I got this to share with my husband. I personally did not have a good relationship with my father. We were not close due to his behaviors and choices. He has since passed away. Our daughters are 27 & 20 and I’ve seen them go from devoted to dad to growing further and further apart little by little...
I read through this book and believe this can help get things back on track. I’m looking forward to seeing their relationships begin to deepen again!
Our girl just turned 10 this month. She is growing and changing so fast. We have been reading several books through her little life. This one is a great tool I think. If you have girls you can remember I talked about this book before where Doctor Meg Meeker talk about the importance for young girls to grow as secure, balanced and strong women and specifies the importance of the father to get involved. After understanding the importance of this relationship, you need to know how should I do it? This book offers practical ideas and topics to get to know your girl. It doesn´t matter if you just know about this, you need to do it. I wish someone would give this book to my father when I was little, probably we would have talked more. It is the first book I read from Michelle Watson Canfield. Must confess I thought: She has a PhD, I guess I know what is she talking about.
I wish all men knew this (not just dads). "Girls and women process by talking. So you´re giving your daughter an extraordinary gift when you invest your time and attention in listening to her". pk 1937. In the book you will find great questions about personality, self-esteem, body image, clothing choices, romance and royalty, closing the dream gap, becoming a world changer, volunteering, finding her voice, standing up, conquering her fears, depression anxiety, substance use, spirituality, boundaries with smartphone, guys and dating, bullying and cyberbullying, eating disorders, cutting, making amends, romantic history, how you relate to God and much more.... I really liked the deep question, it is not a silly book with dumb and shallow questions, you can go as deep as you want. Lovely memories and bounds will be made if they really connect, this is a great tool.
