I really liked this sweet holiday romance between Lana and Rick. This fun sequel had plenty of rom-com moments similar to the first book in the series, which I loved. Rick and Lana had a very slow burn, but good chemistry throughout the story. Lana's personality came across strong and sunshine, while Rick was the silent, grumpy type hero. I really enjoyed all the animal bits including Darla the hedgehog, Roger the grumpy cat, and the mysterious Christmas hating Santa Moose. I did feel we could have seen a bit more of Rick's personality. It was a little flat and nonexistent while the story focused on Lana for a good portion of the beginning. Overall, I really liked this story and can't wait to return to Moose Springs in the next book.

I really enjoyed this second book up in Moose Springs. I started laughing with the very first line. Rick was a refreshing hero. Shy but not a loner, he stepped up and took care of his nephew when his ex-wife's family died in an accident. I also really like Lana, she showed her vulnerabilities to Rick, something which she rarely showed anyone. There were a few misses for me (for example, I thought some paragraphs felt very long, the overuse of the phrase dearest), but it was a really good follow up to The Tourist Attraction.

3.5 STARS

It is with heavy heart that I give this book an under 4 star review. I looooved The Tourist Attraction, despite its very PG content (I usually go for more steam). It was funny and fresh and the writing was great!

WHAT I WASN'T FEELING:

MISTLETOE & MR. RIGHT feels a bit like an early book draft. There were 3 or 4 entire chapters that I felt could have been cut, mostly about Lana's family business. It's information we simply don't need which slows the book's pacing significantly.

There is also the slightly annoying way Lana calls everyone "Dearest". First, it is used in this book 42 times. It's too much. Second, I have not ever in my life heard someone under 97 years old use this term of endearment. It feels gimmicky.

It was also hard for me to believe that two adults, who have each been sexually active for decades, would make out for hours at a time without ever sealing the deal. It seems extremely unrealistic.

WHAT I LOVED:

Rick is a character we almost never see in contemporary romances: a shy leading man. I absolutely loved this aspect of his character. He's not socially awkward. He's not a loner. He's a nice guy who is truly shy and, in a literary world filled with cocky alphas, it was so refreshing a fun to read his story.

The same funny scenarios are in this book that I loved in T.T.A. There is a date gone so hilariously wrong that you will laugh out loud. I loved the quirky humor so much.

So many romances tie all loose ends up with a pretty bow by the epilogue. But real relationships are complex and sometimes complicated. This book gives is both a highly satisfying HEA while still acknowledging that there are semantics of a working relationship that continue to shift and change. I really enjoyed the happy, yet realistic, conclusion of this book.

This is the second book about the small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. I just finished listening to The Tourist Attraction, which I enjoyed very much. I am so glad that I listened to it as the narrator, Elise Arsenault, is wonderful, and I could just imagine the characters' voices in this second book.

It's not that this follow-up is a bad story, it's just a little blah. I didn't feel it was as much of a romantic comedy as the first book. Lana is in Moose Springs looking for her happy, but she isn't going to do that by building her condominiums. The townspeople are against it, but she is determined. And Rick..as her supposed love interest...it was a hard sell for me. It wasn't very convincing. He is a quiet, divorcee without, it seemed, too much of a personality or too much going for him.

I enjoyed revisiting Graham, Zoey, Easton and Ashtyn and the Santa Moose. I look forward to the third book, Easton's story.

I loved the Tourist Attraction so I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on the second book of the Moose Springs series! Focusing on quiet Zoe's "larger than life" friend, Lana, this book is as loveable as the first! Lana is from a powerful family and is trying to invest in Moose Springs, but the town is totally against her. Except for Rick, a sweet divorcee who has been falling for Lana from afar. With all of the romance and "of course that happened in Alaska humor" of the first book, I found this love story to be cozy and perfect for the holiday season!

Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler was absolutely wonderful, a perfectly timed distraction from reality.

{Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for my e-ARC, in exchange for my honest review.}

In Mistletoe and Mr. Right, Morgenthaler takes us back to Moose Springs, Alaska for this new, hilarious romantic comedy. An illusive moose is destroying Christmas decorations, and Lana is struggling to find acceptance from the community of Moose Springs, the place she's trying to make her home. To try to curry favor with the locals, she decides to capture the Santa Moose and save Christmas, but it's harder than it sounds. Enter Rick, a local friend who would love to be more. Could two people who have lived such different lives really make it work? Can a holiday fling turn into forever?

This is the perfect read for the holidays, an excellent escape from all the 2020 drama. Election season shenanigans? No, thank you. Romance in backwoods Alaska? Yes, please. This sweet, closed door romance is the perfect antidote to news-induced cynicism and/or despair. It's a quick read with a lot of heart, and now I want to live in Alaska.

Thank you to Sourcebooks and Netgalley for this gifted copy. All opinions are my own.

Sooo I almost DNF'd this book. I was at 20% of the book and realized I was only on chapter 3 and nothing was happening. The chapters are incredibly long and pacing extremely slow. The second half got better in terms of plot but I really wasn't feeling Lana. I couldn't tell if she was 30 or 50 with the number of "Dearest" she used with everybody. I dislike overuse of pet names in general but this was super cringey.

Overall, it was fine. I didn't hate it but I also don't have much to say about it. Sorry to say but I don't think I'm going to continue with the series.

This was just okay for me. It was cute and had me laughing every so often however, I just felt like there was something missing. I really don't have too much to say about it, to be honest. Overall it was an average, cute, and easy to read romance that definitely reminded me of a Hallmark movie.

Oh. My. Gosh. This book!!!

I am dumbfounded by how cute this was! I was already intrigued by Lana when I first read about her in The Tourist Attraction and I absolutely ADORE her!

I didn’t really have expectations coming into this book. I loved the first one and knew that I’d probably love this one too. I loved this one even better than the first! This was everything I never knew I wanted or needed from these characters!!!

Rick and Lana are EVERYTHING. Their chemistry and banter and relationship were all just so beautiful to read about. It was so sweet and tender with plenty of sizzling tension there too. 😉

Long story short: if you’re looking for an amazing, cute, and sweet love story with two characters your heart will immediately melt for? This book is for you!

Thank you so much NetGalley for this arc!💕

After not loving the first book in this series, I thought I’d give the author another chance. To my disappointment I didn’t really enjoy this book either.

I wasn’t a big fan of the humour, and some scenes were way too over the top for me (e.g. the squirrels, sausages,...). They just weren’t particularly funny in my opinion.

The main characters, Lana and Rick, didn’t have much chemistry, so the romance felt lacking. I didn’t feel connected to them at all and Lana‘s overuse of the word “dearest“ grated on my nerves after a while.

Overall the book fell flat for me and I’ll probably skip out on the sequel.

Life is a bit stressful lately, but the sweet and fun romance of Mistletoe and Mr. Right struck just the right chord.

Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the first book in this series and was looking forward to reading Lana’s story in Mistletoe & Mr. Right. I think if I had read this book first, my expectations wouldn’t have been as high. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. This book had a much slower pace at the start. A large portion of the book focused on the growing interest of the two main characters. Not much else happened plot wise. Then, things started to pick up but also fall apart around chapter 13. After over 200 pages of not much happening, everything started to move at turbo speed. That would have been fine except that the whole story from that point on felt a bit slap dashed and disjointed. It felt like the author had run out of steam and was trying to race to the end as quickly as possible. I’m hesitant to give specific example for fear of sharing spoilers, but I can say that at one point I actually stopped reading and said, “Wait! When did THAT happen?”
All that being said, I can still confidently say there are people who will thoroughly enjoy this book. I know it will definitely make it on my readers advisory list for library users looking for light contemporary romantic comedies. And even though this book didn’t work for me, I’ll probably read the next one in the series. I give this 2.5 stars rounded up to 3.

MISTLETOE & MR. RIGHT is a cute Christmas romance. From the very first sentence, you know you’re in for some laughs. It’s a very easy read. With everything going on in the world right now, it’s a great escape.
-
We follow the love story of Lana, the rich socialite who is trying to change the towns ways, and Rick, a struggling business owner.
-
I liked them together just fine, but I just didn’t fall in love with them. Lana is very lonely and desperately wants a place to call home. She knows what she wants. She’s hardworking and determined to succeed in all that she does. She’s a boss. Rick is more shy, his confidence has taken a hit since his divorce. They come from different walks of life, but they want to make it work.
-
I don’t have any pressing issues about the book, but I didn’t /love/ it. The constant pet names and terms of endearment got on my nerves a bit. It was often “dearest” this and “darling” that. It kind of pulled me out of the story because I kept thinking, who talks like this?
-
This book is the second instalment in a companion series. I haven’t read book 1— I do wish I read book 1 first because I usually read companion series in order, but you don’t need to to understand. There’s a third book on the way, too. There is a character in this book, Killian, whose story I’d love to read someday!

Just right to cheer you up when the news is so ...well, news. Lana has come to Moose Springs, Alaska with the hopes of building a condo community but that's not what the town wants, She decides that one way to bring them around might be to actually capture the elusive Christmas moose, which destroys the town's decorations every single year! Rick, who has been in love with Lana from afar, also tells the story- and what a fun story it is. Slightly implausible to be sure in spots but also filled with good will. I'd not read the first book and this was fine as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I know it's meant to be a Christmas book but it' would be good any time you need a good old-fashioned rom com laugh.

Mistletoe & Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler // ❄️❄️❄️❄️

Thank you @sourcebookscasa and @netgalley for the eARC! Mistletoe & Mr. Right is available on 10/6! 🎅🏽

It’s never to early for the holidays, and Mistletoe & Mr. Right had me feeling that Christmas spirit. This is the second story in the Moose Springs, Alaska series, the first being the very popular book The Tourist Attraction. This was the first I’ve read if the series, but it definitely won’t be the last. Luckily it was unique enough to stand on its own, however I’m sure having any added familiarity with the characters would have made the story even more delightful.

This book was like a slightly sassier version of a Hallmark movie featuring a classic trope: big city business woman learns from a small town the true meaning of Christmas/family. There were some hilariously funny moments as well as some heart warming scenes as we got to see Lana Montgomery, a fancy investor looking to revive the sleepy town of Moose Springs, fall in love with Rick Harding, a town native and one of the few people who seems happy with Lana’s presence in the town. By the end, after some romance, soul searching, and a few shenanigans including a hunt for an errant moose that hates Christmas decorations, Lana and Rick discover the true depth of their feelings for the town and each other. This quirky little Christmas love story is a must read for anybody who enjoys a good holiday romance. 🤍

First I would like to thank Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablance for the ARC of Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler.

Publishing Date: October 6, 2020.

I absolutely loved the first book to this cute romance series, The Tourist Attraction, I was also very excited to read this one that was centered around the holiday season, especially gearing up for the holiday readathon,

I always love when romance sequels just create a romance out of characters we have already grown to know and love, but I was nervous because Lana in the first book was not painted in the bet light. However, I did end up loving how this romance played out between the high powered and hard working young women and the small town pool hall owner.

The relationship between Rick and Lana started out as a crush but ended up growing into something far more than either of them expected. This cute holiday romance has endless antics with the small town Alaskan animals and hilarious locals.

If you aren't a fan of any steam - this book is for you!!!

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a cute and warm holiday romance this season.

It is a great idea for a book; two lonely people finding love during Christmas time in a small Alaskan town.
Sadly, the idea is better than the actual book. I had a hard time getting into it and I am sure I will soon forget all about it. I love the setting of a small town during holiday time in Alaska. Unfortunately, the romance part of the book is lacking. Lana and Rick's love story is just not interesting, believable, or enough for a such long book.
I liked book one, however, this one is disappointing.

I feel in love with quirky small town of Moose Springs, Alaska in the first book Tourist Attraction and my love for this town and the people in it only grew more with reading this book!
Do you want a feel good having you laugh out loud romcom with a Christmas flare to it? Then you will want to pick up this book. For real this is going to have you feeling all the Christmas feels and making you feel like you have been placed smack down in this small town in Alaska.
I always enjoy reading a book with a smart strong female lead and Lana Montgomery is exactly that and more. I'm a huge fan of the books that give us readers both the female and male point of view from chapter to chapter.
Don't worry if you haven't read the first book of the series this can totally be read as a standalone so just do yourself a favor and pick up this book. Honestly we all need a nice escape from what is going on in the world and we just need something to give us all a feel good feeling and this book did exactly that for me.

Just like it’s predecessor, Mistletoe & Mr. Right is like a hug you didn’t even know you needed. But adding some Christmas magic to the mix made it even more special.

Morgenthaler’s books are the joy you need in your life. I’ll keep recommending these books to people and I’m grateful they were recommended to me.

When you want to get butterflies in your stomach, or if you want to shed a few tears, these are the books for you.

This has been my first book of Sarah’s and after reading this heartwarming holiday story, she’s become a “one click” author for me!

The townsfolk of Moose Springs, Alaska thinks Lana Montgomery is the Grinch come to life due to her up and coming luxury condo project in their already tourist-filled town. When word gets out that the infamous Santa Moose is back and wreaking havoc on town property and Christmas decorations, Lana takes it upon herself to volunteer to catch the mysterious creature. By catching Santa Moose, Lana believes this will earn her the approval of the town and make life easier. Sounds simple, right? Wrong! Lana ends up getting the help of sweet loner Rick Harding, and what we see from then on is a laugh out loud, sweet romantic comedy that will get you in the holiday cheer! You won’t be able to help but love Lana’s humbleness, optimism, and determination, as well as mister Rick Harding!
