Sandy Barker's *The Christmas Swap* is a delightful holiday read that will warm your heart and leave you with a smile on your face. This charming novel follows three lifelong friends—Chloe, Jules, and Lucy—who decide to shake things up for Christmas by swapping homes and experiencing the holidays in completely different environments. The idea of home-swapping for Christmas is unique and instantly intriguing, setting the stage for a fun and festive adventure filled with humor and heartwarming moments.
Chloe, Jules, and Lucy are relatable and well-developed characters, each facing her own challenges and insecurities. Their journeys of self-discovery throughout the novel are both engaging and inspiring.
Barker vividly depicts each location, from a cozy English village to the snowy landscapes of Colorado and the sunny beaches of Melbourne. The descriptions truly transport you to each destination, enhancing the overall festive atmosphere.
Throughout their Christmas swap, each woman encounters a potential love interest, injecting a touch of romance into the story. These romantic storylines are sweet and satisfying without overshadowing the themes of friendship and self-discovery.

This book is ideal for fans of feel-good holiday reads, those who enjoy stories about friendship and self-discovery, and readers looking for a lighthearted and entertaining escape.
Overall, *The Christmas Swap* is a heartwarming and enjoyable read, perfect for curling up with on a cold winter's night. It serves as a reminder of the importance of friendship, family, and the magic of the Christmas season.
This book was so problematic talking about diet culture
It made me so angry and I stopped reading it
Beautifully uplifting and charming story about Jules, Chloe and Lucy. Whilst they didn’t all do something I’d personally pick for an ideal Christmas it was lovely to see them all be in their element and find some
romance. As a lover of steamy romance this was a tad on the tame side for me but enjoyable nonetheless!
The Christmas Swap is an irresistible holiday story that brings together three friends who decide to give the ultimate present - to switch homes for the holidays! Each woman gets to experience a different location, full of wonderful new adventures and romance. From England to Colorado to Australia, each place provides the backdrop to their holiday journey.
The characters are diverse and intriguing, with different personalities and goals, but they have one thing in common - they all desire to have their Christmas wishes come true. Sandy Barker’s writing is beautiful and magical. The setting descriptions are vivid, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. Fans of holiday romances and feel-good fiction will not be disappointed. The Christmas Swap is a heartwarming story about friendship and love, proving that the greatest gifts come from the heart.
Ohhh I loved Chloe, Jules and Lucy! They decide to swap homes for the holidays, and each go on their own adventure in a place unlike home. As a reader, I needed a while to remember who is who: Where does “she” come from and where did she travel to? Who are the people she is surrounded with now and who are they usually friends with? Even during the beginning, when I sometimes lost track, I got attached to the characters. This proceeded throughout the entire book.
I love to see how different groups of people celebrate Christmas in different parts of the world. All the people getting together, facing common family-and-travel issues really got me into a holiday mood!
The right portion of romance clearly helped. And since it is a Christmas book, some instant attraction is not a minus for me. 😉
The Christmas Swap is a feel-good holiday novel that I can only recommend.
Tried reading this one and it just was not meant for me. This does not mean that it is not a good book, I just was not in the right place to be reading it and have decided to not try picking it up anytime in the near future - the blurb of this one and the first chapters were interesting and I MIGHT pick this one up near the holiday season again to get in the holiday spirit and will adjust my review accordingly. However, at this time I am putting this as a DNF.
A well written, warm and fuzzy Christmas read which is full of uplifting and heartwarming fun!
It was a little far fetched at times, but I loved the three main characters and their individual characters really brought it to life.
From the first page I was hooked. I love all the characters, the friendship is amazing and the whole story is so heartwarming and it made me feel so cozy. It's the perfect book for Christmas!
Great lighthearted Christmas read. The main characters were all very likeable and I loved the difference locations for Christmas from snowy mountains to sunny beaches to a quiet Oxfordshire village. Plenty of humour and a good storyline made this a lovely Christmas read
This was a brilliant read and is being featured on my blog for my quick star reviews feature, which I have created on my blog so I can catch up with all the books I have read and therefore review.

My last holiday read of 2021 is The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker - and what a great way to end the Christmas season! A little friendship, a little romance, and a whole lot of Christmas around the world!
I don't know about you, but I don't think I would be brave enough to travel the world alone, much less spend Christmas with one of my friend's family without them. That would take a lot of guts - this makes me thankful for stories like these! I can live vicariously without ever having to leave the comfort of my house.
This was such a fun read! I enjoyed reading about how Christmas can be in the super snowy landscapes, when it's summer-like weather and when it's cold and rainy. I loved how realistic the friendships were as well. Not everything is always rainbows and butterflies, and this story highlighted both the highs and lows of where friendships can take you when you mix a little bit of family in.
I adored The Christmas Swap. The characters are all fabulous and wonderfully written. The storyline was entertaining! I loved the friendships so, so much!
Huge thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for my gifted ecopy!
Overall I enjoyed this book. I liked the three main characters: Chloe, Lucy and Jules and had fun sharing their adventures with them. Although sometimes I struggled to believe they were in their early 30s. I am a fan of The Holiday film and this book definitely had those vibes. I found myself wondering who I would like to swap with and where I would go if given the chance. The book is written with each of the friends having their own chapters and this really helped gain a true picture of the characters and their individual stories.
At times the plot was a little predictable and I personally felt the romances were a bit far fetched. I would have liked a little bit more on Christmas Day and further exploration of each countries traditions but overall a good festive read.
The Christmas Swap by Sandy Barker is a feel good rom com that has the potential to be a Hallmark movie. Lucy, Chloe and Jules met on vacation as children, swore to be BFFs, and actually remained good friends through the years. They each live in very different corners of the world - Colorado, Australia, and England. Needing a change they decide to swap Christmases very similar to The Holiday.
It was a delight to experience the Christmas traditions of each location and family through the eyes of Chloe, Jules, and Lucy. From a small village Christmas fair in Oxfordshire to skiing in Colorado and visiting the warm beaches of Australia, the book was a fun Christmas romp. Of course, there is a love interest at each location with the expected angst and uncertainty. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.). Overall an enjoyable read, especially for the holidays.
Hank you to the publisher for my eARC copy of this book. This was a sweet and easy read that made me feel festive and warm inside.
The Christmas Swap was the most darling book to read for the holidays! 3 friends who live in different parts of the country decide they was to switch things up for Christmas. They all trade towns to go on vacation and stay with their friends’ families. Such an adorable, feel good book that could easily be turned into a fantastic Christmas movie!!
Cute, funny, engaging, light, fluffy - everything you want an escapist chick-lit story to be. I had a really nice time with this one (read a lot like the movie The Holiday) - good one to sit down with on an empty afternoon where you just want a good time and lose yourself in an uncomplicated yet satisfactory story
I finished this book the other day and I must say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would of!
The first 20% I got so confused who was who and where the way spending Christmas/ where they were from but in the end I managed it - I was considering writing myself some notes.
This would be a great hallmark movie, and I’m still debating which of the countries I’d like spend Christmas: snowy Colorado or sunny Australia. Defo not the England one!
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
If you are looking for a feel good festive romance, then this is the book for you. There are certain times where you just need an easy to read hallmark like book and this was it for me. Chloe, Lucy and Jules are longtime friends who originally met when they were on vacation with their families at 11. They have continued to stay in touch over the years, but this year they all thought they would switch things up and change locations for the holidays. This story follows each of the three girls navigating a new location, falling in love, and just having a great time. I really reccommend this one.
