It's been 10 years since Sadie's best friend died, spending those years trying to forget. But now, unemployed, she finds herself back in her small Connecticut hometown, living with Fiona's mother.

But when local swimming prodigy Devon Huntley is reported missing, Sadie's past - along with all of her secrets - come back to haunt her.

A brilliant story, with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing right to the very end.

4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Special thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a slow and steady read, keeping you entertained until the end, and never letting you go. I enjoyed the book and will read more by Ms Amarti in future. Recommended.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the opportunity to read this book and provide an honest review. Funny enough, I liked the cover and the synopsis so much, I ended up buying the book when on sale prior to reading the arc copy. But I'm not at all disappointed. This was very well written with a lot of twists and turns. The characters themselves, I wasn't terribly invested in them but it wasn't as bad as some others I've read. Overall, like I mentioned, I don't regret purchasing the book and enjoyed the story and where it took me.

This book was well written and the plot was good. The suspense starts early and maintains a great pace all the way through. Its full of tension , suspense and twists. I found Sadie a bit hard to connect to. It did get complicated in some parts. I wouldnt say I disliked this book but I just didnt love it.

Sadie is having a rough patch. She was suddenly let go from her job and has to return home. Home to a place that holds as many demons as memories.

Everything changes when a former pupil goes missing. The school is now under scrutiny and is hoping to contain the volatile situation before losing more if its students and their tuition money. It's up to Sadie to help the students and to also keep her mouth shut about the secrets and demons that lie around the campus.

An engaging and thrilling story. Filled with secrets and deceptions that run deep. One lost girl brings forward years deception that have long since lied buried deep beneath the surface.

A wonderful mystery about a young lady teaching in the school she once attended. It is ten years later and history has repeated itself. A constant whirlwind of twists and turns and lots of mystery. Just shows that rich girls have always been mean to the girls that are on scholarship and they still are mean. Only difference is the missing girl this time is rich. Who will solve this mystery? A good old fashioned who done it with a twist. I couldn't put it down. A 5 Star read.

*I received a copy of The Silent Daughter through #netgalley in return for my review.

Sadie Kelly was a teacher at the exclusive Horton School until she was asked to leave. She sees a news flash of a missing girl named Devon, and realizes she was her student at Horton. Sadie is surprised to receive an offer to return to the school, and decides to say yes. Immediately, strange things begin to happen... and memories from her past start to come back to her. Years ago, Sadie was a student at Horton as well.

I really enjoyed this book. There are many subplots going on, and the author does a good job keeping the suspense going.

First, I want to thank Claire Amarti, XpressoBookTours, and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

WOW!!! You must read Claire Amarti’s The Silent Daughter!! It had everything that I crave in a psychological thriller! A missing person, oh so many juicy secrets, a taboo affair, stalking, so many twists, turns, and oh so much drama!

For being the first time reading Claire’s work I am an instant fan!! I was drawn to her main storyline however the sideline storylines were just as intense if not more! Claire has a way of building up the story so you don’t really know the full personality of any of the characters. It is not til the end where she literally blows your mind and all the secrets are exposed.

Claire deals with very important topics like missing persons, alcoholism, sexual abuse, stalking, infidelity, etc.

The Silent daughter by Claire Amarti.
Schoolgirl missing', the ticker reads, and the camera cuts to a girl's face. Blonde hair waterfalling over her shoulders, serious eyes, lips a little parted like she's about to speak. That's when I realize I've been holding my breath, because the gasp when I inhale almost chokes me.
A very good read. Good story and some good characters. 4*.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but definitely won’t be the last. I enjoyed the way we gradually got to know Sadie, and all of her dimensions. The boarding school setting is the perfect place for mystery and intrigue. The story skillfully unravels to reveal many secrets and surprises.

Rarely have I read a book that genuinely surprised me — when I didn’t have a CLUE about what was going on and who the villain (bad guy/woman) was.
The Silent Daughter is that type of book! Usually, by the time I’m several chapters in, certainly less than halfway, I’ve got some things sorted out. I have some notion of the plot direction. I had NOTHING with this book — not a hint! And for me, that’s a big deal! I felt as though I were looking through a window at all of the characters, knowing them, feeling their feelings or lack thereof, shadowing their movements. I had no clue; so impressed!
I’m thrilled to have been granted this book to read in exchange for my honest review, and I’m more thrilled to give it 5 stars! I truly wish I could give it more!

I know your secret.

Sadie Kelly is asked to come back to work at Holton College, which is like a boarding school, for just high school girls. This is the same school she attended years ago with her best friend Fiona, who had passed away when she was a teen. But this time Sadie coming back gives her a different feel, a girl goes missing fitting almost the same description as her late best friend.

I was all over the place with this read, Sadie hearing voices, footsteps, her coworkers acting a little funny, things happening in her room at the school, or at Jan’s (Fionas mother) house. Every page turned, shocked me, I am not even going to lie. And like Sadie says in the book, everyone has secrets! And I seriously finished the book in one sitting I couldn’t get enough, one thing is for sure, this book is described as an emotional suspense, and I couldn’t have worded it even better.

Thank you so much NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this binge worthy read!
