A good deed never goes unrewarded! With the next book in her ever-popular Wynn Hockey series Kelly Jamieson delights with family black sheep Jackson's story. The plot is quick to draw the reader in, and the connection between the two is spot on. The drama was a bit light in comparison to the earlier books in the series, but it was a fun read none-the-less. Really enjoying this family!
Jackson Wynn is an easy-going, stand-up type of guy. He loves his family, but he hates the drama that seems to be the constant when he's around them. With his grandfather getting progressively less healthy, he feels obligated to go home for a visit now that his hockey season is over, but then he's high-tailing it to a relaxing summer.
Molly Flynn is a strong-willed, stand up for herself character and I really liked her. She is all set to start her life with the man of her dreams when it all crumbles down around her. She needs to get out of there, and her trivia buddy Jax is just the one to help her. She needs to get away from life right now ... and tagging along on his family reunion in California seems like a good way to do it.
I recommend this book and the series as a whole to anyone who enjoys a good hockey romance that's filled with emotion, drama and passion. This family is close-knit and delightful!

Kelly Jamieson's Game Changer is a fabulous sports romance. The fifth book in the Wynn Hockey series, it's easily read as a standalone.
I enjoy everything about this story. As Molly leaves her fiancee at the altar, her friend and the fiancee's teammate comes to her rescue. Jackson. Ahhh, Jackson is a wonderful character. We are talking book boyfriend all the way.
What follows is a wonderful slow burn romance as the two spend time together. There are many fantastic moments, with Molly being introduced to Jackson's family. And what a family they are. (The definitely make me want to read the previous books in the series.)
This is a fun hockey romance, without all the hockey. Which is ok. (Not every good sports book needs to have action.) It takes place during the off season, so there's only teammate and contact issues involved.
The connection between Molly and Jackson is absolutely fabulous. They are so perfectly compatible from the start, and things only get better. Their story is one of getting a second chance at love, as well as friends to lovers.
The writing is great, with a good flow and riveting dialogue. But the beauty of this story is in it's lesson. Sometimes bad things happen for a reason. Sometimes we need to break in order to improve. Sometimes leaving one's fiancee leaves to real love.
Game Changer is a great read for any sports romance fan. Kelly Jamieson entertains with this heartwarming tale that has a beautiful ending.
From the very beginning I started reading I started laughing because Jackson doesn't mince any words. That first interaction just gave me the feels for how Jackson was going to be and he didn't disappoint. Everything unravels when he ends up with Molly on his trip and the chemistry between them is explosive. Family drama, internal struggles, and steam make this one book I couldn't put down.
I've really been loving this Wynn family series from Kelly Jamieson. It reminds me so much of the old night time soap opera -- lots of family drama. In this fifth installment, Jackson Wynn comes to the aid of a friend.
When Molly Flynn's wedding day blows up in spectacular fashion (really, it's a vicious scene) she turns to Jackson Wynn, one of her fiance's teammates, for help escaping the drama. He obliges, mostly because he's not looking forward to tangling with his own family and he's a good guy and friend. And it's the off-season, so taking Molly with him on an extended vacation works for both of them.
Their friendship turns to something more as they deal with no rooms at the hotel, Jackson's growing attraction to Molly that threatens the bro-code with Molly's ex, and Molly's easy acceptance into the Wynn family. Unfortunately, Molly hasn't dealt with the fallout of her failed wedding either, so she can't stay in California with Jackson indefinitely. But Jackson isn't ready to let her go, and well things take off from there. These two are good for each other but they'll have to deal with a few things before they get their HEA.
Game Changer is your typical, I-wasn't-looking-for-a-relationship-story, and there really aren't any big surprises here (well maybe one toward the end that doesn't have any bearing on the story). This friends-to-lovers story has a bit of a different tone than the previous books in the series, and it seemed very appropriate for Jackson's introduction.
Overall, another successful HEA/HFN in this series.
An ARC was provided. This is my honest review.
I love this big hockey family - The Wynn’s. They are far from perfect, but deep down they have so much love for each other. Some of that love is now only coming to light, but it is there all the same.
The title of this book couldn’t be more apt for Jax & Molly. What happens at the start of the book and how they come together ends up by being both their game changer. Especially so for Jax. He has lived his life due to certain things he believed to be true. Until Molly suggests he questions a few of those beliefs and he then eventually realizes everything isn’t quite so black and white.
Kelly certainly knows how to weave a great story, and I basically read this book in one sitting. Can’t wait for the next Wynn family members story.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Game Changer, by author Kelly Jamieson, is the fifth book in the Wynn Hockey series. Jackson "Jax" Wynn is the only member of the Wynn hockey dynasty that lives outside of California because he plays for the Chicago Aces. Game Changer is his story, as well as a return to the other characters we have all come to know within the drama-filled Wynn family. This book can be read as a stand-alone, however, I strongly recommend reading the entire series.
Hockey season is over for Jax, so he is going to fly to Los Angeles to check in on his grandfather, Bob Wynn. This trip is overdue, especially since his grandfather has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. After a brief visit with his family, he will fly to Canada to spend part of his summer vacation at the family home near Manitoba. However, first he has to attend the wedding of his teammate Steve, Jax has nothing against weddings, but it just is not something he prefers to do. Little does he know, but this wedding is about to change his life.
Molly Flynn is standing on the sixty-seventh floor of the Willis Tower in Chicago...waiting for her wedding to Steve Shevchuk to begin. She is nervous beyond belief, but she is not having the typical pre-wedding jitters. Molly is freaking out because she is about to do something unimaginable on her wedding day...something that will change her life in ways she could not have imagined even a week ago.
I am struggling to write this review because I do not want to give away any spoilers. This book has some major and unexpected twists early on, and those twists lay the groundwork for the rest of the story. With that being said, I love the return to the Chicago Aces...and if you have not read the Chicago Aces series, you seriously need to because it is an outstanding series. Of course, this book is about Jax, but in a way, it still felt like visiting home for me.
The story that unfolds is simply amazing. Kelly has once again perfectly weaved together the threads of a beautiful tapestry through her writing and characters. Molly is a character all women will be able to relate to. I love her strength and determination to do the impossible, regardless of the fallout from it. She knows what she wants and does not want, and I admired that about her. Jax is also a character that I really liked from the very beginning. Like Molly, Jax is going through a lot, both professionally and personally. The never ending family drama has taken a toll on him...in more ways than he even realizes...especially in regards to his childhood. Both characters are facing uncertainty in their lives, and their friendship becomes a benefit to them both as they learn to lean on one another.
Overall, this is a beautifully written story about family, forgiveness, and friendships...and finding love where you least expect it. It is also a story about strength and facing whatever obstacles get in the way. I truly cannot stress enough just how much I loved Game Changer! It is another terrific addition to the Wynn Hockey series.
I would like to thank Kelly Jamieson and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advance reader copy of Game Changer. My views are my own, and are in no way influenced by anyone else.
Wynn Hockey Series:
Book 1 Play to Win
Book 2 In It to Win It
Book 3 Win Big
Book 4 For the Win
Book 5 Game Changer
Kelly Jamieson is on a winning streak with Game Changer (Wynn Hockey #5). This is NHL Chicago Aces’ Jackson (Jax) Wynn’s story. Jax rescues his friend, Molly Flynn from her wedding to his teammate, Steve Shevchuk after she discovered Steve cheated on her. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
This story takes place around the ending of book four, For the Win. I adored this novel. It was entertaining and thought-provoking. With Molly being Jax’s teammate’s ex-fiancé, there were some moral issues that both characters struggled with. Molly and Jax were friends. They try to keep things platonic. Problem is they are attracted to each other, and their personalities are compatible. I loved the trivia aspect of the story; especially Jax’s trivia game toward the end of the story.
Game Changer is the perfect addition to the Wynn Hockey series. It is skillfully written. The plot is stimulating and well executed. The characters go through attention-grabbing circumstances. You could follow this book as a standalone, but I recommend reading the entire series. There are things that happen in the other books that are relevant to this story. I recommend this book to people who enjoy sports romances and trivia. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
On the night before her wedding Molly receives a shock and just want to get away from everything and convinces Jax who is her trivia partner and teammate to her ex to take her with him. Jax is reluctant at first but finally agrees and off they go to see his crazy family’s shenanigans and drama. The chemistry between these two is intense, but is this a rebound romance? No spoilers: this is a definite must read you will not be disappointed. This is a well written story which is fun and entertaining, and I was hooked and intrigued throughout. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
So fun, sweet and sexy! This was a charming, entertaining, fast paced read that had a nice bit of emotion, playfulness, a lot of heart and the perfect amount of heat. It is definitely a mixture of tropes, since it is a mix of friends to lovers, sports romance, and second chance romance. I truly adore the Wynn family a lot. There is such a great dynamic there, with the siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles and the grandfather, but this time there was also some major building and repairing of relationships that is so needed.
When Jackson Wynn (Jax) shows up for the wedding of his teammate and friend Steve Shevchuk to his fiancé Molly, he is totally floored as well as everyone else, when Molly reads some explicit texts that Steve sent to someone named Claire and announced there would be no wedding. Since Jax and Molly have become close due to their love of trivia he goes to check on Molly, but soon finds himself helping Molly escape and he takes her back to his place.
Molly Flynn Is a third grade teacher who had just moved in with her fiancé, or ex-fiancé now, with no where to live. She begs Jax to let her go to California with him to help her get away from the media fall-out, and her ex. But when there are no extra rooms, she is soon staying in a one bedroom hotel suite with him. But soon they find that their time together is a real Game changer!
Watching Jax and Molly come together was fantastic. Molly helps him with family issues at every turn. I loved watching him grow and change through this story. He was just so sweet and tender, and Molly was so supportive and positive they were just so good for each other. But my favorite part is... wouldn’t you like to know. Read it, so you can find your own!
Received an early copy for an honest review.
This is my favorite Wynn book for sure! I loved it! I read it in one sitting, it was a great friends to lovers book, I can't wait to see what comes next!
I look forward to every book in this series, and Game Changer was no exception. It’s a sweet and sexy friends to lovers romance that’s as subtle as it is heartwarming. Jamieson does a great job building intimacy, writing those small moments that move a relationship forward through dialogue and steamy scenes where you can feel the characters connect. Though part of a series, this just might be the easiest to read as a standalone because it leaves the world of hockey behind and focuses on the connection. It's probably my favorite in the series.
The story follows Molly, a teacher who finds out that her fiancé has been cheating on her the night before the wedding. Rather than be humiliated herself, she shows up to the wedding and reads off some incriminating texts before fleeing the scene. Molly leans on Jax, her former fiancé's teammate and a man she's become friends with during the course of her relationship. Since it's the off-season, Jax takes Molly with him as he visits with his family, and what starts as a way to escape turns into so much more. While Jax and Molly have been friendly in the past, it's not until they spend more time together that they truly connect.
I'll be honest: I was skeptical about this storyline. Using your friend as a rebound sounds ill-advised, and I've never been a huge fan of friends with benefits storylines. So I was very happy to discover that this plays out much more naturally than that - while mostly light, there's a seriousness to the story as Molly and Jax both heal from past wounds, connecting as they go. There's a definite emotional build before things turn physical, and I really appreciated that. The only thing that would hold this back from being a 5-star read is the fumble towards the end, but I've sort of accepted that it needed to happen for the progression of the story. Still not my favorite, but I understood it. As a fan of the series, I enjoyed the family moments that tie this in to the other books, but it was also nice that this stands on its own. It's sweet, serious, and just the right amount of sexy. I received an ARC via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review of this friends to lovers romance.
So poor Molly Flynn's wedding to NHL player Steve ends up being mortifying when the rat bastard is caught cheating on her.. She needs to get out of there and luckily for her Jackson whom is a friends of her and team mate to cheating rat bastard helps her get out. Jackson family is cray cray and so dysfunctional, we have father who cheated on mom, grandad marries much younger woman, their fights and arguments all over. Now Jackson helps Molly leave but they are just friends, Steve is still his teamate but a cheating scumbag. Will he go there, someone who would be deemed off limits, but Steve was the wrong one, and Jackson is realizing that there was a mutual attraction, could they have more? Grab a copy!
Hockey is one of my favorite sports and to incorporate this with a topic dear to my heart is a must read in my book. Alzheimer’s is heart wrenching and to witness it with a loved one is emotionally draining and heartbreaking. How she weaves this with Molly and Jackson’s and their emotions is wonderful and I didn’t want their story to end. I adore this series and look forward to more.
The story of Jax and Molly. She is about to marry one of his team mates, but when she leaves him at the altar, Jax helps her escape the ceremony and offers her a place to stay. He is about to leave town for the summer and she wants to go with him, to hide from real life. He reluctantly agrees, and the more time they spend together the more it turns to something more than friendship, but she is just out of another relationship and he doesn't believe in love and happy ever after, so what will happen for them when the summer is over?
The book is part of a series, and whilst I hadnt read of them before this one, I want to go back and read them now!
When Molly learns that her fiancé has been cheating on her, she literally leaves him standing at the altar. Needing to get out, she turns to Jax, Steve’s team mate, and her platonic trivia partner. She convinces Jax to take her with him to California to visit his family. Jax is not to keen on the idea, but unable to say no to her. As they spend time together, they get to know each other and start falling for each other.
I enjoyed this book. It has a different feel then the other books in the Wynn hockey series. It is a fun friends to lovers read with some sizzling chemistry and a sweet romance.

One of my favorites from this author. Love that Molly and Jackson were good friends. With all the crazy family business for both of them, cross country travel, changing life plans---it all rolls together into a slow burn romance that was just a delight to read.
Jackson helps Molly out of her disastrous wedding day. The two then embark on not only a journey in miles, but a journey about life and what it means to be family. What once was important has maybe changed and that is ok.
As always, the Wynn family is chaotic. But so much fun to be around. It was great seeing the cousins and their significant others again. I am loving this series and can't wait to read more.
Unterhaltsamer Liebesroman
Another winner by Kelly! 5 hockey pucks for this one! I just can't enough of this series, and yes please don't let it end!
We meet Jackson Wynn in this story, as he's set to go to his teammates wedding, he's marrying Jacks trivia partner Molly, only she has a surprise for all the guests and even the groom at her wedding. Read along and enjoy their story as it unfolds, you will enjoy every second off this story, grab your copy asap! If you haven't read the others in this series, do it now and be ready for this one!
This was the best book of the series for me, and I loved everything about it. The characters, the story, the details, the build up to the romance...the love scenes....it had everything I look for in a romance.
Molly Flynn dumps her cheating hockey player fiancée at the altar, and in epic fashion. Molly's desperate to leave --she's hurt, humiliated, and embarrassed. Chicago Aces teammate Jaxson Wynn ( Molly's platonic trivia playing buddy) is at the wedding, and is just as shocked as all the guests are. He comes to her rescue and takes her back to his apartment. At this point, Jax and Molly are just buddies-- He teams up with her at a local pub for trivia night. He likes her as a FRIEND; he would never hit on a teammate's girl, no matter that the teammate turns out to be a lying, cheating scumbag. Molly wants to get far away from town to get over her anger and disappointment, and begs jax to take her to L.A., since he's going there the next day to visit his somewhat estranged family. (The Wynns are a complicated, often dysfunctional bunch, but recently they've come together over patriarch Bob Wynn's Alzheimer diagnosis.) Jax wants to patch things up with his grandpa before it's too late, but should he really get involved with Molly and her problems? Molly wears him down and he lets her tag along, and that is just the start of a friendship developing into a beautiful friendship, one filled with lots of important discoveries.
I knew as I turned the pages and learned more about Molly and Jax that they were right for each other. They brought the best out of each other. And watching them fall in love as they spent more and more time together and were a shoulder that each other could lean on...yes, I was rooting for them. And the physical chemistry they had and how they didn't want to go too far because it wasn't right...this isn't a rebound, is it? No you two, you guys were meant to be and thank god you did dump your fiancée at the altar---although it turned out he wasn't a total scumbag, and did want the best for Molly, even if the best was his teammate.
So yeah, I really drank this one up and it made me feel good to read Jax and Molly's journey to happiness. There were some minor bumps along the way, but the need that these two had for each other helped smooth the path. I really enjoyed ALL the details--this story was packed with them--and I especially loved their time together at the cabin on Clear Lake in Manitoba. Of course I had to pull out the atlas to verify--yes, that place is real!
So you're in for a treat if you've been reading the series, and if you're not, and are looking for a hockey series that's filled with good stories and characters to root for, give this a try. I loved everything about it--the hero, the heroine, their mature attitudes, the friends-to-hot-lovers, the plot, the dialogue, the ending...all first rate!
Didn’t really catch my interest

I do enjoy a hockey romance although, to be honest, the fact that Tax is a hockey player isn’t that important to this story - other than the side-story of him waiting to find out if he’s being re-signed to his team, or not. It’s really more of a tale of two friends becoming more…after she dumps her cheating fiancé at the altar!
It wasn’t until I started writing this review that I realised that I don’t feel I really got to know either character all that well. In the beginning we hear that Jax likes women and plays the field as he’s not all that interested in marriage due to some family drama. He does change as the book - and his relationship with Molly - moves on, but did I feel emotionally invested in these characters? Not really. And did I really feel I knew them? Not at all.
Which kind of surprised me as there was a lot of content in this 291 page book - and a lot of dialogue. Sometimes it was just back and forth and back and forth, with no interruption, which did make reading go in a flash, but didn’t do much for me building up knowledge or feeling. And some of the writing really came across as if it would have been better had this been a film where I could see nuances and facial expressions. Words like “whelp” can’t really compete with being shown how someone feels.
There’s a lot of side stories also going on in this story - and for the first half of the story at least, a lot of it is to do with Jax’s family. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series - and while I definitely think this book stands alone, I also think I would have enjoyed the family scenes a little bit more had I known who on earth some of these other people were.
There is also the fact that Jax’s grandfather has Alzheimer’s and his parents are still working through their break-up from when Jax was a teen. So it’s definitely not all fun and games with his crazy, quirky family.
The book is written in first person, present tense - so “I sigh.” “I walk…” etc. and in both Jax and Molly’s point of view, normally alternating a chapter each, but sometimes it changes halfway, or a couple of times in the middle. It’s a good mix of both voices.
It takes a long while for Jax and Molly to cross that friendship line into something more - but even when they did I felt that it was on the rebound and nothing more. I did change my mind as they spent more time together but it was always a bit of a niggle. But by the end I was cheering for them to get together - and it was kinda sweet the way Jax apologised.
I didn’t think there was much need for Steve to be redeemed in anyone’s eyes at the end. And him going to bat for Molly and then being so cool with Jax just made me shake my head in disbelief. Sometimes people are douchecanoes - and that’s alright.
Overall, I just couldn’t get into this book or this story. I think that if you fancy this book and haven’t read the others in the series, read them first so you have some sort of attachment to the Wynn family. Then, I’m sure you’ll really enjoy this book and devour it from cover to cover. Coming in as a newbie to the Wynn’s, I can only give it 3 stars, I’m afraid.
