Another gem! I so love Lisa Jewell’s books that I actively search out her name to see what she has in the works. I am also so glad when I notice on Goodreads that friends mark a book ‘to read’ after I have posted a new one is coming out. This book did not disappoint and the subject matter is so timely. The tragedy in Toronto not many years ago was very much in my mind when reading about this group of men

This book was very well written but overall, I was disappointed. I think I wanted something more suspenseful. I wanted to be nervous or anxious but while it may have been an interesting plot, there was no climax.

I love Lisa Jewell's books and naturally I was excited to read Invisible Girl. It did not disaapoint. A riveting fast paced thriller with a chast of characters that kept my attention.

The pace was perfectly paced . The story is told through multiple points of view. The story was well written and thought provoking.

I kept asking myself how well do you really know someone and what secrets lies behind the facade they may carry with them every day.

I loved this book and highly recommend it.

When traveling always make sure you have a good book you never know what rest stop you will be visiting. Besides, Lisa Jewell will definitely keep you awake! This is one great Psychological Thriller!!! You will not want to miss reading this book. I was upset that I had to keep driving and break up the reading into small nips of excitement and intenseness.

I know I will be reading this again after I buy the hardcover!

Thank you, NetGalley, Lisa Jewell, and Atria Books for giving me the opportunity to read one of my favorite authors early in lieu of my honest review.

This thriller was not an enjoyable book for me. Lots of dysfunctional people with many sexual issues. Many men mistreating girls and women. Sorry, just not a book for me. Happier ending so I will round up to 3 stars. #InvisibleGirl # NetGalley

A fantastic psychological thriller told from multiple points of view. Lisa Jewel has impeccably crafted a narrative full of dark twists and turns that delves into false perception. The outstanding cast of characters draws readers in and leaves them stranded in the best way possible. Absolutely loved it!

Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC of #InvisibleGirl which was read and reviewed voluntarily

I had mixed feelings about this story. First, lots of people here who fit the dysfunctional description, maybe too many.
Someone is attacking women and teen girls. Several people think they know who it is. Aldo, Saffyre has ended her counseling with Roan without ever getting to the initial cause. While sort of stalking him, she becomes a central figure in this mess. Is he having an affair? His wife thinks not now, but yes in the past.
What about neighbor Owen? If it's true that he's never had sex, why does he figure so strongly in people's minds?
A lot of dragging and skimming on my part, from about 40%-85% of the stody, then it finished up just fine, in spite of dragging so much.
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

I loved this book just as much as I usually love books by Lisa Jewell. Jewell has once again done an amazing job of making her characters come to life with a depth seldom found with thrillers. Alternating points of view and questions around every corner make this a novel worth picking up and difficult to put down.

Thank you to Atria books for sending me a free copy of Invisible Girl in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book really got it's claws in me, it’s full of dynamic characters that all feel like someone you already know, both the good and the bad! Lisa Jewell is a master at character driven suspense thrillers and I loved Invisible Girl!

Each character really got under my skin, I was rooting for almost all of them. On the daily, I am constantly thinking about people: the choices they make, their actions, and how they effect others. This books just fueled that brain fire in my head. It’s such a great look at culture, social niceties and expectations, and what happens when someone decides that they will not just sweep the past under the rug or play by the rules.

This novel, while suspenseful for sure, is such a fantastic character study. I loved it, and I think fans of Jewell will love it too.

Classic Lisa Jewell. Or maybe Classic New Lisa Jewell. This author's work has undergone such a metamorphosis over the years, and I'm loving this new, most recent phase of complex domestic suspense. In this, her newest one, Lisa Jewell follows a family and other disparate individuals whose lives intersect with theirs, each of them in varying states of loneliness and alienation.

Cate is trying to hold her marriage to Roan together even though something deep inside her wonders whether it is irreparably broken. Roan is elusive, unknowable and perhaps something much worse than either of those things. And then there are Cate and Roan's kids: Josh, their moody fourteen-year-old who says little but sees everything, and Georgia, their high-strung sixteen-year-old who says everything, but notices very little unless it affects her directly. And just a few degrees separated from the family are Owen Pick, the strange neighbor who leaves women unsettled, and Saffyre Maddox, Roan's former patient who for some reason is unable to leave Roan and his family alone, even after her treatment is done.

All these characters' lives, as different as they seem, are about to become intertwined under very difficult circumstances and in true Lisa Jewell fashion, once they emerge on the other side, they will never be the same. After being blown away by Then She was Gone, I knew this author could get very, very dark so I read Invisible Girl with a mild sense of dread. Everyone was a suspect, everyone--no matter how much I as the reader thought I might have come to understand them--was capable of anything. This, I think, is Lisa Jewell's talent. She walks you through the process of getting to know her characters and then makes you question everything you believe about them. She delivered on that talent in this novel, as she always does. Not my favorite by her, and certainly not as haunting as her last offering, but a good, solid read as always.

Recommended for readers of domestic suspense and mystery.

Oh man this was so good and I didn’t want it to end. It kept you guessing all the way through and I really enjoyed reading it. I have never read anything by this author but the synopsis and the cover for the book intrigued me and I’m glad I did. It was really well done and the alternating Povs really showed you every layer and gave you all the angles so you slowly unraveled the whole deal. It was really well done and it had so many twists and turns that just keep the story flowing so well and it was a really fast and good read. Oh man that last chapter though, just so good.

Thanks to Atria and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

Invisible Girl nailed that uneasy, what's gonna happen next feeling. There were a handful of characters (mostly neighbors and a couple extra), and we got to see the story from each perspective. You have the suburban mom, who has a tense relationship with her husband. Her teen son and teen daughter, who thinks the neighbor guy is creepy. The husband who works late and is a child psychologist. An old patient of his. Oh and the "creepy" neighbor who is having trouble at work. They all see pieces of a bigger puzzle and from a different angle, making the story unfold in a way that makes it hard to put down. I kept wanting to see what happened next!

The flow of this was great. It's the second book I've read by this author and I loved them both. I like the way it all ended, and the character development made me invested in each of them and how they would turn out.

Lisa Jewell does it again. Although this one will be a little harder for people to stomach, she is the queen of jaw dropping, hard hitting last lines. Like everything in the book leads up to the final sentence of her story. It was a good mystery that kept me guessing the whole time.

4.5 stars

A well-crafted thriller that explores secrets, preconceptions and past trauma can impact the lives of the three main characters.

Like the author's other work, there are multiple storylines presented, and with time, those storylines begin to weave together. And it all connects to one girl.
***Saffyre Maddox - the invisible girl. She's a broken girl, haunted by her past, who just wants someone to fix her. She thought that man would be Roan Fours, her therapist, but when he deems her "cured", she feels abandoned, and begins to stalk him, in a way.
***Cate Fours - wife to Roan. She's quick to make judgements about her neighbor, a man she's never met, as the women in her neighborhood begin to feel threatened.
***Owen Pick - the creepy neighbor. I'll admit, Owen has some issues, and those issues only are made worse with alcohol. However, when he became the main suspect for Saffyre's disappearance, I sympathized with how everything was handled.

It wasn't clear if Saffyre was actually alive, but some clues pointed to her life being in danger. Those clues being near Owen's home, along with his odd behavior, made him the easy target. However, we the reader have a larger picture that made me doubt their theories. While I couldn't figure out what really happened to Saffyre, as the author puts each piece into place, it all began to make sense. And my sympathies for Owen only grew.

What I liked most from the story was how things came together and how each of the main characters changed from the experience. They were able to overcome some of the pain from their past and become better people, for the most part.

This was an engaging story with great character development, a story I thoroughly enjoyed. Whether you are a fan of this author and/or the thriller genre, this one is worth checking out.

Another dark & twisty book from Lisa Jewell!! I always look forward to when she releases something new.

The alternating POV’s helped make this a quick read. Things came together into a kinda predictable conclusion. Enjoyed it even if I could tell what was coming.

Thank you to the Publisher for inviting me to read an e-ARC, through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Lisa Jewell is one of those others that I have to read. She never disappoints. Invisible Girl was creepy, pulse-pounding and a book you'll want to read with the lights on.

When a teenage girl goes missing, the police and media immediately focus on her socially awkward neighbor, Owen, who lives across the street from her former psychiatrist and has a history of inappropriate behavior with young women. Saffyre seemingly can't let go of Dr. Four, so she stalks him, discovering that he has secrets just like she does. She never told him the real story about what happened to her when she was younger and knows she'll never be able to move on until she faces her past. At the same time, the Four family is slowly unraveling and Saffyre knows why. Three separate stories, Owen's, Saffyre's and the Four family, are woven together and come together in a satisfying twist that only Lisa Jewell can create.

This is clunky.

It’s a bit of a suspense thriller without very many thrills, red herrings that don’t ever make you suspect the wrong person, and a bit of…incel-lite?

There was only one character I liked, and it was the one the author tries really hard to make you not like.

The solution to everything comes out of left field in a very messy way.

There’s a really odd section where one character muses about how ‘nice’ his penis is.

And there’s a toothless ‘gotcha’ in the end.

I did finish it, but the author has done much, much better in the past.

Skip.

Lisa Jewell does it again with Invisible Girl. She totally had me guessing through to the very end. The short chapters had me flipping the pages and unable to put This one down. Lisa created within these pages a dark, creepy and oh so sad story. Dealing with sexual assault, infidelity and the lies we tell. This novel is told from multiple POVs but I found it super easy to follow along too even through the twists.

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Publishing for an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion. I highly recommend this one.

Set to publish October 13, 2020.
