A compelling legal thriller in its own right, but just too... too close to home these days. I don't need to read about what the dystopia of a few years from now might look like, because I'm living through the collapse in real time.

Still, Brown's a quick writer and a deft hand at the legal plotting. And the imagination on display IS quite potent! But, I mean, in 2020? in this economy?

Just finished an advanced reader copy of FAILED STATE by Christopher Brown, a page-turning dystopian legal thriller that's sure to make many best-of lists. If it wasn't already, Brown's reputation as a literary stylist will be solidified.
