Every Last Secret was an unexpected, twisty delight. A.R. Torre's writing keeps getting better with every new book and I look forward to every new addition to her collected works.

I really enjoyed Every Last Secret, thanks to @netgalley for proving me with an arc for an honest review. This was a face paced page turner that I read in two sittings. It gave me desperate housewife vibes. It took a little to guess what may happen but I still enjoyed and wanted to continue. I didnt have all the details worked out until more towards the end.

Winner winner, my first great thriller read of 2021. I had shifting loyalties throughout, and wasn't sure who I was routing for or who I wanted to come out on top. Loved the way it all unfolded, where it wasn't exactly clear who was playing who. Deliciously devious, catty, & maniacal. I liked the alternating voices and the format of a tease of the present day mixed with the events of the months prior. I found the ending immensely satisfying, but the final direction also surprised me in several ways. I am late to the game in reading this author. I bought another of her books ages ago, but never read. Now I'm eager to try it. To my fellow thriller readers, I definitely recommend this one.

This is a twist on the classic story of rags to riches people who become vindictive, heartless, deceptive in their fight to keep what they think will make them happy.
It's also a story that kept me guessing what would happen next. We have Cat and Neena both wanting seemingly perfect William. One is married to him (Cat) and one wants to be (Neena.)
Then we have poor Matt, Neena's likeable, normal husband, the only person it seems in their gated community who cares about people, not status or money.
And we have crimes. Clever snippets dropped into the plot along the way so that you wonder exactly who is telling the truth—if anyone.
I enjoyed this quick, entertaining story, especially the ending. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of the book.

A.R. Torre, a pseudonym for Alessandra Torre, is an established author. Alessandra Torre is best known for her works of contemporary romance, however, her author alter-ego (A.R. Torre), offers readers mystery and suspense. Every Last Secret falls into the mystery and suspense category, at least more suspense than mystery.

The well-to-do community of Atherton is filled with multi-million-dollar homes, families with the requisite 2 or more children who attend private and expensive educational institutions, staff to maintain the household while the family is gone to some exotic locale, and members who are involved in one of more community programs. Cat Winthorpe and William Winthorpe meet most of these criteria, in fact, they are some of the most influential members of the community thanks to William Winthorpe’s status as an inventor, investor, and entrepreneur.

As William Winthorpe’s empire grows, so does his need for cohesive teamwork. Enter Dr. Neena Ryder, a behavior therapist whose job is to maintain the happiness and productivity of Winthorpe employees. Neena is ecstatic to join the community of her dreams, to be a part of the legendary Winthorpe empire, especially while it is on the cusp of a brilliant medical breakthrough, and to finally get her chance to be among the elite. Neena has had to scrape and claw her way to where she is now, and she intends to stay there (skeletons and prior indiscretions be dammed).

Her goal is simple: seduce William Winthorpe and exploit him for all he is worth, or, better yet, become the next Mrs. Winthorpe. Presently, that role is held by one Cat Winthorpe. On the surface, Cat has everything Neena has ever wanted: the house, the husband, the position, the money, everything. What starts as a coy cat-and-mouse game orchestrated by Neena between herself and William Winthorpe quickly draws the unwanted attention of his wife, Cat. The closer Neena attempts to grow to the Winthorpes, the more Cat suspects Neena’s intentions are less than pure.

While Neena is chasing William Winthorpe, Cat is chasing Neena. Uncovering her past, her secrets, her indiscretions, and silently using them to thwart Neena’s coup attempts. But soon the sleight of hand and the subtleties of flirtation take a dark twist. Lives hang in the balance, and not just their ruin. How far is one woman willing to go to protect what is hers, and how far is another willing to go to take it?

A tale of temptation, toxic jealousy, and manipulation. All wound devilishly together surrounding the circumstances of a suspicious murder. The question is less about who committed the murder, but why. A. R. Torre’s Every Last Secret is on par with Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies, and perfect for fans of Shari Lapena, Tana French, and Lisa Gardner.

Cat and Neena are almost reflections of each other. Each of them grew up in a household that was less than desirable and left many necessities to be desired. The major difference between the two is how they chose to approach a solution to their situation, and, ultimately, how lucky they got along the way to what they wanted. Cat’s journey was less bumpy, and she sold less of who she was as a person in order to achieve what she wanted. Neena, on the other hand, was willing to undergo hours and painful plastic surgery to create a perfect image, manipulate her way around men to achieve her ends, and even prolong a relationship with a man she truly does love, but who did not satisfy her deepest desires.

What is most interesting about the two women is how each of their worst features is reflected back to them in the other woman. The parallels between the two women are excellent, and their constant “at odds” with each other is almost comical. Neena expects and even wants Cat to be the overprotective, overbearing, and jealous wife – but Cat does the opposite the majority of the time. Cat wishes Neena would be genuine and honest – but Neena refuses to show any weakness or humanize herself. If the two were just up-front and honest with each other from the start, Neena about wanting to be rich and well-off, and Cat about her insecurities surrounding her marriage, the two may have hit it off and helped each other.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Going into reading this I had little to no expectations, but A. R. Torres (Alessandra) blew me away. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a relatively unknown author who has a solid story to share.

I got this early copy from the publisher but I only finished reading this book now. So thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the book!

Cat and William Winthrop seemed to be having perfect married life when another couple, Matt and Neena Ryder moved into the house opposite of their house. And Neena is going to work for William's company. While Cat is suspicious about Neena's past, Neena has plans to seduce Cat's husband, William.

The book is filled with drama and became intense towards the end. Though initially, it was a bit boring at first, it started to reach it's climax by the middle of the book and towards the end. The writing was really good that the author did a good job keeping the reader into the story. The story is a bit realistic as well. The characters however are all detestable and unlikable--I am not sure if the author did it intentionally but none of the characters to me was likable. The ending was a bit sad. And it was actually a twisty suspense, something that I enjoyed reading.

Overall, I give this book as four stars! Quiet enjoyable and unputdownable that will keep you up all night!

This has to be hands down one of my favourite books written by Alessandra Torre thus far! This fast paced, psychological thriller had me fully engrossed in the plot and characters. Having previously read Torre's Love in Lingerie, I wasn't sure what to expect from Every Last Secret, but my gosh did it prove me wrong. From her writing style, dynamics, suspenseful games, to the extremely unlikable yet engrossing characters, Torre manages to make an atmospheric environment in the novel that transcends simply written words on a page. Told in alternative narratives of both women involved, Cat and Neena, readers are able to perceive the multilayered nature of each character as they viciously fight for the life they want, willingly destroying anyone that stands in the way of their happiness. While it did exceed slightly outside of the realm of realism, this page-turner was one that draws readers into the story and captivates them until they reach the very end of the novel. In the end, I can say that this was a highly enjoyable and suspenseful read that I recommend you check out and pick up today.

I really enjoyed this novel. I was happily surprised by the intriguing storyline and great character development. Great easy read!

I think this is another good one to go in blind. But in a nutshell, the two main characters are wealthy next door neighbors so expect the typical lifetime movie drama. I was spoiled with the main twist before going into it so I had a pretty good idea what was going on, but the book still had other questions that I couldn’t wait to be answered.

I really enjoyed the audio portion of this book, to be honest, some audiobooks leave me feeling lost, but this one was super easy to follow.

The two main characters are crazy and unlikable. It’s a typical domestic thriller/mystery, with a decent ending too. Give it a read or a listen especially if you have @kindleunlimited

Thanks to @amazonpublishing for my copy.

I would like to start off by saying thank you to @NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for my eARC of Every Last Secret by A.R. Torre in exchange for an honest review.

Cat Winthrope has a great life. A big house in a prestigious neighbourhood, high social standing, and a handsome husband. She’s worked hard for these things and isn’t going to let anyone take them away from her...especially not the overly friendly new neighbour, Nenna.

Nenna Ryder wants nothing more than to move up in the world, and when she moves into Cat’s neighborhood it’s a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough. Nenna wants Cat’s life. She wants her fancy house, she wants her spot at the country club, and she wants her husband.
.
Neither Cat or Nenna were very likeable characters, normally that kinda ruins a book for me but in this case it was fun to just sit back and watch these two characters have at either other. It was like Real Housewives meets CSI.
I liked that the each chapter went back and forth between the two characters POV, letting you have a glimpse into their minds. You weren’t reliant on just one character’s thoughts and perspective. Plus I made me devour the book even quicker because I was always wanting to get to the next chapter to find out what was going on with the other storyline.
I personally did not see the ending twist coming and that’s something that’s always a win in my books. Overall it was a fun, quick read that I would recommend to any thriller fan!

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cat Winthorpe is living the good life - a rich, gorgeous husband named William, a beautiful mansion with servants and a pillar in her community. She has built a perfect life and marriage for herself and William. When William hires Dr. Neena Ryder at his firm and Neena and her husband Matt purchase the abandoned home next door, that’s when the fun starts!

Suddenly, Neena has her heart set on getting William all to herself. She starts texting him nonstop and even becomes his jogging buddy. She may think she’s got all the goods to steal William away from Cat, but she clearly has no idea who she’s up against. Cat is a smart cookie and she will not let anything happen to the pristine life she’s built.

All the while, Neena’s husband Matt is totally clueless when it comes to his wife’s actions and intentions.

Watching these two women go at each other was extremely satisfying. For me, there is nothing that compares to a good revenge tale filled with secrets, lies and drama!

This was my first book by this author, so I’m looking forward to diving into more! Highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and A.R. Torre for my advanced copy to read and review.

To be honest, I didn't love this book. It reminded me a lot of The Last Mrs. Parrish, maybe a little too much. Also, I had a hard time really rooting for any character - which isn't always a bad thing, but felt like it this time. Still, I didn't want to quit reading and it was quick / "light" for me. Would make a good beach/vacation read if you like B.A. Paris, Liv Constantine, or Mary Kubica.

Every Last Secret is a fast paced well-constructed thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat and guessing what every last secret may be. What happens when someone quite literally wants your life, do you let them just take it?

Cat Winthorpe it seems is the woman everyone, including the new neighbour, would like to be. She has it all and her new neighbour has a touch of the green-eyed monster and wants what her neighbour has, including her husband! As the story unfolds jealously, infatuation and secrets play a major role in this gripping and highly dramatic tale. The reader never quite has the full picture but definitely will enjoy the satisfaction of figuring it all out until the end.

Well... haha this was definitely a fun and wicked ride!!

With having read The Ghostwriter and absolutely loved it... I was excited to read Every Last Secret. I have to say that I definitely enjoyed her first one a lot more but this was entertaining.

Talk about a fight between two women over winning the heart of a man. This was pure fun and entertainment. And can I just say that women can be SO brutal... my god haha.

What a quick page turner!!

3/5 stars

Thank you so much to Thomas & Mercer and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Every Last Secret is a thriller full of jealousy and betrayal. Cat and Neena are neighbors and build a fake friendship. Neena wants Cat's 'perfect' life but Cat will do whatever she can to prevent that. It was such a fast-paced read that had some manipulating characters. This is more than two women fighting over a man but more of how far these women will go to achieve success in all aspects of their life. ⠀

I give Every Last Secret 4 stars. It was easy to read and can easily be read in one sitting. The plot was interesting and it read like a Lifetime movie.

Shel: When telling my cousin about Every Last Secret, I likened it to Single White Female or Fatal Attraction--though I'm realizing that I'm dating myself with those references. If those references mean nothing to you, here's what you need to know--this novel is really hard to put down once you start it. It's categorized as "psychological fiction" --and that's probably the best way to put it. Torre's ability to capture the nuances of all types of relationships and what makes them work or fracture is one of the many things that really shine in this novel. Her powers of observation--of our human nature, our needs, our manipulations, and what we do to create the lives we want or we want to project--were spot on. Court: Dang, could not have said it better. This one was so good and I couldn't put it down either. I have always loved Torre's writing, but she definitely keeps getting better and upping her ability to craft a story that is nuanced, and enthralling and just keeps me hooked right to the last page. These people are all so flawed, but the insight we get into their thinking is spectacular. The execution of the story is so good, and I had to stay up wayyyy too late to see how it ended.

Shel: Alessandra Torre did a fantastic job of pulling me into the novel and making me completely invested in not what was happening but how it was happening. Torre seemingly removed the mystery of 'who done it' in the prologue so it appeared to be less about the end result and more about how Cat, Neena, William, and Matt got to there. I found myself strongly HATING characters and hate reading parts of chapters. Alternatively, I also found myself actually liking things at the end that I don't know that I should have--does that make me a psychopath?! Perhaps. I blame Torre for it all--the strong feelings, the inability to do an ounce of work, the one more chapter-ing until all hours of the night--because she once again wrote a novel that I couldn't get enough of. Court: YAS! I know who I am a fan of in the end, and while that probalby also makes me seriously messed up in the head these people are so very human and it is what makes this book exciting. They are down to their base instincts here, and how they navigate the game of being a big fish in a little pond. A.R. Torre has a beautiful gift to be able to keep us guessing where the story was going and ultimately surprised me by what I found out.

Shel: While I didn't have to get to the end to figure some things out, I truly enjoyed the entire journey to the end. And I liked the end--the sense of completion and yet the unexpected sense of melancholy that colored the last pages and left me with the most interesting sense of satisfaction and longing. Court: I felt the same way. It is a stand alone book, for sure, but I loved how satisfied I feel having read it. I was afraid to keep reading because I wanted it to last, but also very happy with the entire book front to back, and that is kind of a rare thing to get sometimes. I realllly enjoyed this book, and you must check it out!
