Quite a different story for a rancher. I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Silver and Ben. It was interesting to watch it unfold and see how the future would work given that they are from two very different backgrounds.
This is a cowboy romance series. This is book 3 in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. This book follows the romance between Ben (a cow rancher/cowboy) and Silver (a super star actress). They both have over controlling Dads, and they are both dealing with their past. This book was so great. There was steamy sexy scenes, there was drama, and there was over coming. I loved it so much. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The Rebellious Rancher (The Millers of Morgan Valley #3). By Kate Pearce. 2020. Zebra Books (ARC eBook).
Hard working cowboy Ben Miller is at a lost when his father writes up a will that will leave the family ranch solely to Ben’s older brother, Adam. Feeling resentment and insecurity, Ben decides to take a break from the Miller Ranch when the Morgan’s dude ranch asks for his help in taking a mysterious client on a 10-day trail ride. The client turns out to be Silver Meadow, an actress who plans to rough it with five suitcases. Clearly the two of them are from two different worlds.
Growing up in Hollywood since she was a child star, Silver want’s to break away from cast type and land a role in an upcoming independent Western film. Being able to put down the trail ride excursion on her resume motivates Silver, but soon she grows to appreciate the skills the quiet Ben teaches her in handling the horses and mules, setting up tents and camps, preparing meals, and braving the elements. As a romance begins the two wonder if their mutual attraction last will last when the trip ends? Can Ben, a man so bound to the land he’s known all of his life, and Silver, a jet-setting starlet looking to establish her independence bridge the best of both worlds?
The Rebellious Rancher is the third book in The Millers of Morgan Valley series and I enjoyed Ben and Silver’s opposites-attract romance very much. The storyline flowed really well, from Silver learning to navigate a trail ride through rugged terrain, to Ben braving the brash Hollywood spotlight; the growth of their relationship was believable and made for an excellent read. I look forward to the next Miller book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a wonderful addition to the series. While it is the third book of the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.
I will say that it took me some time to warm up to Silver Meadow. She is an actress that wants to go on a trail ride in order to prepare for an upcoming role that she would like to do. Ben Miller is a local rancher who is struggling with his older brother inheriting the family ranch and what his role is. These two come from two totaling different backgrounds. She is “Hollywood royalty” and he is a rancher’s son and a college dropout with a black mark in his history.
Can these two overcome their differences and have a HEA? It was a read that I enjoyed reading but Silver appeared a little too much standoffish but since the story is written in my favorite dual POV format, it helped to connect with the character.
This is a sexy read. I highly recommend this to anyone over the age of 18.
This was a pretty good book. I’m a big fan of this author and this book was just as good as the others. I really liked Ben right from the beginning. I did grow to really like Silver (not that she was terrible, just star issues). The first half of the book was kind of slow as Silver and Ben get to know each other, but considering the setting, it was just fine. The second half moved really quickly and had me missing some sleep to finish it. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend.

I loved the book as much as the author. Kate Pearce continue to bring up weaknesses and strength in conflicting feelings.
This book is the third in series set in Morgantown. Ben Miller, normally calm and steadfast, is feeling out of sorts and resentful, his bossy and difficult father has decided to leave his ranch to Ben's older brother, and still expects Ben to work hard.
Ben decides he needs a break from everything, including his estranged mother coming back into his life, and accepts a job leading a trail ride fro one of the ranch's neighbours.
The identity of his trail partner is a secret that he has to keep, it is Silver, a superstar actress, who is doing some research in the hope of being cast in a meatier role than she has done before. Keen to escape her controlling parents, who micromanage her life, Silver takes to the trail ride with gusto, and a whole load of mistaken expectations. When she has to rough it, can she cope without her phone, and can her growing feelings for Ben be realised. How will Ben and Silver get through the trials and tribulations of the trail ride, and how can a rancher and a film star find happiness and career satisfaction together.
What I really enjoyed about this book was the relationship development between the two main characters, and the adventure they had on the ride, I really warmed to the way Silver stepped up to the challenge of the trial, and how they both finally stood up to their controlling families.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
This is the third book in the Millers of Morgan Valley series. I really enjoyed this story. I would also recommend the whole series, it's all worth reading! The author creates great characters that you enjoy reading about.
The Rebellious Rancher is a beautiful love story about a rancher and movie star. Ben and Silver are complete opposites and yet they have so much in common. Their romance is unexpected and will take readers on one crazy ride.
Ben is a rancher who is struggling with certain decisions when we meet him. He always imagined running his father's ranch, but plans change when his dad leaves the ranch to his older brother. He knows he wants to live the life of a rancher but can he still do it with his feeling of resentment?
Silver is a famous movie star who is used to getting whatever she wants. She is up for a role that has many western themes. She wants to do research for the part and decides to get a trail guide to show her the ropes of ranch life. And that person just so happens to be Ben.
Ben and Silver are from different worlds so its hard for them to see eye to eye on things. But a 10 day trail ride changes everything. They spend every day together and begin to open up. That's when they are able to connect and realize that they arent' so different.
I loved seeing them open up and talk about their pasts. It helped me understand why they are who they are. Both also got to see each other for who they truly were. Ben wasn't just the closed off rancher and Silver wasn't just the celebrity princess everyone thought she was.
I give The Rebellious Rancher 4 stars. The romance was so intriguing and I adore a ranch setting. I think readers will appreciate this opposites attract trope and Kate Pearce's easy to read writing style.

**MINI-REVIEW**
The Bottom Line: I am going to admit from the beginning, a load of my dislike for this book comes from the name of the female character. I simply had a difficult time taking a character named Silver Meadow seriously. Putting that aside, I rather enjoyed Ben and his difficult situation. Ben Miller isn’t at all certain of his place in the world and if he doesn’t figure it out soon, he’s going to be both jobless and homeless. When the opportunity to take on an extended trail ride job arises, Ben sees it as an opportunity to not only enjoy a bit of nature but take stock of his life and hopefully figure out a plan for the future. Ben’s story, though entangled with Silver’s is the best part of this book and I liked reading about his evolution and his eventual life plan. Ben works out a load of issues in a single read and though it’s complicated and often heartbreaking, it has to be done. I liked Ben’s part of the story immensely, but Silver’s was harder to enjoy which left me at a lower star rating than I generally assign to this series and author.
I liked Ben and Silver's love story. Ben was a rancher through and through. He was a second son whose family ranch had been turned over to his older brother to run and he was feeling unimportant. His dad was a hard man who taught his sons to suppress their emotions otherwise it made them weak. He got an assignment from a friend to be a guide for a mystery client who needed a realistic backwoods ranch exploration experience. It turned out his client was a famous actress, Silver, who he had always thought of as a beautiful woman. She wanted a part in an indie western film and needed the experience without anyone knowing where she had gone. Ben was her guide who gave more than just the roughing it in the wild kind of lesson. I liked Ben's character and Silver turned out to be not so much of a pampered holiday princess as she appeared to be in the beginning.
I'm not really a fan of explicit sex scenes. I feel like you can get the chemistry without the specifics in detail so I didn't really enjoy that part of this story. The story itself was a good one. Ben and Silver both had to assert their independence in order to find lasting happiness. There is a happy ending to this story.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Who doesn't love a story featuring a cowboy? Pierce is one of my favorite authors and didn't disappoint me with this book.
Two unlikely love interests coming together provide the perfect balance to funding so they are. Definitely another great installment into the series. I absolutely love the Miller brothers and each story connecting to the previous!
What a great book! Ben and Silver make their way out on the trails in this wonderful Montana romance. Kate Pearce writes an original story that touches on so many great topics: friendship, bravery, trying something new, loyalty, and of course love. You don't want to miss this read!
This is about Silver and Ben and how they handle issues on the trail, as well as their burgeoning romance. Silver may be a Hollywood actress, but one thing she is not, is spoiled. She is real and genuine, and the connection she has with Ben, along with their beginning romance is just great reading. Their story will hit all the feels that readers look for in a Kate Pierce romance, and this one is no exception. For readers that love western romance, you won't want to miss "The Rebellious Rancher". I read many genres, and western romance is one of my favorites. I received "The Rebellious Rancher" and leave my review voluntarily based on my reading. 5 Stars!
Ben Miller is a hard worker in the family ranch. It's in his blood and he's good at it. But he's feeling unappreciated after his father decided to leave the entire operation to his older brother Adam. And dealing with his father is not a fun conversation, he's been hard on his boys since their mother left. Now's Ben is trying to decide what's next for him. Taking a trail ride job from the Morgans is a perfect distraction.
Silver Meadows is a world famous actress looking for new opportunities to show everyone she's more than a pretty face. Taking in the challenge of a ten day trail ride is the perfect combination of getting away from her overprotected family and having real life experiences as research for a role she wants. What she didn't expect is Ben and the draw she had to him. And when danger strikes they both learn how strong they can be. But will secrets and meddling break them before they can have a chance for real happiness?
The third book in The Millers of Morgan Valley, The Rebellious Rancher is a great addition. A well delivered story with heartfelt moments and great characters. I will be recommending this series and look forward to reading more.
‘The Rebellious Rancher‘ is the third title in ‘The Millers of Morgan Valley‘ series, and it kept me flipping pages from start to finish.
Ben, as the second son, didn’t get the ranch as he’d hoped. No, that went to his older brother. So, now Ben is trying to find his own place on a ranch that isn’t his to run – and most likely, he’ll end up heading out on his own one day. But for now, he’s heading up a trail ride trip for one spoiled, entitled Hollywood actress who is certainly not accustomed to what she’s going to find on this trail ride, nor the attitude that Ben is about to bring into play. For Ben, this is the chance to get away from the ranch and thoughts that he’d rather not face right now. For Silver, this is supposed to be the chance to get ready for a part that she desperately wants in an upcoming movie. She has no idea that her overbearing, overprotective, controlling parents are at the center of this experience… or that she’d return from this trip a much changed in attitude young woman. Funny how some events have the exact opposite effect than was intended, isn’t it?
I could say that it took me a bit to warm up to Silver, but she was portrayed, early on, pretty much as I’d expected a spoiled, catered to actress would be when she has to do all those mundane things for herself and is cut off from social media and her phone. What I did really enjoy about Silver was watching her change, become a different better person the longer she was away from parents, career, and social media. In the end, I liked her and was definitely rooting for her to get that happy ever after she and Ben so deserved.
I adored Ben from the start. I ‘got’ why he was so upset about the ranch, understood how much he loved it, and how now he’d be making different life choices. Watching an angry cowboy deal with a pampered star brought out the giggles, and the eye rolls. I had such a good time with the interactions between Silver and Ben – and loved watching them both grow from the people we first meet to a couple who will have to face a lot to be together but their resolve and love are strong enough for that.
We’ll run into some familiar faces, watch a couple grow individually and together as they face some very real dangers, and enjoy a romance that makes my heart smile. If you love a good love story with an unlikely couple facing challenges then ‘The Rebellious Rancher‘ is perfect for you.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I really enjoy this series and found this book to be another great addition! I usually don't care for romances with someone who is famous - rocker, actor, or model so I was pleasantly surprised that this was a romance that I could really get into.
Both Ben and Silver have controlling and opinionated family members and at times, I wanted to shake them and tell them to confront the person and don't let them take advantage of you!! Fortunately, while it seemed slow, they did get to that point and with those family members, it took multiple attempts!
It was also great to see the previous characters in this book, and can't wait for another book in the series and their romance.
There was lots of personal growth, drama, and romance so it was hard to put the book down and I ended up staying up way late into the night so I could finish the book.
The only thing that I did not see and I want to know - Silver's brother, Aaron, what is his real name???!
The Rebellious Rancher by Kate Pearce is book Three in The Millers of Morgan Valley Series. This is the story of Ben Miller and Silver Meadow. I have read the previous books which did add to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel this is a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Silver is a actress that is ruled by her family and Hollywood. When Silver is sent to do a Wilderness Trail she thinks it is related to her job. Ben is offered a large amount of money to take Silver out for a 10 day trail ride. Ben needed to get away from the family ranch after his father had chosen his brother to run the ranch. So he needed the break but he didn't count on the feelings that he would have for Silver. Silver starts to find herself being away from her overbearing family who depend on her to survive. Silver starts to see things clearly but she also starts to have feelings for Ben. Enjoyed their story.
