Lysa TerKeurst always gets me. She just knows. So I jump at any opportunity to read her books. This one sounded so good and I hadn't heard she was coming out with it, so of course, I jumped. Then I realized it is actually a booklet using repurposed chapters of another book of hers, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God: Experiencing Life in Extraordinary Ways. I was a little disappointed, but the content was still on point. Beautiful stories and thought-provoking nuggets. I think my favorite part though was actually the compilation of scriptures at the end for us to dig into for ourselves about the benefits of obedience and what God sees when He sees His children being obedient. Powerful stuff. Of course, now I want to read the original book.

I loved this book. Lysa TerKeurst is amazing. I feel like every word I've ever read from her is steeped in the word of God. This book was well laid out and easy to understand. I also felt like the basic applications and touch points she gives are biblical and easy to incorporate into your thought life. Definitely would recommend this book!

Albeit a short book, it packs a lot of punch. No matter where you are on your faith journey, this book provides five questions to help the reader discern if they're hearing from God.

1. Does what I’m hearing line up with scripture?

2. Is it consistent with God’s character?

3. Is it being confirmed through messages I’m hearing at church or studying in my quiet time?

4. Is it beyond me?

5. Would it please God?

These five questions can help guide any believer on their journey and to learn to seek God's voice above all others.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

I really loved this book. If you are trying to discern the voice of God, Lysa Terkeurst's inspirational writing will help you understand how to listen and what to listen for. We all struggle with this; we're human, but this author gives you some real "meat on the bone'. I will definitely read more of her writing.

5 stars. I loved these little Bible study and I can't wait to read the book it's based off of! Review to come.

Due to being a high school teacher, I often do not have time to review and fall behind on reviewing. Here are my initial thoughts.

While I had been familiar with Lysa TerKeurst, I had never read any of her books until this one. Very much enjoyed the experience, and plan to look into her other titles. From the first to last page, Lysa really engages the read in this study. More than once, I needed to reach for tissues. Grab your journal and press in. While I read this alone, this would be great for a small group.

Are you willing to hear and follow?
President of the Proverbs 31 Ministries, speaker and New York Times best-selling author, Lysa TerKeurst presents the booklet "Is God Speaking to Me? How to Discern His Voice and Direction", published by Harvest House Publishers, which is an excerpt of her book "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God". The booklet contains three chapters: 1) A Soul That Longs for More, 2) Hearing God's Voice, and 3) Radically Blessed.
In her letter to the readers Lysa states: "I pray that this will be the starting place and inspiration for you to live a radically obedient life that honors God. What happens when women say yes to God? We are changed in the most beautiful of ways. I’ve often said people may not care to meet our Jesus until they meet the reality of Jesus working in us and through us. There’s no better sermon for the world to encounter than a soul who lives saying yes to God (p. 6)." Furthermore she encourages her readers: "You don’t need perfect circumstances to be a woman who says yes to God. You don’t need the perfect Christlike attitude or all the answers to big theological questions. You simply have to surrender all that’s clamoring for attention with the answer God is longing to hear spill from your lips: “Yes, God.” (p.12/23)." I highly also appreciate her five key question that can help to determine if one hears God's voice: 1) Does what I’m hearing line up with Scripture?, 2) Is it consistent with God’s character?, 3) Is it being confirmed through messages I’m hearing at church or studying in my quiet time?, 4) Is it beyond me?, and 5) Would it please God? (p. 29).
Lysa presents many personal experiences as well as some of others in this booklet. She is honest, open, and real. Every chapter ends with a section entitled "Living Out Your “Yes”" where readers can apply what they learned. There are brief notes at the end of the booklet for reference and further study. I cannot wait to read the whole book and other books by Lysa. I highly recommend this booklet to those who have not yet read any of Lysa's writings to get to know her style, to those who have little time to read the whole book, and to beginners on the journey with God.

Listening to God and hearing God’s voice is my favorite topic. It has been a favorite topic since I was in my early to mid twenties when I read John 10:27 “My sheep hear My voice and I know them. They follow Me.”

I love to ask people if and how they hear God’s voice. I’ve been on my own journey practicing two way communication with God.

I respect Lysa and love reading her books. She is a humble servant of Jesus. If you are curious about hearing the voice of God, this is an excellent starting point. After reading this, I recommend any of Jan Johnson’s books on contemplation and listening prayer.

I received an arc copy from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

I do think it needs pointed out this book is a condensed version of Lysa Terkeurst’s previously published book, “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God”.

That aside, it was a good read overall and I think it would be a great introduction to the Author's writing.

It is full of potential for being an inspirational and uplifting read for a woman of God.

I realized when I got this I had already read the book it came from. I read through it again anyway. So many good things to ponder on. The story of the man she gave a Bible to is very moving.

I’ve had moments in my life where I’ve definitely been prompted by God to act. I always am amazed that God would speak to me… that God would use me!

I get so much out of Lysa TerKeurst’s books and highly recommend all her books and Bible studies.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

As always, I felt like I was sitting down having coffee and conversation with Lysa. Her scriptural insights are gold. Her transparency is what makes her writing so relatable for readers.

Is God Speaking to Me is actually a short “pocket book” by the ever inspiring Lysa Terkeurst. She shares how she listens and hears God leading her walk with him. It’s a nice little book, but I would recommend the full version if you really want to dig deeper.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers for the opportunity to read this book.

This was a short book to get women thinking more about really chasing after God. To me, it was a reminder of the beauty to be had, if we take time to get to know Him. I believe she refers to her longer resources, like "What Happens When Women Say Yes to God". I do recommend her books; this one gave the impression as a reminder. Reminders can be very helpful to put us back on track.

Absolutely fabulous-- like usual! Lysa is one of my favorite Christian speakers and authors to-date and never fails to bring a fresh perspective to our daily challenges as women... and as believers. This book was a profound, in-depth read on the voice of God, while still being practical in application and relatability. I highly recommend Is God Speaking To Me? and will be purchasing more copies for loved ones and friends alike. Keep writing, sweet Lysa. God has anointed you to share His heart through your beautiful narrative.

It is an excerpt from What happens when a woman says yes to God.
I was sadden that I already read it. It was still good to re-read and remember.
It is filled with truth and a easy read. Small things are filled with great truth!

I love Lysa’s style of writing and how vulnerable and transparent she is and this book was true to that style. This book served as an invitation to know God more and through her own personal experiences along with biblical principles, Lysa encourages us to ask the hard questions, wrestle with truly knowing how to seek God’s voice and listening to Him when He speaks. It doesn’t have to be a complicated process but it just takes getting quiet and listening and then being able to discern. This book is great for anyone wanting to become more deeply aware of God’s voice and His leading.

Please note this: This short book is made up of chapters from Lysa Terkeurst’s previously published book, “What Happens When Women Say Yes to God”. If you have this book, you have these chapters.

Although this is a shorter “Pocket Book” by this author, it has enormous potential for helping anyone determine to discern and follow God’s leading. The author always consistently points the reader back to scripture, and some of the personal experiences she shares are quite heart-touching. I was especially encouraged as I read this to daily lean in closely to the promptings of the Holy Spirit as to when to speak out about Jesus.

I think this shorter book would be just right for a three week Bible study/discussion with a group. At a price of $2.99, it would also be an affordable book to give away to those who are seeking to find God’s will.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
