this is the first book I read in this series and I'm hooked.
It's a highly enjoyable and engrossing read with a great cast of characters and a solid mystery that kept me guessing.
I can't wait to read the next instalment, this one is highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Fashionista Kelly has moved back to the small town she grew up in to run her mother’s vintage clothing store after losing her high-powered New York job. Short on money, when she finds a lost dog with a reward of $5,000, she thinks it’s her lucky day. Until she discovers the dog’s owner stabbed to death.

For a cozy mystery, this isn’t much of a mystery. The guilty party is pretty much the most obvious suspect from the beginning, and though the author tries valiantly to throw in a few red herrings, nobody seems to have any motive. And honestly, for a fashionista, Kelly doesn’t seem to have much clue about fashion, particularly the vintage fashion which is supposed to be her passion… I think one brand was namechecked on a pair of boots. If you’re going to write a fashionista story, actually put some focus on the clothes - a ‘chunky navy sweater and a puffer vest with skinny jeans’ sounds like something I, an absolute scruff, would wear, not a former New York fashion buyer!

Oh, and the thing you shouldn’t wear to a graveyard? Spike-heeled boots, as you’re likely to trip in soft earth and almost brain yourself on a headstone. Which should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. You’d think. The scene made Kelly come off as a brainless ditz more concerned about how she looked than common sense, which played into a few too many negative stereotypes for me.

This really didn’t cut it for me. A lot of things were rushed over and there was very little character development. Two stars.

3 stars-- WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO A GRAVEYARD by Debra Sennefelder is a contemporary, adult, cozy mystery novella in the author’s Resale Boutique series focusing on resale queen Kelly Quinn.

Told from third person perspective WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO A GRAVEYARD follows resale queen Kelly Quinn as she begins an investigation of her own into the recent murder of fashionista Constance Lane. A reward for a missing dog sent Kelly Quinn on the hunt but our heroine never expected to find a body in an old abandoned farmhouse, a farmhouse Kelly frequented, foraging for vintage clothing. The recently deceased was none other than Constance Lane, and any number of suspects soon crossed paths with our story line heroine. As Kelly begins digging into the who, how and why, our heroine finds herself the victim of a Halloween prank, a prank wherein Kelly’s life is threatened if she doesn’t stop snooping where she doesn’t belong.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO A GRAVEYARD is a quick read; a Halloween whodunit wherein Kelly Quinn, once again, finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation when she can’t leave well enough alone. A cute but predictable novella with a nosy heroine who just can’t stop herself from getting involved.

A quick and easy to read novella-sized cozy mystery. It's interesting and fast-paced, and you don't lose any of the story by it being less than 100 pages.
The characters are great and the mystery kept me guessing.

This is book 2 in the series, but I feel it stands-alone with no problem. I truly enjoyed it.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

This book is quick paced, entertaining and enjoyable. This is a great cosy mystery series. The characters are very enjoyable. I highly recommend this series to anyone and everyone. I can not wait to read more books by this author in the future. Her writing style is great. This ebook is in stores now for $2.99 (USD).

‘What Not to Wear to a Graveyard‘ is a novella in the ‘Resale Boutique Mystery‘ series. I haven’t read the previous stories (although they are now on my TBR list of stories to read) and I wasn’t the least bit lost since anything I needed to know was found in the narrative or the dialogue.

When Kelly finds the lost dog who has a handsome reward offered for finding and returning the pooch, she’s convinced that her money problems concerning the renovated shop will be solved, at least temporarily. Unfortunately, that’s a check that’s never going to be cashed, let alone written as the owner of the lively pup is found dead… by Kelly. Now, Kelly isn’t one to let a mystery stop her from doing a bit of snooping on her own and she is soon knee-high boots deep in suspects, secrets, and danger.

I had a fun time with ‘What Not to Wear to a Graveyard‘. Because this is a Cozy Mystery I’m even more vague and careful about what information I share. There are certainly red herrings to be found, clues tossed about, and danger lurking in the background as Kelly investigates a most confusing murder and tries to not become the next victim. If you enjoy a really good Cozy Mystery then you’ll want to check out this novella, (#2.5) in the ‘Resale Boutique Mystery‘ series.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

What Not to Wear to a Graveyard by Debra Sennefelder is the 2.5th novella of the Resale Boutique Mystery series, and another fun addition. Kelly Quinn lost her job in the fashion industry in New York City, but she inherited her grandmother's consignment shop in Lucky Cove, in upstate New York. Kelly has been using her talents to turn the store into an upscale boutique. This story takes place around Halloween, which is always fun. When Kelly finds a body, the sleuthing begins. There are many twists and turns in this book. I enjoyed reading this book and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Where better to work than a fashion resale shop with Halloween around the corner? A short novella that is not short on entertainment or intrigue! When she inherited her Grandmother's resale shop, our Diva uses her fashion sense and experience to turn it into a upscale resale shop. This sets the scene for her many escapades into crime investigations, whether she wants them or not!!! This is the first I had read in this series but it so good, I'm going to go look for the first two books! Halloween will never look the same after Debra Sennefelder gets through with it!

What an action packed novella!! I normally don't do novellas but I love Debra Sennefelder's stories and this series is so enjoyable, I couldn't pass it up.

New to the Resale Boutique?? Kelly Quinn was a fashion buyer in Manhattan before inheriting her grandmother's outdated consignment shop. Giving up her high fashion life, Kelly returns to her home town of Lucky Cove to turn the consignment shop into an up scale resale boutique.

Halloween, a missing dog, and a dead socialite... Yes please!!

I was shocked by the reveal. I really couldn't believe how jam packed these 97 pages were!!

If you want a quick read, even if you haven't read this series, you will not be disappointed.

I cannot wait to read book 3, How to Frame a Fashionista, set to release November 24, 2020.

I had a digital copy of this book from Netgalley.

Halloween Themed Cozy Mystery
This Halloween themed short novella is part of the Resale Boutique Mystery series. This story has all of the feels: from really scary clowns to dead bodies, it will keep you jumping. Our heroine seems to have no common sense when she investigates a murder. The story is action-packed and it made me squirm more than a few times. I have enjoyed this series and this themed novella fits in well. You do not need to have read the series to enjoy this short piece. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

A quickly moving short tale. A cozy mystery with several suspects. The culprits were a bit of a surprise, which always makes it more entertaining.

3.75 Hearts This is a quick read to a series I have not read, however, this can be read as a stand alone even though it was cute enough that I will go back and read the first two.

I thought this was a light hearted cute read. It is not a paranormal even if from the title you think it is. It is more of a who-dun-it. I enjoyed Kelly. She seems over her head at times but yet she prevails.

Enjoyable!

A fun, fast paced cozy mystery read. I hadn't read any of the previous books but wasn't lost at all. I enjoyed the writing and the characters so much I will definitely go back to catch up. The mystery had just enough twists to keep you guessing and engaged.

This is book 2.5 in the series, but you won’t feel lost at all.
When Kelly heads out to the graveyard to scope out some places for a photoshoot, she never thought that she’d find the missing dog her friend had told her about. With the large reward, all Kelly could think about is the renovations she’d be able to do at the shop and upstairs apartment she’d inherited from her grandmother recently. When she returns the dog though, she doesn’t get to talk to the dogs owner, and has to leave her name and number so the owner can get in touch.
Once back at her consignment shop, she’s informed that someone wants to consign the contents of a house with her shop. The gentleman in question has used her grandmothers shop before, so Kelly heads out. While going through the wonderful vintage clothing and jewelry, she makes a shocking discovery. The body of a female who’d been stabbed. Calling 911, she let’s them know about what she found. This isn’t Kelly’s first time finding a body though, and with her keen eye, she registers details that will come into play later. Wading through a litany of suspects, Kelly is warned by numerous people not to investigate, but she can’t help it. Especially when she hears who the police have arrested. Determined to get to the bottom of things, she won’t even let the threat made at knife point by a clown stop her. When the killer was revealed, I didn’t want the story to be over. Great writing, witty and charming characters, and an intriguing plot keeps you fixated until the very end. I devoured this book in one sitting and was wanting more.
**I received an ARC of this story from the Publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Yes, I went from a Christmas book to what seems to be a Halloween book! This is the 2.5 book in this series. I will definitely be looking for the other books in the Resale Boutique series! I am a serial series non follower. This is my first book by this author. This is a Kensington book! I LOOOOVE their books from the art on the cover to the content between the covers! I have been a fan of this publisher for so long, I am afraid to tell you this is my first book by this author. This book is only 97 pages, but it was so good!
We begin this book with a dog missing in Lucky Cove, New York. The dog’s owner was married to a senator for a nanosecond, though, so this is high profile. The main character, Kelly learns there is a $5,000 reward. Since she moved back, she has been scraping for cash, so this would be amazing to get this cash! Kelly runs a consignment shop that she inherited from her granny and could use the money to do some renovations. Kelly is settling into her new life as an out of work fashion buyer to retail consignment owner. The inheritance came with an apartment, cat named Howard. Kelly got her share of family back in her life in the deal with her Uncle Ralph, his son Frankie and his baby daughter named Juniper. Kelly somehow agreed to a photoshoot in a cemetery in high-heeled boots. Um, have you been to a cemetery before? They normally aren’t paved, but they are grass ridden areas. High- heel anything and grass don’t tend to mix, as you sink in and if you need to go anywhere in a hurry, well that is kind of out of the question. Practical, this is not. Changing into the heels once you get to the location would be more like it, but to scout an exact location in heels, amateur, rookie move for someone in fashion!!! Kelly’s luck seemed to be changing as to what she discovers in the cemetery, though. Kelly’s uncle is more than she thought she was bargaining for. She seems to discover a lot of this lately. Her next stop is way more than she was bargaining for. This book had me gasping and on the edge of my seat, but not too scary! Just enough to get you in the mood for some Apple spiced something and what else- HALLOWEEN!!!

When I first requested this book from NetGalley, there was little information out there on this, so I was assuming that it was a full-length novel. When I started reading it, it felt so weird and disjointed that I wondered what the heck was wrong. And then, when I went searching again, found out it is a novella [and while a lot of novella's aren't weird and disjointed, some are and this one was one of them] and even though it is supposed to be soon after the events in book 2, feels more like the events after book 1. Now, I like a good novella; they are usually fun little stories in between main books that carry you over and keep you interested in the characters. This was...okay. Not great and not horrible. Just...average. I have a real issue with Kelly in this one [my GOSH she grated on my last nerve] and her inability to keep her nose out of things that don't pertain to her. Look, I read cozy mysteries and typically I love them. But I am finding that the cozies where the MC has a serious disregard for the police [and apparently their own lives] and neglect their loved ones and business to be the nosiest nelly out there, I apparently have a real issue with. There are plenty out there where the MC is a responsible adult [I know, I am reading them] AND solving mysteries. It is no wonder that the MC in this book is close to losing her shop; she is never there to run it [leaving it all to a considerably disgruntled Pepper to deal with - which is problematic as Pepper doesn't like change and doesn't want to implement the changes Kelly is SURE will turn business around, but cannot be bothered to do herself as "helping" the police continually {Not to mention stressing continually about HER FREAKING CLOTHES} ] and that is bothersome to me. Sleuth all you want, but be a responsible adult first. Geesh. If it wasn't a real love of the other characters and this little town, I would not be reading them [though this is the first one where Kelly really, really, really, grated on my last nerve]. The mystery was good [and the reason for the 3 stars] and there was enough of a scare factor to make me jump a couple of times [I HATE CLOWNS]. For a book that was under 100 pages, it wasn't bad. It wasn't great either, but it certainly wasn't the worst thing I have ever read. And much of my dislike of it comes from what I stated above. I will be reading the next one, and hopefully, Kelly will get her act together and the books will become a little more cohesive and all will be good. Is it wrong that I am not totally holding my breath on that one?? Sigh.

There IS one issue [that I will be sharing with the publisher as well] that I need to point out so you don't go W T HECK when you read it and spend valuable reading time trying to figure it out [because even though this is an ARC and they say everything will be fixed by publishing time, I know that that isn't always true]. In chapter 1, you learn that it is October. There is PSL everywhere, they have all dragged out their amazing boots and sweaters and Kelly and Liv are excited about the legendary local Halloween party. You can almost feel the crisp in the air [which was good, since it was 91% humidity the day I read this] and it is lovely.
Fast forward to chapter 7 and about mid-chapter, Kelly is actually working [GASP!!!!] and she receives a shipment of specialty bags that she plans to use in the summer, that is just a few weeks away.
WHAT?? I thought it was October? I was SO confused and spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I had missed. I truly think that it is just an editing error and hopefully they catch it, but people need to be aware that it is there. Because it is SO. FREAKING. CONFUSING.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing/Lyrical Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What Not to Wear to a Graveyard by Sennefelder is a quick, easy to read novella from the A Resale Boutique Mystery series. This is the third in the series and if you haven't read the first two. this could be a great introduction. I couldn't put it down.
This Halloween story has a great storyline and plenty of suspects. You will be guessing until the end.
The protagonist, Kelly. is likeable as are most of the characters. I also like the setting of Lucky Cove and would like to visit and do some shop hopping.
I was given an ARC by Lyrical Press and NetGalley for an honest review.

Short, fun Halloween novella. Fun story, loved reading about Kelly and the gang and their Halloween hijinks. Always a fun read!

Kelly has a fashion thrift store but being short of money can't believe her luck when she comes across a missing dog whose owner has offered a hefty reward. Unfortunately, the owner ends up dead and Kelly decides to do some sleuthing. It's an easy to read novella with a Halloween theme.

A short but satisfying mystery. Things were going well and Kelly thought she couldn't imagine how her day could get any better. She soon finds out that not only was Colonial Cemetery where her luck turned around for the better it was also going to do just the opposite.

The author did a good job of fitting all the basics of a cozy mystery into a novella and put us in the mood for Halloween. Also, I liked the characters and hope to see them in a longer book so I can get to know them even better. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.
