I enjoyed this one. The twist at the end was good and the story flowed well. I will definitely be recommending this one and I will be checking out more from this author.

I appreciate these authors for dealing with tough topics of loss and grief. I am going to for sure recommend these books to my students. But at the same time there were some disingenuous moments. I applaud their effort, but I think the execution could have been better.

All This Time was a quick and lovely read, reasons for my three stars are that safe for Marley, I didn't really like the characters. The book was short but it felt really long because there wasn't anything really happening.

TW: depression, death of a loved one, grief, car accident (in details), coma, trauma

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ All This Time - Rachel Lippencott & Mikki Daughtry

Thank you so much @simonschuaterca & @netgalley for the gifted copy in exchange of an honest review.

A beautiful young adult story filled with love, loss and hope.

🌼🌼🌼

After a huge fight on graduation night and a car accident, Kyle wakes up from his accident to learn his girlfriend Kim didn’t make it. Shattered, and uncertain how to move forward, Kyle tries to piece himself back together...

I have always been a sucker for a tragic young adult love story, and right from the first chapter this book can only be described as tragic. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because I think knowing little knowledge of the plot beyond the first chapter is exactly how this book should be read. I had lots of theories about where the book was going but all of them are wrong.

🌼🌼🌼

This book does such a remarkable job telling a story about piecing yourself back together after you’ve fallen apart. And seriously, is there anything better than a book filled with young love?!

RATING: 4 STARs
2020; Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers/Simon & Schuster Canada

I loved my dramatic and depressing novels as a teen, and All This Time let me have that nostalgic moment. I don't mean depressing that it was sad, but that it was taking on big issues that also make the romance seem epic. I would say it reminded me of A Walk to Remember. I am looking forward to reading other books by Daughtry and Lippincott when I need that small trip to my teen years.

This story instantly captured my attention; I had a hard time putting this book down. The characters were great, I found every character introduced, added an additional layer to the story. The plot was great, I wish I could get into the twists, talk about INCREDIBLE! I adored reading about Kyle and Marley and how vulnerable and raw they were with each other, it was beautiful. I really enjoyed that the book was written from Kyle’s point of view, I found it refreshing to experience all of his thoughts and perceptions. Heads up, be prepared to cry… because you will.

Wow does this author duo ever know how to write a tragic book! This book was so good! There is a couple twists and let me tell you I never knew that was to happen. I was listening to it as well as reading along. I gasped at the twist and couldn’t believe my eyes. I had to read the paragraph over and over. The twist was such a breathe of fresh air and I wanted to shout out loud.
Also this cover is amazing! I would totally cover buy this book. Without even knowing what the plot was!

Five Feet Apart was a success based mostly on luck — the writing wasn’t that great, there’s nothing original about the sick kid trope, and much of the information contained in it was incorrect. However, something about it just tugged at the heartstrings and broke you in pieces. All This Time is what happens when you try to re-capture something that happened via a stroke of luck. The writing was still bad, the information within still incorrect, and nothing original happened again. This time, without that luck, it just fell flat. The first half of this story was just another boring YA love story with a quirky girl and a boring handsome boy. A story as old as time. The second half was a roller coaster; constant up and downs and disorientation. Unfortunately it wasn’t the exhilarating kind of roller coaster, but rather the kind that has you screaming at the attendant, LET ME OFF!!

The cover of this book is just stunning. I loved 5 feet apart so I thought that I would give this book a go, this was a roller coaster of emotions and I loved every minute of it.

Kyle and Kimberly are the high school dream couple. But on prom night, she breaks up with him, breaking his heart and he crashes the car and the entire world changes.

The authors are great at capturing the all encompassing feeling of teenage love where a break-up really does feel like the end of the world. Be ready to be surprised and have your heartstrings pulled a few time, as the book takes a turn that for me was a bit predictable, but worked in its environment. If you're a bit of a cynic like me and found things to be a bit too fairytale perfect, please make sure to read the author's note. It reminded me of the power of the happy ending.

It was nice to read a YA romance from a guy's POV and I also loved the focus on Kyle's friendship with Sam.

Fans of their previous books and books like The Fault in Our Stars, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl will enjoy this one.

Thank you to Netgalley and Simon Teen for the e-arc of this book ine exchange for my honest thoughts.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley. Thank you to the author, the publisher and to Netgalley. I give this book 3.5 stars. It is sweet young adult book. I liked the characters, and the story. I think this book would be better suited to a teenaged girl...I will have my 13 and 15 year old girls read the book and provide a review.

I couldn't get into this book, I think the topic and characters were a little too young for me. DNF @ 30%.

Kyle and Kimberly were the perfect couple all through high school. On graduation night, Kim tells him she wants to break up while they’re driving after a fight. Then, they’re in a car accident. When Kyle wakes up with a head injury, he finds out that Kim is dead. Kyle struggles to get over his injury and his broken heart, until he meets Marley. Marley has also lost someone close to her, so she understands what Kyle is going through. They start a relationship that seems great, until Kyle has another accident. He has to put the pieces of his life back together a second time, but this time everything has changed.

This was a heartbreaking story about loss. Kyle and Marley lost people who were very close to them. They went through different stages of grief, including survivor’s guilt. They both survived tragic accidents which killed their loved ones, and they didn’t think they deserved to live after that. Since they were both experiencing the same feelings, they can relate to and support each other.

This story was so sad, until a shocking twist two thirds of the way through. I thought I knew where this story was heading, but I was completely wrong. This story kept my heart pounding right until the end. The ending was surprising and perfect for this heartbreaking story about love and loss.

I highly recommend this beautiful story.

Aww this book was just so cute... Cliche at times bet nevertheless an enjoyable read.
Daughtrey and Lippincott have a captivating way of writing and they are really good at tugging at the heartstrings! There was so much grief, guilt and loss in this book that made me shed some tears. Then all the love and cuteness just made me smile. Lots of emotions in this book. It was a super fast read and I recommend it if you want to pick something up that will take you somewhere that is both relatable and fantastic. I liked all the relationships and the dialougues. I especially liked Marley.
If you're into YA and are looking for a cute read, definitely pick this up. Will be reading Five Feet Apart soon as this one did not disappoint!

2.5 stars

To put it bluntly the main reason I picked this book up was because I absolutely loved Five Feet Apart, and who could resist that stunning cover! But I'll admit it was also a mistake to not read the synopsis before jumping.

Kyle and Kim have been dating most of high school, but on graduation night Kim delivers the shocking news she won't be following him to the same school in the Fall, and that they should see other people. In the midst of their conversation, they are involved in a life-changing accident, leaving Kim dead. With Kyle's world turned upside down, and his life spiraling, he meets Marley, a girl struggling with her own grief.

All This Time failed to capture my complete attention, and while I didn't hate it, I also didn't love it. I found myself wanting to know how things would go, but also racing to get through it. It certainly didn't grab my attention the way Five Feet Apart did, nor did it pack the same emotional punch. The major twice part way through was a redeeming factor, but it wasn't enough for me to love this book. I didn't enjoy the ending, and different parts definitely felt rushed, unrealistic, and immature.

While I didn't enjoy this one as much as I had hoped, there are definitely those out there who will absolutely love it. It's perfect for fans of Five Feet Apart, and The Fault of Our Stars, or those simply looking for a quick, easy YA romance. If unrealistic, sappy teenage love stories aren't your thing, then definitely skip it.

5/5⭐️ to All This Time by Mikki Daughtry and Rachael Lippincott

Firstly, a huge thank you to Simon & Schuster (Canada) and NetGalley for early access to the egalley! This was such an emotional, delightful read that also beautifully dealt with some heavy topics such as grief, death, and depression. Please consider this a trigger warning for these subjects. It centres around Kyle, who is in a very serious car accident on prom night, and it seems that he may not have anything left to live for. His football career ended when a tackle ruined his arm a year ago, he has a brain injury, and his girlfriend died in the car crash. His mom & best friend are worried, and Kyle just feels numb and lost. Enter Marley, a mystery girl who may be the only person who truly understands what he’s going through and who he feels drawn to. Will they be able to help each other heal?

As heavy as the subjects of grief and depression are, I felt that this book deal with them with sensitivity and hope while still appreciating their seriousness. The importance of family & friends is emphasized as a part of the grieving and/or depression processes, and I loved Kyles mom & friends that were a part of the story. I only wish we would have gotten to know them just a bit better! They push Kyle to move forward in his life, encourage him in his physical & mental recovery, while also giving him space in his grief and recovery processes.

Regarding Kyle, I felt like I could get attached to him as a character & understand his emotions from the beginning. The writing really helped translate his feelings and the overall atmosphere of the book, and helped us connect with the characters. His grief & recovery were not shied away from, which I appreciated, but the hopeful tones from his support circle and Marley keep the reader engaged and encouraged (I think this is especially important for those who closely relate to Kyle’s story). Speaking of Marley, I thought she was super loveable as well, and I adored their romance! A significant part of this is how they support each other in their grief processes.

If you were hoping for a big-feels YA contemporary in the vein of TFIOS, Five Feet Apart, or Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, I’d highly recommend All This Time!!! Plus, there’s a pretty big plot twist/surprise that was 👌👌👌 and really sealed the 5/5⭐️ rating.

I really don't know where to start with this book. I didn't like the writing at all; there was no flow, it just seemed like the authors strung up a bunch of similes and relevant references and called it a day. The characters had no depth so I didn't care about what happened to them. They all just seemed like stereotypical high school characters; you got the jock, his best friend, the popular girl, the quiet shy girl, etc. Up until the halfway point I was already not enjoying this story. And then the twist happened...

I can appreciate what the authors were trying to do with this twist but I did not think it worked at all. Everything that happened from that point until the end of the book was so unbelievable that I found myself laughing at how ridiculous it all seemed rather than being emotionally invested in what was happening, which is probably how I was supposed to feel. I also found this book dealt with themes such as mental health and grief in a problematic way. I commend the authors for what they tried to do with this book but I just really don't think it worked.
