Typically I love a good romance novel although I find romance novellas like this one often aren't developed enough to enjoy. And this one unfortunately didn't grab me at all and I struggled to get through the 60 pages.
Fated Encounter is about a second chance romance after Brody and Shaina meet again a year after their initial meeting in Phoenix. Shaina has just moved to Seattle to escape her overbearing ex-fiance and runs into Brody at his restaurant game night. Sparks fly instantly and a whirlwind romance forms in just a week.
I didn't find the concept that far fetched as it's been tackled in so many romance novels before. I just found the development of the characters lacking and the sex scenes so weird and uninteresting with excessive use of the word "gushing".
It's a quick read though so its perfect for reading in one sitting.

Did not finish, the characters seemed fake and the sexual encounters made me feel uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong, erotic fiction is fine, this was creepy
I read this ARC for an honest review

A great short read, this novella is a second chance romance
Liked the characters and the story
Read in one sitting
really enjoyed it
Sparks fly between Brody and Shaina during a chance encounter. It just so happens that they had met a year ago in another country. Is this second encounter coincidence or is it fate? Surely nothing could get between two people when it's fate, right?
The novel is a quick read but the dialogue seems to be a little clunky and disjointed. There was little character development and I had a difficult time sticking with the storyline. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I have to say that I don't typically read romance novels and feel like other reviews of this novel might be able to offer more insight.
This book was an easy read. Perhaps too easy. Personally I didn’t think there was much of a story line and Brodie’s character wasn’t that strong. In saying this; it is a lighthearted book that one can pick up and read if you don’t want to think about anything.
Fated Encounter by Samantha Gentry is the story of Shaina Thomas and Brody Danvers.
Brody has seen Shaina before but she was engaged so he didn't act on his feelings towards her. Now thought in their present day, Shaina is free from a failed engagement and has relocated to Seattle which puts her back in Brody's eyes. This was a quick hot read with just a little drama.
The Fated Encounter by Samantha Gentry.
Brody Danvers entrepreneur meets Graphic artist Shaina Thomas at a party in Phoenix a year ago and thinks she is the woman of his dreams . He goes back to his home and business and they don’t hear from each other again as she was engaged at that time. A year later she is in a restaurant bar in Seattle and runs into Brody who owns the business unknown to her. Shaina has moved to Seattle having just recently ended an abusive relationship.
Very quick read very short . I was very disappointed as though mostly a reasonably well written book. In my opinion it had a poor ending it could have given you more and it was almost as if part of the story had a piece missing. Sorry Samantha .
I received a free copy of Fated Encounter in exchange for an honest review. This was a very short novella. Shaina and Brody had met briefly at an event in Phoenix. One year later, Shaina moved to Seatlle after a failed engagement, and she ran into Brody. Brody remembered her, and they rekindled their quick acquaintance which within one week developed into a full blown relationship, with Shaina moving in with Brody.
This was an average read for me. Brody's character gave the impression of someone that was suave and who liked to wine and dine the ladies, with no intent to really settle down. The fact that he met Shaina and within a week they were moving in together just didn't resonate well with me as a reader.
The book was well written and easy to read, but not something I'd recommend to friends or family.
This is the review I posted on goodreads of the book. It was a great book and thank you for giving me the access to this book
I received an e-arc from netgalley for review
I really loved this book. It was a cute novella about I want to say second chance style romance story. I found that the both of the main characters are very likable and you can understand where there issues came from and how they resolved them. I would have liked if it was a little longer but it was very fast paced romance novella.

Well, that was a quick read, like less than an hour. Brody and Shaina had sparks and chemistry and fell into that relationship really quick. There's also a little drama (and I do mean little...crazy employee and crazy ex). The crazy employee drama was dealt with nicely, but the crazy ex there was no conclusion to that drama, plus how did both crazys know where she lived.
This was a quick and sweet read. I enjoyed it a lot. Only downfall, I wish there was more! I will definitely read more from Samantha Gentry.
Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Shaina has just done away with a domineering fiance, and has had enough of control freak men.
She runs off to Seattle only to collide with a man who appears to be as much controlling and a decision-maker as her ex. Surely Shaina has to stay away from him.
But this guy is an epitome piece of sex appeal with a good sense of humour and a sparkling personality. Can she still resist, more so even when this man is all for trying a hand at getting into her life? Hard luck, huh?
Well, judge this book by its cover and you'll know.
If you are a teen with raging hormones, this book is for you. It gets straight to flirting and erotic thoughts, which is quickly followed by actions.😉
Wanna make your bookshelf steamier this summer? Then have a look at this short piece of erotic romance.
I was pleasantly surprised with this contemporary romance novella. It has a very compelling plot and main characters. The only drawback about this story was that I wanted more. I think it should've been a full length novel. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This was a good book for a short and easy read. I, personally, did want some more character personality and a bit more insight to their personal lives. But other than that, it’s not bad.
IT WAS A VERY SHORT READ AND UNDER-DEVELOPED. HOWEVER THE PLOT WAS GREAT BUT IT WASN'T JUSTIFIED IN THE BOOK. I THOUGHT THE INTIMATE SCENES WERE REPETITIVE. OVERALL THE STORY WAS SWEET AND LOVELY. THE ENTRY OF EX WAS GOOD. THE AUTHOR HAS INDEED PUT EFFORTS IN THIS BOOK BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LIT BIT MORE DEVELOPED..
2 STARS only.
Thank you NetGalley and The Wild Rose Press Inc. for providing a copy!
Shaina is an illustrator who moved to Seattle and Brody is the owner of a restaurant and radio station.
I don’t know about the others who’ve read this but something’s off with this book. It was a quick read in a bad way. The story felt like it was rushed, and it felt like it was written for the heck of it. It’s like a draft that got published. There’s nothing memorable about this and Shaina? She was too overacting... it’s up to you if you want to read this.
I received a copy from Netgalley and the publisher for my honest review. When I asked for the book I thought- great- a short novella for a quick break from reality. The length worked for me and my time, but the whole story seemed too fast and underdeveloped (however, I am not used to reading short novellas so I don't know if I am expecting more than I should). The plot piqued my interest, and I was not disappointed with the direction of the story line, just wished for more development of the plot. The pace of the characters connecting was really fast. Shaina and Brody were immediately having sex, after not really knowing each other and having only seen each other at a friend's party a year ago. Maybe being a short novella means everything moves at a quicker pace. ?.? I could not get past the constant sex scenes, especially for such a short book. I felt these scenes used the same words in the same order and I questioned if I lost my place in the book because I felt like I just read that part. I liked the idea of the ex- finance coming in the picture, but again, I think it needed more development. I think the author did a great job of taking time to develop the emotions and understanding of the characters.
When Shaina Thomas has a chance encounter with a man she’d met a year prior half a country away, it seems like coincidence. But really, it’s fate. Entrepreneur Brody Danvers is attractive and invested from the get-go, and is ready to break down Shaina’s walls in search of something meaningful, but both of them have murky figures in their past and present who try to thwart their future.
This short read follows what seems to be destiny – a fated encounter, aptly. The love story is easy and light, despite the murky figures who figuratively and literally plague Shaina and Brody’s relationship. Seattle (and Bainbridge) is almost a character in its own right, adding color to the story. Gentry works to establish the world in which this story is grounded well.
Unfortunately, what could have been a compelling story comes across as pretty robotic. The dialogue between lovers is rote, and the only scenes that break with this are those that involve the story’s antagonists. Even the “erotic” scenes became a bit of a yawn, with brief, mechanical descriptions – it isn’t fair to call this book erotica. Toward the end, I found myself flipping through pages looking for something, anything, to spark my interest, and I found the story wanting.
This was an okay story. I didnt love it and I didnt hate it. But I did think there was a little too much sex in it for it being a shorter novella story. The characters were okay, I did not love them or hate them but I also did not really connect to them. The story seemed a little too easy going. Shaina and Brody see each other after meeting a few years before. She had a fiancee then and doesnt have one now but she has moved to town and they meet before she even starts her new job and they are in a relationship over a few days period.
The ex drama was also kind of weird. He shows up and says you are moving , it seemed a little crazy and over the top and did not really create much drama so it served no real point.
Wow, that was a super short book and quick read. Nothing particularly memorable, hurdles to be faced were basic and easy to overcome.
