I truly love everything that Kerrigan Byrne writes, so I was going into All Scot and Bothered with very high expectations. Though it took me a little while to get into the groove with this story, I'm happy to report that it fully won me over in the end.
The plot threw me for a loop, as it's... complicated, to say the least. I was trying to figure out how all of these unbelievable pieces would fit together. Sure, I think it got overly muddled at times, but I eventually got into the groove of things and became immersed in these characters.
Kerrigan Byrne writes characters with Angst, that's right, capital A. Her characters usually have to crawl their way back from hell, and I liked that she pulled no punches with this story. Both of these MCs have suffered in the past, and it made their happiness that much sweeter.
I absolutely love that we got a curvaceous heroine. Not someone who has a little extra meat on her bones, but a thick woman with curves for days. It's what I needed in my life. And the hero loves every inch of her and craves a woman like that. Yes, please! I also adored the enemies-to-lovers plotline, and the uptight male MC who was hiding a passionate soul. Just the type of characters I love to read about.
Put aside some of your logic to make the plot work and you'll be a happy camper, just like me. I swear, Kerrigan Byrne can do no wrong.

I was pretty close to rounding up on this one but couldn't quite tip it over the edge. But this was still a fun read.
"He said he and I were similar souls. It was though he could see parts of himself in me."
"I can guess which parts."
I found I got off to a bit of a rough start with this because we're thrown into a weird situation out of nowhere, alongside one of our MCs, but while she got some answers along the way, I still felt it took too long to settle into the goings on. Likewise, I felt it dragged just as things started to really settle. But then near the end? I was crying. I was moved. And then wham bam we had lots of action and reveals, ma'am. Things wrap up pretty quick, in fairly predictable ways -- though we had a delightful tease and set-up for book three -- but I was still feeling those earlier lovelier feels.
"I am a woman, Ramsay, I am used to pain."
Jean-Yves is the star of this show, yes he is. I want a devoted French butler, please.
"Are you all willing to resort to violence?"
"No."
"Yes."
"Only if strictly necessary."
This series is definitely a highlight when it comes to strong female characters but also fantastic female friendships. The depths the author gives these Red Rogues is just delightful. I was really happy with the dimension Byrne had given to book one's hero but found this one a bit less memorable and a little more typical and/or standard for HR. That said, I think we're going to get a change-up when it comes to the next man in this round up (or at least I hope so!). And with that said..
Looking forward to book three.

Ohhh wow what an amazing read. I haven’t felt emotions like this in a long time. This author out does herself in each book. She reminds me of Johanna Lindsey. Such originality and what a wonder page turner. Can’t wait for tbt next one
I thought this was a really good second book for this series. Did I want more from the plot and overall character development of some characters? Yes. But this did follow the character I really wanted to read from, Cecelia, the curvy one the The Red Rogues. Loved how she fired backed at Ramsay for being a misogynous pig and telling him she should be worth more to him than what his career is. I will be leaving trigger warning in my Goodreads review for anybody who needs to see them.
Not just a romance novel, To Catch an Earl is a crime thriller where the criminal is the HEROINE!

From the beginning, readers are drawn in by the mysterious beginning to Emmy Danvers and Alex Harland’s relationship (some stolen, heated kisses in the garden of a masquerade ball). You’ll be pulled in by this dalliance, but you’ll stay for the suspenseful jewel heists, the clever detective work, and the cat and mouse game played by our Bow Street hero and feisty (yet not all together “bad”) heroine thief.

My blood pounded from the pilfering plots, the thrill of a chase, and of course the romantic interludes.
“But dreams are full of hope, and without hope, my lord, you might as well hang us all on your gallows, for we’ve no reason to be human anymore.”
Kerrigan Byrne writes beautiful, hopeful prose. Her strong heroines and flawed but good-hearted heroes are the stuff book dreams are made of. While this book is a standalone, readers may enjoy it more if they’ve first read ‘How to Love a Duke in Ten Days,’ where these characters were first introduced.
I enjoyed Cecelia and Ramsay’s story, but it did leave me with unanswered questions. Hopefully those answers will come with the third book in the trilogy. I’m eager for more of the Red Rogues.
Cecelia Teague has always been extremely smart and has no family to speak of, raised from early childhood by Vicar Josiah Teague she spent most of her early years paying for the sins of others. Plucked from his awful abuse by Genevieve Leveaux, Cecelia is swept up into a comfortable life where she can be herself and is sent to the best schools. That life is exponentially complicated by the untimely death of her aunt and inheritance of Miss Henrietta's School for Cultured Young Ladies. Enter Cassius Gerard Ramsay, Lord Chief Justice of the High Court. His job is to investigate all activity at the most notorious gaming house in London, owned by the one woman who's stirred any feeling in him in 8 years.
I absolutely adored this book, it has a little bit of everything, super tragic backstories, age gap, enemies to lovers, suspense, mystery, a grump who turns soft for the smart one. I love that Cecelia is intelligent and excels at math, she's curvy, not afraid of a challenge, and her main goal wasn't to get married. Ramsay, what can I even say about him? Initially, I hated him, he was a self-righteous jerk, a little more than halfway through, it hit me "oh my gosh, I actually love him". There were a couple of twists that I probably should have seen coming, but I was so swept up in the story-telling that I was caught off guard. I can not wait for the third book to see where this series goes.
Loved the second installment to this series. It has been a while since I read How to Love a Duke in 10 Days, so it took a little bit to get back into the plot as it continues. Loved Cassius and Cecelia! He is the Chief Justice and she is the new owner of a gaming hell that may deal in prostitutes on the side— oh my! Get ready for some more intrigue too! 5 amazing stars
Cecelia and Ramsay. Both had horrible childhoods. Came together as adults in a hate to love relationship, more so on Ramsay's part. Add Phoebe to the mix and it was just the right amount of mystery, action, romance and family.
Cecilia Teague is a modern woman trapped in the regency era. When she inherits a gambling hall and possible brothel, she also inherits an enemy in Lord Ramsey. But enemies become friends when Cecilia's life is in danger and Lord Ramsey takes her away to protect her. I enjoyed Lord Ramsey and Cecilia getting to know each other and working through their individual issues to find happiness in the end.
Kerrigan Byrne knows just what I'm looking for when it comes to a historical romance. Her series have been making me rush to buy the next book ever since she began putting out novels and this book is no exception.
From beginning to end I was hooked. I love all the characters in this novel. They are wonderfully crafted and give me all the character building I crave in a good literary piece.
As ever Ms. Byrne has created a literary prose worthy of the genre and packs in all the action we readers crave. Her dramatic flair has hit new levels with this book, and I can’t wait to see what she creates next.
I truly felt very fortunate to have received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest, unbiased review. It was incredibly well written, and I can’t wait to see what she has in store for us readers next.
This was a swoon worthy read! I had such a great time reading it and really liked the development of the plot. Both the main characters were flawed and yet watching them fall in love with each other and learning to accept each other was sweet. I liked the action and mystery in the story and found this to be an overall great read!
Who doesn't love a Kerrigan Byrne book? This book held up to my expectations from Ms. Byrne.
I love a good enemies to lovers and was not disappointed with Ramsey and Cecelia. Ramsey a very grumpy and straight laced hero falls for our light if heart and over abundance of kindness heroine. Cecelia always managed to bring out the tender heart and mushy side of Ramsey.
Cecelia being described as a curvy, voluptuous woman was very dear to my heart. Being curvy can be hard to find love but Ramsey loved everything about her. It was nice to see a little bit of reality in this story.
As with other covers of Kerrigan Byrne this one didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a good enemies to lovers story!!
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book. Kerrigan is one of my favourite historical romance authors that I will auto buy.
This book was just as good, if not better than her previous ones. I loved the characters and the romance made me so happy while reading.
I would recommend this book.
Kerrigan Byrne has once again proven her prowess as an author. Her wonderfully well thought out and highly developed characters coupled with her amazing talent for storytelling will wow you. The age gap did admittedly throw me for a small loop, however I found this to be such a truly wonderful read that I would have no problems adding this to my read again list. I was given this book to review by Netgalley. All opinions expressed here are my own and completely voluntary.
Cecelia is a member of the Red Rogues. She had a terrible go of it for the first several years of her life. Ramsey is a straight-laced justice with no compassion. They meet at his brothers party and he is instantly attracted to her. Nothing comes of it until they meet again 3 months. He is attracted to her, but distrusts women. Sparks and tempers fly. Ramsey must save Cecelia before he can love her.
Kerrigan Byrne is a wonderful author and this is a terrific installment! The hero is Scottish and grumbly for those who like that sort of thing. :P The deception storyline really worked for me.
All Scot and Bothered is a swoon worthy romance between a shy and kind-hearted heroine, Cecelia, and a grumpy bear of a Scot, Cassius Gerard Ramsay. Both bearing secrets that have left them scarred in different ways, yet when they are together, sparks fly…and old wounds begin to heal by the power of being loved unconditionally.
Kerrigan Byrne has written a tale of how a kind beautiful heart can be the balm to sooth even the fiercest beast. I’ll not spoil the twists and turns of Cecelia and Ramsay’s love affair, Loved everything about this book!
This is my first Kerrigan Byrne book and boy did I love it. Enemies to lovers story in a Historical Romance. Warning, this one comes in a bit on the darker side and might make some readers uncomfortable with emotional abuse and some name calling. Also brings in a heroine with a curvy figure, my only complaint here is that the cover model is very slim so this does not fit with the actual story line (not the author’s fault).
I know I am in the minority but this book just did not work for. I couldn’t connect with any part of it. The plot seemed haphazardly thrown together and the characters left me cold. Byrne is an author I am always excited to read and this book was an anomaly. Hoping to love the next book in the series more.
