Really enjoyed this thriller. I love domestic thrillers and I feel this was very well executed. It kept me guessing and I was intrigued throughout. Defintely recommend if you enjoy domestic thrillers.
I did not care for this book. Personally, it was not only slow-moving, which in this genre of psychological thriller you cannot do, it didn't hold your attention with any promise that there was more to come. I only made it about 1/3 into the book, sadly. I wanted to like this book, but simply could not. Thank you to NetGalley for an Advanced Reading Copy of this title in exchange for my honest review.
Intriguing storyline. Enjoyed the different narrator viewpoints throughout. A number of twists leading to the final conclusion.
I was very excited to read this book as it sounded just my cup of tea. Unfortunately although the plot line was good and twisting I felt like a stone skimming on a lake, just dipping on the surface to then quickly move on to the next bit of action. None of the four characters were likeable, but there again the reader is only given superficial descriptions with no depth so they were all one dimensional. This is a shame because the premise of the story had such potential. If you don’t mind not liking or caring about the protagonists, then this is a good fast paced thriller. Sorry but I can only give this book three stars.
What an exciting read. It was a whirlwind of a book to read. One thing blends into the nxt. Thrilling read. The book was very well written. Great plot . True to life to relate to . Hit
My Darling is such a fun read, short chapters (some just one paragraph) , two crazy women, Jade and Emma doing battle over one of their men. We know right away that Jade moving next door is going to be trouble so let’s just relax and take pleasure in the story. And what a story! The twists and turns are really very well thought out and work perfectly for both women, until they don’t. Forgot to mention the man they are involved with, but it doesn’t matter it’s all about an epic Jade vs Emma contest and what a splendid clash that becomes. Loved it.
Rating: 4.5 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷 1/2 !!!!!!!
Book: My Darling
(AVAILABLE NOW-Release Date: August 24, 2020)
Author: Amanda Robson
Genre: Thrillers, Mystery, Suspense
Give me a C-R-A-Z-Y!!! This is the word that would describe ALL the characters in this book. Never have I ever read a book with so many juicy, conniving, deranged characters. I, also, have never read anything by Robson but after this one, I want to read anything her sick but oh so cunning and unpredictable brain can come up with!!
My Darling is about 2 couples who have a few encounters that make them suspicious of each other. Without giving too much away, these suspicions start to make the characters act irrationally and without regret. I cannot tell you enough how the amount of crazy was like a train wreck that you cannot turn away from. Reading the synopsis of this book does not allow you to peek at the wonderful storyline that you are in for. The audio version was read so well. I enjoyed Laura Costello’s voice! If you are looking for a quick, short chapter, intriguing, juicy book that will leave you shaking your head then this is the one.

This is a book that I did a read/listen to. I love audiobooks, but sometimes, I need to go back and doublecheck something I might have missed or gotten confused about, this was needed here. Once I figured out what was happening and who was who, this book gripped me. I didn't like any of the characters in this one, but I still connected in the sense that I wanted to see what was going to happen to them. There were so many twists, that I wasn't sure which way was up anymore. The two female leads were both devious and sure they were in the right. The men were puppets, through no fault of their own, but due to love. I do not want to spoil this read for anyone, so I do not want to tell you about the plot besides what is already in the blurb. I will caution you to make sure you pay attention when you are reading this one, because if not, you will have to go back like I did, it is that intricate. I did love this one, and am sure if you like a domestic or psychological thriller, you will too. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.
Ooooo I really liked this one!
Basically a new couple called Jade and Tomas moves next door to Emma, who lives by herself but is going out with a guy called Alastair.
Jade is kinda crazy 😂 and becomes obsessed with Emma and thinks she is wanting to take Alastair from her, Emma gets on with Jade to begins with but then sees she could be very dangerous, and backs away. Then the fun begins and ends up with a murder!
This is a slow burner but once it gets going it defo gets going, brilliant I loved it and can’t wait for more from the author.
EXCERPT: Jade: We move into our new house, Fairlawns. A large Victorian detached, near the river in Henley-on-Thames. Top end comfort. Top end price. Arriving in our Porsche, just as the removal men are entering the house with our walnut dining table, I look up and see a man and a woman standing at the side window of the house next door, staring down at us.
The woman is seriously tarty. Long blonde hair, bleached, not natural. Smelling of Botox. Not wearing very much clothing. Her short house coat does not leave much to the imagination. Very much your sort of thing, Tomas. Not a woman, but a stereotype. As I watch her looking down on us, I determine you will not get away with it again. Don't even try it, I tell you with my eyes.
ABOUT MY DARLING BY AMANDA ROBSON: A new couple moves in next door.
And nothing will ever be the same again…
I watched you move in and thought we might be friends.
I saw you watching from the window – and knew I’d have to keep you away from my husband.
I started to trust you. Confide in you.
I started to mistrust you. Suspect you.
I was confused when I blacked out after an evening at your place. Was I really that drunk?
I came up with a plan. A plan to make you both pay . . .
MY THOUGHTS: are liable to be quite incoherent. Firstly, when you plan on reading My Darling by Amanda Robson, don't plan on doing anything else until you have finished the book. It's that good. I only planned on reading a few pages before I went to sleep last night. I read the whole book. Couldn't put it down. Didn't even think about going to sleep.
Twisty doesn't even begin to describe the plot. It's like a corkscrew that has been tied in knots! Breathtaking. Heart pounding. Diabolically clever. Dark. Wicked. Absolutely sublime. There was barely a moment in which I was able to stop and draw a breath!
I loved the characters. I hated the characters. I loved to hate them. I admired their ingenuity. I admired Robson's ingenuity. I don't ever want to cross her. But I do want to read everything she has ever written, immediately.

Absolutely loved this one, seriously addictive reading.
A slow start, but once it gets going and the characters unravel it’s intriguing
Took me a little while to get into but once I did I just couldn't put it down. I love a book with some good twists and this one delivered! Just when I thought I had it figured out here came another! I loved it!
My Darling' is a powerful story where murder happens when you least expect it.
Jade and Tomas move in next door to Emma, who lives alone but is in a relationship with Alastair.
It soon becomes apparent that Jade is pathologically jealous of her husband Tomas and perhaps somewhat unhinged. Emma is initially friendly towards her new neighbour but realises she could be dangerous. The plot is complex and the reader is unsure what is true. A very clever story, quite a page turner.
Wow this gets your heart beating!! Great plot and nailbiting stuff. Well written and full of surprises. Highly recommended
I really enjoyed this thriller. At first I wasn't too sure on the abrupt, dark style of writing but as I got into it, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the story line and the depth to the characters. Good twists and fast paced. Will definitely be looking at more from this author.
Highly recommended.
Thank you Avon Books and Netgalley.
It's very hard to review this book without spoilers so beware!!!
This is a great book, a story told from 4 perspectives. Emma and her partner Alistair and Jade and her husband Tomas. Jade moves next door to Emma, the two couples strike up a friendship and the story begins.
I can't say anymore than that but rest assured, this is a great book, fast paced and full of twists and turns.
This was a fast-paced thriller that requires you suspend your disbelief a bit. It centers on 4 characters- Emma, Alastair, Jade, and Tomas. Jade and Tomas are a married couple who move in next door to Emma, who is in a relationship with Alastair, though he does not live with her. They meet for drinks but there is no basis for friendship based on that first experience, and things get worse when Jade becomes concerned that Emma is having an affair with Tomas.
The book alternates between all 4 POCs in the form of short chapters. This is a bit jarring at first, but I got used to the quick volleys as the book continued. My primary issue with this book is that none of these people are likable in any way- there was so much talk about how attractive people were and how they dressed and what they looked like that everyone came off as extremely superficial
I thought the story itself was fast-paced and I like books where people are diabolical, but (without giving any spoilers), some of the things that happen seem pretty unrealistic and you definitely have to suspend your disbelief a bit.
Overall, OK read- I liked the story despite the fact that it was a bit unrealistic but I really didn't like the characters. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I listened to this as an audiobook it took a while to get into but once I did I quite enjoyed the story. I was not overly impressed with the unlikely events. One thing I dislike in a story is this. I never realised women could be so. murderous
The plot was interesting enough but the characters had no depth and were not relatable so overall it felt like a superficial story that was hard to care about, just some curiousity about how it would end
I really struggled with this book. Such short chapters and it chopped and changed all the time. Didn’t particularly like any of the characters either. Not for me. Sorry
