When Carrie started off this book reading self-help books I was immediately concerned. I instantly perceived that this book would be about a main character that is hopelessly lost and cannot even begin to find themselves. I am pleased that is not how the story actually went. Although Carrie struggles with knowing what to do with her life, it's relatable. She loves nannying but also working Monday-Friday has its perks.
Carrie notices Adam is attractive but I don't feel like it crosses a weird he's my employer line. Adam's hard shell that slowly diminished over this book had my heart so happy. The moment when Adam realized his kids moments matter while he was forced to paint his hands for a craft project, completely had me tearing up.
It was sweet, closed door romance. That also not only showed the magic of Christmas but also how important family is and being present with your kids. I think the biggest take home lesson that Carrie teaches the readers is that kids do notice when you choose work over them constantly and it does effect them. Overall, I loved this book that gave complete Hallmark vibes.
Thank you Netgalley for the copy for review.
A Christmas to Remember by Jenny Hale is a standalone contemporary romance novel. This one of course is set during the Christmas season and the days leading up to the holiday as the title indicates.
Carrie Blake loves children and she loves her job as a nanny but as time has gone by Carrie has realized that her job is holding her back from a family of her own. Vowing to finish this one last nanny job Carrie is planning a change in her life.
Carrie finds herself working for single dad Adam Fletcher during this Christmas season and what Carrie notices is Adam needs a refresher on family time. Sure his children are being well cared for but they need daddy time but the more time Carrie spends with Adam’s family the more she finds herself falling for him.
I have read several books by author Jenny Hale in the past so I already suspected going into this one that I would enjoy it. Of course the author was the main attraction for me but I immediately enjoyed Carrie and thought well that makes sense we share the same name! But of course the best part of the novel was showing the family togetherness and bringing the season to life. Definitely a nice tale for the season.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
This was a cute story about the importance of making time for your kids. Making time and memories is the main basis of this story. Pretty cute, but a little boring and repetitive.
A Christmas to Remember was a fun festive read. Jenny Hale always puts me in the holiday spirit. Perfect for anyone looking for those cozy Christmas vibes. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This is a super fun read. I really enjoyed this one!
Many thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
I love holiday stories. When I think of romance, I think of books just like this one, that gives all the feels and satisfies every romance junkies' heart. This is a perfect books to snuggle up with on any day.
Carrie wants to give up her beloved profession as a nanny so that she can find love, have children and settle down for a happily ever after, but first she has one last job as a nanny before she calls it a day. She will be a nanny for a single dad (Adam) with two children. Two adorable children with a father who is so busy that he has no connection with them which does not bode well with Carrie.
Can Carrie find what she is looking for? Will Adam ever wake up and realize that working to provide for his children is not enough and that there is more to life? Read this wonderfully sweet Christmas story and find out.
You will laugh and you will be pulled into the story very quickly. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I went hard for the holiday reads this year, and I have no regrets.
Having read a few Jenny Hale titles in the past, I was excited to be able to read this one thanks to NetGalley + Forever Publishing.
For me, any holiday reads review is all about the warm fuzzy feelings & getting me in the mood & this one definitely had a lot of potential with a focus on bringing together family but I just had a hard time with Carrie’s character at times. I wish we had had a dual POV to see Adam’s side of the story to really round out the feelings to add to the story.
I enjoyed the premise of this one, and am glad I got to read it during this holiday season 3.5 stars from me.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for gifting me this ebook.
I am sad to say that this book just wasn’t for me.
As much as I am starting to love Christmas stories this one just didn’t do it for me.
This book maybe the perfect Christmas book for you. So I am still recommending this book to anyone who likes a good Christmas story.
It's the season for all the cozy holiday reads, and this one was perfect for it! This book was so sweet and it had it all. It had family time, love, and all things Christmas. I loved all the characters in this book, they were all so great. I became invested in them and their lives. This book will totally get you in the mood for Christmas! I highly recommend it!
I was obviously very into this one reading it in one night 🤣. I just had to know what happened!!! Granted I'm surprised Carrie didn't loose her job for the way she talked to her boss but honestly I don't blame her for telling him how it is. I get there are people with very important jobs but children need to be shown they are loved and cared about. It was hard to first read the beginning knowing the dad never showed any affection towards his twins. Having a dad who has done the same....yes it hurts you. I'm glad he came to his senses. I love his family and how they included the nanny in everything like she was family.
Thank you netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!
Last year, I read my first Jenny Hale holiday book, but it was not going to be my last. When I saw A Christmas To Remember on Netgalley, I absolutely had to read it. I knew it would hit the spot when I wanted to read a sweet, gentle Christmas romance. My instincts were completely correct.
Carrie Blake loves her job as a nanny. However, she’s ready to make some moves and take her career in a different direction. Before this can happy, she has one last nanny assignment. She will be working for single dad Adam Fletcher, caring for his twin four year olds – Olivia and David. Carrie wants to make this the perfect holiday for the Fletcher family. She makes it her mission to show Adam how important it is to be active and present for his children – especially during Christmas. Of course, Carrie starts to really fall for Adam and his family.
Obviously, I loved A Christmas To Remember. Jenny Hale’s books really do the whole one sitting thing to me. I sit down, start to read, and don’t get up until I am finished. This book did not stress me out once. I fell in love with all of the characters. Probably the best piece for me was when Adam’s family came up to visit him from North Carolina. They’re good down home people and I loved seeing their interactions with Carrie.
ON A SCALE OF ONE TO BUDDY THE ELF, HOW MUCH CHRISTMAS SPIRIT DOES A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER HAVE?
100% A Christmas To Remember put me in a wonderful holiday spirit mood. There’s the traditional cutting of the Christmas tree. There’s decorating. Let’s not forget shopping, Santa, and a holiday party. Plus, on a less superficial level, we see the true spirit of Christmas. There’s an appreciation of family and love. I think this book is so sweet and sincere. And well, I am finding that I am a truly converted Jenny Hale fan and plan to read ALL her books at some point.
A Christmas to Remember is my favorite Jenny Hale book so far.
It had plenty of Christmas magic, a wonderful family, adorable kids, and a man learning to love again. It is a really wonderful story of Carrie and Adam, and their journey together to discover what family means. I loved the ending because it was so realistic and appropriate. It made me really feel happy.
DNF at 49% - the premise was great and this book had a ton of potential but I just couldn’t connect with the characters at all, and something about the writing structure really put me off. Things moved too slowly, or had too much complaining, or something.
Well, this book was just a delight! I have never read a book from Jenny Hale before but now I am a fan! This was everything you want in a Christmas story. It had the magic of being a child at Christmas, the love of family and of course, a little holiday romance! It was a really sweet story.
The main character, Carrie, was a nanny and she took on a job with the Fletcher family. She also decided that this would be her last job, ready to set her sights on something different. She meets Adam Fletcher, the Father of the four year old twins she will be looking after. He is a workaholic with no Christmas spirit who seems to have sacrificed his relationships with his family and children for his job. Carrie decides that while caring for his children, she is going to help me be the father she knows he can be. Reading and following Adam's journey was really heartwarming. The romance that grew between him and Carrie was really well done. I liked that family was at the heart of this story! A great book for the holiday season!
I really had a hard time getting through this. I just didn't find it very entertaining. The winter vibes were cute but overall it fell a bit flat for me,
Thank you to the publisher and author for providing me with a digital ARC of this title via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I love a good holiday book and was excited to see several available on Netgalley. I thought this cover was pretty and the storyline sounded familiar but enjoyable. As I started reading, I found it be a lot like another christmas book I read a few years ago and wondered if the authors were aware of each other. I got a couple chapters in before the similarities became too numerous and I ran to goodreads to compare. Turns out I did read this title before, just under a different cover and edition. I remember it being a nice little Christmas romance.
I tried y’all. I really, really tried.
.
This was not the Christmas book for me. I did learn a few things as a reader though....so let’s talk about that ok?
.
I need two perspectives. One is not sufficient for this story.
.
I need to know both stories before becoming invested. 50% in is too far without full back story. Or (as previously discussed a second perspective)
.
I need a little less judgement for a single dad around Christmas time....especially if I don’t know his thoughts.
.
Full disclosure. I did not finish this story. I just couldn’t. I became less and less interested as the story moved on.
.
I am unable to recommend this title.
In my book, Jenny Hale can do no wrong. I lucked out with this gifted copy!
Carrie Blake is the perfect nanny. (I'd hire her to watch my son!) Agreeing to take on one last job before finally settling down, Carrie has no idea what she's in for when she meets Adam Fletcher. A single dad, Adam may be wildly handsome and well off, but, he is lacking in the fatherhood department.
Can Carrie make this nannying job her best (and last) one yet? Sprinkle in the right amount of romance and Christmas cheer, make sure you add "A Christmas to Remember" to you TBR list. It's a great one!

Carrie is a nanny who absolutely loves her job but is at a point of her life she where she is looking for more out of her life like maybe even having a family herself rather then just take care of one. Now she's working on her more challenging job working for a workaholic who needs someone to care for his kids while he works and its during the holiday time.
I love how much Carrie cared for others. It clearly showed she loved her job and her seeing Adam's relationship with his children really was a cold one. She did everything she could slowly but surly to get Adam to open up to those around him, to slow down with work and actually be there for his children. There was plenty holiday scenes and sweet moments. I loved that everything that went on in the romance department wasn't rushed and this book was clean. If you are looking for a sweet book to get you into the holiday spirit you really should check out this book.
