This book begins with an extended version of what exactly happened at the end of Alien Minds.   It shows more of what is going through Meimi and Thorne's minds when the unbelievable happens and it seems they are separated permanently.   However,  if you know anything about Meimi Archer, you know she will find a solution to this problem and that she will totally kick ass while doing it.  This is especially true because she has Zoe and Chloe on her side.  Meimi is attending Echo Academy and using all its resources to find a way to break through the Exile Void. Meanwhile, Thorne is trying to figure things out with his father, Cole, who apparently believes Meimi needs to be HIS transcendent so he can keep his throne. If this sounds complicated, just wait till you read further in the book, things get WILD! This is not only incredibly entertaining and fun, but really interesting. Particularly the way Bauer adds in all these little details about the appearances of things, it just makes all the aspects of this story even more unique. Not to mention the craziness of the plots within plots, the hidden schemes and surprises that really just come out of nowhere and make this series spectacular. And, let's not forget the romance! I loved reading this series. If your looking for some fun and unstoppable spacey romance then these are the books for you!

Lost my review so to repeat:

This is a fast paced teen fantasy, book #4 in a series. I had read the novella which was #1 and nothing in the middle. It was easy to get up to speed. There is a lot of adventure and danger here as our protagonists just want to get together.

The teen vernacular and the alternating points of view were not my favorite aspects of the book. However it glows really quickly, the kind of book you can read in one sitting. I’ve already bought #2 and #3 to get completely caught up. For anyone who loves teen based fantasy.
