First introduction to this author and his main character Megan Carpenter.
Has it left me wanting more ?
You bet it has.
Cracking read that had me hooked from page one. Ms Carpenter presents a tough exterior and is very much a loner but softens as the case proceeds and the partner she finds herself with against proves her worth.
Looking for more of the same please.

I love this series! Snow Creek was such a brilliant first installment and Water’s Edge has now cemented my love for this entertaining crime thriller series and the MC, Megan Carpenter.

I do love a good, unique lead Detective. There is darkness around Megan. She’s a loner with a dark past and an even darker secret. I like how she was paired with rookie Deputy Ronnie Marsh who is everything Megan isn’t. She is loud, babbly and open. The two make a great team with their astuteness and determination to solve the case.

This was another hard case to crack. At some point, I really thought I had figured out the identity of the perpetrator. I even started writing this review in my head to express my disappointment. I should have known though! No way the author was going to make it so easy. It was quite a pleasant surprise in the end to find out that the unsub wasn’t even on my list of suspects.

This is a fast-paced, suspense filled, page turner that will keep you guessing until the last page. What a brilliant addition to the series. Eagerly waiting for the third book.

Like the 1st book in the series this did not disappoint.
Thoroughly enjoyed the developing partnership with Ronnie as well as the ongoing unravelling of Megan’s past.
Already looking forward to the next instalment.

This is the latest book featuring Detective Megan Carpenter and to fully appreciate it I would
recommend reading the previous book ... but can be read as a standalone .

A serial killer is on the loose and Megan attacks the case with her usual tenacity ..... although her views on killers is usually an eye for an eye and not always legal justice .
She has a new partner , rookie , Ronnie which allows for a touch of humour to enter the the storyline as the case and their relationship develops .
The pace is fast , there are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing right until the end - although
the reveal provides additional drama .
A well thought out police procedural crime thriller which keeps the reader entertained .

I was given an arc of the book by NetGalley and the Publisher in exchange for an honest review

Back with Megan Carpenter and murders. But this time she has a "partner" Ronnie.
Another well crafted book with no so much back story.
A cracking finish. I eagerly await the next book in the series!

After reading the first book in the series - Snow Creek, I knew that I absolutely had to read the next book & I was glad I did. Water's Edge is a great new addition to the Detective Megan Carpenter series. The cover too was fabulous. I liked that there were some new characters introduced & hopefully we see them develop in the future books. The plot is suspenseful & the case is tricky. There were a good number of twists & nail-biting moments that had me racing through the book. Megan is a complex character & its nice to see that the author teases out her quirks & characteristics in a very well-paced manner. I liked Ronnie & hope to see more of her in the next books. I wouldn't mind some more quirky characters on the team, Right now, Megan flies solo most of the time & it would be nice to see her develop a rapport with some more characters. Although it was considerably easy to guess who the killer was, the plot twists had me second-guessing everything. The end was amazing & I cant wait to read more about Carpenter & her 'dysfunctional' family.

Thank You, NetGalley, Bookouture & Gregg Olsen for an arc!

Another excellent book from Greg Olsen. It was fast paced, well written and the characters were believable. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.
I am happy to give my unbiased opinion and would like to thank Greg Olsen, Bookouture and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I don't think Gregg Olsen has the ability to write a bad book. Always great writing, great characters (whether real or not). This one does not disappoint either. Looking forward to more.
Very much recommend.

I liked this book alot. I had to read the first in the series ( Snow Creek) which i like alot.. The second was just as good. I am hoping for a 3rd. The characters are extremely to like. Detective Megan Carpenter is the Main Character and I enjoyed getting to know her as I think there is much more to know. Fingers crossed there is a third.

I didn't realize this was part of a series when I started reading, but worked fine reading as a stand alone, there was enough information to enjoy the story. This is my first fiction by this author and I've enjoyed it and will try reading the others in the series. This was a good story, and good characters. I'd definitely recommend the series to others as I read more of them. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC and provide an honest feedback!

A body on a beach is the new case for Detective Megan Carpenter. It soon becomes clear that there is a serial killer on the loose...
I absolutely loved the first book featuring Megan and this second book in the series Water's Edge was an enjoyable police thriller but didn't pack quite the same punch. Megan's backstory which featured heavily in the first book was of secondary importance this time.
I enjoyed the first person narrative again as Megan negotiates a new professional relationship when she is partnered with rookie Ronnie. This character development allowed touches of humour to contrast with the grisly deaths that form the main plot and the experiences from Megan's past.
Megan is a tenacious and determined police officer, haunted by her own past. She uses her role in the police to hunt down killers with the idea of 'an eye for an eye' rather than legal justice.
There are plenty of suspects and twists to keep the reader entertained and guessing until the end. I would have liked to know a little more about the motive but enjoyed the extra drama of the reveal.
The plot is delivered in short chapters to maintain the pace and make you read just one more when you should be doing something else!
I believe that Water's Edge would work as a stand alone novel but I think it would be beneficial to read the first in the series, Snow Creek, which I have previously reviewed.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review -
Megan, a tough women cop with an awful childhood leads the investigation, with Ronnie , a newbie, into the murdered redhead women who show signs of bondage, rape, and horrible abuse.
As they follow the leads - someone is watching their every move. Soon Megan receives upsetting messages, someone seems to know her past.
Can Megan and Ronnie find the killer? Is it someone close to them - maybe even a cop?
Get ready for a great read!!

First off, I admit, I'm a Gregg Olsen fan.
Not just the story-lines, but more than that; I'm a fan of the characters.
Olsen gets right into their heads, and we're along for the ride.

When I saw that I was reviewing the second book in the Detective Megan Carpenter series, I held off, and purchased the first book in the series, Snow Creek. And I'm glad I did.

Megan Carpenter is a somewhat complex character, a loner in the police department, trying to do what's right.
She's relentless in her pursuit of the bad guy, the serial killer; at the same time exorcising the demons of her past - with her serial killer father at the center of it.

Although this book, Water's Edge, can stand on it's own, I found that reading the first book helped to enrich my understanding of the character and the story-line.

In this story, Megan carries on as a homicide detective in Jefferson County, Washington State. She's a loner, doesn't want a partner; she wants to keep life simple - no partners, no relationships. The calamities of her past have made her steadfast in her pursuit of the bad guy; and she feels that she can do it best alone. But the sheriff has ordered her to take a new young recruit on a ride along. And so it goes.

One killing leads to another. Women with similar backgrounds and physical characteristics are raped and killed, and laid out in ritual fashion on the rocky ocean-side in Washington state. Megan and her temporary partner Ronnie Marsh, sift through the usual suspects, working with forensic scientists and doctors to get the bad guy. As they do, they put themselves in imminent danger and find their bad guy is closer than they think.

This is a good read, good story-line - great characters.
I've purposely stayed away from spoiler. You should enjoy it.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture, and Gregg Olsen for the opportunity to provide this unbiased review.

I liked the main character a lot, smart, damaged, sarcastic, honest. the mystery was good, though sometimes it felt like there were too many minor characters to keep track of, but overall the story was interesting. it is book 2, i did read the first book, but believe this would be fine as a stand a lone book

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a copy of Water's Edge in exchange for an honest review.

A notice for readers of this book, some parts - especially the autopsy details are very graphic and at times difficult to read.

The story starts with the dsappearance of Leann Truit. She agrees to go on a date at the house of a man she met at The Old Whiskey Mill, the bar where she works. She is never seen again.

A body is found and a woman from Marrowstone Island is missing - are they one and the same person?

Detective Megan Carpenter is rude, impatient, self-absorbed, sarcastic, thinks she is better than everyone else, condescending and "never sorry."

I liked the first book in the Megan Carpenter series, so I was looking forward to her next investigation. I am thrilled to report that I was NOT disappointed! Megan has a tortured (quite literally) past, and it rears its head during investigations. That’s especially true this time. She is one of my favorite female detectives (and there are a lot of them out there). I particularly enjoy her one-line asides. Her dark and sarcastic sense of humor is shaped by her past. I liked how Megan took a mentoring approach to work with Ronnie, encouraging her (even subconsciously) to be better and look closer at clues. I thought this was a good relationship that I hope continues. For a full review, please visit Fireflies and Free Kicks. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of the book.

This book was a quick paced thriller that didn’t let me down. It followed Detective Maggie carpenter as she is tracking a killer who is torturing and killing women. On top of that, she is battling her own dark past that has left her with her own demons. There wasn’t a dull moment and I could feel my pulse increase, as she was racing against the clock.

I’m pretty good at figuring out the who dun it in books but this one had me guessing. Even when I thought I was right, there was another twist. As this was the second book in this series, I’m going to go back and read book 1. I can’t wait for more Maggie (and hopefully, Ronnie!).

I am delighted to be back again with the lovely Detective Megan Carpenter for another instalment of author Gregg Olsen's series....
And she has acquired herself a newbie, fresh out of training, Deputy Ronnie Marsh...
I really enjoyed the banter between these two ladies once they got to know each other...
Even though you always sense that Megan wants to go it alone in terms of her investigations and solving the crime, she seems to take to Deputy Marsh and slowly begins to let her in...
The author is really teasing Megan's backstory to us slowly and her past is coming back to haunt her.
She's a tough cookie though, she's had to be growing up but someone is out to torment her. They know her secrets, they know her past and seem determined to make her pay....
When a young woman's body is discovered on a cliff edge, Megan soon discovers that a serial killer may be at work kidnapping, torturing and killing young redheaded women who are pregnant.....
Help is slow though in their quest to solve this case.....
Megan & Ronnie needs to work hard together to solve this one and pretty fast too before more bodies turn up...
A reviting read for sure, fast pace, unbelievable tension and a series you most definitely need to get to fast.....
Well worth your time..

In an exchange for an honest review I've got an ARC version of this book. Thank you NetGalley.

This is the first book from this author and in my humblest opinion I think that a person should definitely read the first book from this series in order to comprehend the whole situation with the main character and all her childhood trauma.

As we follow the story of Megan, a detective, that is looking for a serial killer I felt that I miss something. I couldn't connect on any level with the Megan even though she had all the attributes for a detective in modern thrillers - a personal trauma, a hint of her interaction with other members of the police force, a glimpse into her private world, etc. Or maybe all of the same things that follow the detectives in the last couple of years are just not original any more? :/ And it seems that all the authors search for something unique but can't seem to grasp it?

Even though Megan's childhood story is not that similar to the rest of the detectives I have been reading about, it seems as though ideas come from the same idea pool and I didn't find myself saying - oh no! in any given moment.

My main problem with Megan is that she didn't seem human at all. Or the writing made her look like that. I felt like she is some kind of android doing things that a programmer coded into her - e,g, a sentence from the book I am paraphrasing - 'I smiled. I don't smile that often.' No explanation as to how it affected her, how it seemed to her given the situation, etc.
And even though we could see into her soul whilst she is remembering conversations with her psychologist it didn't touch me one bit.

On the other hand the suspects were everyone and no one and that's how I like my thrillers. :) The story of the killings and the killer him/herself was rather good and it kept me intrigued and I definitely didn't guess what is going to happen in the end and how everything is going to fit together.
Small details were excellent, crumbs of deceit were rather well dispersed and all the characters had their place in the book at the right time for the story.

The writing felt, as I mentioned before, somewhat robotic - especially where it concerns Megan and I am hoping that it will change in the next installment of the series because this author has a great potential and I wouldn't mind reading the next book to see if something is changed and what Megan has to deal with in the next book.
