I've been a fan of Savich and Sherlock for years and this new FBI Thriller may be my favorite one I've read in a while. Full of all the things that make a good Catherine Coulter novel, this was a hard one to put down. So many favorite characters, a great mystery (or two!) and twists that keep the reader guessing. Well done and I will always pick up one of these novels! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is another great book in the FBI series featuring Savich and Sherlock. I have read most of the books in this series and this one does not disappoint. I enjoyed it immensely.
There are two storylines, one is a woman who is being targeted by a medium to find out a secret her grandfather told only to her in stories and poems The second is the sociopath who FBI caught and is awaiting trial. She is after Savich and Sherlock’s family to get revenge.
There are several recurring characters and a few new ones to help with both investigations.
The book is well written and moves along quickly. I read it in just of couple of days. I recommend this book and this series highly. I want to thank Net Galley and the author for an advanced copy for an honest review.
There are many unexpected twists and turns to this mystery. An attempt is made to kidnap a woman. There is arson. There is a medium contacting the dead. There are puzzles. Great story.
Although this is the 24th book in this beloved FBI thriller series , it can certainly be enjoyed and understood as a stand alone novel. Two story-lines are seamlessly interwoven proving Coulter to be a masterful storyteller. Yet again, she delivers a suspenseful an engaging thriller that keeps the reader on the edge of the seat until the thrilling conclusion. Once again ... we enter the ever forboding world of the husband and wife duo of FBI agents , Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock, Marsia Gay, known psychopath, is locked behind bars and awaiting a trial that may never happen ... the star witness is a co-conspirator that may not survive her prison confinement. Marsia wants revenge on Savich and wants to destroy what he holds most dear ... his wife and son, Sean. Savich incidentally appears at the right place and thwarts an abduction attempt of Rebeka ... the rich , very young wife of an older Senator. In the course of investigation, Savich learns that Rebeka has just attended a "fake" seance with the mysterious medium, Zoltan. The medium insisted that her beloved and deceased grandfather had contacted her and needed to urgently talk with her. Rebekah was skeptical and would not reveal the contents of a memorized poem that was entrusted to her to keep secret. Apparently this may prove helpful in uncovering the whereabouts of a cache of ill-gotten gains from a remote heist that may have been orchestrated by her grandfather. At the same time, Savich starts to receive a series of three red boxes at the Hoover Building ... each containing a selection of puzzle pieces slowly revealing a pier, littered with bones and dead birds. One of the agents, Pippa Cinelli qickly identifies the site of the mysterious pier, as her home town of St Lumus. The chase is on!
Coulter seamlessly weaves a complex, twisted narrative revealing a possible linkage to the ongoing events. The plot inexorably escalates into a page turner, culminating in an exhilarating and unexpected denouement .
Nothing deep here .... just pure unadulterated fun!! Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for providing an Uncorrected Proof in exchange for an honest review. Publication Date: July 28, 2020

Another amazing Savich and Sherlock book. This one has us back with Marsia Gay and has her trying her best to make sure her trial doesn’t go forward by getting rid of the star witness. In the meantime, Savich is getting some really odd deliveries and is trying to figure out what is going on and why someone is mailing him a really strange puzzle. There were three storylines here that all seem intertwined and it all gets tied together neatly at the end. I do wish we had a better ending where Rebekah was concerned and the epilogue was a bit confusing to me but overall this was another phenomenal book by Catherine Coulter.
Wow I'm just stunned with how good this title was. I just had so much fun reading this title and getting to along for the ride with these amazing characters. I'm so excited to see what's next from this author.
Color me happy. I really enjoy all of Catherine Coulters writing and Savich and Sherlock feel like family members as I have been with them since book 1.. These books just meet all my happy points. There is intrigue, suspense, there is mayhem and there are relationships built on respect. How can you not love an FBI big shot who has a sports car, who is married to a women whose intelligence matches or exceeds his own and their ability to make their team a family. The "vicious psychopath in the blurb was true evil, There are two stories running through out this book, or is there. A really enjoyable read, Took me away from all the present miseries in the world. Thank you! Thank you to Catherin Coulter, Gallery Books and NetGalley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and freely submitted. just screamed true evil.
Wonderful book as always, It kept me up late reading , had a couple different story lines going at one time, and I enjoyed that very much, I wish they would have told where the bonds where, that would have been nice to have found out.I look forward to the next Catherine Coulter Book.
I believe I have all of the Savich and Sherlock FBI series books so was excited for the chance to read this one, as well. Honestly, though, it didn't feel like my beloved author, Catherine Coulter wrote it. I even checked to see if there was a co-writer. No. While it kept my attention and I stayed up half the night to read it, it just didn't have the same "pizzazz" as the others.
There are, seemingly, two different stories, and I had to wonder how they were going to connect with each other, but, of course, they did. Despite what I said above, it was a real treat to spend time with the family again!
Catherine Coulter's umpteenth book in her FBI series delivers the goods her fans have been waiting for. Filled with humor and mystery, Deadlock finds agents Sherlock and Savich battling on two fronts.
Someone is sending Savich puzzle pieces at the Hoover building. A killer about to stand trial has attacked Sherlock and their son. Someone has tried to kidnap a congressman's wife after she visits a medium who tells her that her grandfather hid a stolen fortune for her to recover after his death.
Just another day in the lives of Sherlock and Savich and their agents in the CAU. Always recommended.
I love Catherine Coulter books and this one did not disappoint.
As is typical with the FBI books, there is more than one case going on throughout the book. Agent Savich happened to stumble across and intercept the attempted kidnapping of a congressman's wife, Rebekah. She has recently laid to rest her beloved Grandfather, who spend her whole life telling her funny stories and taught her a poem he asked to always keep a secret. It appears the stories and poem were not a silly child's entertainment, but rather a very old secret and clues to a hidden fortune, one that came by her Grandfather illegally.
Simultaneously, someone is threatening Savich's family, and has attempted to kill both Sherlock and their son. Dillon is given clues in the form of a puzzle, and he enlists the help of a new FBI agent, Pippa, to figure out who is behind the threats before anyone gets killed.
As the story unfolds, the number of people involved in the two cases, and the revelations made, make for a page turning story. The characters are enjoyable and the plot flows easily from scene to scene. I love all the books in this series, and I am already looking forward to the next.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Well we are back with Savich and Sherlock. We get two cases in this book. Savich happens to be at the right place at the right time. While one case is happening another one falls into Savich's lap. With time not on their side the team rallies to find out the clues and get answers. I did figure somethings out took awhile but not all and the book still made me think. Which is all part of the fun reading it. You could read this book as a stand alone or read it as part of the series. Either way you will enjoy this book.
*I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
I enjoyed this book. It kept my entranced. It has multiple events going on which all lead to the main one. I like the characters, they're easy to root for, the fbi agents and the police. I was surprised by who some of the bad guys where, and sorry to see that justice was not gotten for all. #Deadlock #NetGalley
Deadlock is another FBI series story that will intrigue and keep you reading until the end. Lots of action and many twist to unravel. The characters and plots just keep getting better with each book.
All is right in the world with a new Catherine Coulter story ;)
This one is full of action, twists, turns, new and old characters and it looks like more to come. I loved the small town mix within the story and how the puzzle came together.
Let me preface this review by saying that I am a huge fan of Catherine Coulter and her FBI Thriller series, with Savich and Sherlock being my favorite FBI duo. That said, “Deadlock” is a very good story overall, but it didn’t quite meet my fervent expectations. The premise was promising, pulling me in right from the very start, but it failed to keep me fully engaged. Hence, it took me longer than usual to finish this latest installment to one of my favorite series. Still, if you are a Savich and Sherlock fan as I am, you will want to give this one a chance. It’s still a very enjoyable story, just not a 5-star read.
It definitely took me a bit to finally finish this book. I'm not sure that it was really any fault of the author, it just wasn't the best timing for me to devour a book. I feel like the pacing was done well and I grew to like the characters, though it took longer than normal since I jumped into the middle of the series. It was definitely a tried and true method of mystery/thriller writing but I still enjoyed it.
I have loved Sherlock and Savich for more than 15 years. Each installment brings their quirky lovable personalities along with at least one, usually two, mysteries. In Deadlock it all begins with a puzzle. As the story unfolds the pieces don't seem to fit. Meanwhile, Savich saves a woman from a kidnapping attempt and brings Agent Hammersmith in to guard her. For the puzzle case Savich brings in a new agent Pippa Cinelli to help solve the mystery and the story gets more intriguing. The story was fast paced with many twists and turns and unknown assailants. Overall this wasn't my favorite in the FBI series, I felt there were characters that could have been more developed and the storyline was a little less deep than previous books. Still, I would recommend this book as a satisfying novel that Coulter fans will enjoy.
This book was CLASSIC Catherine Coulter! Such a good mystery with a sub mystery along with it! I really love that we get to keep reading about Savich and Sherlock and their lives together. So many authors are one and done once a couple falls in love, so it is extra special to keep seeing into their lives!
Another fantastic book by Catherine Coulter! I love reading about Savich, Sherlock, and their son Sean. They have to solve 2 different crimes and keep their family safe. Good thing that they have a lot of friends, family, and coworkers that they can count on. This is a fast paced book- I couldn't put it down! I can't wait for the next one!
