This trip back to Moose Springs is just what I wanted this week. It's quirky and fun. Lana and Rick give me the perfect combinations of heart sighs and a case of the giggles.
Lana is the whole package. She's put together. She's business savvy. She's a little untouchable. Everyone wants a piece of her. Except the residents of Moose Springs. They want her and her commercialism price tag to go back to the lower 48. Lana wants them to want her and agrees to take care of the Santa Moose, another local legend and problem.
Rick is gun-shy with a healthy dose of unrequited love. His mild insecurities make him loveable. He also is one of a very select few locally who appreciates Lana.
I might just like this one better than Tourist Attraction - I might need to reread both to decide for certain. Sarah's humor threading through perfectly offsets some serious moments. And I just love all of the squirrel references. All of them!
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.
This was the second book I’ve read by this author. I’m a sucker for a book set in Alaska, especially when that book has Christmas and holidays in it. Once again a Moose in Moose Springs is a side character who brings a lot to the story. This was a cute read but I wasn’t able to connect with the heroine and hero as much in this book but it won’t stop me from reading the next one in the series. If you were a fan of the first book in this series, it’s worthwhile reading this one to see more glimpses and catch up with everyone in Moose Springs
I did not enjoy this book at all. I honestly had trouble reading even 10%. I skimmed the rest. First off, so many characters I couldn’t keep trap. Aspects of the plot also confused me. On the other hand, I found the characters overly simple. I legitimately thought this book was about teenagers, not adults. It had this very young and immature, simple vibe, but was about grown adults, it didn’t add up. Rick presented as a young, kinda weird quirky. I cringed hard every time Lana said “dearest”. Lana came off as a super snob. I couldn’t buy into it and found it so predictable. I haven’t read the first book in this series but I think I’m removing it from my list. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.
"She gazed out at the thick blanket of snow covering the mountainside, evergreens thrusting vertically into the sky, strong and straight trunked even in the harshest of Alaska's weather. No matter what was thrown at them, those trees stayed tall and true, refusing to bend and break. On every city street, on every beach, in every desert estate...no matter where Lana went, she always thought of those trees. Taking her strength from the lifeblood of the place she one day wanted to stay forever."
Savvy businesswoman and heir apparent to the company's throne, Lana Montgomery must ensure that the Montgomery Group comes first, even if it means sacrificing her heart's desires. In the second installment of the Moose Springs series, Lana is working to win over the locals after announcing her plan to build luxury condos on the mountainside, therefore obliterating any chance for a quiet, tourist-free town that those who live there are desperate for. In a Hail Mary attempt to achieve this, she takes on the quest to find the "Santa Moose", an elusive creature that lives for the destruction of Christmas decorations. Along the way, her friendship with local billiards hall owner, Rick, transitions to a holiday fling, eventually growing to something that neither of them expected. Will their love be enough, or will the very essence of who they are pull them apart?
Mistletoe and Mr. Right was my first Christmas romance of the year, and it did not disappoint. I loved the Santa Moose's antics, the Christmas decor, the skin-tight Santa suit, and the gingerbread town, all of which fostered the holiday spirit. While the book is intended to be light and breezy, one of my favorite aspects was the depth and complexity of the characters. Lana and Rick were both multi-faceted, mature characters that had already done some of the work on themselves (such as going to therapy), making their relationship seem far more believable, as well as allowing me to empathize with them in a way that I was unable to do so with Graham and Zoey. I didn't realize until after I finished The Tourist Attraction how much I was put off by Graham's explosive behavior and Zoey's immaturity, and it was a breath of fresh air to have two protagonists that were less impulsive. I was incredibly proud of Lana at the end of the book when she took a stand for herself, proving that falling in love and successfully leading a business do not need to be mutually exclusive.
If you're looking for a holiday romance that will make you smile while encouraging you to think about what matters most, this is the one. Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the early copy in exchange for my honest review. I look forward to reading Easton's story next!
This book is pretty cute.
It's a quick read and delivers a nice little holiday escape to small town Alaska in a time when we're all desperate for an escape of any variety at all. I loved Lana and relate to her sense of longing to belong and Rick is a perfectly delightful cinnamon roll. Their epic quest to catch a Christmas sabotaging moose is an adorably ridiculous way to fall in love and yet I will absolutely take it. Fine holiday fun.
I really enjoyed The Tourist Attraction and my first visit to Moose Springs earlier this year and was excited for the 2nd book. Sadly this one didn’t have quite as much magic as the first one for me. I loved getting back to the town, and getting a little bit more backstory in Lana and the town. I enjoyed the book, but didn’t love it. I could have used a little more banter and a little more spice between Lana and Rick. If you’re looking for a quick holiday themed read this would fit the bill. Bonus- the audiobook is on Hoopla.
I LOVE this series! Moose Springs is just what I needed for 2020! I love the sweet and hilarious characters. It took me a little while to review because I didn’t realize it was the second book in a series, but I loved The Tourist Attraction too. Lana was such a strong independent character but it was great to see her find love. I just adored Rick. The men in this series are amazing! The updates on Zoey and Graham were great. I loved the progression of their relationship.
I will update with the link when I share on my Instagram.
I got this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.
I read the first book in the series this summer and while I liked it I remember thinking it was really long for the type of story it was. Since I read only ebooks I don't really pay much attention to how large a books are when I start them. This book was so long, and it took me a really long time to finish, 9 days to finish a book for me is unheard of. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the revisit to Moose Springs, and I like the wholesomeness to the book and it gave me feels of a Hallmark Channel Movie (even though I have never seen one) but I just felt like the main story line could have been told much quicker. I did find it odd that the opposites attracted story line wasn't more heavily focused on, and I wonder how Rick would even fit into Lana's life? After all those pages it seems like they just said, We are going to make it work, I am going to spend more time in Alaska and things will be great even though I am a billionaire and you are not. Like the hurdle was she wasn't from Alaska, and not that she was a billionaire. And did Rick have to alter his life at all for her?

This Moose Springs series brings me such immense joy. While the books are incredibly long, they're still filled with so much heart and emotion and hilarity, that it makes it worth it. Lana and Rick had me laughing hysterically one minute, and then crying the next, and for me, that's the sign of a good book. From taxidermy squirrels, to gillie suits, you can expect nothing but a good time when you're in Moose Springs, hanging out with the residents, and I sure did have fun. I can't wait to see what we get from Easton.
Cute romance set in a small mountain town involving the woman that the town hates (though she feels as though she's just trying to help) and the curmudgeon pool hall owner. This was a closed door romance - very hallmark-esque. Though I thought the story had a lot of potential, it felt lacking to me and was a bit disappointing. What I liked: Cute forced proximity scenes that brought the couple together, how supportive the characters were of each other, learning more about the town and the people in it
What I didn't like:
- It was long! I felt like the author was trying to fit in too many plots points.
- Also had long chapters
Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler, is the 2nd book in the Moose Spring, Alaska series, and my first book by this author. Mistletoe and Mr. Right is a sweet holiday romance that I really enjoyed. I was so excited to be granted the wish of receiving an advance reader copy of this book. If you're looking for a fun romance that puts you into the Christmas spirit, and also makes you laugh out loud, I highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed. I look forward to going back and reading the first book in the series, The Tourist Attraction. I love it when books make me laugh.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
It is so nice to be back in Moose Springs, Alaska when we can't travel. Mistletoe and Mr. Right is a fun, holiday romcom. Rick and Lana are adorable together while dealing with family drama, town politics, and a Scrooge of a moose. I can't wait to visit again. Thanks Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.
Mistletoe and Mr. Right brings you back to Moose Springs! I loved Lana's character in The Tourist Attraction and was excited to learn more about her. Unfortunately this one fell a little flat for me. I wanted more about why Lana was the way she was besides just her family business is very demanding and she grew up in board rooms. Rick seemed like such a sweetheart and I really did like his character.
The terms of endearment throughout got to be too much. I couldn't really imagine Rick saying 'sweetheart' or 'dear' as much as he did and Lana's use of those same words just felt condescending.
I needed more Diego and Quinn - maybe in the future?! I also enjoyed the peak back into Zoey and Graham's life as you always want to catch up with former characters.
Overall, if you liked The Tourist Attraction it's definitely worth revisiting in Mistletoe and Mr Right.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cutesy little Christmas romance! I probably should have read the first one before this one (did not realize it was a part of a series) but I definitely enjoyed this and learning about the town!
4.5 stars rounded up to 5. I loved the laugh-out-loud humor of The Tourist Attraction (first book in the series) with Zoey and Graham’s story. I recommend reading that one first, though this one probably could be read as a standalone. For me, this one had the same humor along with a little more depth; almost being your own worst enemy when it comes to relationships. I loved it even more than the first one!
This is Lana and Rick’s story. Lana Montgomery is from a very wealthy family. They have recently bought much Moose Springs, AK, and the locals aren’t happy about it. Lana is actually trying to save the town’s economy, but nobody seems to care, and her condo project is moving slowly. Moose Springs is where her best friend, Zoey, now lives, and it’s a town where she has fond memories of spending time with her family as a young girl.
Rick owns the local bar and pool hall- no tourists allowed. But he might make an exception for Lana. Rick is divorced and doesn’t feel that he’s much of a catch. He is shy, loyal, and hard on himself. I really enjoyed their story and can’t wait to come back to Moose Springs for book three!!
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this one just as much as the tourist attraction! I love series where the characters recur in other books. So happy to see Jake the Dog was back in this one. Looking forward to part three!

You guys! I committed a book faux pas. I read Mistletoe & Mr. Right, the second book in the “Moose Springs, Alaska series” before I read the first book The Tourist Attraction. Now, you don’t need to read them in order, but I think I would have been better connected to the characters if I did. Live and learn!
Some books it takes you a bit to be interested in. And some books have you from the the first line. Mistletoe & Mr. Right is the latter. The opening line is about a penis being drawn in the snow! No, really. Hilarious, right!?
Lana Montgomery is a rich socialite outsider who has big dreams to transform the small Alaskan town of Moose Springs into something even better. The locals of Moose Springs are a tight knit group and are determined to run her out of town for good. Well everyone, but Rick, who has a crush on Lana.
Things I liked:
🏔The setting. Well, sort of. I lived in Alaska for 3 glorious years and miss it so much! And I’m here to tell you that Christmas in Alaska is COLD. I’m talking negative DANGEROUS temperatures. You literally have to plug in your car so the engine doesn’t freeze. There is no way your sleeping in your car because dead stuffed squirrels at a B&B scare you. A B&B you’re stuck at because it’s snowing and the roads are dangerous!
🏔I adored Rick. Who doesn’t love a man who steps up to the plate in the time of a tragedy to take care of his ex-wife’s nephew. Plus, he is an animal lover!
🏔I loved all the secondary characters. I need to read The Tourist Attraction ASAP. And I have no excused because I own it on my shelf!
🏔This book is LOL funny!
Things I didn’t like:
❄️The plot of trying to capture a moose was just silly. And frankly dangerous. Moose trample people to death!
❄️I wanted more romance in this! Lana and Rick’s chemistry was ‘eh’.
❄️Lana immediately calling Rick ‘dearest’ was annoying. Yes, I’m nit picking.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 All in all funny and an enjoyable read. Thank you @netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the eARC in exchange for my opinion.
This was another great book by Sarah Morgenthaler! I love this series so much. I loved Lana and Rick and coming back to Moose Springs. I can't wait for the next book to come out!
What a cute and fun read! When I started this book I had no idea it was a part of a series so I can say that it works great as a stand-alone but look forward to reading the first book. This is a hallmark movie in book form. We have the strong and independent businesswoman that ends up in a small town that coincidentally has a handsome single business owner. It was a perfect escape and I loved using this as an introduction to the holidays season.
This was so much fun! If you read the first book (which you should) you know how funny the author is! I literally couldn’t put this down. I love that she continued this series with other characters from the first book and didn’t make it too hard to follow along with. I think her hilarious writing has followed her through the the end of this one as well and it was a fun story to tell. I received this for an honest review but I would buy it. It is totally worth it and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
