Honor Avenged is the sixth book in the HORNET series by Tonya Burrows. A steamy romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet. While this is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone novel. From the beginning, you are drawn into the action and adventure. The characters are well-written and easy to relate to. I have not read any of the previous books in the Hornet series but plan to after reading Honor Avenged.

I came a little late to the party in this series but after this book you better believe I'll go back and catch up.

A beautiful friendship has turned into a need for revenge. Whoever killed Danny, his best friend, was going to pay. He would personally put a bullet in his or her head. How could he not? He loves him like a brother and they left Danny's wife without a husband and his kids without a father, he had to do it for them. But will he survive to keep that promise he made to himself and to Leah or will he die along the way? If he could just get this pain to stop.

Leah is struggling to survive and the person who promised her he would be here is gone, their best friend has ghosted her and this is just too hard. All of a sudden someone is trying to kill her?

I enjoyed this book and didn't want to put it down. I could feel the emotion from the pages of this one.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Leah Giancarelli's life has been chaos for almost a year. Her husband was killed while on a job for HORNET. Now she is working hard and trying to raise three kids. When bullets fly when she is showing a house, the reader meets Marcus, her husband’s best friend, who also works for Hornet.

I loved this book. The plot is a little typical of genre, two people trying to have a relationship that is marred by guilt, but the writing is fantastic. The author does an amazing job of drawing the reader in with the character development. You can almost feel the guilt Leah feels with her attraction to Marcus and I love how Marcus is both a strong alpha male who wants to protect Leah, but also has a sensitive side.
I highly recommend this book and will be buying a copy as well.

After Marcus's best friend, Danny, is killed in front of him, his world is crushed. Grief is so strong that when he kissed his widow, Leah, guilt is added to the mix. Right after the funeral, he leaves abruptly to avenge Danny's death.

When he finally leaves everything behind, Leah is no longer safe. He must come back and keep her and the kids safe even when everything he feels about her strengthens and feels even more wrong.

This book is an action-packed and thrilling adventure that kept me on my toes throughout the book. There is a lot going on between plot twists and the characters running for their life. In the end, it was a fast read. Leah is a strong woman, a loving mother who tries to stay afloat after her husband passed away. She is caught into an impossible situation where she has to rely on her husband's best friend. She is attracted to him and it grows even more with time.

Marcus is a stubborn, loyal friend whose love knows no bound. His grief consumes him, but his love for Leah is adding the guilt, which is never a good combo. As he fights for Leah's safety, he learns to deal with his demons. He works for Hornet, a group of independent militants who fully support them against powerful enemies.

Though it is part of a series, this book can be read as a standalone. There are different points of view, which is great because it helps understand each character even those who work for Hornet. I truly enjoyed this book, it was a thrilling adventure.

HORNET Agent Marcus Deangelo, former FBI, was there when his best friend and former partner Danny Giancarelli was murdered. He was unable to save Danny and now Danny’s wife, Leah, is left to raise their three children. Marcus is determined to find the man who killed Danny as well as those that ordered the hit. When Leah is attacked and barely escapes, she fears for both her and her children’s safety. What was Danny working on and what information did he leave behind that has brought this danger in to their lives? HORNET team members, a hostage rescue group, will soon learn that Danny’s murder was just the beginning of a far-reaching criminal enterprise, one that people are willing to kill and die for to protect. Hot action starts from the beginning of this fast-paced suspense until the very end. I definitely need to read the first books in this series. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

"Glass exploded around her, rained down in little shards that bit into her skin. What the...?"
Leah Giancarelli's life has been an unsettled mess for almost a year already. Her husband, Danny, was killed while on a job for HORNET. Since then, she's had to keep herself and their 3 kids going on with their lives. But now? Now, bullets are flying at her when she's supposed to showing a house.

This turn of events brings her old friend, and Danny's best friend, Marcus, back into her life. Marcus has tried to avoid all connection to Leah since Danny's death. But now, someone wants Leah dead. Marcus and HORNET have to find out why. While doing this, Marcus and Leah have to sort out their feelings for one another. Which has come with a load of guilt.

I loved this story! The action and the romance were absolutely on point!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank the author and Netgalley for this ARC.

It's been a while since I last read a HORNET book, so I re-read Reckless Honor to update myself a bit.

Leah lost her husband Danny when he was on a mission with HORNET. She's left with 3 young children . She, Danny and Marcus have been best friends since childhood.

Marcus is part of HORNET and witnessed Danny's death. He blames himself and swears to find the person responsible. He also feels guilty for the feelings he has for Leah.

When Leah is attacked, she turns to Marcus for help.

There's a lot of action, angst and drama. The ending gives us an opening to the next book. I really hope it's Ian's. I can't wait to read his story.

**I received a copy of Honor Avenged by Tonya Burrows from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My review was not solicited in any way and is mine alone.**

Honor Avenged by Tonya Burrows is the sixth book in her HORNET Series and picks up where book five ends with Marcus trying to understand why his buddy Danny died in on Martinique. This book has everything angst, Black Market trafficking of human organs, and of course a hostage. But when it comes to the climatic ending will Marcus and Leah give into their feelings for each other?

When Leah Giancarelli is attacked while showing a house she's given a jump drive and told that it contains information on her late husband's death. She doesn't trust HORNET so instead heads to Marcus to see what he knows. They'll travel to Asia, Central Africa and finally back to the USA where information from the drive shows how deep the ties are for the black market and who could be behind the group. Can she escape the person who tried to keep Danny from telling who the person really is?

Marcus Deangelo is struggling with his BFF Danny's death but finding the answer won't be at the bottom of the bottle or surfing especially since his feelings toward her feel like a betrayal to Danny. But when Leah shows up in Indonesia he doesn't hesitate to call his team in to find out the real killer all while running from the people who want them dead. The jump drive could expose the person behind the group who sells human organs to the highest bidder. The ending is climatic and the final chapter leads into the next book and it's a eye opener that's for sure.

Wow I am not use to such an action packed and suspenseful novel. I tend to lean into the Rom Com genre but thought I would give this one a whirl. If as a reader I'll be honest, I mostly chose this because I figured with the hot guy on the cover and the discription it would be fireworks the entire time. Definately a different type of fireworks with the action in this book but it actually really had me captivated. The chemistry is so evident and the yearning between them is certainly there. Definately shocked by how much I enjoyed it. Thank you Tonya Burrows for a great read that got my heart pumping and NetGalley for the ARC.

Excellent! Filled with action and suspense. Leah loses her husband and her best friend. Marcus loses his best friend and it leaves him in a very dark place. Danny was like a brother to him. Leah is now in danger and it sends her running to Marcus for help. There is page turning action as they run from mercenaries out to kill them, and try to figure out who really killed Danny and is trying to kill her. They also have to face the developing feelings of love between them and make the decision about where they want to see themselves going in the future. It is a great ride that will leave the reader wanting to come back for future stories in the series.

HORNET is back, so strap yourself in for a fast paced, adrenaline fueled love story about two broken people finding their way back to each other after tragedy had ripped them apart and allowing them to heal in ways that only the other can make happen.

This story ripped my heart out, made my cry, had me holding my breath and had me glued to the pages from the start to end when I put it down and finally took a deep breath and thought, how does this series keep getting better with each story? I already can’t wait for the next book.

Marcus and Leah will drag you through all the emotions as they fight for their lives and the lives of their loved ones and teammates against a villain who was truly vile. Tonya Burrows does an amazing job again of pulling you into the story so well that you can almost feel the heat of the jungles and the zing of the bullets as they fly by.

I’m keeping this brief as you really need to experience this book fresh and untainted. What I will say is that this is a perfect addition to the HORNET series.

Loved this! After the last few and the sudden spin-off series, I was about to give up. This felt back to the rhythm, action, and character development I've loved in the author's earlier books. Over time Marcus went from the calm and the notoriously handsome one of the group to tragic and spiraling downward. Leah was an sympathetic and strong character. She never became the strong "I don't need no man" or getting into TSTL situations. They were a great couple in an emotionally and action packed book. The opening action sucked me in right away.

I would have a hard time recommending this as a standalone. There's too much history with Marcus, Danny, Mercedes, etc. to not feel lost and understand motives. Plus, you're missing on the buildup that makes this so emotional and satisfying. There are 3 POVs - Leah, Marcus and... Ian. His addition is a great development towards his story. I still want to stick to the core group before getting into the trainees, but I think adding Xander's story will further develop Ian/Mercedes.

4 1/2 Stars for the fast-paced romance!

Leah's husband died while he was on a mission with the HORNET team and she blames them for this death. And especially her husband's best friend Marcus ... as the bullet was meant for him. Almost a year later when Leah is trying to rebuilt her life for her children, she is the target of an attack and the only person she knows will help her is Marcus. Marcus has been hiding in Indonesia surfing and drinking since his best friend died ... on his watch. He can't face Leah and the kids knowing he let them down. But when Leah finds him and asks for his help, he can't deny her or his growing feelings for her. Will they be able to accept their feelings for each other as they run for their lives?

This book just grabbed me from the beginning and didn't let me go till the end. It's full of adventure, suspense, drama and romance! I felt so sorry for Marcus because he was so caught up in his grief for his best friend that he lost himself. I loved how Leah was strong enough to go to him for help even though he tried to push her away. A great addition to a great series that shouldn't be missed!

ARC received for review

This one had more angst than the previous books, but still just as much action and adventure as the previous books. It was great to see all the previous peeps. Ms. Burrows made me cry, again, or maybe I'm just becoming a sap. Now will the next book be Ian or him, and if it's him who would he hook up with, or will it be back to Alpha Class .... hhhhmmmm

“Honor Avenged”, by Tonya Burrows (Entangled: Amara), is an action-packed romance with the Hornet team we came to love so much from previous stories, featuring a hero tortured with guilt.
The hero and heroine have a shared past and trauma and are still struggling with the loss the man who was his best friend and her husband. The feelings of loss and grief and dealing with three fatherless children are still raw. Arcus and Leah are also dealing with the unexpected chemistry that makes them feel both hot for each other and guilty.
Marcus is a shadow of the man he was. The grief because of the loss of a friend who was like a brother and the death circumstances are still an open wound.
The true love and affection between the romantic couple, their families and Hornet members is something I love in Tonya Burrows’ stories, and this one doesn’t disappoint with its blend of comradeship, loyalty and very close ties.
Leah blaming Hornet for Danny’s death was a bit irrational, after all, her late husband had a job of high risk. Marcus wavering about Leah because of the guilt issues felt a little redundant.
Against the backdrop of big crime organizations and organs trafficking and set in a poor African country, the story shows new and promising sides of Ian, the elusive Hornet operative who doesn’t think or miss sex (so refreshing for a fictional hero nowadays).

I love this series and these members of HORNET so much. Some of my favorite romantic suspense right here! Ms. Burrows sure knows how to do it up right! This is a great story with edge of your seat action and suspense with a nice size helping of tender and emotional as Marcus deals with the fall out in his life of losing his best friend Danny but having real feelings for his widow Leah and her kids. And of course this is all happening while trying to stay alive and find out who killed Danny. Such an awesome book!

High octane romance:
I enjoyed this book and found it captured my attention from the very beginning. There is plenty of fast paced action but I especially enjoyed the intrigue and investigative aspects of the book. Quite violent at times and I wasn't always comfortable with their actions, yet I could understand why they reacted that way.
This was a slow burn romance. Marcus is full of self loathing and blames himself for his best friends death. He also hates that he is falling for his widow, but when Leah finds herself in danger, he's compelled to do anything in his power to protect her. Meanwhile Leah is doing her best to take care of her family and survive in the wake of her husband's death. At times I wanted to shake the two of them, especially when they didn't talk about how they were feeling and shut themselves down. I was so glad when they were finally honest with each other.
This is book 6 in the HORNET series; I hadn't read any of the prior books however was able to follow along just fine. I do have some catching up to do though, as now I want to know the other team members stories!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Leah is widowed when her FBI agent husband, Danny, dies on a mission. She’s left with her three children and a dislike for HORNET, the rescue group that she blames for her husband’s death.

Marcus was a member of HORNET and Danny’s best friend since childhood. He blames himself for Danny’s death and has feelings for Leah as well. His guilt has him hiding away, avoiding work and family.

That is, until Leah becomes a target of a mercenary group and no one really knows why.

This book kept me reading with all of the connections and ties between FBI investigations, corruption in the government, civil war in CAR and more. There was a lot going on and I appreciate an overarching story that keeps you excited for future books.

The romance between Marcus and Leah was so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. They both had so much love to give, but there was always the ghost of Danny. The bits of humor and movie quotes helped balance the heavier aspects of the story.

I’m also excited to go back and read about previous HORNET members and see what happens next to some very interesting characters!
