The author decides to hitchhike through Ireland in hopes of giving voice to those who are often overlooked. I enjoyed reading of travels, the stories, and the people he meets along the road. The writing is good and there is a lot of humor among the tears. Enjoy the armchair travels
I wish to thank Chelsea Green Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy of Hitching for Hope A Journey into the Heart and Soul of Ireland in exchange for an honest review.
And thankyou Ruairí McKiernan for undertaking this journey and writing this thought provoking book. I very much enjoyed reading this inspiring sometimes humorous account of Ruairi’s hitch hiking travels across Ireland. Set during times of economic recession and personal turmoil, Ruairi embarks on a listening project by asking the people who offer him lifts how they see the future of our society, the prospect of hope. There is social justice and optimism in their stories, people fighting for hope.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking for optimism in the post-apocalyptic world and to our leaders who may need philosophical guidance in shaping a new world.
