Ben were first introduced in the earlier story lines.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Charlotte and Ben) twenty-nine year old, rancher Ben Callahan, and Dr. Charlotte North. Several weeks earlier, Charlotte North met Ben Callahan while on vacation in Meadow Valley, California but when her Aunt Pearl, the local B&B owner falls and requires several weeks of recovery, Charlotte takes a leave of absence from her New York practice, and returns to Meadow Valley where her previous relationship with Ben Callahan is about to reignite old feelings and emotional withdrawal. In an attempt to keep Aunt Pearl from playing matchmaker, Charlotte begs Ben Callahan to pretend to be in a long distance relationship that is about to pick up where it left off weeks before. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Ben and Charlotte, and the potential fall-out as Charlotte’s time in Meadow Valley comes to an end.
Ben Callahan fell hard for Charlotte North but knew her time in Meadow Valley was only temporary. With Charlotte’s return to Meadow Valley came hopes for a future for Ben but all does not go according to plan when family heart break forces Ben to look at the bigger picture as Charlotte prepares to leave for her practice back home. Charlotte North has established herself as a wonderful physician and moving to Meadow Valley was never in the plans. A temporary stay over while her aunt recovered from a fall, Charlotte found herself pulled into the family, friendships and love of our story line hero, a love Charlotte knew she could never equal in return.
The relationship between Charlotte and Ben is one of second chances; a fake relationship disguised as a rekindling romance but a romance that quickly develops into something more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Ivy and Carter (Cowboy to the Rescue .5), Sam and Delaney (My One and Only Cowboy #1), as well as Sam and Ben’s business partner Colt, and their parents Nolan and Barbara Ann Callahan, Charlotte’s Aunt Pearl, chef Luis and local produce supplier Anna, B&B clerk Tyler, and fire Chief Burnett.
MAKE MINE A COWBOY is a story of family, friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is contemplative, playful and engaging ; the conflict is limited to Charlotte’s need to keep up appearances in the face of the ‘fake’ romance; the romance is captivating and seductive.

A fun fake romance turned more storyline about Ben a rancher and Charlotte - a big city doctor.
Ben and Charlotte had a nice little fling over her vacation to visit her grandmother in Meadow Valley. She never expected to be back in town so soon and now she finds herself in a friendship with her fling. But when her grandmother decides to start butting into her relationship status, she recruits Ben to help her. She thought she could resist the sexy cowboy, but when her feelings and his start to turn into more, she doesn't know what to do.
This was super cute and I LOVED the witty dialogue between the two of them. I love AJ Pine's cowboy tales and this is yet another one I will place in the WIN category.
I read this book in 24 hours. I enjoyed it a lot. I love how ben got good news and started to like life again. Meadow valley is the best. My favorite couple is Carter and ivy. I thought it was funny how she integrate "What's up doc?" Reminded me bugs bunny. Made me giggle. My husband was like what are you laughing at. I especially love the part where she leaves him standing in his room butt naked. 🤤🤤🤤 definitely recommend 5 star
