I have loved every Lisa Jewell book I read but I have tried this Epub ARC and the audio once it was released and I haven't been able to connect to this one. For whatever reason, it has remained a DNF for me but I do keep hoping to come back to it at some point and still look forward to what comes next from Jewell.

“Young Saffyre Maddox spent three years under the care of renowned child psychologist Roan Fours. When Dr. Fours decides their sessions should end, Saffyre feels abandoned. She begins looking for ways to connect with him, from waiting outside his office to walking through his neighborhood late at night. She soon learns more than she ever wanted to about Roan and his deceptively perfect family life. On a chilly Valentine’s night, Saffyre will disappear, taking any secrets she has learned with her.

Owen Pick’s life is falling apart. In his thirties and living in his aunt’s spare bedroom, he has just been suspended from his job as a teacher after accusations of sexual misconduct—accusations he strongly denies. Searching for professional advice online, he is inadvertently sucked into the dark world of incel forums, where he meets a charismatic and mysterious figure.

Owen lives across the street from the Fours family. The Fours have a bad feeling about their neighbor; Owen is a bit creepy and suspect and their teenaged daughter swears he followed her home from the train station one night. Could Owen be responsible? What happened to the beautiful missing Saffyre, and does her disappearance truly connect them all?”

I first became aware of Lisa Jewell a few years ago with Book of the Month and after discovering her, I started to really enjoy her books. If I see she has a new book out, then I want to read it automatically. This book I was on hold at the library for it forever and I finally got to read it! Yay! I really loved the suspense. I really enjoy books with multiple point of views. The ending was very satisfying as well.

I have loved ever Jewell book I’ve read and though this isn’t my favorite it did not disappoint . It contains the same elements I live reading in Lisa Jewel’s work. I loved the mystery, the pacing and sub plots. Another great addition to this authors books. I definitely recommend it.

The Fours family and Owen Pick seemingly have nothing in common until local girl, Saffyre Maddox goes missing and their lives collide. Lisa Jewell is one of those authors that I either love their work or it falls a bit flat for me. This was unfortunately in the camp of the latter. While the story was interesting it felt like a lot of extra fluff was included that I didn’t need. I missed the creep factor that a lot of other reviewers mentioned feeling and I think if I had had that type of connection I would have enjoyed this one more.

I love Lisa Jewell, and this may be my favorite title of hers yet! I loved the characters, I cared about what happened to them, and I felt satisfied at the end. There were some great twists and turns and some surprises, too! I will definitely recommend this book to others.

I really enjoyed this book! The author’s use of multiple perspectives added to the novel. It was nice how the story kept you guessing. While it wasn’t as fast paced as other books, enough was going on to keep the reader interested. You might like this book if you enjoy a psychological drama with a bit of some inter-family drama woven in.

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is a mystery told from three persepectives: Saffyre, a teenage girl trying to heal from a childhood trauma; Cate, the wife of Saffyre's therapist; and Owen, the very strange, anti-social single man who lives across the street with his aunt. When Saffyre goes missing, there is a lot of speculation of who could be responsible. There have been street attacks on young women in the neighborhood and Cate's daughter is quick to cast suspicion on Owen. He certainly does look guilty, but only time will tell.

I enjoy books written from multiple perspectives, especially with such different characters, because it gives the reader the opportunity to view the contrasting sides of the story. It goes back to the idea that no one is a 'bad guy' in their own mind. The individual motivations make all the difference. Jewell handles this well with distinctive voice and well-fleshed characters.

I liked this book, but not a lot. The characters weren't particularly likable and it felt slow to me. I wasn't overly motivated to pick it up. I had high hopes for it at the beginning, but somehow it fell flat. Other members of the book club enjoyed it more than I did, so maybe I just wasn't in the right headspace for this one.

I hate to say it - but this wasn’t my favorite Lisa Jewell book. I ADORED ‘Then She Was Gone’ and I found ‘The Family Upstairs’ to be okay. This falls somewhere on the in between. The book was good - but I wouldn’t say there was a jaw dropping twist that I was hoping for. To Jewell’s credit, I enjoyed that she delved into the incel community. It wasn’t something I had heard about before and I found it to be one of the more interesting/unique aspects to this book. I would still say this is still worth the read - but not as “unputadownable” as some of her other work. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is a domestic thriller novel. The story in this one is told by changing the point of view between characters and is also one that is told in differing timelines with a before, after and now.

Saffyre Maddox is seventeen and has struggled for years with what happened to her when she was only ten years old. At twelve Saffyre began seeing therapist, Roan Fours, who she continued to see for the next few years until Roan thought Saffyre had made progress and didn’t need him anymore. However, Saffyre had never admitted her trauma and lived with her pain feeling as if she were invisible.

Owen Pick is someone who also feels invisible in life. At thirty three Owen lives in his aunt’s spare bedroom and has been suspended from his job. Owen lives near the Fours family who don’t trust the single man near them. When Saffyre goes missing all eyes become focused on Owen as the culprit but could he have been responsible?

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is a thriller that started off at a slower pace and gradually increased the pacing and intensity as it pulled me in. This one again may sound confusing with the point of view changes and the different timelines but it read smoothly and was easy to become engrossed in the story. Of course having read this author before I expected wonderful writing and a few twists and turns and that was exactly what I found as I devoured the tale despite the slow start.

I love thrillers that are...unconventional like Invisible Girl. It has that edge-of-your-seat feeling, but the story isn't one you've read before. Lisa Jewell is a genius and I loved this book!

Unfortunately this book was not the best one for me, but it still kept me interested enough to finish it.
Without giving much spoiler, I did not like any of the characters, most of them seemed too creepy and very unlikable for my taste. The story was quite interesting but not memorable, perhaps I was expecting more from the author.

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is a psychological thriller about a 17 year old girl (with some problems) who goes missing.  It kept me guessing until the end to see what had happen to her. It starts a little slow but this gave Jewell time to really develop the characters and that is always a big plus.  Definitely kept my attention.  This is only the second Lisa Jewell book I have read and I will most certainly be on the look out for more of her books.  If you are looking for a good mystery with twists and turns, you will want check this one out.

I love Lisa Jewell but this one was just ok. I couldn't really get into the story. It just wasn't for me.

This is a well-crafted character-driven psychological thriller from Lisa Jewell dealing with several #MeToo issues.

Owen Pick, 33, is a computer science lecturer at Ealing Tertiary College in London. He is also single and a virgin, a 'poor-me' kind of guy, who lives in a small bedroom in his Aunt Tessa's Hampstead flat. After allegations of sexual misconduct from several students, he is suspended from his job and starts delving into incel (involuntary celibate) websites.

Across the street lives the Fours family: Roan, Cate, and their two teenage children, Georgia and Joshua. Roan is a child psychologist--sociopathy in children is his speciality. Cate is a physiotherapist who works from home. They are currently renting the 3-bedroom flat in a grand house while their home in Kilburn is undergoing repairs. Cate becomes suspicious of Owen after Georgia reports him following her home.

Saffyre Maddox, 17, suffered sexual abuse at age 10 and began self-harming. She had been one of Roan's patients for several years until he abruptly decided her therapy was no longer necessary. She's not ready to leave therapy and begins stalking and observing Roan after hours, following him home or as he goes out for drinks with coworkers. In the process, she discovers another side of Roan...

The lives of these people become intertwined as attacks of a sexual nature are reported in the neighborhood and Saffyre disappears. There is an obvious suspect but how well can one really know another person--a neighbor, a husband, a son? The story is told from three different points of view (Cate, Saffyre and Owen) so the reader sees their personal take on the situation, filtered through their thoughts and reactions, which can be questionable at times. People can be so gullible.

This was very quick read for me, often making me nervous and fretful! The story comes to a satisfying conclusion but one wonders if people can really change that quickly.

I received an arc of this thriller from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review back in 2020. I apologize for not getting the book read and reviewed in a timely manner--my year of reading under Covid was a disaster quite frankly but it's going much better in 2021 so I promise to read and review Lisa Jewell's latest thriller The Night She Disappeared very soon. Thank you for sticking with me.

Great book! I devoured this in one sitting. This was one of the first Lisa Jewell books I read and absolutely fell in love with her writing! Great suspenseful mystery/thriller!

The Fours family has had to temporarily relocate while their house is being repaired. To make the most of a bad situation, Cate & Roan decide to go all in and rent a home in an upscale part of town. The gated walls don't prove to be the safe, dream neighborhood however when a friend of Cate's teenage daughter is attacked on her way home adding to a string of daylight assaults happening nearby. Cate is convinced that the strange man across the street is somehow involved, especially after he follows her daughter home from the tube station late one night. Then a girl goes missing with ties to their family, a former patient of Roan's who has been seen recently near their home and the last person to see her alive is the man Cate suspects to be behind it all. "Invisible Girl" will not be for everyone. There are a lot of difficult themes in this book: self-harm, rape, adultery, emotional abuse, physical abuse...it goes on. Though Lisa Jewell has another expertly crafted mystery on her hands I had a hard time getting past the overall tone of the book. If you are fine with a darker story then give this one a try. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Another good thriller from Lisa Jewell. I always have to prepare myself to read one of her books and this one was no exception. Thankfully, I had an idea of the story and quickly became totally immersed. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

I would love to be a Lisa Jewell Fan, but her books are either a hit or miss for me. And this one was a miss. Although the plot was interesting, and the characters were developed, it went very slow. I thought that throughout most of the book was boring. I could see some interesting points, and overall a 2.5 star book, but I felt it lacked excitement for me.

This was another solid book by Lisa Jewell. I enjoyed the plot & the journey that the book took us on to the end. The twists & turns were done really well! I really enjoyed some of the characters & the individual journeys that they took, leaving us at the end feeling like everything was resolved. I definitely think it was a solid read for anyone that loves thrillers!

I've become a big fan of Lisa Jewell over the years and this one didn't disappoint! Jewell has a way of creating complex, compelling characters while also keeping you turning the pages with a propulsive plot. I had to find out what happened as fast as I could, which meant I devoured this one in just a couple of sittings. If you've read and loved her other books, you'll enjoy this one too.
