I like all of Amanda's books. They are always about lying, cheating, murder. Fun books to read and this one did not disappoint.
This is my second read of Amada Robson and, for me, did not live up to the previous novel, ‘Guilt’, which I found exceptional.
This is the story of two couple who live next door to each other. Tomas and jade move in to a new home and are watched by Alastair and Emma as they move in. there are several twists and turns as Jade believes Tomas is fond of Emma, who is a dentist. Tomas has problems with his teeth.
It is a bit of a roller coaster ride but I struggled with the format and flitting between narrators, sometimes mid-paragraph. Having said that it is sinister and clever in many ways.
Thank you to NetGalley, Pan MacMillan, and Amanda Robson for the ARC of ‘My Darling’ in return for my honest review.
Recommended.
Excellent book! It really kept me guessing....I really thought I knew, then the next chapter I was shocked, again!
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.
My Darling - Amanda Robson

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Amanda Robson, and to be given the chance to review this before release by @netgalley I was absolutely buzzing!
This book did not disappoint! I love the short chapters in Amanda Robson's books and I really enjoy jumping from one character to another - keeps it fresh and interesting all the time!
A new couple moves in next door.
And nothing will ever be the same again…
2 couples, 4 people, and how the lives of these 4 dysfunctional characters end up filled with paranoia, murder, anger and pure obsession - I seriously couldn't put this book down! It left me sat in the edge of my seat needing to know what happened next.. and will keep you guessing to the very end!
This book covers some sensitive topics including domestic abuse, but was covered extremely well in my opinion, and left my heart breaking for one or the main character at times! I also loved reading this book and finding out a bit more of the process that goes into a murder investigation and the processes that takea place when analysing evidence and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.
If you want a book that takes your breath away, which is fast paced and leaves you not wanting but needing to know what happens next then this book is for you! Absolutely loved it!
Abusive and philandering men best beware because Emma and Jade are two bad ass biatches with revenge on their minds!
Emma is a successful, independent and beautiful woman with a dark history of abuse from the men in her life. Jade is a strong, stoic and paranoid woman who has a husband she suspects of serial cheating. These are two women who have had enough and are ready to take matters into their own hands. But men aren't the only ones in danger because one of them has her sights on the other woman.
I was glued to the pages of this one and finished reading it in one sitting. It was a wickedly delicious and wild ride into the minds of two crazy women hellbent on destruction, and I loved every minute of it!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Wow! Such a dark, twisted read that had my jaw dropping quite a bit from all the surprises! Fast reading and highly addictive.
Clever And Sinister
New neighbors Jade and Tomas move in next door to lovely Emma who is a dentist and values her free time and privacy. Jade invites Emma and her boyfriend Alastair over for neighborly drinks and immediately tells Emma know Tomas has a wandering eye. Why? Emma and Alastair are put off by this remark and are unsure what to make of it. Tomas is a very handsome man and Jade is rather masculine in her appearance but "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" so that is their business. Emma couldn't be more wrong. That visit and those strange words from Jade would set up this foursome on a nightmare of a ride into evil with danger and possible death encompassing almost everyone who comes into their path. Sometimes getting to know your neighbors can be a very very bad thing for you and for them.
What a wild rollercoaster ride this book was. The storyline and pacing were superb! All the characters were intense and interesting with many secrets in their backgrounds even though for me they were all unlikeable but that made the story even more fun (imo). This was my first book by Amanda Robson but certainly not my last. I will look forward to reading more of her clever plots and writing. I highly recommend this mystery to all readers who enjoy a dark, devious and tantalizing story.
I want to thank the publisher "Avon Books UK" and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this novel and any thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone!
I have give this book a rating of 4 Very Sinister ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars!!
This was definitely my cup of tea, if I could have stopped everything and just read until the last page I would have !!
Jade and Tomas have just moved into their new home. Their next door neighbour, Emma, is a stunning Dentist and Jade soon realises Emma is just Tomas’ type.
Emma is in a new relationship with Alistair, who she has recently met via Tinder. She has no interest in Tomas, but soon Jade is convinced they are having an affair. Emma has assured her she has only seen Tomas due to his severe toothache but Jade doesn’t believe her.
What follows is a fast paced twisty game of crazy !! Two forensic scientists trying to put wit each other, a lady with severe paranoia and so much more. The story is told via Jade, Emma and Alistair and we really gat an insight into how and what they are thinking !! If you are after a fast paced book that will keep you hooked throughout then this is definitely the book for you. A real crazy plot !!
Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for a digital copy of this book.
I always like it when new neighbors come in. But if I have neighbors like Tomas, Alastair and especially Jade and Emma... I would think twice.
This is my first Amanda Robson novel and to be completely honest it was a good story! It was very fast paced despite having many chapters! I was at the table of contents and at first i was like “ahhh man! a slow burn” but I was suprised how fast it was. It was quite confusing at times because chapters were short and was told in 3 POVs but for me, it worked.
The title drags the readers to ‘obsession’ and it played a key role to everyone’s lives in the novel. Will I read more Amanda Robson novels? Absolutely! I love how the author really walks us how forensic proceedings go through. The author really researched!
I was hooked to this novel because BA Paris’ recommendation was at the cover.
Thank you NetGalley, HarperCollins and Avon UK for the ARC!
(Belated) Happy Publication Day to Miss Amanda Robson too!
I saw one reviewer had said that this was the fastest they had read a book as they couldn’t put it down. I have to agree. It was partly the plot, partly the structure of the short chapters and the way the plot flowed but I too found it impossible to put down. It was gripping, thrilling and compelling with some great twists. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books and the author for the chance to review.
This is the first book I have read by Amanda Robson but it definitely won't be the last!
I raced through this book as I just could not put it down, it gripped me from page one and didn't let go until the end. Yes some of it is a bit far fetched but it is fiction after all and I absolutely loved it!
I liked the layout, the short chapters, the narrators and the back story of Emma. It is a tense, crazy ride with well drawn characters and a twisty and compulsive plot.
Recommended for lovers of dark twisty domestic thrillers.
3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️. This is the first time I’m really struggling with writing a review. I didn’t hate this one but it’s definitely not one that will stick with me. Let me start with what I liked: the short chapters switching between the characters...it was a quick and easy read (finished it in 2 days). Now what I didn’t like: the characters (they were all a little too crazy), the storyline (over the top, unrealistic, just too much going on), the ending (nothing “wow” about it). Overall this book seemed predictable to me about 1/3 of the way through. If you already have a copy, go ahead and read it...but if you don’t have one, I wouldn’t rush out to buy it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

So twisty and good. Dark and taunt. It'll keep you up way past your bedtime. Engrossing. You won't want to put it down and who could blame you? Pick up this winner a book. Happy reading!
A tornado of... No
A hurricane of...No
A TSUNAMI OF CRAZY...YES
Jade, Emma and Alastair: A trio of main characters in this wave of insanity that never stops, beginning to end.
We have two main couples, Jade & Tomas, Emma & Alastair. The former has just moved in, next door to Emma. Jade has severe mental health issues that include a large helping of paranoia and a massive side dish of delusions. Emma values her work above all and includes Alastair only on her weekends. Alastair is divorced with a child, he has full custody. He and child both live with his mother. His ex-wife tells everyone he has a bad side. As if the foundation wasn't rocky already, then we have a death, a murder more precisely. You know who did it, but you don't know who will take the rap for it.
This book is told directly from each of the three main characters point of view. Nothing is a secret to the reader except for how the insanity will play out. Just when one crazy seems to be on top, another crazy out does themselves.
Initially it feels like a very "choppy" read. The chapters are quick, some only a paragraph long and each one alternating POV. This makes it harder to engage, but the level of craziness in the plot is heightened with every chapter. You can't help but read on to see just how high the author can go.
A few days after reading I still find my thoughts coming back to the book. Mainly the same thought over and over..."damn, that sh*t was crazy".
*Thank you to Avon Books UK via NetGalley for providing the digital review copy.
I rolled my eyes so hard reading this, that they almost fell out and rolled off down the road!
I think it's safe to say that I really didn't enjoy this! A combination of unlikeable characters, weird 2nd person narration, jarring pov changes mid paragraph, and wildy unbelievable plot twists!
I felt no connection to any of the characters, and didn't really care what happened to them beyond the first 30%, which was a shame, as the start of the book was quite good! Then it was just one silly twist after another in my opinion.
Most reviews are positive, and this seems very highly rated though, so maybe give it a shot if the blurb sounds like your kind of thing?!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon books UK for my digital ARC, in exchange for an honest opinion. I'm sorry that this wasn't a better fit!
Emma is a dentist who has moved into a new home. Her boyfriend, Alistair, stays with her many nights. His ex-wife, Heather, left him and their young son, but he gave her half of everything anyway. However, she constantly wants more money.
Next door to Emma is Jade and Tomas. They are welcoming when Emma and Alistair move in and invite them to dinner. Jade warns Emma that Tomas has a roving eye.
Alistair loves Emma and is proud of her. They try to avoid Jade because she is grating and appears to be paranoid. But, when Tomas is found murdered, it’s shocking who is blamed.
This book pulls the reader in like a fish on a line. I could not stop reading it. Rather like a tennis match. Back and forth to see who has the upper hand this time. I loved it and highly recommend it for those of you who like a good whodunnit. Well done. Just remember: Don’t try to outfox the fox.

I was given an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest and independent review.
Skilfully constructed, this was a fast paced, thrilling read with lots of twists and turns.
Excellent and very detailed characters.
This was the second book I have read by this talented author.
Jade and Thomas Covington move into their new home and meet their new neighbours Emma and Alistair. Jade thinks her husband is having an affair with Emma. In a fit of rage, Jade murders him. Jade, Emma and Alistair all try and fit each other up as being the murderer.
This is a quick and easy to book to read. It's filled with despicable characters. The story is told from Jade, Emma and Alistair'd points of view. They are all unreliable narrators. There's plenty of twists and the suspense builds throughout. There are parts that are unbelievable. There's quite a lot packed into the short snappy chapters. There's also a back story told inbetween these chapters. The pace flows along smoothly. I really quite enjoyed this book.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author Amanda Robson for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I watched you move in next door and thought we might be friends.
I saw you watching from the window – and knew I’d have to keep you well away from my husband.
I started to trust you. Confide in you.
I started to mistrust you. Suspect you.
I was confused when I blacked out after an evening at your place. Was I really that drunk?
I came up with a plan. A plan to make you both pay . .
With that kind of a blurb who will not instantly be intrigued? I definitely was. I love thrillers and this seemed right up my alley. And I was right!
The characters in the book are strange and by strange I mean good strange. I don't want to reveal too much but suffice it to say that there are two couples in the story, there is lots of paranoia, delusion, intrigue, lies, secrets and of course murder!
The twists and turns make this twisty novel a compelling read.
Definitely recommend this book for all thriller lovers.
The Bible tells us to love our neighbours, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people.”
― G.K. Chesterton
And in the case of ‘My Darling’, that’s probably very true! When Tomas and Jade move next door to dentist Emma, she’ll find that life in her much loved upmarket neighbourhood, will never be the same again. Jade turns out to be the neighbour from hell - not someone you want to upset, she’s very dangerous, the problem is, Jade is very easily upset, whether it’s justified or not!
We’re well aware of Jade’s personality from the off - she’s a woman who believes that her husband Tomas fancies every woman he comes into contact with, and that makes the attractive Emma an enemy right from the start, but what about all the other characters, because there’s also Alastair, Emma’s boyfriend, what do we know about them? We’re about to find out in this gripping storyline!
Just how well do we really know anyone - how do we know what goes on in the deep and murky depths of a person’s mind?
Goodness me, what a crazy, gripping twisty storyline this is. None of the characters are particularly likeable, (apart from Tomas) but make no mistake, it makes for a compulsive read. You might have to suspend disbelief at times, but it’s worth it. Very enjoyable!
