I made it two pages in before I refused to read on. Page one, glorious/gloriously used as an adjective twice. Page two, our main character reveals she has an amazing opportunity of a three month dream job, but she would gladly turn it down if her she was proposed to that day and could start her wedding planning instead. It took the convincing of a man for her to keep the job.
No ma'am, we don't make our women helpless and man-dependent just for a ring on her finger. Gross.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
I am a huge Jenny Hale fan. This made my 6th book that I’ve read by her. Most of her books brings a super happy easy feel good vibe to your reading time. However The House on Firefly Beach was my least favorite book of hers so far. I really loved the concept of a second chance romance. It just fell so flat for me when the majority of the book was written in the main characters insecurities. It became almost insufferable to continually hear how much she doubted herself and how there was just no way Nate had any good motives. I still look forward to other books from this author, but this one was not for me.
This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone.
The setting was absolutely stunning.
The writing is very good
A good book
I’ve read a lot of Jenny Hale and I enjoyed this book, it linked nicely from the first book in Firefly Beach, although it could be read as a stand alone book. It didn’t take me long to read it, and I wasn’t surprised by the ending. Had a couple of unexpected twists in it which kept you reading. I would definitely look out for Jenny’s next book, and thank you for accepting my request.
Reading a new book from Jenny Hale is like putting on your comfiest slippers and sitting down with a lovely warm drink a cold night. So soothing and familiar and always a delight!
This was a fun beach to read and I enjoyed revisiting the Firefly beach characters. The setting is beautiful and a long ago love made for a good summer read.
DNF - Did not finish. I did not connect with the writing style or plot and will not be finishing this title. Thank you, NetGalley and Publisher for the early copy!
I was hesitant to read this because the adjective "sappy" is so often used to describe it, but honestly, it's a good sappy! Maybe I've become a sap, maybe it's just that good, but either way, I loved this more than I thought I would. The House on Firefly Beach is sweet, a little angsty, and the perfect summer escapist read.
Jenny Hale. A masterful writer and storyteller!
This did not disappoint. It was such a lovely, sappy, sweet, romantic and magical story that gave me all the feels!
A huge thank you to NetGalley, Jenny Hale and Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.
I really fell for the location almost instantly, Jenny Hale writes such fabulous small town USA romances that I couldn't help but be enchanted by Firefly Beach and Starlight Cottage.
However the will they - won't they get back together between Sydney and Nate seemed to take forever to be resolved, and although I could tell they had chemistry when they were younger, I wasn't fully invested in whether they had a HEA or not.
But I was incredibly curious and what kept me reading was discovering the real reason Nate, not only broke Sydney's heart all those years ago, but also why he is back in his hometown now.
I was interested in Juliana's story as there is far more to her than you may imagine, and I also enjoyed getting to know the rest of Sydney's family and discovering whether or not they would have to sell Starlight Cottage.
A really enjoyable book from an author that I love reading.
Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Another lovely book in this series I love Jenny Hale's writing and this book hooked you from the start. The setting was great and I loved the characters of Sydney and Nate and the supporting cast making it a lovely warmhearted book with a good storyline, perfect summer beach read
Fairly nice and romantic summer beach read that hits a bit on the sappy side. Love, sandy beach, sun, fun and even a wedding.
A great story with warmth, love and protecting the town you love. Good characters, fabulous setting and an easy writing style made this book fly by!
A sweet and slightly sappy love story but I enjoyed every minute of it. A perfect summer read . This book was graciously provided by the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I so enjoyed this book - it was definitely a feel good read. Hard to put down! More of this author please
This is such a fantastic love story. I really enjoyed how at the heart of every relationship issue it comes down to communication. Young love and first love stay with you on your life journey.
Nate and Sydney are both young, in love and looking forward to a beautiful future together. Then without any conversation or reason why Nate leaves Sydney. Sydney is lost without him. Several years later Sydney has returned to Firefly Beach after a failed marriage and with her son Robby. Nate has become a very successful song writer and he has now returned home as well.
Will Sydney give Nate a chance? Will Sydney be able to get past the hurt and pain Nate caused her?
Thank you Netgalley for complimentary copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
The House on Firefly Beach by Jenny Hale was a lovely feel good, easy to read book. A great book reminding me of summer and time spent on the beach. A great escapism in this current pandemic. Another great book by Jenny.
I loved visiting firefly beach again in this sequel. Though some parts were drawn out like the first one and a bit overly descriptive I still enjoyed this read
A cute little beach read. I'd love to finish reading the rest of the series. I do appreciate the author tackled some tough subjects, but overall I loved the beach feel throughout the entire book. I grew up near the Gulf, so this book was a little treat to read.
Love Jenny Hale’s Firefly Beach books! They’re fun and easy to read with great characters and an interesting plot. Keeps you interested throughout and wondering how everything will turn out.
