This story had me sucked in from the beginning. I was anxiously awaiting to see how everything would play out. Sunday went through a great deal.
Malik was in jail facing the death penalty for a crime he did not commit. When he heard of Sunday being brutally attacked, he was devastated. He knew what he had to do. Malik immediately made it his mission to find out who was behind it.
This story had a lot of drama dealing with jealousy and betrayal. I must say the ending was a little unexpected.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I tried reading this book but really by 20%, I had to quit. It just isn't for me. Maybe other people would like it but personally, it just isn't one I even want to finish.
“The Coldest Love She’s Ever Known” by Leo Sullivan was an ok read. I felt like the characters really did not connect and their buildup was lacking. The story itself was good but I do feel like something was missing.
The Coldest Love She’s Ever Known is gritty, new urban fiction from Leo Sullivan.
Sunday Kennedy lives in the urban jungle of Atlanta, GA. Living in a jungle she is confronted with the bane of all jungle dwellers, deadly predators. It just happens that she loves two of these predators, but they hate each other.
Malik “King” Shields is Sunday’s first love, but she gives up on a relationship with him when he’s convicted of murder and sentenced to the death penalty. King is a notorious former gang leader and drug lord.
Caesar Jones is Sunday’s new love and a drug-dealing street hustler on the rise. He’s also the father of her unborn child.
One loves her unconditionally. The other loves the prestige she brings. Will Sunday choose true love or the idea of a family?
Dangerous plots abound from enemies known and unknown. Will any of them survive the destruction of jealousy, betrayal and revenge?
The Coldest Love She’s Ever Known is a perfect example of urban fiction at it’s finest. The story is revealed through the alternating viewpoints of main characters, Sunday and King. Appropriate chapter headers and clear dialogue make this sometimes tricky technique flow smoothly. The characters are all well-rounded and compelling, even the ones you hate. The plot twists and ending are jaw-dropping. There is graphic violence and explicit content, but this novel is unputdownable. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to all readers of multicultural and/or urban fiction or good fiction in general.
My thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
The hallmark of good story is the author’s talent and ability to elicit emotion after reading the first page.
The dynamic between Malik and Sunday is palpable.
While the premise is commonplace in urban fiction, the flow and action are unique to Sullivan.
Highly recommended to avid readers of urban/street lit.
This urban love story did not disappoint. This is a fast pace read that kept my interest throughout. With Malik 'King' Shields facing a life sentence for a triple homicide he is still the man in charge on the streets. As with any king there are those that try to reek havoc on work the king has put in; the men that wish to be a part of his team or the women that want to get in his bed but time always reveal those that go against the grain.
Neither Sunday nor Malik has had a good life. During their 8 year long relationship and several miscarriages later they've dealt with a lot and grew from it. In my opinion this is a thought out plot that gives the essence of a real man and his loyalty to those that he love. My favorite character is Malik. Yes he's did his share of wrong but he makes up for it in many ways. He looked out for Sunday when she thought the worse of him. On the other hand I did not like current boyfriend-baby-daddy Caesar Jones.
There were some unbelievable moments in the book but that's part of being a fictional tale. There are acts of violence and assault on Sunday while pregnant which may be triggers for some readers. I appreciate that the author gave the characters a deserved ending. I don't want to spoil it for potential readers but one person didn't get the appropriate demise due to unfortunate lies.
Sunday and Malik are a couple at the mercy of forces beyond their control and if that weren't enough the author has created a villain you don't see coming. The author has created a spectacularly paced and structured story that doesn't sag at any point.
Overall the pace zooms and in the end love prevails. This is one of the best constructed street lit stories of 2020. If you haven't already y'all better get with this author's work!
The Coldest Love She's Ever Known by Leo Sullivan was a pretty decent read. The story hits pretty hard from the start and only turns up the heat from there. I like that it gives you true Urban life situtuons, but did not elude you into believing complete fairytale fiction. From the began I did not care for Ceasar and Makita.
I was overcomed with the heart pumping twist and blood pressure raising turns. The suspense was there for me and I was really surprised to learn the true foes while silently regretting the loss of true friends. Hate all the loss Sunday faced.
There was so many innocent losses and was happy to see some happiness in the end. I will say it was well desired. This was my first Leo Sullivan read but it won't be my last.
This was a good fast-paced suspense filled romance read. There is no finessing you into the story or the characters because it jumps straight into it. With that being said, there's never a dull moment in this story and I finished it in no time at all. I absolutely loved that this is a standalone read and there's no waiting for the next book to get the full story. Now when it comes to the characters, I liked Sunday, hated Caesar, loved King and didn't care one way or another about Makita. Caesar killed me with his actions after everything went down. I peeped Makita's game before it was revealed so there was no surprise there and Caesar was the man. I loved how he looked out Sunday. I just wish I felt a deeper connection between the two of them. Betrayals are coming from every corner and it can only end one way. The ending was sweet but there was just something missing from this story for me that would have made this a 5 star read.
