In this book you will be met with many unreliable narratives that will have you second guessing everything you already know. Delving into the lives of people will leave you wanting to know more. Whose secret is more damaging than the others?

Lisa Jewell has been on a bit of a roll lately with her compulsively readable thrillers, and her latest release, Invisible Girl, will undoubtedly appeal to her growing fan base. The action in this novel swirls around one pivotal Valentine’s evening in which a young woman disappears. Told from three different viewpoints, the reader is given perspectives from those connected to the events. Cate, matriarch of a family who is temporarily housed in the neighborhood, emerges as a central figure. It is through her thoughts that details are processed and theories begin to coalesce. She is unsure why her husband and son seem so closely tied to what is occurring in the neighborhood—and she even though she dreads what she might discover, she is compelled to investigate. A second voice is that of a young professor recently suspended for misconduct, and now accused of being responsible for the missing girl and other sexual assaults in the area. Bitter and resentful about his treatment by women and with a hazy recollection of his actions, he is a likely suspect. Owen’s awkwardness and alienation serve to bolster the case against him, and his imprudent actions only draw him deeper into suspicion. Saffyre is a first-person narrator, the missing teen whose recollections round out the story by providing background information and important clues about the converging connections between the characters in the novel. The author does a good job with pacing and the painstaking release of details, maintaining a consistent and steady build in tension. She does a particularly good job with the character of Owen, a man that manages to be both pitiful and pitiable. Jewell’s book addresses themes of accusation and assumption, of deceptive appearances and evil hiding in plain sight. Her female characters carry scars both literal and figurative from toxic interactions with men, whether intentional or not. Invisible Girl is a quick and engrossing read, a nice example of an author still hitting her stride.

I always love Lisa Jewells books and this was no different. Invisible Girl definitely has plenty of twists and turns and is disturbing. This one had me flying through it.

Will Owen be able to set his life straight after losing his job and having seemingly everything start to go wrong for him? When he is then accused of killing a young girl who is missing he truly doesn't know what to do. This one will have you rooting for Owen but unable to figure out what is going to happen next.

I would recommend this as a great thriller to have in your beach bag this summer!

Lisa Jewell does it again! I absolutely love her books and this one did not disappoint. It kept me guessing from start to finish. I couldn't put it down until I knew all the answers. I had it all worked out in my head and Lisa Jewell took more on a whirlwind of surprises in this story. Let's just say, you never judge a book by its cover.

The story is told from several perspectives as the characters’ stories unfold and intersect. I am a fan of Ms. Jewell and this book did not disappoint. This is a book that you will stay up late to read! Recommended.

Lisa Jewell is at it again with a new dark twisted thriller.

When Saffyre Maddox was ten something terrible happened and she's carried the pain of it around with her ever since. The man who she thought was going to heal her didn't, and now she hides from him, invisible in the shadows, learning his secrets; secrets she could use to blow his safe, cozy world apart.

There are many characters introduced, and that might leave the reader feeling lost, especially with so many being unlikable. Although I read this book very quickly and it kept my attention, I found the story line left me feeling depressed and hopeless.
This is a book that will stay with you long after finishing it...

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

As always, Jewell parses the information gently and at a pace that's sure to keep you interested. Yet. This didn't have any emotional resonance for me. I suspect that I won't think of any if these characters again.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC for my Kindle.
A dark thriller with profanity and some sexual content which made the book just o.k. for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy. All opinions are my own!

I went back and forth on what to rate this book, and ultimately decided to go with 3.5 stars. Overall, I enjoyed this book but it wasn't an instant favorite, which is normally how I feel about Jewell's writing. I loved that this book tackled timely and difficult topics. I'd never read a thriller like this before, so I definitely appreciated it's originality. My main complaint was that it all kind of seemed too good to be true- too many stories intersecting that could never happen in real life. I can't fully explain why I felt like that due to spoilers, but hopefully that'll make more sense once more people get their hands on this book! I enjoyed this read but it was not my favorite of Jewell's

I love a good Lisa Jewell book but I have to admit this may be my least favorite of hers so far. The writing, as always, is fantastic but this one seemed a bit scattered compared to her others. There was a lot going on between the three POV's and the timelines of Before and Now that made it hard at times to follow. In true Jewell fashion though it all seemed to come together at the end. The last part of the book was the best for me

I really struggled with this book- it started off good but they’re were just way too many tangents with each character and it was hard to keep track of them all. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

Invisible Girl is another great book by Lisa Jewell. I thought I knew what was going on then Lisa would throw in a curve ball and make me change my mind. Lots of great twists. Lisa has become one author I look for her books because they are so good.

OMGoodness!!! I can't believe what wonderful books Lisa Jewell writes! Invisible Girl grabbed me right at the start and surprised me all the way through. It is easy to 'see' her characters, her descriptions are wonderfully complete. I was a little confused on the timeline at times...but that was okay. Each chapter was from a different character's perspective and time. This is the second or third book that I have read from Lisa Jewell....and I'm probably going to go back and find others she has written and read them also. Very pleasant reading.

Slow build but hard hitting ending!
There’s a lot going on in this story with a lot of characters to keep up with. A young girl named Saffyre goes missing and throughout the book we follow some questionable characters that could be/couldn’t be involved in her disappearance. I had some predictions as to what happened to Saffyre but they were false! That twisty ending was pretty epic and memorable. None of the characters stuck with me but the story itself was good.
*This book deals with sexual abuse and assault.

This book managed to blend many characters and plot lines together in a way that you feel as if you’re reading separate books, but it works! It’s amazing to see how the mystery pans out and the thrilling and shocking end. And even then is that the end?

This was very engaging. Many twists and unexpected ending.I enjoyed the characters from different worlds interact. The invisible girl was a deep character with problems. Family impotance is prtrayed well.

4.5 stars

I have read most of Lisa Jewell's books, and this one is my new favorite. I was impressed at how there was some substance and depth to the story instead of it just being a typical thriller. I finished this book a few days ago and my mind keeps going back to it. I keep thinking about some of the characters and I just have this urge to dissect everything I just read. For that reason, I think this book would be a great book club pick.

Cate is a physiotherapist and is married with two kids. Her husband, Roan, is a child psychologist. Saffyre Maddox was Roan's patient for a few years. Owen Pick is in his thirties, lives with his aunt, and is a teacher. The story will bounce back and forth between some of the characters. I'm a big fan of the author so I didn't find it necessary to read the publisher's synopsis before diving right into the story. I highly enjoyed my reading experience and I do recommend if you have loved the author's other books, to just go into the story blind like I did. I think it is more fun to be completely in the dark at the beginning and letting the story unfold naturally rather than having a heads up.

This was a quick read for me and I ended up finishing it in a day. I have mentioned in the past that while I enjoy the author's books, usually I can see which direction she is going in way before I get to the ending. She mixed things up a bit in this book and I was caught off guard a few times which was fun.

If you haven't read a book by this author before, this is a good place to start. If you have enjoyed her other books, I think this one will be a good read for you as well.
