This book was grittier than I expected but the story had me hooked. I was also obsessed with Althea and Benedict. Definitely don’t regret picking this one up.
Get the tissues for this one. I knew all along Beast would have an amazing story, but this was better than I imagined. He and Thea were just wonderful. Ill more than likely reread this whole series at some point
I really enjoyed this book. It took me a while to read it because I actually went back and read other books by this author first. I had forgotten how much I loved historical romances!
I love Lorraine Heath and this family. And it absolutely pains me to do this, but I had to DNF Beauty Tempts the Beast. I was so excited to read this one after Scoundrel of my Heart, but I don't think I was in the right headspace for historical romance. I put it down about a month ago, and never picked it up again. I am hoping to finish this series in order, I hope then I'll be able to finish this book! DNF for now.
Beauty Tempts the Beast (Sins for All Seasons #6). By Lorraine Heath. 2020. Avon (ARC eBook).
Benedict “Beast” Trewlove and Althea Stanwick’s story was a really enjoyable and heartwarming adventure to go in the wrapping up of the Sins for All Seasons series; and what a sweet epilogue! Althea was a great fit for Benedict and I am also curious about Althea’s brothers, so spin-off, here I come!
Another amazing book by Lorraine Heath! Beauty Tempts the Beast has it all. I recommend this book to all readers of the romance genre.
Beauty Tempts the Beast by Lorraine Heath is the sixth novel in her Sins for All Seasons series. This book gives readers the stunning story of Althea Stanwick, the daughter of a disgraced duke and Benedict Trewlove, a one they call “Beast”—a protector who moves seamlessly through the dark alleys of Whitechapel. Lorraine Health novels hold the most enchanting love stories. It is so easy to fall into one of her books and stay up all night reading it. Beauty Tempts the Beast by Lorraine Heath is a beautiful and poignant retelling of the age-old fairy tale that keeps all of the longstanding magic and creates much more of its own.
Anything Lorriane Heath writes is amazing! Her books always make you wanting more. Her stories are so engaging and her characters are so in depth. Just love her books!
I really liked this book and didn't want to put it down. Beast was a great hero. There were so many layers to his character that I enjoyed that they were slowly told. Althea, was a strong main character as well. She had depth and did things that were unexpected.
Lorraine Heath presents another strong work featuring a down on her luck heroine ruined by her father's betrayal and a rough around the edges hero who made his own family. As with her other works, another great read.
Lorraine Heath does not disappoint in this story of a couple who find each other, make wrong assumptions, but discover themselves and each other in the end. The story's emotional notes are pitch perfect and I fully enjoyed spending time with these characters. This book was not particularly surprising, but it was so well-executed that it didn't diminish the enjoyability at all. If you've loved historical romance in the past, you will love this book, too.
This was my first introduction to the Trewloves and the Stanwicks and I was inspired to seek out the rest of their stories. It is easy to overdo stories that involve a surly protector and a woman living in reduced circumstances but Heath handled the trope well. Both Beast and Althea felt like real, complex characters. When they made mistakes, it felt like in-character, human foible rather than something to advance the plot or justify romantic moments. The supporting characters were well0rounded and interesting (hence why I wanted to know more!). I will definitely be looking for the next installment in the series.
“Who’d have ever thought that this could be? True that he’s no Prince Charming But there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see.” - Belle
I love a Beauty and the Beast retelling! Anybody? This story was great! Beast was frightening and gentle and sexy as hell. Althea was beautiful, outspoken and brave. The story didn’t rush anything between and the chemistry was great.
The first part of this was a 5 star for sure but at about 80% it dropped to a low 4. When people start breaking up over silly things I get a little crazy. Just me, I can’t help it.
Over all a wonderful story. I highly recommend if you love sexy, intimate historical romance.
Thank you HarperCollins via Netgalley for this ebook. I’ve voluntarily given my review. Happy Reading.
Really Liked this one! I was immediately drawn to Althea's fall from high society into poverty story, its not often a story goes the opposite way. I also liked the way she came back and found herself, her true character. The Beast's storyline I think was well done as well although I would have liked more of it. I loved how caring and understanding he was to Althea's plight and in helping her. Also liked that even though the title would suggest a beauty and the beast re-telling, it is not at all like it, it is creative and imaginative.
Overall a strong story, well written, good editing. I highly recommend.
I was given an advanced e-copy in exchange for my review.
OH My - Lorraine Heath has become a favorite Historical Romance writer for me this year. I recently found and binged all her books and so when I see her name come upon a new release I know I have to read it immediately.
The Trewlove family has my utter adoration and love. I am so sad to see the end of this series but I'm happy I'm able to go back and reread them regularly.
Thank you so much for sharing an early copy!
This series is an interesting exploration of the English disdain for children born outside of marriage. While a fun romance, Heath includes many historical tidbits that make for fascinating reading.
Benedict Trewlove, aka Beast, is the last of Ettie Trewlove's children to remain unwed. He's also the only one who doesn't know who his real parents are/were. Althea Stanwick has been shunned by society due to her father (a duke) being caught in a plot to kill the queen; he's been hung, her mother has died, and her two brothers are off trying to redeem their family through probably illegal means. She meets Beast at a pub where she's working, and the sparks fly. He proposes a legitimate work option for her to get her out of the pub, where she's is totally out of her league, and she comes back with a counter proposal -- teach her what a man likes so she can become a courtesan and get back at society.
This is the final book in the Sins for All Season series, and is a great conclusion. It was great seeing all Ben's 'siblings' and meeting Beast's birth parents. Watching him as a protector was yummy!. Now there's another series coming, about Althea's brothers, and it should be just as much fun as the rest..
Put this at the top of your reading list for 2020!
I absolutely loved this book! It gave me happy vibes and I cheered along the way for these two characters.
As for context, Althea is no longer part of the English ton. With her parents death, she has been forced to find her own way with her brothers. Reality has served her with a p[ate of reality. Shocked by being turned out of her home and forced to find work to make ends meet. Overnight Althea became less than ordinary.
Beast is apart of the Trewlove pack and vastly becomes vastly consumed by Althea. He is drawn to her and an unlikely friendship is born. Beast is protective of his family as well as his friends. It becomes no surprise when he feels the need to assist Althea as he feels somewhat responsible for her. Therefore he offers her deal she can’t turn down.
I loved their simple story and their ability to embrace others. It was heart warming! I definitely cried- the Trewlove story is so touching!
Obviously this is a romance so there was plenty of hot and sexy material.
I rate this a five out of five. I would definitely recommend this book!
I was provided this ARC by Netgalley in exchange for a honest review,.
I liked the idea of the premise well enough, but I put the book down and didn’t come back to it for several days and didn’t regret it.
This is a high-stakes story about a duke's daughter trying to survive after her family's fall from grace. Althea wants Ben to instruct her in the art of seduction so she can leave the terrifying world of Whitechapel and return to Mayfair—even if it's as a courtesan. Ben wants her to teach the women under his protection how to be more polished so they can enter into more honorable employment. When he learns the truth about his origins, can their burgeoning love survive?
The tense plot coupled with expertly drawn characters makes for a compelling read. The heroine and hero are likable and relatable. The emotions between them are intense. This is the first book I've read in the series, but I'm looking forward to going back and reading them all.
Thanks, NetGalley and HarperCollins, for providing me with an ARC of this book.
