This is the kind of book that you read the back and know exactly how it will play out, but that's actually the fun of it. It's like comfort food.

Out of the many Leslie North romance books I've read, this one I think I liked the most. It's not a long book so I was able to finish reading it fairly quickly.

This is the first book in this series. They had been engaged but his life with the SEALs was not what she had in mind. She broke off the engagement right before his third deployment. Now she has need of his help. Her family business is being sabotaged. She can't get the police to believe her. When he finds out about their son things get interesting. Will they be able to figure out why the destruction is happening? Will he get the family he has always wanted?

This was an ok second chance romance with some suspense on the side. I didn't entirely buy the premise (if a person is deep undercover, I'm sure the Admiralty would've relayed his messages once he's returned), the mystery could've been handled better, and I didn't fully connect with either of the characters, let alone feel their emotions with them. That had mostly do with the slightly distancing writing style that often relied on telling instead of showing. But the story flowed nicely enough and it had all the important elements required from a romance. There are more books to come in the series and I might give them a go too.

Quick read and very enjoyable. Love a story of second chances. Imagine the surprise on the face of Carolyn’s ex-fiancée when he comes face to face with a duplicate of himself in the form of a toddler. Well that’s what happens when Zach is one the team that is called in when there is a robbery at the jewelry store that Carolyn owns. He has been out of the picture and away on a mission while part of the elite SEALS team, but has now separated and is a civilian. Thus begins the story of what is happening with the jewelry store (is someone out to run them out of business?). Zach isn’t going to let Carolyn keep him away from his son or let her investigate this rash of mishaps alone, but do they have a chance of working things out? Hmm…read it and see!
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC for an honest opinion.

I love me a military romance!! I enjoyed this, it was a quick read so the relationship couldn't be explored more I just would have liked more build-up for the reconciliation between Carolyn and Zach, I feel like they just got back together without speaking about the past.

Overall I enjoyed it and will probably pick up the next book!

This is a fast paced, quick read, and well written book. Loved the detail and overall storyline. I found myself rooting for the main character and wanted her to get back together with her ex- fiancé. Life isn’t easy, yet the characters in this book have blow after blow to deal with. Without telling you the jist or specific details, just know it’s a fun read. Thanks for the opportunity to pre-read this book. Enjoy!

I have liked this author in the past, so I thought I would give this one a try. It was a quick, yet sweet read.

I liked the idea of the story but some things came across a bit over the top.

Carolyn Evert had a past fiance, and now she has a baby and a family business to keep successful.
With a robbery gone bad she ends up facing Zach Vale her ex-fiance.

I liked that Zach was a stoic man of little words. Yet, when he needed to talk he did it well. Once we found out the reason for Carolyn breaking it off with Zach I felt bad for Zach because it must have felt out of no where. Yet I did see her reasoning kind of. I then though her attempts to let Zach know about her son was also weak and if she truly knew her ex she would have known he never would have abandoned them.

I liked the fact that she let Zach in quite easily though her I don't need help stubborn streak got tired fast. The suspense was good even though the combination of all the events felt a bit over the top.

I liked how Zach was with his son. Both Carolyn and Zach had issues and they were forced to deal with them in order to be together and stay together.

Even though some elements were a bit much for me I do want more from the Vale men.

I enjoyed this second chance romance. Zach is a retired Navy Seal who is unexpectedly reunited with his former fiancee Carolyn. Much to his shock she has a wonderful son that he never knew about, The jewelry store founded by Carolyn's mother is under attack and Zach needs his best Seal skills to save the day.

I'm not usually a fan of surprise baby books but this one had me hooked.
Loved this book.
It's become a favourite of mine.
Defiantly looking forward to reading more from Leslie North

"The Seal's Surprise Son" is a story of finding out that the love is still there. After Zach's deployment in the Seals, he comes home and becomes part of the security response team. On one such response of a jewelry story being robbed, it is Carolyn's, his ex. As their story unfolds with action and danger, the emotions take over as Zach learns of his son. As the three of them make connections with each other, the danger is not over, and Zach must do all he can to protect what he thought was lost. A sweet second chance romance with a HEA, I always enjoy and look forward to a Leslie North story. **I was gifted a copy via NetGalley and leave my review voluntarily based on my reading** 4.5 Stars! --- A side note, I would like to apologize to the author and Relay Pub. for the lateness of my review. My computer crashed and was in the shop. I am still working to recover many of my books.

I’m a big fan of second chance romances. Given that I was very excited when I got the chance to get an early copy of this book. The story itself is good however the book was a bit disappointing. Carolyn and Zach Never really felt like they resolve their pest issues. It was a good story however not my favorite

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily leaving a review

This is outside of my normal reading genre scope. I don't usually read romances, and if I do, I am almost always disappointed. But, I wanted to read this because it was a military romance. This was just an okay read for me. She broke up with him two years prior while he had just left the Navy. Nothing about what happened while they were apart except her having baby. She tried to tell him but he never got the messages. Someone was trying to destroy her business and he helped her solve it. At one point he was a jerk for no reason and it made no sense.

This was a little bit of a let down for me. I love a second chance romance, but this felt a little too rushed (this could be in part because it was a novella). When Carolyn realizes Zach is back in town, it was as if they fell right back into their relationship without working through their past issues. I also thought that the mystery aspect was very rushed. It was a quick and easy read which is what I needed, but still a bit of a let down.

This was an ok romantic suspense. There wasn't enough suspense, and the MC was a little hard to like. She was really stubborn but needy, it didn't mesh well. The male MC was your typical former military alpha, so wasn't unique enough for me to want to root for him. It definitely left me wanting more.

What a let down. I was expecting something interesting, romantic and hot after reading the blurb; I imagined it wouldn't be a mindblowing story... but I expected more than I got, really.

I love second-chance romance stories, I think they are full of possibilites; and I also enjoy the "I didn't know I had a kid" trope. With this, this story had all chances to nail it... but didn't. It was just too easy, too plain.

First, we get to meet Carolyn and his kid Austin. She's now the owner of the jewerly shop her mother founded, the shop is doing well and she's happy with her life even though her son's father and previous fianceé didn't want to be a dad. An unexpected robbery leads Zach, the said ex-fianceé, in front of her and... surprise! He didn't know anything about the kid. This is, in short, what the blurb promises, and it's what happens in the first two chapters more or less.

My problem is that, even though the premise is interesting enough, it's pretty... insipid. The reencounter lacks intensity and the way both of them get back to the relationship like nothing really happened was just dissapointing. I couldn't feel their feelings, and most of the story is told and that didn't help. There was nothing that made me feel they really loved each other, nothing that justifies their broken engagement.

The sex and romantic scenes too seemed lacking to me. As I said, they didn't feel that real and didn't convey their feelings... so it was easy to read (because the story as a good rhythm, at least) but not that interesting.

I didn't even find the mystery that interesting. Again, easy to read but doesn't get you hooked into it. It's pretty obvious what will come and everything happens too easily, like in those bad movies that cast on TV at lunch time that even though are pretty bad you can't help watching until the end.

I wasn't a big fan of Carolyn for a good portion of the book. She seems cowardly and not supportive of a SEAL. To give him such an ultimatum was selfish. Zach wasn't much better never fitting for what he wanted and just walked away without a care or work. I'm glad they worked out their differences in the end.

I found Leslie North via NetGalley and jumped at the chance to read another of her books.
The story starts with drama and the pace stays the same throughout the book, there are no lulls. It was an easy story (and it did have a strong storyline) to read and follow, a typical cheesy rom com which is just what the doctor ordered.
Thank you for the opportunity to read this book, I have downloaded the next two books in this series!

absolutely enjoyed reading this book. It’s really good from start to finish. I just love both Zach and Carolyn and Austin too of course. I love how the story kept me wanting more, how it kept me wondering what is going to happen next. Overall it was just an amazing read!!!

I was already a big fan of Leslie North before reading this and she has just made me an even bigger fan!

A lovely heartwarming story, that features a good guy! I love that Zach is a genuinely nice guy and doesn’t falter throughout this story!

A really easy book to read, I just wish it could have been round the pool! It kept me busy in lockdown and once I started reading I couldn’t stop.
