The cover alone is super cute, and I knew I was in for a good time before I even opened the book. This book is part of a series, which I’ve never read, but had no issues reading it as a standalone.

Kelly is a bit of a thrifting fashionista with a re-sale clothing store and has a tendency to put her nose where she probably shouldn’t. There’s a dog missing in town which she stumbles upon in a cemetery. She accidentally comes across its dead owner later on when she is asked to look at clothes in a home for her store! Never a dull moment for her. But the thing is, she has to know what happened!

This is a really fun, genuinely enjoyable, quick read. A cozy mystery if you will. Perfect for the fall and has nothing too mentally taxing. It’s along the lines of a shortened Aurora Teagarden book, so if you enjoyed that series, definitely give this one a read!

A quick “thanks” to the publisher, Kensington Books, and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. Please know that this review expresses my own personal opinions.

This was a quick read. It was enjoyable but I did find that the characters were a little bland & flat.

This is a short and easy read, well written, except for some unnecessary descriptions. The plot in such a short novel can't be too extensive, of course, but it's OK. The characters are very good.

Fun quick read! This is the first book I've read by this author. It's a quirky ametuar sleuth series with a slightly clumsy, nosy main character that seems to attract trouble. If you like Nancy Bush's Jane Kelly series, you'll like this too.

I was given a free ARC from Netgalley in return for my feedback.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I am not usually a fan of fashion/consignment cozies but this one really grabbed me.
I found the characters entertaining and the whodunit kept me enthralled and guessing.
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of the book.

This was a quick read. I didn't know this was the third book in a series when I picked it up but I had no problem jumping into the story.

Kelly has inherited her grandmother's consignment shop and she has dreams of turning it into an upscale vintage boutique. An area socialite's dog has gone missing and there is a reward. That reward would go a long way to helping Kelly achieve her dreams with her shop. She goes to scout a graveyard as a possible photoshoot location and gets spooked by noises that turn out to be the missing dog. Once she returns the dog she then stumbles upon the socialite's body in an abandoned farmhouse. Now someone is threatening Kelly to mind her own business or die.

I didn't guess the culprit until the reveal. Lots of possible suspects and Halloween spookiness going on.

What do vintage/recycled fashion, a graveyard, a missing dog and a dead body all have in common? Kelly Quinn of course! I am absolutely loving this series! Kelly has come home from upscale fashion in Manhattan to take over her grandmother's consignment shop that she has inherited and has plans to modernize it to turn it into the go to boutique for upscale and vintage fashion that is affordable to more people. She is doing a bang up job, except for one small detail....she keeps falling over dead bodies and can't seem to keep from sticking her nose into the investigations. If you like a humorous cozy mystery that dabbles in fashion then you won't be able to put this series down. The interpersonal relationships of the characters are entertaining as well as endearing and help draw you further into the plot! Add in that it is a fall/Halloween themed story and you have the perfect book for an entertaining afternoon!

I didn't realize this was a novella so I was surprised at how quickly I read it and how quickly the murder was resolved. I think for the price of a novella this would be a satisfying read to get you in the fall mood.

I have not read the previous books in this series but I felt this could be easily be read as a standalone.

This cozy takes place around Halloween so lots of cozy fall references, including pumpkin spice coffees. Our sleuth Kelly has inherited a consignment shop and with her fashion merchandising background wants to bring it up a notch. While out scouting a potential spot for a photo shoot for the shop (a graveyard of all places) she comes across a dog. Earlier that day, she and her best friend were discussing the large reward for finding said dog as Kelly could really use the money. Kelly returns the dog but the owner is not in to give her the reward so she leaves her contact info and goes into work. Her colleague tells her of a lead they have received for potential vintage clothes so Kelly goes to a abandoned farmhouse to see what there is. She finds some funky 70's clothes and on her way out decides to check out the kitchen to see if it still 70's avocado. That's where she finds the body of Constance, the owner of the dog, murdered.

Kelly has formed an attachment to Billy, Constance's dog. She has some thought of what may have happened but is told by the Detective not to interfere (I sense some history there) But Kelly does interfere and chases down potential clues.

The murder is wrapped up quickly (it is a novella, after all) . I felt it was a bit rushed .but understand the constraints of a novella

I received an ARC from the publisher via Net Galley. Any opinions expressed are my own.

I feel like all cozies with 3rd person POV should come with a warning label. But the main character wasn't very likeable, nor was her uncle, or any of the other characters in this book. In fact, everyone was just kind of mean and awful to each other and how they talked about others. I guess this was supposed to be more of a hardcore, people suck in real life type of message. I did not get the warm fuzzies like I do from most cozies but that's fine. I kept reading to try and figure out why she would want to host a fashion shoot in a graveyard that she herself was afraid of dying in. It was a little odd, unless his is supposed to be a Halloween special edition book but I think it's the first in the series. I loved the cover so I desperately wanted to like this book but I don't really connect with anti-heros like the main character. I mean, in the beginning she's outraged at stupid it is that someone would talk about a missing dog and then even dumber to pay a reward for it. And then when she finds the dog, she acts like she cares about it. Because she had trashed the whole missing dog post earlier, I just felt the main character was faking her concern for the dog. Plus, she also makes fun of her grandmother who left her the store and her cat. She truly hates the cat. Like what kind of cozy is this where the main character hates animals. And then she mentions how much she just loves her cousin's kid but hates her cousin's dad which is her uncle. So for this and many other reasons, it was really hard to like the main character.

Kelly Quinn has come home from the big city to run the consignment shop her grandmother left her, and things are going well, except that she keeps stumbling over dead bodies. In this Halloween themed installment of her story, a missing dog leads her to a murdered socialite.

I always enjoy Kelly's adventures with her friends and her fashion sense, too, but this book has too many moving parts. The mystery is very loosely plotted and Kelly's death-defying antics don't make sense. If the series is new to you, you might prefer to start with an earlier book.

What Not to Wear to a Graveyard is a novella and the third book in the Resale Boutique Mysteries by Debra Sennefelder. I greatly enjoyed the other two in the series, Murder Wears a Little Black Dress and Silenced in Sequins, so I was happy to see book three coming out… and even more excited because it’s a Halloween cozy, and I love me some Halloween.

I enjoyed the cozy in novella form. While I love reading cozy mysteries my two complaints are love triangles that keep going on and when the sleuth keeps repeating the clues over and over. But with a novella there’s no time for the repetition of clues and the author has to get straight to the point.
On the other hand there wasn’t as much time to get in depth into the characters, but if you’ve read the previous books you already know them pretty well. So while this is book three in the series, I think of it more as book 2.5.

Even if you didn’t read the previous books, Sennefelder did a good job with her descriptions of the characters and you won’t be lost. I did notice her descriptions of the outfits weren’t as numerous or as vibrant as past books, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy the series so much. But I did love the nods to Sennefelder’s own pets in the story and that made this book even sweeter.

There were also some inconsistencies in the story regarding it being daylight and then suddenly dusk or mentioning that summer was only a little ways away when it’s October… what happened to Winter and Spring?!? ;) But since this was an ARC, the editor may catch some of these things before it gets published.

All in all, another great story in the Resale Boutique Mysteries and I’m looking forward to more of Kelly and friend’s adventures.

This novella is the 3rd in the Resale Boutique mystery series. This is a quick read, Kelly Quinn is getting ready for Halloween at her inherited consignment shop. She is short on money but has a ton of ideas. Her friend Liv and soon to be model for the shop on social media tells her about a local socialite Constance Lane who is offering a reward for her missing dog. Kelly would love to have the reward money but does not have the time to do looking for the dog. She goes to scout out the location for her photo shoot with Liv at a local cemetery. Kelly gets spooked when she hears something and starts to leave when she finds a dog. It turns out it is the socialite’s dog. Kelly drops off the dog but it disappointed that it is only the housekeeper who is home. She later finds a dead body at a farmhouse she was supposed to be picking up items for the consignment shop. This was fast paced and I enjoyed Kelly work thru the mystery. Looking forward to the next installment.

I know I say this about many of the books I review, but Debra Sennefelder is becoming a favorite go-to author. Thia book has a wonderfully written plot set at Halloween time, which makes the mystery all that much spookier and on your toes. I love the characters. I even loved the characters who I was supposed to hate: the murderers! That shows you how well written this book was - they weren't on my radar at all to be the murderers!

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

So..I didn't know that this was the 3rd book in a series BUT fret not, you don't have to read the other 2 to fully understand the story. It's a short read but it was enough to make me want to know more about Kelly Quinn and her charming hometown, Lucky Cove. I am so gonna read the other 2 books and look forward to more books from this series. Although, I must say I am more invested in the characters than in the mystery, though.

Kelly just inherited a vintage consignment shop from her grandmother. While she is busy trying to make a go of the shop, she stumbles across the body of her towns most famous socialite Constance Lane. Kelly does some digging around but who can she trust?

I liked this book. It had a few twists that were fun and I loved the town and the characters that the author created. It was a quick read and enjoyable but I wouldn’t read it twice.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I thought this book was average for a cozy mystery. Its' a little shorter than I expected, there wasn't much investigating going on before the killer outed himself. I had trouble getting into the characters. I expected more from the title of the book. #WhatNotToWeartoaGraveyard #NetGalley

A lost dog, renovations, and Halloween are all thrown together for the perfect pattern of this mystery. Every page just draws you deeper and deeper into the story until you are shocked you are at the end. Definitely a great read!

I received an arc of this book from netgalley for an honest review. I think I'm going to give this book 3 stars. It was good, and I liked the characters but it didn't really standout.
It was a quick read, I read it in just a couple hours. I don't think you would have to start at the beginning of the series, but I think I would've gotten more from it if I had read the previous books. I did enjoy reading it for the overall story line, but I felt like it was missing something from the characters.
I did like the plot, the main character is scouting for a photo shooting location to showcase her clothing resale boutique. She decides that a graveyard will be a perfect place, and while there ends up finding a lost dog.. Later in the day after the lost doggy has been returned to his house, Kelly goes to a house that she is able to look through for things for her shop and ends up finding a dead body. Who happens to be the owner of the lost dog she found.
Kelly starts investigating the murder because it seems she just can't help herself, and end up getting accosted by a guy dressed as a clown with a knife (no one thought a clown on the street was weird cause it was halloween) Telling her to stop looking in to the murder..
When the actual killers confront kelly and threaten to kill her too, her friend comes along and bashes one of them on the head with a shovel, and then the police arrive.

#What Not to Wear to a Graveyard. Kelly Quinn is starting over in Lucky Cove. In the first installment of this series she inherited her Grandmothers consignment shop. She is settling into her new business/home nicely. It is the Halloween season and she is looking forward to attending a long standing annual party with friends.

She accidently finds a lost dog with a large reward attached in the local cemetary. She returns the cute little guy to his home. His owner is not home however, so she turns him over to the housekeeper. Several hours later when she goes to a home set for demolition to search for consignment items for her shop Kelly finds the dogs owner murdered.

Kelly can not help put snoop into the investigation despite the warnings of her friends and loved ones as to the dangers she faced while investigating the previous murder in the small town. We all know the amateur sleuth will ignore all of their advice. She will also down play her own gut when she believes she is heading into danger.

As we have come to expect the tale will have a happy ending with the help of those same friends and loved ones. The only minor issues I had is that I several places there are inconsistencies. Such as starting out a visit to a suspect in the morning and when Kelly leaves several moments later it has become dusk. Jumping seasons. Saying its Halloween and yet in the next sentence declaring summer is only a few weeks away. Even with those issues I would recommend this story to others.

I've read a few of the author's other books, so I was looking forward to this one and I wasn't disappointed. As it's a novella, it wasn't that long, but one still got a feel for the characters and the plot was engaging and fun. It could have benefited a bit of more character development, but as mentioned, it was a novella, so there wasn't that much wiggle-room really.

Overall, it was an entertaining Halloween-themed cosy mystery.
