This was a delightful book with ways to practice mindfulness for kids. I recommend it to the families that I work with!

Mindful Games for Kids is a bit of misnomer. The more accurate term would be "practices" or "activities" for fostering mindfulness in children. It contains a variety of breathing exercises focused on connecting kids to be more aware of themselves and their surroundings. The activities centered on feelings and emotions are by far the most practical and useful set for children of all ages, but the rest of the activities would most likely be boring for young children. A yoga/mindfulness instructor looking to add more activities to their repository would find this book useful.

This book is quite the gem! I actually have the Kindle version and decided to buy the paperback version too. As a school counselor, I love using this book with my 2nd and 3rd graders. There are many activities and they are broken into sections such as gentle thoughts, increasing body awareness, and breathing activities.

This book is wonderful. It helps children identify their emotions and be mindful through easy exercises for them and the whole family. I really enjoyed doing these exercises with my 8 and 9 year old sons. I found these exercises helpful on days when things can be a little overwhelming.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

I love how simple and easy this book was to use with my 4 and 8 year old. While some activities needed simple supplies others did not. I appreciated that many activities did not take long to complete, yet each taught an important lesson. My boys loved the illustrations and I loved that the instructions were clearly written, so much so that my 8 year old was able to read them on his own. This is easily a book that I could have him get and do on his own when he needs a break. I look forward to continuing these activities with my boys in the future.

Dealing with emotions is big thing today. Educational studies show that learning is increased when children are able to cope with their changing emotions. This book is for both parent and child and starts at a young age. Each activity is a game that helps calm your body and identify your emotions. It starts with learning to breath so many of the games are foundational in learning to breath. Breathing helps you emotionally and physically so learning to breath is important. Deep breath and exhales.

Their are 5 basic parts.
Magic Breath- Exercises in breathing
Being in charge- Exercises in our emotions
Gentle Thoughts-Exercises that bring good thoughts when we need them
Being a Positive Magnet-Exercises that help others and ourselves
Easy Emotions-Exercises in identifying our emotions such as jealousy, fear, etc.
My Amazing Body-Exercises in our body responds to our emotions.

Some of these exercises are repetitive but necessary. A tool to be kind to others and ourselves. Our emotions affect so much of our relationships and our well-being.

A Special Thank you to Rockridge Press and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

This book is an excellent resource for teachers. It is giving educators the tools to create a mindful space, where you can clean your mind and body. I felt like the exercises were easy to follow and really helped the participant with their well being. I will be using some of these exercises in the future with my students.

I would love to use this book with kids and maybe pair as many activities as I can with books. Like a rainbow book for blowing a rainbow. Things that can connect the idea and practice to a happy memory that encourages kids to use the strategies or “games” when they need to. I look forward to adding this to our library and SEL collection. MindfulGamesForKids #NetGalley

This is designed to help children with their feelings and thoughts in a fun way. It is for children ages 4 to 8, but older children might enjoy and benefit as well. The exercises and games last about 10 minutes. These activities help through different techniques to help with feelings such as meditation, deep breathing, listening and more. It helps them learn to be in control and learn to focus as well as calm. All of these are happening while kids are playing fun games such as Sing My Emotions, As Cool as a Snowflake, Positivity Magnet and many more. The games are great to play together, with grown ups or alone. This is a wonderful book for anyone with children from parents to grandparents, teachers to caregivers. There are five chapters: Breath, Senses, Thoughts, Emotions, and Body. There are colorful and eye-catching illustrations found throughout the book. The illustrations go with the games. This is a fun, helpful and useful book.

This book is amazing!!! Not only are the games/lessons so easy to follow and execute - my kids think we just playing. It’s perfect for ages 3-8 and the book is easy to follow. Each chapter is divided by either breathing exercises, emotions, thoughts, body practices etc. I especially recommend this book to autistic kids like my daughter. It really creates a safe place for her to learn how to exercise her emotions. Thank you NetGalley for a free e-book. This honest review is my own.

I got this as an Arc from Netgalley for my honest review. Excellent read if you have kids! Informative and well-written. My kids are younger than the recommended age, but they were still about to playa couple games. The best part of the book is the insight it gives me as a parent on how to manage strong-willed children.

Book Title: Mindful Games for Kids

Author: Kristina Sargent

Illustration: Kelley Buzzell

My Rating: :star: :star: :star: :star: / 5 :star:

This would be a great gift for any kids, teachers, and parents. Have 50 easy and fun mindful games for kids. The games are described step by step in very simple English for kids to follow. It would be fun party games for kids yet very calming too. When read alone the games seems like a simple boring one for the kids but when doing with other kids , it's really funny. The games divided into 5 sections,

Magic Breath
Spectacular senses
Gentle Thoughts
Easy Emotions
My amazing body

Here the chapter titles say everything. Though this book is mainly for kids above 8 or 9 years old some of the games are easy enough for the toddlers too.(My 5 year could do most of chapter 1 games). And some games like "Balloon Breathing" are even for adults to practice. (Believe me, it's really calming! ) . And buy the printed book than ebook or Kindle version,  as it would be easy for kids to handle, trace the pictures for the activity. My only concern is the illustrations could have been better , other than that I recommend this book.

I received this free ARC from #NetGalley and the publisher, and this review is straight from my heart!! HONEST AND UNBIASED.

This is a great resource for teachers and parents alike. Although marketed for kids ages 4-8, this can be adapted for any elementary age. There are five chapters with a total of 50 exercises. The average exercise is about five minutes in length. Colorful drawings illustrating the poses and techniques accompany each exercise. As a classroom teacher, I would most likely not use the exercises that requires drawing or sketching as this may be a dexterity challenge for some of students and it will certainly take much longer than anticipated. This is a great book for taking a brain break in the midst of a curriculum packed school day.

Thank you to Kristina Sargent, Callisto Media, and NetGalley for this complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book is perfect for caregivers, teachers, parents, grandparents, homeschoolers...you name it. Any child will benefit from these quick, fun games. I love that it takes the concept of emotional intelligence and mindfulness and incorporates them into themed mini-games.

The book is separated into 5 chapters: Breath, Senses, Thoughts, Emotions, and Body. Each chapter contains 10 games that coordinate with the theme of the chapter. The individual games have a picture that either illustrates the game or can be used directly with the game. The little blurb that explains the purpose for each game is my favorite. For example, the Positivity Magnet game teaches that thinking kind words about yourself can help you feel happier and calmer. None of the games take more than 10 minutes and can easily be incorporated into your routine any time of the day. The most common supply needed for the games: your imagination.

You won't regret buying this book for your child or classroom. Even though the age range says 4-8 years old, I was able to do a lot of these games with my 3 year old.
