The story is is centred around the myrid of ways that sexual misconduct and assault occurs in our modern world, and is therefore not for everyone. It touches on fearsome and familiar nightcrawlers, school teachers who make sexist and inappropriate gestures towards his female students, the heartbreaking legacy of childhood abuse, and the growing and unsettling subculture of incel's--men who are not getting the sexual attention they feel the world owes them. Although the subject matter is going to be undoubtedly sensitive to an unfortunate number of people, Jewell handles it tactfully and honestly.

This is a classic Lisa Jewell thriller, with a page-turning mystery and a satisfying twist. I had a really hard time putting this one down, and ended up finishing it in one sitting. Lisa Jewell writes about the unsettling realization that there are real villains out there, sometimes closer than we think.

I had really high hopes for this book since I love Jewell's The Family Upstairs, but this was a no go for me. The introduction of the various characters were clunky. I just did not feel invested in the characters and incel?!! No thanks, didn't care about that either. Also, don't go and google it. Your eyes cannot unsee that info. Overall, the book felt unfinished and could use another re-edit to flush out the important parts a bit more. It just felt that topics of incel and molestation (yep, trigger warning) were used to shock rather than give us a good meaty story. Also, I can probably do without the random fox. If the fox was a symbolic metaphor, I completely missed it.

This book was not a favorite of mine at all. The story was boring, there wasn’t any suspense and there wasn’t really any likeable characters. No wow factor what so ever. This is a definite do not recommend. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.

Just when I think the world goes into turmoil, Lisa Jewell surprises us all with a new book coming out this Fall. I fell in love with her writing last year when The Family Upstairs was released and I've been trying to read her other books while being quarantined in my apartment. When Atria Books gave me the chance to read her newest book, Invisible Girl , I was shell-shocked. ThankYouThankYouThankYouThankYouThankYouThankYouThankYouThankYou! Now that my enthusiasm is at level 100, I wanted to express my full review for this upcoming release.

Warning: Triggers including in this book include rape, molestation, and pedophilia.

The story revolves around the Fours family—Cate, her husband Roan, her son Josh, and her daughter Georgia. Working parents, Cate is a physiotherapist and Roan is a psychologist. One day, Georgia complains about their weird neighbor following her home. Their neighbor, Owen, apparently is a suspended geography teacher who has been accused of sexual harassing two of his students. Cate and Roan have a bad feeling about Owen, but attempt to keep the peace for now. Owen's an oddball for sure—bad luck with dating, socially awkward and uncomfortable to be around, and he's never been intimate with a woman. Owen isn't bad looking, but something's just not right about him. When one of Roan's former clients, a teenage girl named Saffyre Maddox disappears out of the blue, Cate and Roan can't help but imagine that Owen is somehow responsible. While the story focuses on the people mentioned at quick synopsis brief above, all characters are flawed in their own way, allowing for the reader to figure out the clues on this straightforward mystery.

I'll be honest, I loved The Family Upstairs and came in with high expectations for Invisible Girl . I'm telling you now as a reader and a fan of the author, go in expecting something completely different. This story is more direct and focused, rather than twisty and crazy (besides the ending, AHH!). I started the book last night before bed and finished it today while stalling on errands and life responsibilities for today. It just grabbed my attention from the get-go. I thought I knew how the story would unravel, but Lisa Jewell continues to keep me guessing!

This book won't be for everyone and that's ok. There's lots of triggers, it's not going to be deemed "the next Gone Girl" (thank God, tbh), but its intoxicating and immersive. Go in with no expectations, besides the fact that Lisa Jewell is an amazing mystery writer, and enjoy the ride.

I love reading books from the point of view of adolescents/young adults, especially characters that have emotional and psychological depth. The book was a bit slow for me in the beginning but it picked up soon enough and pulled me to the satisfying ending.

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell is simply a great book. I was riveted from beginning to end. I love that none of the characters are especially likable, but they all possess such human qualities that they are relatable. This is a twisty kind of read, deeply psychological and the ending subtly surprises. Loved this book.

This was a very intriguing, well written book! It had lots of different viewpoints and was put together in a way that allows you to draw many conclusions while reading, although, many may be wrong! I thought it was well researched, realistic, original, and fun! The end had a nice little twist, which I think let’s your imagination go further into it and think what might be next! Overall, if you are Jewell fan, you will definitely enjoy! If you’re not a fan, read this, it’ll make you one! Fun, chilling, thrill ride!
Will make sure to buzz up on the different platforms! And use my low amazon reviewer number at release date!

Just wow!! Invisible Girl has moved into my top favorite books! I didn't want the book to end, I wanted to keep reading. I love Lisa Jewell, her books never disappoint! Invisible Girl is a suspenseful read and I couldn't put it down.

The twists were great and the plot was different and interesting. Invisible Girl delves into a few different lives that all connect in some way. The points of view were so different, but beautifully put together. I was literally on the edge of my seat, reading as fast as I could to get to the next page. I cannot recommend this one enough!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC.

I loved the intensity of this book. It switched back and forth between Cate, Owen, and Saffyre. They are all inexplicably tied into what has been happening lately in their neighborhood. There has been a series of sexual assaults that have been occurring lately that have brought each of their issues to the forefront. Each deals with the issues in different ways and is affected by them differently, however they all come out changed from the events. When Saffyre disappears, everything hits a head and comes to the forefront. I will definitely be recommending this book to others. This story is well written and definitely keeps you guessing. Thanks for the ARC, Net Galley.

I am a fan of Lisa Jewell's books but this one and the two before it just didn't do it for me. It's probably more that I have read so many thrillers at this point that they seem almost predictable.

I did not care about or particularly like any of the characters in this book.

This book is written from 3 different POVs. Something bad happened to Saffyre when she was 10. Roan is her therapist, has his own issues. When Saffyre disappears everyone suspects the weird neighbor. I did keep reading to see what happened but I think maybe I am just over thrillers.

Invisible Girl by Lisa Jewell
Wow! Wow! Wow! What an excellent read! Lisa Jewell has done it again! Story is told from alternating views and is told in such a way that it grabs you and you don't want to put this down for any reason! Twists and turns, characters you care about, story that sucks you in...one of the best books I have read in a while! Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this ARC and letting me leave my honest opinion! Will be looking forward to more exciting books from this author!

As our girl Aretha Franklin once said, "Who's zoomin' who?"

This is the fascinating story of a sad, misunderstood 17 year old girl, an angsty misunderstood 33 year old virgin on forced leave from work who has no idea why everything he says lands wrong, and a family with secrets and more issues than a newsstand.

All collide together spectacularly in the Lisa Jewell-iest of ways.

I loved it.

Thank you to Lisa Jewell, Atria Books and NetGalley for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am so thrilled to have been invited to the latest Lisa Jewell novel. Nothing better for a read on a quiet weekend. The twists and turns, and her sick sensibilities (and I mean that as a total compliment) make for exciting reads. I shall champion the latest, which I felt harkened back to classic Ruth Rendell. Bravo, and another wonderful thriller that makes domestic drama so exciting. Can't wait for the next one!

This book needs so many trigger warnings I’m not sure I can properly disclose them all but rape and child molestation are two prominent ones. I did not enjoy this one at all. Not even sure why I finished. It’s basically Watching You but a girl stalks her ex-therapist and she sleeps outside across the street from his house and plays with a fox. There’s also a creepy neighbor described as an incel (which is word I did not need to know about) And that’s it y’all. If you like dark, twisted shit this might be your jam but I was not a fan. Thank you @atriabooks for the ARC, all opinions are my own honest feelings.

What a treat, to have the latest from Lisa Jewell turn up in my email! Thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book tells the story of 3 sort of unrelated people. 17 year old Saffyre lives with her uncle and has been to therapy over things that happened a few years back. She was discharged before she felt ready. Cate is married to Roan, who used to be Saffyre's therapist and she is concerned about recent sexual assaults in their neighborhood. Owen is a 33 year old man that lives across the street from Cate. His overall awkwardness especially with women makes people believe he is a creep and may even be responsible for the assaults. Saffyre disappears and of course Owen is a suspect.

This was a book that kept me entertained mostly throughout. I wanted to know what happened to Saffyre and I wanted to know what these other people had to do with her and her disappearance. The formula of this book reminded me of The Family Upstairs, in that we had 3 characters with distinct stories and we didn't find out their relation until the end. I think that is an effective formula because it keeps me wondering and turning pages. The ending was good and I didn't see it coming, but it didn't totally blow me away, maybe because I loved The Family Upstairs so much that expectations were too high. Still, this was a solid read and I look forward to the next book from this author.

As expected, another gem from Lisa Jewell. She is a consistent first purchase for collections where thrillers are popular.

All hail the queen! Lisa Jewell is a master at her work, and it's safe to say she is a favorite for me; a must recommend. A family drama style thriller, Invisible Girl did NOT disappoint. What a refreshing new take on a thriller... and it kept me turning pages, and wanting more. I finished this book within 12 hours. An unputdownable journey that weaves three separate people into one, sealing the ending with a delicious twist of satisfaction.
I love multiple POVs when they're brought together effortlessly and Jewell is the best at this. Each character is well developed, leaving you satisfied and fulfilled, there were no gaps or plot holes which makes it even better. Sometimes with multiple POVs it can be a bit all over, but Jewell has the ability to keep it straight.
I was entertained from start to finish and did not want to put the book down. #Invisiblegirl left me guessing until the end, and even when I thought all was solved and over, she throws a wrench into the party and left me with a wicked smile on my face thinking, "I knew it!"
Lisa Jewell's newest novel coming in October isn't to be missed and I am sure it will be another book of the month pick, bestseller, and I want MORE.
Thank you so much to @atriabooks @netgalley and @lisajewell for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!
